Katy Perry & Miranda Kerr posed together at the G’Day USA gala

I always forget that Katy Perry and Miranda Kerr are connected through Orlando Bloom, honestly. Miranda and Bloom share a son, Flynn, and Katy and Orlando have a daughter together, Daisy Dove. So that’s how Katy and Miranda are involved – Katy is basically stepmom to Flynn. While the tabloids tried to make “Miranda vs. Katy” into a thing for a second, by all accounts, the two women have always gotten along. So much so that Katy came out this weekend for the annual G’Day USA Arts gala, an event celebrating the Australian-American arts connection. Miranda received an award from G’Day USA. Katy was the one who presented Kerr with the award, and they posed together sweetly on the carpet.

Katy Perry and Miranda Kerr are two peas in a pod! The singer, 38, and model, 39, walked the red carpet of the 20th annual G’Day USA Arts Gala in Los Angeles on Saturday, where they posed for photographs with one another.

For the night out, Perry — who is engaged to Kerr’s ex-husband, Orlando Bloom — wore a Zimmerman outfit composed of a shiny metallic bralette top that was paired with a matching floor-length ballgown skirt. Kerr, meanwhile, wore a stylish white ruffled strapless dress. She received the Excellence in the Arts award from Perry at the annual event.

During her intro for Kerr, Perry playfully teased their family dynamic, telling audience members, “Some of you might be confused about why I’m introducing Miranda. That doesn’t play into the antiquated narrative of ex-wives and new wives. And yes, it’s true, most of the media would like to see us mud wrestle, including [her husband] Evan [Spiegel], but we are here to lead by love because Miranda is love. And as a lot of you know, love comes in many family iterations.”

Then stating that she is “proud to be family with a woman who is living her truth every day with grace and beauty,” Perry said that Kerr is “dedicated to her three beautiful boys, her partner, and that smoking hot bod…. I’m so grateful for our modern blended family. It’s like I gained another sister, one with whom I usually sidebar from the main family chat and agree with.”

It’s nice? I buy it. I believe that there’s no beef or ill feelings between Katy and Miranda. Kerr and Bloom were over for a while before Bloom met Perry. If anything, they probably bond over Orlando being unworthy of two beautiful, accomplished women (because that’s true). It just occurred to me…have we ever seen Daisy? Let me look it up… okay, Katy and Orlando have never posted photos of Daisy’s face, but there are some paparazzi pics out there. Daisy is a blonde!

Seriously though, how did Orlando manage to get both of these women?

Katy’s dress looks like a trash bag.

  2. Normades says:

I don’t remember when he and Miranda got together but Orlando was hot property for a minute. He had the Pirate movies and lord of the rings…then he did that bad Cameron Crowe film and nothing much happened afterwards. After the breakup Miranda seemed dead set on bagging herself a billionaire.
But Katy, dunno how he bagged her. He always seemed so… messy. Maybe Katy just like mess.

    • Coco says:

Wasn’t their story about Miranda involved with the two Australian men that were a big mess and were fighting? So I would assume she is “messy” also which is probably why they all get along so well.

Some mention below that Miranda had to return jewelry that may have been part of money laundering.

      • Cheryl says:

Miranda absolutely loves mess. I believe the rumour that she hooked up with a young Justin Bieber while still with Orlando, which is why Orlando tried to attack Justin in a club, and then hooked up with Selena Gomez shortly after. They all love mess.

      • Coco says:

        @Cheryl

OMG I forgot about the whole Justin Bieber thing , I just remember back then she was always in the media for being connected to some drama.

Apparently the rumours were already out there (Miranda apparently said to JB, “I’m going to make you a man”) when JB and OB ended up in the same nightspot/restaurant. JB tried to say hi, OB unsurprisingly didn’t want to acknolwedge him, and JB started taunting OB with something like, “She was good.”

OB seems like a nice guy but he’s very bland and Miranda wanted a billionaire (Evan S has recently gone from $12 billion to around $2 billion). She dated that Malaysian fraudster Jho Low, Steve Bing, and James Packer. Definitely not about the looks for her. Aside, she looks flawless and Katy’s dress is just a big no-no.

    • Erin says:

Yeah, Miranda was with him on his rise and when he was at his most in demand and famous and Katy has been with him on his decline. Miranda does seem like she’s always looking for bigger and better because she did have that drama with that billionaire that was engaged to Mariah Carey at one point.

  3. Huckleberry says:

Nice! I like it! Always thought Miranda might be a bit arrogant but both women look genuinely sympathetic here.
I have to admit that I was a DIE HARD Orlando Bloom fan about 20 years ago in the LOTR era! But since then he kind of lost it…

  4. girl_ninja says:

In his younger years Orlando was a hottie boom body. Katy and Miranda are kinda shady no? Miranda had to return $8 million worth of jewelry that may have been part of money laundering. Then of course Katy was so proud to vote for anti-choice Rick Caruso.

  5. Macheath says:

I get what you’re saying but I think that’s a little unfair to Orlando. I’m not usually interested in defending men (they can and do defend themselves plenty!) but Orlando was part of two huge franchises – LOtR and POtC – and has had a decent if waning career. I wouldn’t say either of these women are more or less accomplished than him.

CMIIW, as far as I’m aware I haven’t heard any rumours of him being unkind or unprofessional. So it’s not a stretch that a conventionally attractive, successful man could pull two beautiful accomplished women (men working with far less often do). It’s a tale as old as time.

  6. HeyKay says:

    Macheath, well said.

Orlando was a big deal movie star who seems to have earned a lot of $$ and only works occasionally now. No shade on him for his relationships with these 2 women.
Orlando, Miranda, Katy at one time were all pretty lateral in success/income.
There was no over lapping on anyones part.

Why shouldn’t they all get along? They have children who are siblings, it’s the correct thing.
I don’t like KP outfit at all, btw.

  7. j.ferber says:

I remember that fight between the Australian billionaires for Miranda and it was a doozy, as trashy as all get-out.
One had bare feet, which is a detail I still cherish and the other was bloated. It was a shit show for the ages and I remember it with fondness. Oh, to be old with good memories! So yes, Miranda DID get her billionaire with her current husband and has two young sons with him, 3 and 4 years old, I believe. Everyone got what they wanted? (Except the 2 men in the fight?)

  8. one of the marys says:

Katy’s outfit looks like something out of the original Star Trek for the alien siren that Kirk will get handsy with

  9. Meagle says:

FWIW, everything I’ve heard about Bloom is that he’s a genuinely nice person. My sister met him years ago while both were out walking their dogs in LA; she said he was laidback, friendly, and clearly really loved his dog.

    • Yep says:

I was a huge fan of the original LoTR trilogy and watched all the behind the scenes extras (on DVDs; how quaint) and Orlando always seemed like a really kind and mellow person in the interviews. He’s very bland as an actor though.

  10. msd says:

No shade here. It’s better for kids when everyone gets along so I’m all for these cordial relations.
