Eddie Cibrian’s mom hates LeAnn Rimes, wants him to go back to his wife

LeAnn Rimes in a little black dress does lunch and a bit of shopping in Los Angeles
The National Enquirer has a story about a subject that’s been hinted about in previous articles. Namely, that Eddie Cibrian’s mom is totally Team Brandi in the epic Eddie-LeAnn-Brandi scandal. The Enquirer basically claims that Eddie’s mom Hortensia doesn’t even want to meet LeAnn, and this is totally driving LeAnn crazy. Hortensia thinks Eddie should just finish with his strange and go back to his wife. Well played, mom:

LeAnn Rimes’ romance with Eddie Cibrian has hit a major roadblock – his mom!

Eddie’s mom Hotensia disapproves of his affair with the Grammy-winning singer, and refuses to meet or even speak to LeAnn, pals say.

“LeAnn is completely stressed,” an insider says. “She was hoping her new life with Eddie would have a happily-ever-after ending. But that’s not happeneing because Eddie’s mom is horrified that he ran off with her and ditched his wife Brandi. She sees LeAnn as a homewrecker!”

Adding to LeAnn’s insecurity, Eddie still hasn’t introduced her to his sons – Mason, 6, and 2-year-old Jake. Eddie even caught Mason’s soccer game on Sept. 12 by himself.

“LeAnn desperately wants to meet the boys, but so far Eddie hasn’t let her,” the source revealed. “When they hang out, it’s usually just the two of them. Eddie’s friends and family still haven’t adjusted to the idea of LeAnn on his arm.”

Despite a recent getaway to Mexico, the family tension has LeAnn fearing that Cibrian, whose mother is reportedly battling breast cancer, will dump her, said the source.

“Hortensia is hoping it blows over soon and he goes back to Brandi,” added the source.

[From the National Enquirer, print edition, October 5 2009]

The whole “Eddie doesn’t want to introduce his kids to LeAnn” thing is also a running theme in In Touch Weekly’s little story about Eddie and LeAnn. In Touch claims that LeAnn and Eddie are “shacked up” in a Beverly Hills home “just blocks away from Eddie’s children’s school.” According to IT’s source, “Eddie wanted to be close to his kids, because that is very important to him – although LeAnn hasn’t met the kids.”

Meanwhile, the source goes on to say that Brandi Glanville “is so angry… she doesn’t want LeAnn around her kids, and she feels like they are being really disrespectful. Brandi wanted nothing to do with Eddie after she learned he was seeing LeAnn.” I actually disagree. After Brandi spent weeks bad-mouthing Eddie to whoever would listen, she seems to be taking the high road as of late, almost as if she figured she could let “sources” do her dirty work. It doesn’t really matter – public opinion is on her side in that respect. Although if I were Brandi, I would be concerned about the kids too. LeAnn seems sort of Alex Forrester-esque.

Don’t get me wrong, these people are gross… But, it’s not the mother’s place to decide what is right or wrong for her son. Eddie chose his own path, and if Mama Cibrian wants to stay close to his ex-wife thats her prerogative, but she can’t make those type of choices for her son. He’s not a baby, he’s an adult.

I’m really bothered by parents like this. It’s over-protective, controlling, and creepy to the extreme. I just want to scream : “It’s not your life! Let it go!”

  2. Grrl447 says:

It must be hard for a mom to deal with watching her son very publicly tear his family apart

  3. Amelia says:

Okay, fine, but it takes two to tango. Eddie isn’t blameless.

  4. Mari says:

I despise what Eddie did to his family. Good for his mom to show she doesn’t approve of his actions. And LeAnn, well, she’ll end up out on her rump when he’s done with her. That’ll be her punishment. Karma folks, not just the name for the skank in my political science class.

  5. caitlinsmommmy says:

I’ll bet Eddie is a real mama’s boy too… the kind of man-boy that lets his mother run his life. Wonder if his mother will prevail and he will dump LeAnn?

