Chris Brown tells music industry to “kiss my ass” after his CD is blackballed

Chris Brown, Ben J And Legacy And The New Boyz Perform At The Avalon

Chris Brown is complaining about all the stores refusing to carry his new CD, Grafitti. The 20 year-old convicted felon tweeted that he’s pissed that major stores are “blackballing” his CD and is furiously retweeting fan reports about stores unwilling to sell it. After posting a little curse-filled tirade he refused to delete it or clarify his statement, and wrote “the industry can kiss my ass.” In response to negative tweets, he wrote to detractors that “ur life is pointless”:

im tired of this sh-t. major stores r blackballing my cd. not stockin the shelves and lying to costumers. what the f-ck do i gotta do…

[From Chris Brown’s Twitter]

Brown recently went on 20/20 to issue a half-assed apology for beating Rihanna, without ever admitting to have beaten Rihanna. I initially gave him the benefit of the doubt and said that you could tell he’d changed. He has changed a little, especially compared to his defiant stance on Larry King. As Kaiser pointed out it’s still all about him and how his violent act affects him, not his victim. Never once did he admit what he’d done or say he was sorry for what he’d done. It was always “what happened,” as if he had no hand in it and was just a witness.

After the tweets above, Brown wrote that he went to a Walmart in Wallingford, CT (near his gig on Saturday) and asked the manager why his CD wasn’t on the shelves. The manager had no idea but “they had alicia keys album ready for release for this tuesday comin.” The industry isn’t kissing Brown’s ass – they’re ignoring it, and so are major retailers. He won’t be visiting stores when his next one comes out because he’ll have realized by then that there’s no way he’s going to see his CD in stock. The more Brown acts like an indignant angry hothead the more he’s proving stores right for refusing to carry his music. He’s also sabotaging any chance he might have had at an eventual comeback. Good riddance.

    Peace Out B*tch.

  2. Tia C says:

There should be a picture of him in the dictionary next to the word “dumbass.” He IS the definition! He’s still obviously in total denial about his anger issues. He doesn’t realize that the more hotheaded he acts, the more he is repelling people. Oh, and retailers tend to like to stock items that are actually going to SELL. Dumbass.

Douchebag Squared: Someone who is so much of a douche bag that one cannot just call him/her a “d-bag” or “douche” or just plain old “douche bag.” So you have to multiply douche bag by douche bag to truly define the individual as a super huge douche bag or just aptly put…d-bag squared. I.E.(d-bag^2)
CHRIS BROWN is a douche bag squared(d-bag^2)

  6. diva says:

I personally don’t believe that the stores are not carrying his cd out of some personal vendetta against him. They probaby realize that it is not going to sell and are in the business to make money and are not carrying it. He should stop and consider that his new cd is also awful along with the videos and he shot himself in the foot in every interview. Also releasing his cd around the same time as Rhiana and doing interviews on the same day, made him look like a bigger jackass. This is a case of him not bringing a quality cd to the marketplace, I have heard it and it shouldn’t sell based on that alone.

He’s showing that he’s a changed man by handling this in as ungracious a way as possible? Also, his typo with “costumers” made me laugh.

What a baby. So some stores aren’t selling his CD. Geez, it’s not like he was beaten to a pulp and publicly humiliated…oh wait. Like his girlfriend was.

If we’re supposed to feel sorry for him that stores don’t want to help line the pockets of an abusive jerk with serious anger issues, too bad. There are such awful injustices all over the world, I hardly think this d-bag not getting his CD sold in a store is the great tragedy of 2009.

  16. snowball says:

Other than Wal-Mart, who else is he hallucinating that isn’t carrying his crappy CD? Because Wal-Mart has refused to stock books and music before.

It may have nothing to do with his being a chick beater and more to do with the content of his CD.

Kanye West is more gracious and self-realized than this putz.

