Duchess Meghan’s As Ever proceeds will go to the Malala Fund for Internat’l Day of the Girl

This is lovely! Last week, the Duchess of Sussex had tea or dinner with Malala Yousafzai at Claridge’s in London. The British press has been obsessed with the sighting, especially since a paparazzo snapped pics of Meghan and Malala embracing as they exited Claridge’s, marking the first sighting of Meghan in London since the Sussexes’ UK return. Royalists spun conspiracies about the meaning and message behind the meeting for days. Now, it looks like it the dinner was merely friends catching up and setting up something nice for International Day of the Girl, which is today. From As Ever’s email:

This International Day of the Girl, in partnership with Archewell Philanthropies, 100% of net proceeds from our jams and teas will support Malala Fund and its vital work to ensure that every girl has access to free, safe, quality education.

Tea for Two has never felt so good.

Archewell Philanthropies is home to the charitable work of Prince Harry and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their children.

Malala Fund’s mission is to ensure every girl’s right to 12 years of education, and creating a more equal, safer and healthier world by making sure all girls can go to and complete school.

This is lovely! Proceeds from As Ever’s two popular lines, jams and tea, going to the Malala Fund. Awesome. Did they set this up when they met, or did they set it up beforehand and the dinner was just a nice catch-up? The photos posted to As Ever are from the dinner at Claridge’s! Anyway, just a nice way for Meghan to draw more support to the Malala Fund. You can see As Ever’s spreads and teas here.

  1. duchess of hazard says:

I’m all for cheering on girls for twelve years of schooling.

I wish I could buy jam just to support the effort (I live in the EU).

    • Who WERE these people? says:

Can you donate directly to the fund?

      • duchess of hazard says:

Good point! I’m going to see if I can try and donate directly to the fund. A woman’s hand rocking the cradle of civilisation and all that.

      • Over it says:

This is why I wish they Meghan As Ever was available internationally, just think of how much she could make for such a wonderful cause . Meghan, I am begging you. Start doing international shipping of your products. My money wants to have your stuff . Lots of it . Oh the Christmas shopping I could finish on as ever . Like these things are seriously beautiful

      • FrenchLadyJuliet says:

I’m sure Meghan has project to expand, and sell in many countries. We’ll just have to wait a bit longer…

  2. NoBS Please says:

    Awww, so lovely.

Good to remind people that today’s International Day of the Girl (I didn’t know) and draw attention to the fact that girls’ rights to education and safeguarding are in full regression all over the world.

Not just in Afghanistan or Irak, the US also seems to be going backwards particularly in its protections against sexual violence.

  3. Who WERE these people? says:

Lovely and a natural step for As Ever. Unclear if donated profits are only for sales today or ongoing.

  4. Dainty Daisy says:

    Manifesting a “Meghan& Angelina”, “Meghan& Michelle”, “Meghan& McKenzie” collaboration..

    • Amy Bee says:

The Michelle collab seems doubtful because the Obamas wouldn’t want to upset the Royal Family. Being associated with Harry was fine when he was a working royal but not now he’s outside the institution. The Obamas are very much establishment.

      • Slough says:

The Obamas would never partner with Meghan for reasons that have nothing to do with the royal family. Get a grip.

      • MidnightSuperNova says:

If the Obamas are establishment then so is Angelina, after all she met with Qll to receive the received the Insignia of an Honorary Dame Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of St. Michael and St. George at Buckingham Palace.

Many prominent people seem to be establishment if we go by who has associated with the royals in some capacity or other 🤷🏾‍♀️

      • Amy Bee says:

Then I guess there won’t be an Angelina collab either.

      • Dainty Daisy says:

@Amy Bee, i guess if FLOTUS and Angelina (Dame?) are out, that only leaves a possible Mackenzie collab then.

      • Mightymolly says:

@Slough – say more. What are those reasons? I genuinely don’t know.

      • TheWigletOfWails says:

@mightymolly imo, a democratically elected (former) president of the USA and the First Lady are not partnering with a member of a hereditary monarchy, especially one whose country we broke away from. The optics are not great.

  5. Connecticutie says:

This reminds me of the meme “imagine hating me and I’m just over here petting this baby duck” or whatever. The tabloids are in such a foaming frenzy meanwhile they’re just doing charity, pilates, watching rugby etc.

    • BeanieBean says:

I’m reminded of the woman the other day who wrote that Meghan should at least be donating the proceeds of her sales! Well, lady, here ya go, what say you? (She’s probably saying it’s not enough, it’s not the Advent calendar, why support just girls, etc., etc., etc.)

  6. Harla says:

I already have a bunch of As Ever products but I did place an order to support this project. It’s inspiring to see these 2 incredible women working together towards a common vision. I feel like now more than ever, the education and support for girls and women is vital for the future of our species.

  7. Roseberry says:

Sorry to nitpick Kaiser, it’s very clearly afternoon tea and not dinner. Even the Archwell press release says ‘Tea for two “.
Afternoon tea is a very popular event that all the top hotels do, many people/tourists book them for special occasions- finger sandwiches, scones and jam and a selection of cakes, you can also add in cocktails or champagne if you wish. For a special birthday a couple of years ago my daughter booked for us a Bridgerton themed afternoon tea at the Lanesborough Hotel, Knightsbridge – it was such fun.

    • Mightymolly says:

I did it once as a tourist in London. But as an American, eating a truck load of carbs and cream in the middle of the day when an evening meal is still ahead felt truly bizarre. Like, can I just have the tea?

