The ICE Gestapo’s tactics are getting more horrific with each passing day. We now know that ICE agents can “meet their quotas” simply by arresting/detaining people, regardless of their immigration status or citizenship. The arrest or detainment does not have to result in deportation or charges for ICE to get “credit.” Which is why ICE agents have just been arresting and picking up random people, protesters and citizens. They’ve even been stopping, detaining and arresting children to meet their quotas. And now ICE claims they have broad authority to enter private homes without a judge’s warrant:
Federal immigration officers are asserting sweeping power to forcibly enter people’s homes without a judge’s warrant, according to an internal Immigration and Customs Enforcement memo obtained by The Associated Press, marking a sharp reversal of longstanding guidance meant to respect constitutional limits on government searches.
The memo authorizes ICE officers to use force to enter a residence based solely on a more narrow administrative warrant to arrest someone with a final order of removal, a move that advocates say collides with Fourth Amendment protections and upends years of advice given to immigrant communities.
The shift comes as the Trump administration dramatically expands immigration arrests nationwide, deploying thousands of officers under a mass deportation campaign that is already reshaping enforcement tactics in cities such as Minneapolis.
For years, immigrant advocates, legal aid groups and local governments have urged people not to open their doors to immigration agents unless they are shown a warrant signed by a judge. That guidance is rooted in Supreme Court rulings that generally prohibit law enforcement from entering a home without judicial approval. The ICE directive directly undercuts that advice at a time when arrests are accelerating under the administration’s immigration crackdown.
This is flatly unconstitutional, a sweeping violation of the Fourth Amendment. Alongside this new “guidance” or whatever we’re calling it, a judge has lifted an injunction blocking ICE from using pepper spray on peaceful protesters. The judge says ICE can now pepper spray protesters AND arrest them. Additionally, the Minneapolis police chief spoke out this week, saying that ICE has repeatedly clashed with local law enforcement, and they even stopped, blocked in and aggressively questioned an off-duty cop.

Every state in America recognizes the castle doctrine. ICE is about to find out just how many guns are in private ownership in the US. I live in a southern state and I wouldn’t walk across someone’s lawn much less kick down their door.
That’s the Brooklyn Park chief, not Minneapolis, but it’s everywhere. They have cancelled the 4th amendment and also the 6th (right to counsel) and the 8th (prohibition of cruel and unusual punishment). Every day here in Minnesota is a relentless assault on ordinary citizens just going about their business. Many of us have stopped going out altogether except for essentials. And it’s destroying businesses and the economy. But not going out won’t save you from harassment and humiliation. Over the weekend, an elderly Hmong gentleman was dragged from his home out in the freezing cold in just his boxer shorts. It was a case of mistaken identity but they wouldn’t take his ID or even listen to him and his family. I don’t know if they had a valid warrant, but even if they did, it was for another person. At least they brought the man home after it was straightened out rather than dump him in the woods. Someone will die from hypothermia if they continue dumping people in the woods.
I forgot to include that they’ve also cancelled the 1st amendment since they are now charging people for criticizing these police state tactics.
Police in Florida are showing up at people’s houses to question them about their Facebook posts. F*ck Facebook, but you still have the right to criticize the actions of elected officials there and anywhere else.
Horrifying, just horrifying. I also watched a video where the masked gunmen had a protestor on the ground, were in the process of cuffing him, and another masked gunman walked over & sprayed pepper spray straight into his eyes. Absolutely vile. Absolutely illegal. I’m contacting my reps & senators AGAIN this week to plead with them not to fund this government if it includes $$ for ICE.
And this is causing dangerous fear. My tenants’s parents are all South Asians with green cards who come several times a year for long periods of time – they will eventually all retire in the US. They’re being hassled about their status constantly now, one of the moms has gone to 3 interviews in the past year because ICE keeps losing her paperwork, and they’re hearing stories about people being dragged out of houses by ICE agents who aren’t in uniform. They’re being told not to open doors and stay away from windows. One set of parents is here visiting now while he does a lecture series at Harvard Medical and she does another paperwork round with ICE. A few minutes ago, I heard a noise in my front hall, looked down and she was crouched down below the front door so she couldn’t be seen through the window. Meanwhile, her husband was down on the floor of the front room, peering through the curtains at the street. I could see three firefighters standing on my porch. She was afraid to open the door to the fire department. I calmed her, told they were safe, they’re here legally, I’m a lawyer, we’re in a sanctuary city, it’s the fire department and I know why they’re here. (new heating system inspection) While 2 of the guys went to the basement for inspection, the third stayed up to do paperwork with me, chat with her, and play with one of the cats (the one who bites). Our neighborhood is majority immigrants. He told us the fire department and EMTs are encountering lots and lots of very frightened people who are afraid to open the doors even though they’re in full gear with identification all over them. This is perilous when people are too frightened to open the door to firefighters and EMTs, the people who are there to help.
Heating system passed inspection and we told him he could take the biting cat because she seemed to like him and let him hold her, which she won’t let us do. Biting cat is still here.

People keep celebrating the district court judges who are actually trying to uphold the law with their orders, but these are not victories. Their rulings are just going to be overturned by the appeals court. Republicans have spent decades hijacking the appeals courts and SCOTUS for precisely this purpose. It’s the fascism playbook. Take over the courts to give the fascists the illusion of legitimacy.

If ICE gets away with these obvious violations, being able to enter private homes with impunity, can searching the homes be far behind? And if they get away with that, how soon before the regular police do it routinely? When questioned about it, the cops would just use some of the language in the almighty “memo”, which we all know supersedes the Constitution, to excuse their violations. I would say “slippery slope” but we that the slope done slipped and it’s just a matter of how far down we go.

It’s no coincidence that this administration keeps saying its policies are “American First;” that’s a KKK slogan.

Yes what the 2nd amendment really says is that if the federal government goes batshit crazy and starts killing its own people, the people have a right to form a militia and fight. It’s been so grossly misinterpreted as just “I CANZ HAS GUNZ!” They’ll honor feeding this obsession with guns to please the gun lobby but we won’t be protected by law for fighting against a government that shoots us in the face. Not under this administration.
Have you noticed that when the courts are corrupt and someone has no intention of upholding the law, people are defenseless. There’s so much talk about amendments and the constitution, yet no one can actually stop them. In three years, the death toll from this sick government will be many times greater, and it’s unclear whether it will end there, because many people want this state of affairs to last forever.
Let’s face it, ICE agents can do whatever they want now – memo or no memo – with zero consequences. There are no laws or rules governing them. We have entered a very dark time.

This is a concentrated effort to get people to be violent, so that they can declare them insurrectionists and the military will be called out to stop the protests, etc. All of this is horrific, but violence has to be off the table–well, if a homeowner is armed and masked, armed men break into your house, all bets are off.
