David Boreanaz & wife Jaime welcome baby girl Bardot Vita

Bones star David Boreanaz and his wife, former Playmate and actress Jaime Bergman, welcomed their second child on Monday. Jaime gave birth to a little girl that they named Bardot Vita Boreanaz. I’m really hoping that “Bardot” is after Bridget Bardot, and that the “t” will not be pronounced. The name reminds me of Nicole Richie’s daughter’s name – Harlow Winter Kate. I think Harlow works a little better than Bardot, but whatever. Anyway, little Bardot and her mom are both healthy, and Bardot joins big brother Jaden Rayne, who is 7 years old.

David Boreanaz’s little angel has arrived. Wife Jaime Bergman delivered the couple’s second child, daughter Bardot Vita Boreanaz, on Monday, PEOPLE has learned exclusively.

Baby Bardot weighed in at 7 lbs., 14 oz., and joins big brother Jaden Rayne, 7, at home.

The birth comes as a relief to Bones star Boreanaz, who had been staying close to home in case Bergman, who had been on bed-rest, went into labor.

“I must maintain a 20-mile radius. I cannot travel beyond that,” the former Angel star, 40, told PEOPLE recently. “If I do, I’ll freak out – I have to be there when the baby comes.”

Now that Bardot has arrived, the couple can breathe easy.

“We’ve been trying to have another baby for a couple of years now so we are beyond excited,” Bergman, 33, recently told PEOPLE’s Celebrity Baby Blog. “We’re over the moon.”

The new season of Bones will premiere Sept. 17 at 8 p.m. EST on Fox.

Congratulations to the happy family! I have been reading a lot of stuff about the upcoming season of Bones – because, yes, I have become a huge Bones geek – and I saw that David wasn’t traveling around on promotional duties because he wanted to stick close to home. He’s such a sweetheart. He’s going to be crazy protective of his little girl, I just know it. Sigh. I love him.

As for Bones, I got into the show last year, when it went into syndication on TNT, and I have become a total convert. I now belong to the Church of Boreanaz. Emily Deschanel is my Goddess and I tend to think David Boreanaz is one of the most underrated actors working today. It’s not even that Bones is brilliantly written, or that the crimes are that interesting (no on both counts – the writing and the stories are good, but sometimes the crimes are like old-school Law & Order). My love for this show and the two leads is all about the incredible chemistry David and Emily have together, and how beautifully their relationship is written and acted. Last season’s finale cliffhanger left me on the f-cking floor (I’m not giving away spoilers, but for those of us who watched, it was really devastating), but it looks like the new season will be bringing lots of fun and excitement – the previews I’ve seen made me squeal with delight. Here’s hoping for years of more entertaining Bones seasons, and that David and his family stay healthy and happy. Ten bucks says that Emily Deschanel is little Bardot’s godmother!

I have always liked him as an actor. From Buffy to Angel and now to Bones. Like Kaiser, I got into it when it came on TNT and am amazed at how much I like the show. I thought “Why haven’t I watched this on Fox?”

I also LOVE LOVE LOVE this man.

I agree, totally underrated as an actor, and he and Deschanel have great chemistry on that show.

His wife was HILARIOUS on “Son of the Beach”, Howard Stern’s take on what “Baywatch” really should have been.

Awww, this is sweet. I wish David’s new daughter all the good fortune in the world 🙂

…she is gonna need it with that shitty name

  4. rzrlvr says:

I love this guy. I fell in love with him when I was fifteen and he was Angel on “Buffy.” And he just keeps getting better. *sighs*

On a side note..does she look a little like Sarah Michelle Gellar to anyone else here?

  5. AlaskaJoey says:

I think she’s a lot less hard and porny looking then she used to be. Remember how she looked when they first got together? Very plastic and overly made up. I think she’s gotten her implants removed, too. Much prettier now.

I loved Bones and Boreanaz until last year, when the Gorgomon’s Apprentice storyline and hiring of John Francis Daley in the same season just pissed me off too much at once – I stopped watching the show. It seems to have devolved into slapstick, so I don’t even think I’m going to rent this last season.

LOL!! @ nona. I thought the same thing when I read the name. I normally don’t mind “unusual” names, but that one just doesn’t do it for me.

  7. Sheigh says:

Eurg name! Nobody loves this french woman reference “Brigitte Bardot” even in her country. She’s so nut, racist and loves nobody except her dogs! And her face is freaky & ugly! I hope it’s not because all that they choose her name!

  8. wow says:

Hey is this the guy who use to be married to Jennifer Garner or is that someone else?

  9. Kaiser says:

Wow – That was Scott Foley. Scott’s okay, but David is just lovely.

So glad to see so many Bones fans in here!

I’d been reading the Kathy Reichs books for some time, so I watched the show as soon as it came on. Really like Emily Deschanel and the chemistry with Boreanaz. I’ve been unhappy with some things like turning the assistant into a cannibal, but I’ve stuck with the show. I don’t like a lot of shows so I’m glad this one has taken off.

  11. Hieronymus Grex says:

Good on ya, Angel !! congrats.

  12. Nebraska says:

Why do these celebs give their kids such funky stupid names? Are they afraid that if they give the child a decent name that the child will eclipse the parents fame or something?

  13. Jill says:

I think he went to Ithaca College when I was there, 1986-90. Upstate NY yeah!

  14. Squirtle says:

I loved to watch him on Buffy & Angel. But as far as him being a “good guy” I’m not so sure…He was previously married to this very normal Irish woman named Ingrid who basically convinced him to play the role of Angel and jumpstart his career…then he left her for this trashy playboy model Jamie. He’s just as big of a douche as Jon Gosselin I’m afraid.

  15. Phoenix says:

    @Squirtle:

Not to come off as an obssessive fan, but you’re way off base. His first wife, I think her name was Ingrid, and he got a divorce AFTER his career as Angel took off because she hated the public limelight and their relationship sort of dissolved. He married Jaime Bergman three years later after they’d met several times, fell in love, and were both ready to have children.

And I don’t know where the “trashy” comment came in, just because she did porn. There’s a difference between Playboy and Hustler – she just showed off, she never did the deed on camera. And, by the accounts of every fan whose ever actually met either of them, they’re both incredibly nice people. Check your facts.

Oh, and by the way: I completely agree with everyone else. I hate to say it; I thought Jaden was a cool, unique name…but Bardot? WTF? That’s the weirdest girl name I’ve ever heard, and since they saddled her with “Vita” as a middle name, she can’t even switch to that! I hope they build up her self-confidence at home, because that poor girl will be teased MERCILESSLY once she hits elementary school age!

  16. dewclaw says:

What a pretentious name – really can’t stand it when people name their children some exotic star’s last name

This is amazing! i have added it to my favorites.
