For years now, King Charles has had very little to do with the daily operations of his signature charity, The Prince’s Trust. Neither of his sons wanted to take over the trust, and so Charles basically put people in charge to operate it like a business, with a board of directors and regular fundraisers and events hosted by any of the dozens of Prince’s Trust ambassadors. So many celebrities are ambassadors for the trust, including Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Luke Evans, Ant and Dec, etc. Well, Phillip Schofield was an ambassador for the Prince’s Trust as well. In the wake of Schofield’s scandalous relationship with a much-younger man, that ambassadorship is now over. The trust didn’t even fire him outright – they came to a mutual agreement. Face-saving wording for Schofield. Why does he deserve that?
Phillip Schofield has been dropped as an ambassador for The Prince’s Trust after his admission of an affair with a younger male colleague. The charity, founded by the King, said it was “no longer appropriate” for it to work with the presenter. Schofield left ITV’s This Morning last week after two decades as host.
A spokesperson for The Prince’s Trust said: “In light of Phillip’s recent admissions, we have agreed with him that it is no longer appropriate to work together.”
The announcement comes after Schofield admitted to having an “unwise, but not illegal” affair with a younger male colleague on the show. His admission saw him quit all his duties for ITV and be dropped by his talent agency, YMU. It comes as ITV bosses will soon be quizzed by MPs over their handling of the situation at This Morning.
I mean… Charles has always been a terrible judge of character. He was close to Jimmy Savile for decades while Savile was a serial predator of children. Charles was also mentored by Lord Mountbatten, who likely abused children too. I always wonder if all of it is an open secret when you get to the upper echelons of British society – like, Schofield’s (despicable, criminal) arrangement with his victim was in plain sight, and people went out of their way to cover up for him and protect him. Same with all of the other white men in Charles’s orbit.

Charles specifically went to Jimmy Savile and sought his advice on PR and becoming more popular with the public. He was that clueless a) on Savile and b) on integrating with normal people. Apparently even JS himself was surprised at how little he was able to relate to the public.

The man has spent 55+ years surrounding himself with sexual predators, abusers and pedophiles.
I think we need to stop saying he’s a bad judge of character and start admitting that he was hanging around with people who he got along with and shared interests with. He’s not a victim here.
He just never thought his friends would get caught. And their actions might lead back to him.

Agreed, Charles is a terrible judge of character – I think he is a weak man who is susceptible to flattery, and he surrounds himself with sycophants who play to his ego. He was also mentored closely by Laurens van der Post, who was another abuser (he impregnated a 14-year-old when he was in his 40’s).
There’s just so much sleaze surrounding this ghastly family.

Charles hasn’t been hoodwinked, he’s been fine with disturbing behaviors in friends/mentors his entire life.
That whole set around Charles are deviants, predators and perverts. Disgusting.
Ok. Would there be this much outrage if the younger colleague were a female? Which is it? The abuse of power dynamic or the genders involved? Because we seem to be conflating a lot of things in the condemnation of this man, and his sexuality is not the thing to be harping on.
Note: I am only aware of this “scandal” because of this CB post, so I have no idea how old the colleague was, nor their arrangement.
Schofield first met the young man when the young man was about 13 years old, they met at a theater school that the boy was then attending and PS was a patron of, there is a photo of this meeting so not speculation. the boy then starting to follow PS on twitter, the boy was 15 at this stage, PS then got the boy a job as a runner at his morning show when the lad was then 18, this is when the “relationship” started. When PS tired of him, the got the young man moved to another show on the same channel. PS is now 61, and the young man is 26/27 years old. Just some background for those that are not familiar with the story.
Best case scenario this was an older, established, powerful person taking advantage of a junior employee in the workplace, but I think it was grooming and abusive.

Have you seen the Eamonn Holmes interview – he basically hints that the younger man had a drug problem, there has been rumours about Schofields (and Holly’s) recreational drug use for years.
Apparently the young man really loved Schofield and was utterly heart broken when it was ended and how it was ended.

The man running the theater school was once a co-star of PS in a stage play, again meeting when he was a teenager and PS was about late 30’s/early 40’s, questions about that relationship too are coming up online.
PS also has a history of messaging with mid-teen boys (14,15,16 age range) on Snapchat late at night, some of those now men have spoken online about this, saying at the time they thought it was hilarious that this tv presenter would be sending them messages and smiley winking emojis, but now as adults are wondering about his true intentions messaging teens in the middle of the night online. These messages, interactions and mentor ships have a pattern of being teen boys, he never interacts or mentors girls that want to break into his industry.

There is a picture of MM (young man) with one of PS’s business partners (also bizarrely called Schofield but not related).
The picture is from July 2013 when Matthew would have been in his early teens. The picture is all over twitter and entitled ‘The look of love’.

I have seen stories that say Schofield first met this “colleague” when the boy was 10-11 years old. So its not like they just met at work. And yes I think there would be just as much outrage if it were a female victim too.

This is getting ridiculous. Putting Philip Schofield in the same sentence as Jimmy Savile is like putting Harry in the same sentence as Andrew. The cases aren’t remotely similar, as far as we know at the moment. Unless new information comes out, and I’d have thought it would have done by now with the way the media is carpet bombing us with this story, Philip Schofield had one poorly judged relationship. Jimmy Savile was one of the worst sex offenders Britain has ever seen, with his hundreds of crimes extending from children to disabled people to corpses in morgues. Some perspective, please.
A married man has an affair and now can’t be an ambassador for The Prince’s Trust?! Dear me, Daily Fail is foaming at the mouth about ITV cover ups and possible super injunctions. The King and second wife are open adulterers who are lauded by BM. What about if, shock horror, Willy had an affair which was an open secret but super injunction keeps it from the public, then he gets outed canoodling with a younger man or woman will the King sack him too or simply shrug it off as he did when Diana complained to him about his mistress?
For the US based commenters I’d strongly recommend watching a TV show called ‘Line of Duty’.
It deals with the interconnectedness of corruption between the State (Police/ Judiciary and Crime Prosecution Service), Public persons like Charles and TV stars and criminals.
It’s actually quite fascinating and at several junctures touches on the Jimmy Saville issue.
The sad reality is that Charles and Andrew are equally culpable re their association with predators, but Charles gets protected because he was the heir and despite the fact that he has had associations with arguably more predators (Mountbatten, Saville, Bishop Peter Ball, Schofield ect ect).
I also think that Charles hung the axe over Andrews head and let it drop after his father had died and whilst he knew his mother was not long for this world so that he could trade Andrew’s protection for Camilla’s Queen Consort title. That letter apparently showing support from Lilibet Snr was the play all along. Charles and Camilla truly played the long game and were ruthless in their pursuit.
That was (is? are there more seasons to come) a great show!