  17. Ty Ty says:

I really wish you people would get OVER it already! YES what he did was horrible, but how long are you going to continue bashing him? (I mean, he IS a convited felon which will ALWAYS be on his record, still doing community service, ect) I just think you guys LOVE seeing a young, successful male screw up. No one stopped selling Michael Jackson’s cd’s after he raped little boys! No one stopped selling R.Kelly’s cd’s when he pissed on an underaged girl. SHiT people! It’s time to GET OVER iT! People make mistakes. Rihanna has forgiven him and SHE’S the one who got abused, wth?? Everyone HAS to have an opinion about EVERYTHING..Shut up, grow a sack and worry about YOUR situation..I’m sure shit isn’t peachy keen behind YOUR closed doors. Assholes!

  20. Tia C says:

He is still getting bashed because he is still a douchebag. Once a douchebag, always a douchebag.

@ dancingnanci – funniest thing I’ve read yet today! Not to mention inspirational LOL.

  21. anonymous says:

    @Ty Ty:
With your examples of RKelly and Michael Jackson – didn’t you disprove your own point re: us ‘loving to see a young successful male screw up’? Oh, and Michael Jackson’s career was pretty much over after the trials until his death. No one hears much about RKelly, either. Thankfully.
Oh, and which would you prefer – coming within an inch of being killed by your significant other, or having to do “community service”? Because he’s not like you Ty Ty, his felony conviction isn’t going to affect the rest of his life – he doesn’t need to disclose it on his job applications.

  22. CB Rawks says:

“YES what he did was horrible, but how long are you going to continue bashing him?”

Heh! Good one. How long? Should I ask HIM for advice on how long a good bashing lasts?

Also, I too hate it when people lie to my costumers.

  23. Stella says:

@Ty Ty- I would like to point out one significant difference between Chris Brown, MJ and R. Kelly- MJ and RK weren’t convicted, CB was. I’m not saying MJ and RK didn’t do it… I’m just saying they were both found not guilty in a court of law. And MJ and RK didn’t go all over the place acting like indignit a$$holes while trying to deflect blame and acting like they didn’t understand why people were upset with them… which is one of the biggest problems people seem to have with CB.

  24. Firestarter says:

    LOL@CB Rawks.

  25. ,, says:

Disclaimer: I do NOT support CB. I am not a CB fan. I don’t own a CB album and I certainly WILL NOT be buying the new one. I think he comes off as extremely ignorant and out of touch when he speaks.

However, I do not understand why people still support Sean Penn (who was arrested and charged with abusing Madonna), Josh Brolin (who was accused of abusing his wife Diane Lane), Dr. Dre, and Eminem. Eminem’s relapse sold extremely well yet in the past he has made songs about killing his girlfriend/ex-wife Kim. There are a lot of people in Hollywood who have been accused or charged with assault and battery yet no one seems to care about them. I am just saying that if he’s always going to be a beater, then the same thing should apply to all the other people in Hollywood who at one point beat a woman.

I am not saying that Chris shouldn’t be punished. I am just saying that if we’re going to punish him, we should punish all that are like him as well.

  26. princess pea says:

@ Ty Ty – The thing is… I don’t owe the abusive motherfucker anything, actually. I don’t like his music much; I think a lot of artists are doing the same thing better. I don’t like his person much either, and so I’m not going to spend my money on him. He is the one who rushed a crappy album to the market in order to try and win back respect after beating someone up. Tough titties if people don’t want it… you think we should all go buy an album we don’t want just to make him feel better? Ha.

  27. crash2GO2 says:

HAHAHAHA!!!! I knew it wouldn’t take long for him to show his true colors.

Or for the Chris Brown apologists to show up and try to blame someone other than Chris for ruining his life for that matter.

Where are the posters who couldn’t wait for CB’s album to outsell Rihanna’s and show us all? Mmmmmm?

  28. K-MAC says:

moron…and loving his continual spiral downward

  29. Peach says:

    @CB Rawks:
Hell to the yes. You just cracked my shit up.

    Chris–I mean Ty-Ty–sorry,
Wah. Wah. Chris Brown was never all that interesting. His career, regardless of what he did in his personal life, had an experation date of about 1.5-3 years, tops.

Untalented, recycled, consumer culture hacks may make a few hits. They may dance like an idiot in a commercial or two. But he is an unmemorable, boring, fresh-out-the-factory crooner. Him and a million others have come and gone in less time than it took for me to grow out my bob.

