This Lindy West situation is my second favorite drama this week. Anyone here to talk about that? I did watch Shrill and really liked it, but I haven’t followed her as a writer, nor am I feeling especially tempted to read her new memoir. I’m eating up the articles and comments, though.
Yea I didn’t follow her writing but have been following the story. KD on Pajiba as usual has great write ups and also wrote about the writer of Eat Pray Love (mess). It’s really sad actually. You get a sense that the first novel was about loving herself and finding love then with this new book it’s a justification for letting said person cause her a lot of pain (in excepting a poly relationship).
Thanks for jumping in on this topic! That’s my impression, as well. I see the comments saying people are just looking for an excuse to slam poly relationships, but then her own description makes it sounds like she’s basically housemates with her husband and his girlfriend, who he was already sleeping with before discussing poly with his wife – in what was basically an ultimatum (I won’t even get into the arguments he used).
Yea his “reasons“ are just awful. I think she wrote that the 2 sleep together and she sleeps apart. Plus I think they all live in the house SHE paid for. Just no.
I must say I cannot imagine any REAL First Lady going along with this stunt. But for Melania, it’s perfect. She can walk the runway, smile fleetingly and say nothing (I’m talking about Melania). The robot does the talking and I expected it to be in Melania’s voice, which I was looking forward to, but alas, no. So what frigging sense does any of this make? None. Again, if it’s supposed to help children, does that mean human teachers (I’m a retired teacher) will no longer be needed? Robots collect no salary, get no medical benefits and no vacations. They are the ideal teachers for the administrators of any school (you know, the ones who don’t teach). And how are these robots going to interact with children? And why? Don’t humans need to interact with other humans? This is beyond me and seems (is) stupid as hell. Another distraction from Epstein? Underwhelming, but a good use of Melania’s time, since she does nothing normal first ladies would do.
Wait, isn’t the Dept of Education being dismantled? So what’s the point of a teacher robot with no one to work for? Probably just a stunt to make money.

Maybe its her Botox face, but Melania did not look thrilled to be part of this nonsense. And if we are replacing teachers with robots, then why bother with schools at all? If robots will be replacing humans, what jobs will humans be doing that would require education? I’m confused?
All these people coming out saying they can’t wait for that orange p.o.s kicks it……well let’s not forget all the bull they spewed which made it easier for that ahole to get elected.
Ms.Iam, Okay, hear this: since there will be no more vaccines, eventually a large part of the population will die. Fewer people. The ignorant elected Trump. No more schools and all will be in the dark. So we will have a reduced, ignorant population that will be enslaved to robots. And I bet in time the robots will have Trump’s voice. Dystopian much? Also, Melania is never pleased to do anything as the First Lady. She’d rather be with her own family (her father and son), get beauty treatments, buy clothes, etc. She wants to live in luxury with no responsibility. In other words, Melania is Kate, but with a better pre-nup.
