It took the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s surprise trip to Jordan for me to see what a lot of Sussex-defenders have been saying for weeks. The general conversation is that the British media is absolutely desperate to tie Prince Harry and Meghan to Prince Andrew in any way, shape or form. Like, I knew that the British media longed to use Meghan and Harry as scapegoats yet again, and use them to deflect from the Andrew horrors. But it wasn’t until now that I’m seeing the absolute insanity and desperation at play. Take, for example, the Daily Mail’s tendency to nitpick every single item worn by Meghan. On Tuesday, Meghan was literally meeting with refugee kids, and she was dressed down on purpose, in chinos and a simple top. How can they make that about Andrew? Behold, the Daily Mail’s headline: “Down-to-earth Duchess! Meghan has no time to worry about creased trousers as she proudly focuses on her work in Jordan – with no entourage and no 6ft ironing board like Andrew’s valet used to carry around.” That headline is a whole journey. So is the story:
Meghan Markle proved just how truly down-to-earth she is today as she joined Prince Harry for their two-day visit to Jordan. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex met young Syrian refugees as they watched a music class at the QuestScope youth centre at Za’atari refugee camp near Mafraq, and took part in a football session.
For the outing – their second of the day after attending a roundtable discussion in Amman with people from the United Nations and many of its agencies, diplomatic representatives and donors – Meghan ditched her all-white suit for a more casual look. The mother-of-two opted for a pair of wide-leg high-waisted trousers, cinched at the waist with a belt and a matching short sleeved T-shirt, as well as a white shirt which acted as a jacket when the former actress was in the class.
With no entourage (Meghan is known to largely style her own hair, makeup and wardrobe), and likely no 6ft ironing board of her own like Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor preferred to have on hand, the Duchess’s trousers understandably looked creased. But Meghan clearly had no time to worry about the rogue wrinkles as she instead proudly focused on her important work in Jordan.
Further proving where her focus lay, the Duchess appeared to keep the creased trousers as part of her third outfit of the day, only changing her T-shirt for a smarter black blouse featuring statement shoulders.
While it’s thought Meghan prefers to style herself whenever possible, not all members of the Royal Family are as humble. Former diplomat Simon Wilson told the 2023 ITVX documentary called The Real Crown how Prince Harry’s uncle Andrew, who was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of misconduct in public office, insisted on taking his own ironing board on a trade mission in 2002. The former Duke of York was in Bahrain when he was Special Representative for International Trade and Investment. Mr Wilson said: ‘Prince Andrew always brought a large entourage with him. A private secretary, an equerry, a valet, a lady clerk and a business adviser. We were shocked when a 6ft ironing board was trying to be negotiated into one of the embassy cars. I asked the valet and said, “this is insane”. And the valet’s reply was, “no one knows how to iron his Royal Highness’s trousers like me”.’
I’m speechless. That’s how demented they are. That’s how nakedly desperate they are to associate Meghan and her husband’s awful, degenerate uncle. The thought process is bonkers. Hey, Meghan’s pants are creased, but we don’t want to look psychotic by screaming about her wrinkled pants at a refugee camp, so let’s make this about Prince Andrew’s ironing board….?” If that’s all it takes, I look forward to similar stories being written about the Princess of Wales, Prince William, and all of them. “Kate steps out in a blue coatdress, unlike that one time Andrew wore a black suit.” “William hunched his shoulders awkwardly at an event, remember how Andrew always stood up straight?”
Additionally, I wanted to point this out for any tantrum-prone princelings currently having a meltdown about this Jordanian trip: apparently, Britain’s ambassador to Jordan, Philip Hall, released a statement thanking the Sussexes. He directed his comment to Harry and Meghan, saying: “Your visit, your support, your appreciation of the efforts that the United Nations, including of course, the World Health Organisation, the government of Jordan and others, are making here is enormously appreciated.”

Insane and desperate comparisons aside…
“Lady clerk…” wtf is that?
Also, his valet is an idiot. You do not need a 6-foot ironing table to properly iron pants. I have a six-foot ironing table and industrial iron in my studio because I need to iron large pieces of fabric and it’s easier to lay it all out. When I was a professional wardrobe person and ironed pants as part of my job everyday, a 4-foot ironing table or board was sufficient for the pants of even the tallest man. Andrew’s pants are not six feet long. I’m also assuming that Andrew’s pants were likely done with a pants press/industrial iron combo before they were packed. If they were packed properly they would only need touching up with a good domestic steam iron when they were unpacked.
Keen looked sloppy at many events with the large wigs and not so great outfits. Scooter does not dress well, but never mind, the DM focuses on the Sussexes. And now Andrew must be mentioned in it too when it comes to Meghan article.
Lol what an inane article. It doesn’t matter how many ironing boards you pack though or how many times you iron those trousers, they will still crease and wrinkle. Why I don’t wear them, it’s inevitable! I just personally don’t like the way it looks on me (also I am not as crisp and styled on the top as Meghan is, so I just generally look messy in these kinds of pants lol). But, Meghan looks lovely. I’m sure she knew they’d wrinkle at some point during the day and didn’t care.