He simply helped it along a few months by acting like scum.

So buh-bye. Don’t let the door hit you on the ass…no…actually, let it.

  30. Lee says:

@dancingnanci: thanks for the morning chuckle! Nicely done. Also, @Peach: in total agreement.

  31. J.D.M.J. says:

    @ dancingnanci

    Too funny!

  32. irishserra says:

    @Snowball: Ha ha..and that’s saying a lot, now isn’t it?

Great point about Wal-Mart routinely not carrying merchandise. Didn’t they refuse to sell a CD by Green Day not too long ago? I don’t think it had anything to do with the guys’ personal lives.

People like TyTy (and Chris Brown, himself) should stop and think about what’s really going on here. Regardless of the man’s record, the fact remains that he is not showing himself contrite in any sense of the word. Any half-assed apology means nothing if it’s not backed up in attitude and actions. To apologize for one’s actions and then downplay them or point the finger and continue to whine about his poor pitiful self – as he clearly has been – does not amount to anything of substance.

So, to answer TyTy’s question, we will stop when CB starts to show some real humility.

  33. Iggles says:

    ,, @:
“I am not saying that Chris shouldn’t be punished. I am just saying that if we’re going to punish him, we should punish all that are like him as well.”

Then what are you saying? Since some abusers “got away with it” then so should Chris? It doesn’t work that way. It’s like arguing that no one should go to jail because some criminals aren’t caught by the cops. If the cops can’t catch *all* of them, then why should *any* go to jail?

Your argument is flawed. Yes hypocrisy happens all the time in the real world. However, does not change the fact that CB is guilty, was convicted, and is still unrepentant. He is getting his just desserts now that he’s beginning to realize his career will never recover. How do you like them apples, Chris?!

  34. juls says:

Chris Brown I liked your music and your movie this chrismas, but the minute you put your hands on a woman, I dislike you and don’t want to to watch your movie, listen to your music, your video or anything about you.

  35. anonymous says:

Not saying this is the reason why, but Wal-Mart often refuses to carry CDs with explicit content unless the artist comes out with a “clean” version. They only carry the clean versions, actually.
And one would assume after that profanity laced tirade, Chris’ CD is no different.
I personally hope this abuser continues to suffer deflated album sales forever. I don’t care if he is banned from stores for profanity or because he is an abuser – whatever keeps him out of stores.
    And LOL at costumers.

  36. ,, says:

Iggles, I am saying that Sean Penn shouldn’t be nominated for Oscars and that Eminem’s CD should be banned from places too.

My argument is that the other abusers shouldn’t be treated nicely, NOT that CB should. I am saying we should hold all abusers to the same standard. I have no problem with the treatment CB is getting and NEVER said that he shouldn’t be getting it because other people aren’t. I said that those people should be getting it too.

You obviously misunderstood my argument because I was in no way arguing for what you said I was.

  37. MsTriste says:

I can think of some other reasons that people are more upset about CB than R Kelly et al.
    1. CB is very young – too young to have already started abusing women.
    2. His victim was Rihanna, who is extremely popular and well-loved.
    3. He not only abused her, he could have killed her. Remember, he throttled her and she had marks around her neck. He could have been tried for attempted murder. That is the thing that puts it over the edge for me.
    4. The timing – he did it on the way home from a big awards show, if my memory serves.

The fact that Walmart won’t carry his CD is strange to me, considering they sell bullets.

  38. Iggles says:

    @ ,,:
“Iggles, I am saying that Sean Penn shouldn’t be nominated for Oscars and that Eminem’s CD should be banned from places too.”

Then I definitely agree with you.
I think Sean Penn, Josh Brolin, Sean Connery, Anthony Michael Hall, and all the other abusers are scum. They should be blacklisted too. I definitely do not support them. But I realize it isn’t a perfect world. However, for what it’s worth I do believe if Sean Penn did what he did to Madonna today in the age of the internet he WOULD be blacklisted too.

