Angelina Jolie wrote her book to help the youths fight for their rights globally

When Angelina Jolie started her Instagram over the summer, a lot of us believed it was good timing because she would likely use her IG to promote Marvel’s The Eternals. Many studios love it when their stars are active on social media, it’s great publicity and of course it helps sell the movie. But it really does seem like Angelina started her IG so she could promote the book she wrote, Know Your Rights and Claim Them. It’s a book for kids and young adults, and I think her Instagram is not only “book promotion,” but Jolie’s effort to meet the youths on their level, because youths live on Insta. Angelina posted the above IG – with photos from last week’s book signing – over the weekend with this message:

I’m so inspired by young people around the world who are on the front lines of the struggle for human rights. From protecting the environment to fighting inequality and discrimination, they are stepping in to do the work adults should but so far have failed to do. And in refugee camps and conflict areas globally, children are bearing the burden of the consequences of those bad decisions.

When children and young people have the agency, power and knowledge to speak up, they can change the lives of both young people and adults, helping to achieve a more equal society.

That is the message of our new book, Know Your Rights and Claim them, which was written in consultation with young activists around the world – and is for them, and all the many young people fighting for their rights globally.

I wonder if Angelina is going to pass out free copies of the book while she’s traveling to refugee camps. I wonder if the audience for this book is actually English-speaking Western kids who want to be more politically active and fight for youth rights around the world. In any case, I’m proud of Angelina and I think it’s so cool that she wrote her own version of a “kids’ book.”

One of the attendees of the event is a teacher at Ramona Convent and when Angelina learned about it, she gave her additional copies of the book. She might do a school tour as well for this.

Lifelong Angelina Jolie fan. Really psyched to watch Eternals.
I’ve been in occupations, strikes, rallies, poster design and such. I’ve been blessed to work with some incredible activists. I’m impressed by extracts I’ve read so far. Some included tips I was already aware of. Others included practical tips I’ll keep in mind for my next activist adventure.

I would be highly surprised if schools let her in. Don’t forget, schools have been integral in disseminating white washed history for decades, putting a manual on how to advocate and protest is not going to make the accepted reading list.

    This book would’ve helped me A LOT when I was a kid/teenager.

Reading some of the excerpts I can see it’s not only a very helpful, practical guide for those who want to protest against something, it’s also an anti-bullying guide.

I swear I’d take a bullet for this woman.

Love I have for this woman is immeasurable.
Her kids should be proud of her.
I don’t know what or who she’s doing these days but she’s glowing and radiating.

Her happiness is very evident on her face and gorgeous hair lol

She shows up and does the work so consistently. I just love her for that and I love the cause she chose this time and the fact that she partnered with Amnesty tells you that it’s for global youth.