  8. Frida’s Xolo says:

This was an excellent excuse to buy the jars of raspberry and strawberry jam in my cart! Idk what everyone’s problem is with these jams, they have a great consistency that makes these more versatile than the term “jam” would suggest. Anyways, the jams are great drizzled on ice cream and shortbread cookies, and I will be giving away some jars for the holidays.

    • Babz says:

Those jams are wonderful! And don’t get me started on that spiced apple butter! I could eat that and the strawberry jam from the jar with a spoon! And I could kick myself for only ordering one set of three jars of the apple butter, because it sold out in no time. I’m hoping it will be in seasonal rotation this time next year, and I will definitely stock up.

    • goofpuff says:

I don’t like raspberries but this is the only form of raspberry i truly love eating. This jam is amazing!

  9. Amy Bee says:

This is a lovely gesture and very smart too. If the press wants to obsess about this meeting it’s better capitalise on it and bring attention to the Malala Fund.

  10. Gemini says:

I think they carefully organized this public meeting to highlight this great cause. Well done and well played my Duchess. I wrote the other day that this meeting was very different than the pub lunches that were photographed so we shouldn’t get angry that Meghan’s privacy was being invaded.

    • RavenBlue says:

This was my thought as well. The pictures taken outside had a very different feeling to the ones where they were walking to the pub.

  11. sunny says:

This is really lovely and totally on brand for Meghan.

I will say this probably was in the works for awhile and the dinner was a catch up or to finalize details. Generally, announcements like this require some lead time.

  12. Eska says:

A nice gesture from As Ever. Hopefully it gets a lot of press in the US where people can buy the products.

I am interested that they announce their visits prior with their concern with security. However I have not heard much about that so wondering if some kind of deal has been made quietly? I think it’s pretty obvious by now that Harry wants his old life back.

  13. bisynaptic says:

Looks like they had afternoon tea, not dinner.

  14. IQuiteContrary says:

Meghan continues to prove that everyone can show up and do good.

And she’s doing it in on the BRF’s turf.

She will always support girls and women. Unlike Kate, Meghan is a girls’ girl.

  15. Puff Updater says:

But she can’t help people that’s for Royals only! S/

    • Eska says:

Seriously grow uo. This constant comparison uo the royals is exhausting. Let Meghan be herself and do good things with the company she has built. Leave Harry (the boy child) and his family out of her business I get so tried of everything she does being compared to then. She has a business Harry does not. He needs to pull it together and create something. Instead he just rubs around trying to copy his family. DI very sick of him.

      • QuiteContrary says:

        Lol, spellcheck is your friend.

And Harry needs to create something? He created the Invictus Games.

He doesn’t need to create a business.

      • Chiron says:

You are a pathetic troll but I’ll bite slightly and say Harry has brought at least 100 million dollars, more if the initial contracts were as stated, into the marriage so far. He has created a business with an enormous market cap – travelyst, plus his other money making gigs. He had at least 30 million from the get go, well over 30 million from spare and half of the contracts, so possibly another 75 right there as well. Plus his charities he created. Such a loser.

      • Mairzy Doats says:

Best rule for dealing with trolls is to reply with a recipe (got this idea from another website years ago).

I’m looking forward to using the strawberry spread on some good quality vanilla bean ice cream with perhaps a shortbread cookie on the side.

    • lilysmom says:

This commenter is being sarcastic. She’s indicated that.

      • Lurker says:

        @chiron

Travalyst is a non-profit. Harry doesn’t get a salary, he even pays for his flights and accommodation when he speaks on promotion events for Travalyst.

The only one with a business of her own is indeed Meghan. Harry still gets a salary from BetterUp, he made money with his book and from speaking engagements, and hopefully he invested his money wisely. They are partners for Archewell Productions. The main breadwinner seems to be Meghan’s As Ever. Not that this is wrong in any way. He concentrates on his charity projects, Meghan on As Ever and her projects which are not so time consuming. Works for them, obviously.

  16. Gail says:

I donated to the fund directly, to honour The Duchess, Malala and the Girls!

  17. tamsin says:

Media keeps talking about dinner/tea, but since proceeds from sales of jam and tea are going towards Malala’s foundation, it makes sense that the two are having Tea at Claridges. I’m wondering why Archewell did not announce this ahead of time to give people a heads up to make their orders on International Day of the Girl.

    • Blithe says:

I got an email today from As Ever that was sent around 3 am. That, for me, is sufficient lead time. I appreciate the heads up re: IDG, since I didn’t know about it before reading the email.

  18. JFerber says:

G-d bless Malala and Princess Meghan. Despite being in a difficult situation, the Duchess knows who she is and what she wants to accomplish in life: doing as much real good for the world as she can and protecting herself and her lovely family. Goals. Always.💖

  19. sbwild says:

How lovely. They both are amazing women. Why there is so much hate directed at the Duchess is beyond me. Salt Island does not deserve her in any way whatsoever.

  20. Chiron says:

She’s done another awesome collab for today for Kelly’s charity and alliance of children’s rights but it sold out almost immediately. Good they’re making more sweatshirts!

Meghan is always about adding value to charities as opposed to wank making everything a pr exercise to put focus on them.

  21. aiglentine says:

I got a Connection Timed Out when I clicked on the Malala Fund banner at the As Ever site. Yoo hoo, As Ever’s SRE team, spin up some more capacity!

  22. Flamingo says:

This is why I love buying her products. Not only are they delicious,. I know I am helping someone in the world build a better life for themselves through education.

    Win win.

  23. Bean says:

Just bought some spelt bread at the farmers market today so I was thrilled to order jars of the orange marmalade (it tastes like sunshine!)