A lot of those stars didn’t have their misdeeds publicized and become common knowledge. Not everyone knows about the Madonna thing. Just as not everyone know Sean Connery is a woman-beater. Today hiding something like that is harder — especially if the victim is famous in her own right.

  39. nj says:

Chris needs to shut up. He is not helping himself. Get an advisor- you need one. However, he is hardly the first artist to do something awful, and I think it stinks that everyone is only up in arms because they like Rihanna. If he had hurt some random girl, there would have been zero backlash. The number of music stars, actors, and athletes who have hurt others, broken laws, abused women, and engaged in illegal activity is quite large and I can’t remember the last time there was such outrage. I suspect Jay Z has a hand in it because Rihanna is on his label( and was probably his piece on the side.) This is ironic because Jay was a savage drug dealer but now tries to come off like the grand gentleman. Stupid people buy this act. I have not heard the new cd, only the song Crawl, which I like. I have heard Rihanna’s new songs, and they are shit, but that is not unusual for her. That umbrella song was abusive to my ears. Chris Brown is easily more talented than Rihanna. If you want to ban all violent artists from selling records, fine. But let’s keep it honest and do it fair and square- not only when we happen to care about the victim.

  40. Codzilla says:

“: I totally understand what you’re saying and feel you’ve made a really interesting point. We definitely pick and choose who we’re going to punish in celebrity land. I think the media has a lot to do with it — for example, the CB case got far more attention than Sean Penn’s indiscretions — and also the amount of artistic cred each offender has in the eyes of the public. Then again, I could be totally off base. But the fact that a lot of dickheads get a free pass in the entertainment world is irrefutable.

Regardless, I’m glad CB’s album tanked. One less scumbag to clog up the headlines.

  41. princess pea says:

@ ,,, – I don’t think his CD is actually banned. I think it’s just not being stocked on the shelves or ordered in big numbers… if the store doesn’t expect it to sell, they’re not going to order 300 copies just to put in a markdown clearance bin in a few months.

  42. JILL says:

    ADD CHARLIE SHEEN TO LIST

  43. ,, says:

@ princess pea – You’re right. Banned was the wrong word choice.

All I am saying is if retailers are choosing to not sell the record based on his actions, they should give the same treatment to other stars with the same record of abuse.

  44. Boo says:

“im not biting my tongue about shit else”

Does this seem to anyone else like maybe Chris has been biting his tongue this whole time about all the stuff he’s “had to do”…ie. apologizing? He seems totally unrepentent to me.

Also, an idiot. You walk into a local Walmart to ask the Manager why you CD isn’t stocked? As opposed to, say, having your manager call someone at Walmart HQ to ask that question?

He deserves whatever life sends his way.

  45. Popcorny says:

    Ooooh, that makes Chris soooo mad! {{CRASH!}}
    He wants to beat up the whole music industry, {{PUNCH!}} their lights out and {{KNOCK OUT!}} their teeth for this outrageous offense! {{POW!}}
“What THE F*CK!” {{SMASH!}} after all those PR dog paces he ran for show {{KICK!}} “WTF! KISS MY A$$!!!” {{WAHHHH!WAHHH! “I WANT MYYY MOMMMIE!!”}}.

{{BAM!!!}} …. (-door hitting his unkissed ass on the way out).

  46. Iggles says:

    @ Boo:
Also, an idiot. You walk into a local Walmart to ask the Manager why you CD isn’t stocked? As opposed to, say, having your manager call someone at Walmart HQ to ask that question?

    LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!

Dude, that is so true! He is dumb as rocks.

Also, I’ll reiterate that although it true some douches seem to go unpunished for abusive behavior it has nothing to do with Chris Brown. His chickens are coming home to roost and I do not feel sorry for him in the slightest. I wish everyone got their just desserts. But if we’re going to be selective, CB getting his full karma works for me!

  47. shadowd says:

,,:: I understand what you are saying but here is the jist of our society, we love a good comeback story, we love it just as much we love to tear someone down. Britney Spears is the ideal candidate, we ripped her to shreds when she was down, but we were right with her when she wanted to made her comeback.