  6. yadira says:

What goes around comes around…. If he left his wife and his small children for a fling, what makes Leanne think he won’t do it to her?

  7. Iggles says:

I get why Brandi doesn’t want LeAnn to be the kids. It’s HER kids and LeAnn is the mistress!

LeAnn should be patient. If things work out with Eddie and they do get married, she will be a legitimate part of the kids’ lives. For now she should just chill. Pressuring him is NOT the way to go.

  8. wow says:

Cosigning with you, Birdie. These are adults. Their parents have no say so on who they date, marry, divorce or hook up withuld . Eddie seems like an ass because he should have just divorced his wife before starting up with Leanne. And so should have Leanne. That’s what makes it shady.

But we don’t know what part their spouses truly played into the demise of their marriages either. So I won’t be too quickly to say the spouses are all innocent in this. I don’t know.

Back to the parents – again they don’t make their sons or daughters choices for them when they are adults so in no way can they make someone go back to a marriage they don’t want. It’s like those fools who feel George Clooney’s parents are so hurt that he won’t marry. Nonsense. These are grown men. They don’t need their parents permission on how to conduct their personal lives.

  9. Firestarter says:

Jeez, these people are adults, let them live their mistakes and lives as they see fit.

If Eddie wants LeAnn, so be it, as long as he sees his children and takes care of them how a father should, no one should care about what he did to his marriage one way or the other. As many other posters have said before, obviously the marriage was’nt that solid to begin with.

Also, all this “If he left his wife for Leann, what makes her think he won’t do the same to her” is getting old. None of us knows, going into any relationship if our significant other won’t cheat on us and end up hurting us. That is what trust at the beginning of a relationship is all about. LeAnn DOESN’T know that he won’t do it to her, but Eddie doesn’t know either that SHE maybe won’t do it to him, as people seem to forget, she too was a married woman and cheated on her husband with Eddie, and ended the marriage to be with someone else. The door swings both ways. Just because Eddie is a man, does not mean that a WOMAN cannot turn around and cheat on him, doing the same thing she did to her husband.

  10. MSat says:

This is actually pretty normal in cases like this, but the mother will come around eventually after the shock and disappointment wears off. My ex’s family was the same way about his slam-hound. They told him that she would never be accepted by the family because of their affair. Now they are all chummy with her and barely speak to me. That’s how it goes.

  11. Popcorny says:

Totally empathizing with the (grand)mother and Brandi, not that they’re “right” but very understandable.
Love the name “Hortensia”. Even if Brandi and Eddie should not get back together (he’s a louse), I’m glad his mother is supporting Brandi -and shunning that slimebag, Leeann.
The way Eddie and Leeann played this thing, they deserve the gutter alley.

  12. nj says:

@Msat. I am sorry that happened to you. Your ex’s family is weak and spineless. While I agree that he is a grown adult and it is his life to live, I applaud his mother speaking out and making her disapproval known. Nothing disgusts me quite like people who “don’t get involved” when maybe they should. One of the reasons that people do f-ed up things is bc they are not held accountable for their actions. One of the biggest problems in our society is that shame has become passe. There is no shame anymore! Good for Hortensia for not standing idly by and supporting by omission her selfish, family-wrecking son. I have 2 boys (young) myself and if someday one of them pulled a stunt like this and left my grandchildren hurt and abandoned, you bet I would LOUDLY make my objection.

  13. filthycute says:

I think I’ll have Eddie Cibrian for lunch.

  14. Jackie says:

Leann and Eddie can both most certainly break up any and all relationships they want to BUT that does not mean their families have to accept either of the whores. Some people have morals. Just because he is her son, it does not mean she has to allow his whore in her house or accept her. Whether he breaks up with her over his mother not accepting her is HIS choice; but his mother certainly has the right to refuse her even if he does stay with her.

  15. Sigh. says:

Isn’t this his 2nd time having a mistress?

