Nicola Peltz (Beckham) has always been slender. I assume it’s just her genes, plus her Instagram has always been full of gym photos and exercise stuff. She seemed like she probably has a pretty healthy lifestyle, and in interviews, she’s talked about how her husband always cooks for her and makes sure she’s eating well. But around Christmas, her Instagram photos started to look different. She’s lost a dramatic amount of weight in recent months, and her face, arms and waist look downright gaunt. I thought the weight loss could possibly be blamed on stress, especially given the situation between Brooklyn Beckham and his parents. But after too many people commented on Nicola’s weight loss on Instagram, Nicola’s team released this to People Magazine:
On Jan. 28, Nicola Peltz Beckham, 31, posted a series of Instagram photos with her husband Brooklyn Peltz Beckham, 26, during a cozy getaway in the wake of Brooklyn’s bombshell claims against his parents, David and Victoria Beckham. But most of the comments on the post were not about the family feud, and instead focused on Nicola’s thinner-than-usual appearance.
A source tells PEOPLE the weight loss is because of her upcoming role in the ballerina film Prima, which Peltz will star in alongside Faye Dunaway, Mira Sorvino and Jack Huston.
“She’s undergone a physical transformation and intense workout regimen for her role in Prima, where she portrays a prima ballerina,” the source explains. (Film producers did not respond to request for comment.)
According to the press release for Prima, the film follows the story of Margo (Peltz Beckham), a dedicated prima ballerina raised by her disciplinarian and “guardian of the art” grandmother (Faye Dunaway). Things begin to unravel when the head of her ballet company (Jack Huston) marries a contemporary choreographer (Betty Gabriel), disrupting the company’s tradition and igniting a quiet, atmospheric power struggle that threatens the very future of the institution.
Peltz’s transformation is not the first time an actress has had to physically change to play a ballerina. For 2010’s Oscar-nominated Black Swan, directed by Darren Aronofsky, the two lead actresses, Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis, trained endlessly and adhered to a strict diet.
Weird to bring up Black Swan, since we found out later that Darren Aronofsky basically CGI’d Natalie Portman’s face onto an actual ballerina’s body (Sarah Lane) for many of the ballet scenes. But that’s not the point! The point is that Nicola has lost weight for a job! In all of this Peltz-Beckham controversy, I have to admit, I don’t think I’ve ever seen Nicola in anything? Is she any good? Is she a good enough actress to play a stressed-out ballerina in a ballet drama?? Hm. Anyway, I hope the weight loss is just for a job and she goes back to her much healthier-looking figure soon enough.

I’ve only seen clips of her self-financed, directed and written project which she was terrible in. It was poverty porn where she plays a drug addicted stripper with a strict Christain mother who is abusive twoards her non binary younger sibling who Lola protects. It is such a disgusting mismatch of poverty tropes, you know whoever made it can’t be a good person.
However, she does look good on screen even if she is not taleneted. I wonder if a better writer or director could place her in a small role more suited to her capabilities?
The only thing that I’ve seen her in was the M Night Shyamalan Last Airbender movie and the less said about that the better. She was really young though, so I can’t really speak to her acting talent.
I do wish we would stop having people lose weight or gain weight for roles that it really isn’t going to have a much impact on the performance. From the previous photos I don’t see why she wasn’t in the shape where she could have played a ballerina already. Maybe tone up differently because of different exercises and areas of the body that would indicate that job, but she didn’t look like she needed to lose weight.
I agree. I have been up close to ballet dancers and whilst they are slim there is also clear muscle definition. She just looks very skinny. Why not take classes and get the look that way, or hire someone who already has a dance background.
Still a Maga Billionaire nepo baby brat
Yup.
She was in a few episodes of Bates Motel. I don’t particularly remember thinking her acting was bad, but she certainly didn’t leave an impression. However, considering the very talented cast she was working with, it would take a lot for her character to stand out.
Was Margaret Qualley not available for this role? She is a good actress and highly trained ballerina.
Is this one also being financed by her father? She is surrounded in this one by two oscar winners, so the fact that she has the starring role–and that they didn’t pick someone like Qualley who is a working actress–is a little suspicious.
This is the IMDB listing to mull over.

I’m not in research mode at the moment, but I suspect this is a last-ditch billionaire vanity project for Nicola financed by Dear Old Dad.
Faye Dunaway may be an Oscar winner, but perhaps not the best risk as far as a cast member at age 84, and perhaps a bit out of it? She was the reason for that Oscar Best Picture snafu (2016-2017), mistaking “La La Land” for “Moonlight”. (Poor Warren Beatty!)
Nicola has initiative though, I’d have to hand it to her. Perhaps she can shift her energy to charitable foundation mode and distribute Daddy’s’ dollars to the needy 99.9%?
Hey, I can dream….