When one of “celebrities” fall (depending on what they did) we as a society are willing to forgive, but we do demand a few things for our forgiveness, they must sincerely apologize, show remorse, do something to show they are getting the help they need, and come back better than ever.

Chris Brown failed on all points, he was photographed having “fun” a few days after, he had a pendant made that was not only tasteless but disrespectful to his victim, his apologies were not sincere but rather all about how it affected him, he is not getting any help so this will happen again (which shows he does not care) and finally his album sucked. Now he is showing his rage which only proves he is still the person who would hit a woman.

This is why we do not forgive him.

  48. ,, says:

@ shadowd – I understand what you’re saying. However, at least Britney Spears didn’t abuse anyone. Plus she’s mentally ill. I honestly don’t believe she was in her right mind during any of her public breakdown. I think that’s a different situation entirely.

But I do agree with you that Chris hasn’t done enough to gain forgiveness. When the whole situation happened, I opted to wait for the facts to come out before I formed an opinion. Then he started to speak and my lord, he just sounds so insincere and dumb. I don’t know how anyone could defend him. It’s painfully obvious that he doesn’t understand the severity of his actions and he does always talk about him and how this affects him as if he were the victim.

However, Eminem never made an attempt to apologize or make amends for how he treated his ex-wife. And I could be wrong but I don’t think Sean Penn did either. And that still goes along with what I am saying. There are people who behaved the same way and no one is blacklisting them.

  49. brianne says:

awwwwww pow widlle chwis! the music industry already IS kissing your ass….kissing it GOODBYE that is! good riddance pig!

  50. Peach says:

    @Popcorny–
Oh my god. I just laughed so hard I almost choked on my pizza. That is effing halarious.

    Also:
I think it’s pretty well known that Sean Penn and his ilk are all douches in Hollywood. I mean, it happened so long ago that even if we brought it up today, it has no steam.

But if it happend tomorrow there would be total backlash.

Look at the Polanski stuff. People had pretty much forgotten about him until he was re-arrested. Then it’s all Polanski hate (me included).

That said, I blacklist people in Entertainment for the stupidest of reasons. I hate how they used a word, their song made me mad, they wore a spangled jumpsuit and are not Lady Gaga. These things…so when somebody does something as heinous as almost killing their girlfriend…I have no problem making them dead to me.

  51. Anna says:

That’s gotta be some of the best news this year. Glad they aren’t giving this bastard any shelf-life. Merry Christmas to Rihanna! Karma is a biatch, ain’t she?

  52. diva says:

It would really help if any of you actually heard his cd and saw his videos and then you would see for yourself that he did not produce a quality cd that is worth buying. @TY TY This is not about race, so pulling the race card has no place in this equation. Ultimately it is all about the music and he just didn’t bring it, case closed, by someone who has actually heard the cd and is a former music industry executive.

  53. hmm says:

I can only guess from the tenor of those posts by CB that the lessons in anger management have not kicked in yet. I have to admit that I laughed uproariously imagining CB and his manager running from store to store looking for his cd and not finding it. Later, it occurred to me that he has an air of entitlement that is really annoying. He believes because he gave his half assed apology tour about “the situation” that his record should be wiped clean, literally and figuratively. In life everyone needs to learn that there are consequences for our actions and he is not exempt because he’s a famous singer. And to all the CB stans who crowed over Rihanna’s disappointing sales (181 K) all I can say is that karma’s a bi*ch.

  54. nj says:

I said my piece and stand by it, but I must admit there are some very very valid and well-thought out rebuttals here that I did not consider. I do not know if the cd is good or bad. It IS a different era, and this incident was recorded and documented in a way that was impossible in other cases years ago. CB IS acting like a loudmouth and needs to realize that if people are not ready to forgive and forget, he needs to do something different. Throwing tantrums is not going to fix this. This is why I read Celebitchy-okay, its celebrity gossip but nearly everyone who weighs in with an opinion has something intelligent to say.

  55. loca says:

The costumers? CUSTOMERS?? What a moron.

  56. Mirdeb says:

Chris Brown… SHUT THE F#$K UP!!! Get help bro…

  57. yae says:

He should have gotten to work openly and feverishly to help troubled teens from domestic violent homes.