I get with the “over protective mother” view, but keep in mind that his mom is probably the only woman who has watched him do this time and time again, and she’s probably sick of it.

Brandi was the mistress before, she obviously eventually attached to her, and now what is happening, here comes a new stray…

Now mom is working thru breast cancer, so the extra stress of meeting yet another “love his life” is not high on her priority list.

  16. Firestarter says:

Ellen- How do you know they love Angelina to pieces? Have you been around the family during visits, holidays? Just because they are all smiles in public, does not mean it is the same in private.

    jussayin,

  17. princess pea says:

It’s okay for her to bitch about him to the tabs, sure. But she probably shouldn’t expect to get a lot of visits while the boys are with him, I guess.

Who says he’s “abandoned his kids”? He’s staying blocks away from their school, and he just attended a soccer game. And that’s the part we KNOW about. Honestly, are you trying to imply that parents MUST live together for the children’s sake? My family life improved when my parents split, because they weren’t fighting in front of their kids anymore. My dad still loves me, even if we stopped living together 20 years ago.

  18. Firestarter says:

Ellen- I hate to break it to you, but this particular thread is about Leann Rimes and Eddie Cibrian. Why all the Angelina references?

  19. Praise St. Angie! says:

    oh, the publicist is back.

can we just start calling her LeMAN Rimes?

egad, what a puss on her.

  20. Judy says:

Leeann is not the first woman he has cheated with and wont be his last. Dont be blaming her, he is a cheat too and has been cheating on his wife since before he even married her and she is a liar because she KNEW he cheated before they married but wanted him sooooo bad that she said ok as long as I get him, he has had several mistressess before going out with LW. Get off her back I bet he told her the marriage was over and I think he planned on leaving Brandi before he even met LW. He couldnt have been too happy with Brandi because he has had one woman after another, so maybe there is a reason he cheats?????????

  21. elle em says:

Can’t Edie do better than THAT?!

  22. Firestarter says:

Who is Hugh Jackson? Celine Dion’s husband is old and no looker.

  23. Firestarter says:

Oh, okay, yeah Ellen it Jackman, the Jackson had me confused.

  24. Jake says:

I think this is a fake story planted by Rimes for publicity. In a couple of weeks she will be gloating around town with an engagement ring on her finger. She has Eddie’s career and his manhood in the palm of her little hand and if Eddie doesn’t fall in line she will squeeze like a vice.

  25. Julie says:

Eddie’s performances on CSI are good and I have confidence that by the end of next season he will dominate the ensemble cast. In fact, his will be the lead character with no need for that little geek Horatio. Even though I love his shirtless photos-ops, they must stop because they make him look cheap and desperate for attention. An “A” list leading man leads by his presence and charisma and Eddie has oodles of both. An Emmy is on the horizon for next season and there after is the possibility of a red carpet walk with the likes of a Charliez Theron or Ann Hathaway who are truly beautiful women of substance and talent. This is your time Eddie, work hard and keep focused on the future.

  26. Cathy says:

If Eddie walks any red carpet it is going to be with LeAnn. She’s more beautiful than Theron or Hathaway and sings better too. Eddie has LeAnn to thank for his celebrity and it is his obligation to marry her and have lots of babies. He’ll prove that he can be a devoted father and loving husband with the right family.

  27. Mike says:

Yes Eddie the future is here! There are many fish in the sea so pay no attention to the washed up Mississippi Mackerels lying in the sand and consider catching a Magnificent Hollywood Marlin swimming just off shore. Have all the kinky fun you want in private but in public you should remember that a has-been 90’s lounge singer will only drag down a rising star.

