Rielle Hunter, John Edwards’ mistress, is mounting a legal battle against a sex tape her former housemate and Edwards’ aid, Andrew Young, claims to have stumbled on in a box of belongings Hunter left behind. Young was previously ordered by the court to hand over the tape, which was secreted in a safety deposit box in Altanta. The tape showed a then-pregnant Hunter having sex with Edwards, according to statements Young made in a tell-all book and subsequent publicity tour. Hunter denies that she was pregnant in the tape, though, and in the latest rebuttal to Young she says that she also cut the tape with scissors before she left to try and render it unwatchable. Maybe she just should have taken it with her.

Hunter filed a second affidavit and accuses Young’s who’s tell-all account of the affair and conspiracy is topping best-seller lists of lying when he was interviewed on ABC Nightline.
Hunter stated: “That video was on a Mini-DV cassette and I mangled and cut the tape to prevent any person from ever seeing it. I know when and where the video recording shown on the VHS copy was made. I recognized that location when I viewed the VHS copy of the video.
“I was not pregnant in September 2006 and the VHS copy of the video does not show a pregnant woman.”
“Any statement that the video was made in 2007 is false. Any statement that the video shows a pregnant woman is false.”
Hunter, who bore Edwards’ daughter Frances Quinn, which The ENQUIRER first reported in a bombshell world exclusive also claims Young stole photographs of her many of which appear in his book and that he is using both the sex tape and photos “to make money”.
Young has previously said he found the sex tape in the trash of the home where Hunter had been hiding out.

Last year, we heard that Hunter might be planning a one-on-one interview with Barbara Walters to set the record straight on her affair with the then-married onetime Vice Presidential candidate. That news was in the Enquirer which broke the John Edwards story and had many insider details on the case. The interview never happened, though, and we’ve heard nary a word from Hunter since the scandal broke over two years ago. Newsweek, (via Gossip Rocks) has an editorial praising Hunter for her “quiet dignity” in holding her tongue and not granting a single interview or selling her story. I don’t know, I wouldn’t praise a mistress for not seeking the spotlight, but I guess it’s progress compared to the press conferences that Tiger’s hookers are holding. Ten to one some of the cash that Edwards is giving her comes with serious gag orders attached. The guy is a lawyer after all.

Here is a random thought.
I believe that numerous people, that are in the Young “camp”, has stated that it is a obviously pregnant woman in the tape. Which to me implies they have all viewed the tape. *shudder*

Oh and his wife knew he was a dog. She made the decision long ago to put up with it.
It was more important to her to be Mrs. Edwards. And was not about to let someone run her off.

I just finished Young’s book. Rielle did cut the film up, but Andrew taped it back together. They rented a 20K per month mansion in Montecito next to Oprah, and she lived/LIVES an extravagent lifestyle thanks to Edwards… that’s a bigger payday than any of Tiger’s bimbos get. Poor Elizabeth

Seriously, I cut it up and left it behind thinking no one would put it back together? That’s the worst excuse I’ve ever heard. If she really wanted to destroy it, there are better ways (fire comes to mind) and leaving it behind was just asking for it to come out. Maybe that was the plan all along. Yuck on this whole story.

1st of all she’s talking to Extra. Extra! Where’s the dignity in that?!
2nd of all, there’s no dignity in boffing a married man, I don’t care how much he’s worth. There are unmarried men who also have a high net-worth, ladies, if that’s the route you choose.
3rd of all, DO NOT MAKE A SEX TAPE IF YOU DON’T WANT IT TO BE SEEN! No matter what you think or what you say after the fact to defend it, it is never a good idea. I haven’t heard of anyone who made a sex-tape that DIDN’T become public, so these chicks must have the IQ of a box of rocks. No offense to any rocks out there.

If there existed a video tape that could destroy my life, I would crack the plastic case open with a hammer. I would then pull out all of the tape and I would set it on fire. I would stand and watch it burn until only ashes were left. I would flush the ashes in the toilet. Lastly, I would smash the plastic case into tiny pieces and put the pieces into different trash bags. This whole process would take 10 minutes, but it would preserve future happiness. Is life really so hard to figure out?

Thats so funny! She just cut the tape and figured no one would work out how to tape or glue the pieces back?!/ What an idiot. Back in day, years and years ago I had a cassette player that would always eat my tapes. I would just calmly take the bit that was torn and glue them back! Presto! Even at seven years old I knew how to do that!
And for her whole quiet dignity shtick, I bet she’s just hedging her bets to become someone else mistress or wife later on down the road. So if a ‘Johns’ hesitant about starting a fling with her, she can just remind him ‘Dont worry, if this ever gets out, Ill keep my mouth shut! See?’.

I think the sex tape should be shown. If this woman [and I use that term loosely] is STUPID enough to
1) have sex with a married man
2) get pregnant by a married man
3) make a freakin sex tape [with a married man]
and 4) LEAVE IT BEHIND WHERE PEOPLE COULD FIND IT
then I think she has every right to be humiliated and deserves it. If she didn’t want it shown or didnt want the embarrassment, she should never have had the affair and made the tape to begin with.

@hatsomomo- I’m laughing out loud because we as second graders were smarter than Rielle. A tiny piece of scotch tape works too. I have tapes from 1983 that still work even with a patch job from eight-year old me.
Rielle, I suppose, did not think that in 2009 with all the technology and businesses devoted solely to restoring old photographs and video tapes, something could be done to fix a cut video.
