Is King Charles still giving Prince Andrew a £1 million annual stipend?

This week, we learned that Prince Andrew (Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor) has filed for a judicial review of his February arrest and the search warrants which were executed at Marsh Farm and Royal Lodge. Soon after we heard about the judicial review, Buckingham Palace came out and said (on background) that they were not financing Andrew’s legal adventures. But they suddenly got very pedantic about it, saying of course Andrew is not receiving “public funds,” and that whatever “stipend” he receives, it’s from “private funds.” I broke down what that meant – that Charles was taking money out of the Duchy of Lancaster’s piggy bank to finance Andrew’s lavish lifestyle. Charles pays for Andrew’s (private) security, Charles paid for Marsh Farm’s refurbishment, Charles pays for Andrew’s vacations, Charles pays for Andrew’s household staff. I’m sure it all adds up to quite a lot. Well, Tom Sykes claims on his Royalist Substack that Andrew’s stipend from his brother comes to one million pounds a year. From “Demented King Charles Giving Andrew a MILLION a Year.”

Keeping “AMW” comes at quite a price. Over a MILLION POUNDS a year, every penny of it supplied by his brother, the King, with Andrew given complete latitude to spend it on whatever he pleases.

Remember the story we were sold? Andrew was shamed. Andrew was cast out. Stripped of his titles, prised out of Royal Lodge, banished to the Sandringham estate (where, we were told, he would see out his days in chastened obscurity). The message from the palace was unmistakable: the monarchy had finally drawn a line under its most embarrassing son.

Except, it turns out, that line comes with a seven-figure annual allowance.

Nice work if you can get it, Andy!

[From The Royalist Substack]

I looked around for different sourcing on this story and I couldn’t find anything (note: Tom Sykes says the figure was dropped into a Times of London story this week). I also found that, in late 2024, the palace leaked that they were finally cutting off Andrew, and before then, he had been receiving about a million pounds a year from Charles. That’s what Robert Hardman reported in November 2024. But if you go back through our archives, you’ll find a lot of different people saying wildly different things about Charles, Andrew and money. It feels much more likely that all of this “Andrew is being cut off” drama has been for show, some red meat for the tabloids, and this whole time, Charles has been ensuring that his degenerate brother has lots of cash, support, security and a fully-funded lavish lifestyle. The question is: why? The answer: because Andrew knows enough to take down the entire institution.

Abolish the monarchy. Subsidizing Andrew with a generous stipend is par for the course.

It’s hard to imagine Andrew is not getting money from Charles, via duchy money. No one believes he is living like a pauper. They’re just lying to the press or being tricky with their wording. And yea, I’d imagine, there’s kompromat involved. My question is how much kompromat has Andrew accrued on William. Bc who’s gonna give him money after Charles goes? William or no?

    • sunnyside up says:

I think that William will tell us ‘no’ but what he actually does depends on what Andrew has on William.

My guess is a lot of this is semantics. maybe charles is only giving him 200k a year in cash deposited into a bank account or whatever. But then he’s directly paying the staff, security, covering any costs associated with the house, including things like food, and i’m sure Andrew has a credit card or two that Charles pays every month without questions.

So that cash amount is just andrew’s fun money. He’s not living off it or anything.

And the total value of everything charles is covering for him is likely over a million.

Nice work if you can get it, indeed.

But there wasn’t enough for Meghan, right Chuckles?

  4. Brassy Rebel says:

Abolish the monarchy! The king is paying hush money to his degenerate brother. The public is financing corruption.

  5. sunnyside up says:

£1 million, a mere bagatelle for Charles.

  6. SALADSPINNER says:

It could come from the Duchy of Lancaster income or from Charles’s private fortune. I’d bet the farm that Charles has significantly increased the cash share of that fortune compared to his mother’s portfolio by being gloriously miserly, like Scrooge McDuck. The problem with this fortune is that they can never say out loud how large it is. And they are itching to. Cheapskate/tackyfest William especially would like everyone to know the absolutely bonkers amount of money he is going to have very soon, thank you very much.

  7. FromDaBay says:

The Duchy is Crown property and therefore property of the state. So the citizens of the UK give Andrew that stipend

  8. The Duchess says:

I don’t think he ever stopped. Andrew knows where the bodies are buried. King Chuck presents this public picture of openness for prosecutors to do their job, but he’s done more to help Andrew than anybody bar The Queen & Epstein, and they’re both dead!

The Times stated that the King was giving Andrew an allowance “in excess of £1M a year”

An absolute disgrace. These people are shameless!

Sykes forgot to include a word in this sentence: Keeping “AMW” (quiet) comes at quite a price.

Charles is evil and miserly but not foolish. He knows he has to pay up to keep Andrew mum.

  11. Gabby says:

I say let Andrew sell all the dirty secrets **cough – they killed Diana – cough** he knows to the media and let the Monarchy collapse.

  12. Eurydice says:

I’m trying to think what Andrew could know that is worse than what’s already generally known about the RF – affairs, adultery, pedophilia, sex trafficking, selling access and influence. What’s left? Money laundering? Drug smuggling? Secret arms deals? Murder?

  13. Jay says:

Of course Charles is paying off his brother, and doing it with public funds. Charles’ so-called “private” money is nothing of the sort – it’s either Duchy rents or investment income accumulated over generations of taxing, looting/bribery, and benefiting from slavery. It all goes into Charles’ pocket and then he funnels a small piece of it to Andrew.

Andrew is canny – he knows that his brother needs him to be quiet for the continued survival of the monarchy. So, grifter that he is, Andy knows just how and when to apply pressure to squeeze more money and privileges from his brother. Oh, Charles, you probably wanted the media focus to be on your upcoming trip to the Caribbean? Too bad, Andrew is suing the police that arrested him and dredging up those photos again. Better give him more money to keep him happy and out of the public eye. It’s a shakedown Andrew has been running his whole life and he seems perfectly happy to weaponize his disgrace. His desperation has made him quite dangerous. His mother was perfectly happy to pay; Charles (typically) tried to have it both ways: moving him to a smaller estate and asking him to pretty please not use his titles, but basically protecting him and paying for his upkeep. Nobody seems to believe that Charles would let his brother actually be investigated and properly answer for his crimes. It’s always been damage mitigation, not justice.

My big question about this story is who we are conspicuously NOT hearing from: William. Sykes is often a KP- preferred mouthpiece. He often writes articles that extol how William just can’t wait to be king, he will change and modernize the monarchy, William is going to completely cut off his uncle (and Harry) and how William apparently hates the way the family treats Andrew (even as he is happy to drive Andrew to church and stand beside him). William, we have been told, will do it better when he finally gets the throne. I find it unbelievable that Sykes didn’t at least go to KP for a comment. Other than fantasies about punishing Harry, William’s second favourite thing is criticizing his father and praising himself for what a great king he’ll be.

Maybe KP staff are in vacation mode?

I suspect Andrew’s getting more than 1 million pounds from Charles.