  28. Jerri says:

I agree that Eddie has LeAnn to thank for his publicity. It is LeAnn who exposed their affair, who cancelled a concert to publicly stalk him to promote the affair, who dug up the dirt on Eddie’s mistresses, and it is LeAnn who walks around gloating about destroying the lives of innocent people. LeAnn is absolutely responsible for Eddie’s reputation as a maggot, free-loader, serial cheat, sexual predator, liar, adulterer, and America’s sleaze bag. Eddie is “obligated” to marry this person who has done so much for him. It sounds like Eddie’s mother has the same opinion of Rimes as most everyone else.

  29. Jillian says:

This is a made-up article or planted by Eddie’s mother. She must love the boost LeAnn has given to her son’s career and I doubt Eddie’s mother gives one fig about her grandchildren. Eddie’s mother is no different than Rimes father. They both use their children to get what they want which is money. Wilbur Rimes and Eddie’s mother gave their children their values which are the absence of moral character.

  30. elvisgrace says:

It would be understandable if his mom wanted him to get back together with his wife. If they get divorced, and Brandi has primary custody(which I’m pretty sure she will), the grandma won’t have as much access to her grandchildren, even if she does remain on good terms with Brandi. All those holidays and vacations will now be split between two families.

  31. Janis says:

I think momma Cibrian will accept Eddie marrying anyone but Rimes. Rimes has made such a spectacle of all this with her publicity obsession and gloating. Any time Rimes and Cibrian are photoed together the nastiness of all this will be relived. Eddie will be called every dirty name in the book and LeAnn will forever be nothing but a manipulative liar and homewrecker. Rimes doesn’t care about Eddie’s kids. It’s just her manipulative way of getting more of a strangle hold on Eddie and I think momma realizes this.

  32. Firestarter says:

Homewrecker, shromewrecker. It’s 2009, not the Victorian era. As Elvin Bishop sang, They fooled around and fell in love. It happened, get used to it and move on. Life happens and it isn’t always neat and tidy or pretty.

  33. Deb says:

Oh I can guarantee it won’t be pretty.

  34. Jbeth says:

Momma Cibrian probably looks upon Brandi as her own daughter. I hope momma is more of a loyal person than Eddie is. I’ll pray for momma Cibrian to recover from her cancer and I hope she stands by her morals which are only good for her son. Eddie doesn’t seem to realize the moral hazard his mother is trying to protect him from.

  35. jj says:

Interesting that when the Enquirer story hits, there is another fairy tale snipit in the InTouch mag about this grusome twosome living together. Yeah and the house is right near his son’s school. And of course, they are soooooo happpppy. Tend to believe the story about his mother rather than the fairy tale. Smirk girl better get some warm clothes, looks like she will be “frozen” out by his family and friends (although he probably only had girlfriends).

  36. Deb says:

doesn’t Brandi live in Calabassas. I believe the article in IT says they have staying in a house in Beverly Hills. Isn’t that kinds of along way to go to school? HMMMMMM

  37. JJ says:

Deb, you are so right. Thought it was a bogus story.

  38. skilo says:

“Cathy”,post #39 must be LeMAN Slimes because who else would post such crap.

  39. ANNA says:

LE ANNE RIMES IS A HOMEWRECKER!! RESPECT OTHER WOMEN’S MEN B@#%*!!! Eddie is such a Scumb Bag and he will cheat on her too!!

  40. Deb says:

Leann “lovable” quite laughable. I’ve seen nothing lovable about her. Now if you would have said selfish you would have been right. That’s what PR peeps do try to whitewash vile behaviour.
Not sure if this is true but quite a few people are claiming Eddie has been snipped. So unless he plans on having that reversed(which you can’t do after a few years)those babies might be in the never neverland of Leann’s mind. Unless she plans to adopt. Not so sure Eddie wants more kids. They seem to cramp his style, unless of course he’s playing “loving and devoted” father. He’s proven to be anything but. He’s a douche. I’ll stop here to avoid making any “false future”(still laughing)accusation’s

  41. Mave says:

Who wouldn’t hate her. She’s gross.