He could have repaired some of the damage.
His PR people suck……as does his ego.

  58. Schmoopie says:

I agree with yae. Take away any indigation I feel for him as man who beat the living hell out of a woman he supposedly loved – a crime to which he confessed and was convicted – and I still have to say that any consequences he is having in his career are due to the fact that he has made all the wrong moves since word of it hit the press. I honestly think he was arrogant enough to think he could get Rihanna to forgive him, and naive enough to think that would make it go away in the public’s opinion. He must have been advised by people who thought this was a ‘private matter,’ or else he is ignoring the advice he has been given.

  59. Erin says:

hahahaha! (pointing finger) karma is a bitch!

  60. ASH!! says:

GOODBYE! I mean really i don’t feel sorry for him and he doesn’t deserve my money or my support he’s an ASS! and a ham. He really thinks that things can go back to the way they where before. And after what he did i’m ignoring his ass and his CD and his music videos.

  61. GatsbyGal says:

Haha, this is amazing news. Sometimes I love the world.

  62. la chica says:

Congrats to Walmart et al. Who knew they could see beyond profit margins. I am impressed. I have NO respect for ANYONE who buys this CD.

Chris should have done like Kanye and disappeared for a while. He chose not to. Deal with the consequences idiot.

  63. Shay says:

The sad part is I’m running into teen girls who are ranting and raving as if Chris’s personal rights have been violated. I’m seeing a lot of “so what if he did that to her it was so long ago” type of comments that it’s making me ill. One girl even said that what Walmart was doing was illegal. I wish he’d go away so these twats can have someone else to gush over.

  64. gg says:

Keep on flappin the gums, Chris, you’re just laying out more rope for the hangman, dumbass!

  65. Firestarter says:

Craziest thing. I went to Target to get Chris’s new cd, and after I had all but given up and decided on a Chrsity Lane cd instead, there Chris’s cd’s were , in the Gospel section!

  66. Ursula says:

Firestarter, are you serious? You are not making this stuff up? LOL. Really funny.

CB should know that there is something ugly about him after beating a woman. Some one give him a PR agent.

  67. Firestarter says:

@Ursula- I was just making a joke. Poster Dancingnancy said she works at Target and she sticks his cd’s in the gospel section of the cd department.

Give her the credit for being a funny gal!

  68. elisa says:

Hey, it was hard to find Amerie’s CD (GREAT music btw) and I didn’t see her complain. She also didn’t have much promo, and Amerie’s much more deserving than CB. So shut up Chris!

  69. gg says:

    lol, Firestarter

  70. ! says:

nj– “If he had hurt some random girl, there would have been zero backlash.”

    False.

  71. forreal? says:

if I was chris b I would tell all you haters to suck a fat one! as if him and him alone – this kid- is the reason behind domestic abuse! men have done it for centuries- still are and still will. And it won’t be because chris brown did it either… by no means am I condoning it, but to make him the poster child for dv is wrong. and will you people quit trying to paint chris brown like he’s damn ike turner- has anybody ever seen what’s love got to do with it??? BIG HUGE difference in that and what chris and rihanna went through.

  72. p3rp3tu4 says:

“Nananana nananana Hey HEY HEY GOODBYE!”

  73. Maria says:

All he ever does is apologizes. Im sick and tired of hearing his apologies. everyone is so worried about Rhianna and how she is doing. She somewhere right now talking about sex and taking off her clothes. Is that the role model you want for your kids? He made a mistake and she is currently making hers. Why are you not upset that this is the example that she is setting for your girls. His career may be over her career is just beginning. The fact that you all want to see his life forever be ruin by one night sickens me. Many of you are smacking your wife around right now. Not to mention what you may have done when you were 20 yrs old. He did admit to hitting her, over and over again. Here is a question how many times does he have to apologize so you can feel better? What does he have to do so that you can feel like a better person for tearing down a boy? Because that’s is exactly what he is, a boy. Not to mention that cycles of abuse run in his family. It’s not right but it’s what he knew. He is now getting help which is the best thing that he can do. So GET A LIFE AND KISS HIS ASS!!