The mental gymnastics to connect Meg to the pedo through her lack of an ironing board and entourage! How unhinged do you have to be for that crazy ass thought process!! Seek help!!!
Omg I’m laughing because after reading that my first thought was “the mental gymnastics to actually put this article together is beyond my comprehension”.. glad I wasn’t the only one.
She’s at a refugee camp, unless her clothes were totally inappropriate for where she was and what she was doing who cares? These tenuous Andrew links are also not really going to do what they want them to.
I think it would be a mixed bag trying to use this humanitarian trip as a distraction, because all it does is highlight what the others aren’t doing. Yes they can crow about Meghan’s fashion, who they meet with or don’t meet with, or how much it costs, but those are all questions that can be asked about the BRF as well.
If they want to show that they just keep calm and carry on, this is the type of stuff that the heir and the heir’s wife should be doing. They should be out there working, making an impact( because that’s why they do less work than anyone else right?), highlighting global causes. Not going to the umpteenth sports event, or to an award show where they admit they haven’t watched almost any of the nominated movies.
This is just spotlight number 10 for the public to question, these are the guys that we’re supposed to hate? These are the ones that we won’t support in any means, but we’re still financially supporting the one that was just perp walked? So yeah the media may think that this is a good distraction, but I really don’t think it is for them. It just further highlights the pointlessness of the entire endeavor.
“ironing board” was a euphemism for massage table and all of the UK media now knows this; which makes this reporting all the more insidious and disgusting.
That’s what I had heard, that it was really a message table. They can’t even be honest with that. How do these writers live with themselves?
Ughh, I had not thought of that, now I’m queasy..
I’ve often noticed how the BM and British commenters slam Meghan or her children for wearing natural fabrics that are somewhat wrinkly. It reminds me of visiting my cousins in England and how perplexing I found it that a big part of their day, every day was spent ironing. They would even iron kids clothes. I think it’s a cultural thing. It’s not that we Americans don’t iron clothes but we aren’t as obsessed with it. As far as Andrew is concerned, he can stuff his 6 foot “ironing board” up his you know what.
At least Meghan wasn’t greeting refugees through a chain link fence, like the Waleses during their Caribbean tour, which was so widely and rightly roasted they’ve mostly refused to ever leave the UK again, unless for vacation or to make middle east arms deals for daddy. After all, someone needs to bring home Charles’ suitcases of cash and gaudy necklaces for Camilla…
These people must truly feel so stupid and wasting their journalism away. You cannot convince me someone writes such crap and feels good about it.
How dare Philip Hall, who works for the crown say something nice about Harry and Meghan. William will ensure that he gets the sack.
Phillip’s comment felt more like the Crown & govt trying to take credit for the private citizen humanitarian work H&M are doing. Their wording is similar to that used with “working royals on a royal tour”.
Except they aren’t working royals by the Crown’s design. So they can piss off with the taking credit.
This is Chuck using the Foreign Office to ride the coattails of his exiled son and DIL.
Service is Universal, Chuck… and H&M are doing more actual good than your whole left behind family.
I LOVE the creased pants. It’s an easy deflection. Oh look at who doesn’t travel with a team of people?
Charles needs his spotlight, his pricey suits, his valets. No competition to the King and the consort since Charles has a conniption about those things.
This “ironing board” reach to link Andrew to the Californian philanthropists is this reporter’s pathetic attempt at projection. It didn’t come out of nowhere. S/He lifted the reference directly from a Sussex Squad member’s post which referenced a critical article which Emily Andrews had written about William and Kate, saying that they were treating the taxpayer-funded tour like a personal holiday.
It was Wiliam and Kate who travelled “with entourage and 6ft ironing boards like Andrew’s valet used to carry around”. The article was headlined: “Wills and Kate’s royal tour of India and Bhutan more like £270k private hol… and you footed the bill”. It’s the same old “Every accusation is a projection” routine. William and Kate do something and get bad coverage for it, so the stenographers bend over backwards to tie this thing to H+M… and now, to the degenerate uncle. The crisis manager must have seen the reports discussing the similarities between William and Andrew and launched this pre-emptive cleanup.
This is how you (once again) can tell that those lazy reporters just sit around mining Sussex fan’s posts to create (negative) articles about them.
@Magdalena – thanks for the ‘historia’ explanation. I’m so tired of the DailyFail, I usually don’t even read those stories. I also suspect, like other commenters have said, that the ‘ironing board’ was actually a massage table for Randy Andy.
The DM is unhinged and desperate.
The UK press and some of the royals are really losing it over this trip. Someone on Twitter counted over 80 articles in the Daily Mail just today, mostly centered on Meghan of course. Sone of them are wild and just as ridiculous as this ironing board story. They actually tried using the they were snubbed by the king “ angle, even though they met other Jordanian royals, that’s not the point of this trip, and being invited by WHO is impressive in and of itself. You can see in the photos how emotional some aspects of this trip are and so glad they are highlighting these organizations.
OMG. This has been an excellent visit. British media, for the most part appear to be once again utterly incompetent. Since they are incapable of proper reporting, they need to STFU. Period.