  42. Allegra says:

Not to be mean but he is WAY too cute for LeeAnn. Does she have THAT much money…

  43. Lita says:

Is it just me, or do a couple of posters have the same opinion, writing style, propensity to pose and answer rhetorical questions, etc? This was a weird comment thread to read, lol!

  44. Birdie says:

    @ ellen

So Angelina says 95% of what is written about her is false, ok. cool… the fun part is speculating what the 5% that is real… For the most part, all celebrity gossip is speculation and rumors… Thats kind of the fun. You take what you want and you leave the rest. These people are out there and we all know them and what makes sites like celebitchy fun is that we can sit around and dissect their lives in ways that would be cruel if we knew them personally. They’re out there. They chose their path, and why can’t we find some enjoyment (albeit petty) from speculating about their lives.

I speculate that Eddie’s mom either thinks his behavior is really gross, or she doesn’t see it as his fault at all. I’m more inclined to believe the latter because I see Eddie as a Mama’s boy, and I see Hortensia and seeing no wrong in her son. I don’t doubt she thinks Leann is foul, but I just don’t think that in a healthy parent-child relationship, where the child is in his 30s, his mother should be making his life choices.

  45. Deb says:

Well then Leann is in for a world of heartache. Deservedly so. If Eddie’s mom’s comments are true, don’t attack her she is certainly entitled to have this opinion. People seen to forget those are her grandchildren’s and a daughter in-law she loves whose lives are being shredded by these 2 selfish idiots.

  46. Cheyenne says:

Momma needs to mind her own damn business. Her son is not her little boy any more. He’s old enough to make his own decisions and if he makes the wrong ones, then he will just have to live with it.

Parents need to stay out of their married children’s personal lives. My son and his wife (then his girlfriend) were having problems four years into their relationship. I refused to take sides. I told him, you guys are adults, you work it out. They did and they have been together for 15 years now.

  47. Teri says:

ellen, you are a complete idiot. Really, you are. You defend these two selfish homewreckers while vilifying their respective spouses and it makes me sick!! They are at his kids soccer game, what is she supposed to do? Kick him in the nards? Really, I wish you’d shut it. You obviously have no idea what it’s like to be betrayed like Eddie and LeAnn have done. Quit excusing them! Face it, LeAnn’s “I a sweet innocent country girl” has gone right in the crapper. Hopefully, both of these two’s careers will tank. Eddie can go work at McDonald’s to support his kids.

  48. Deb says:

Or maybe Eddie’s having second thoughts. Wouldn’t that get your panties in a twist. Sounds like someone is hard at work trying to whitewash Eddie’s iamge. TO LATE!!! I’m sure Brandi didn’t tip the paps at where they would be. HMMMMMM must be Eddie and Leann. Is nothing sacred to these 2 douchebags.

  49. CB Rawks says:

Sigh. Eddie, you were so pretty you actually convinced me to watch Sunset Beach. Your beautiful presence as Cole Deschanel *smirk* counter-acted the stink of that *Good Ben/Evil Ben* storyline which was so thoroughly lame. (The one with the ugly British guy.)
But now it appears you’re not just pretty, you are also a douche.
    Bummed.

  50. Deb says:

Common doesn’t make it right Ellen.
Your PR isn’t working and now that Brandi has a new show she will be in dumb and dumbers face almost everyday.

    GO BRANDI

  51. Joy says:

If you value family and children, you don’t have an affair with a married man.

Obviously these people aren’t thinking about children, or oaths, or family, or they wouldn’t do this to them.

The singer should not meet his children, because she could give a crap about them. She cares about only herself.

Women, be good to each other, and stand up for one another. If you date a married man, you are cheating on another family. Some day this may matter to you, like when you get a conscience or wake up and smell the coffee. A man who cheats on his wife is worthless and a woman who cheats with a married man and knows it, is worthless too.

Is this man going to value a woman who cheated on his own family, and her family.

Brandi, keep your head high, you’re the beautiful one.
