Prince William & Kate allegedly insist that they knew nothing about Thomas Markle

In 2018, the newly-married Duchess of Sussex wrote a letter to her garbage father, Thomas Markle. The letter was an attempt to get Thomas Markle off British talk shows, and it was also an attempt by Meghan to simply get her father to calm down and stop selling her out at every turn. It did not work – for months, Thomas continued lying and claiming that he had not spoken to or heard from Meghan since before the wedding. When Meghan’s friends told People Magazine that Thomas was lying and that Meghan had sent him a letter, Thomas turned around and sold the letter to the Mail. The Mail promptly published it and Meghan promptly sued them. For years, that lawsuit dragged on through the British courts. Prince William’s right-hand man and communications director Jason Knauf repeatedly went to bat for… the Mail. Like, Knauf provided emails and documents to the Mail’s lawyers to help them in their case. Knauf even gave a witness statement. Remember all of that when reading through all of these reports about the Prince and Princess of Wales having zero knowledge about anything to do with Thomas Markle.

Prince William is reportedly making one thing clear amid the disturbing allegations surrounding Meghan Markle’s estranged father, Thomas Markle: he and Catherine, Princess of Wales, knew nothing about the accusations when Meghan allegedly learned of them, and they have no intention of being dragged into another controversy involving the Duchess of Sussex’s family.

The question of who knew what, and when, has become increasingly difficult to ignore, particularly as reports have revisited the allegations involving Thomas Markle and the claims that Meghan was informed about them years ago. Now, according to celebrity journalist Rob Shuter, sources close to William and Catherine are emphatically distancing the Prince and Princess of Wales from the situation, insisting that neither was aware of the allegations at the time.

In a recent Substack video shared on Yahoo, Shuter addressed the growing speculation about whether senior members of the Royal Family had known about the matter, saying he had contacted people close to the Waleses to establish what they allegedly knew.

“I spoke to my sources close to the Waleses, Catherine and William,” Shuter said. Their reported response, he explained, left little room for ambiguity.

“And they told me absolutely not,” he said. “They had no idea about these allegations. Nobody told them.”

That is the central point of the latest report: William and Catherine are being presented as outsiders to a deeply personal family controversy, rather than people who were informed about the allegations and chose to remain silent. The distinction matters because questions about what the Royal Family knew can quickly become questions about the institution itself, bringing King Charles, Prince William and Catherine into a controversy that originated within Meghan’s own family.

However, Shuter’s account suggests that people close to the Waleses are determined to make clear that the allegations were not something William and Catherine were told about. The journalist has also characterized their reported position as a desire to keep their distance from the controversy rather than become part of another public dispute involving the Sussexes.

That does not amount to a direct statement from William or Princess Kate and Kensington Palace has not independently confirmed the account. Nevertheless, the reported denial offers a clear counterpoint to speculation that the Waleses may have known about the allegations when Meghan allegedly became aware of them.

[From US Daily Report]

It’s possible that Prince William and Kate had no inkling of the crimes committed by Thomas Markle, although questions certainly need to be asked about whether the Met Police informed the Royal Household at the same time as the Sussexes, in early 2019. If the answer is “some people in the household knew,” then everything the institution did to Meghan has taken an even more sinister turn. Throughout 2019, Meghan was struggling profoundly with her mental health, and she sued the Mail over the publication of her letter to Thomas Markle. And at the very same time, Prince William and Jason Knauf were openly acting against Meghan and trying to push her out of the country (or worse). Then Knauf continued to act against Meghan’s interests for years afterward. Questions need to be asked.

Scooter and Keen would be wise to keep there mouths shut over this, considering they both have problematic Uncles.

Suuuure. Knauf was actively working with Markle *before* the wedding to derail it. All of the reports say that the Met shared the letter with the Sussex’s “household.” Knauf was their shared staff guy with the then Cambridges. It strains credulity that Knauf (and therefore Bulliam and KKKhate) were unaware of this letter or its contents. I can envision a world where they *all* thought this would give them great leverage over Markle and Meghan that they could exercise when they needed to strike a decisive blow against Meghan. It’s backfired, for the most part, but Meghan is still the one being hurt by this debacle. My heart aches for her.

I mean, if the allegations and warnings about Thomas Markle were not shared with the then-Cambridges, that would be negligence, wouldn’t it? The Cambridges had young children, too – if this man wasn’t on the royal protection officer’s radar that would be a shocking lapse.

They originally shared staff with the Sussexes, including Jason. I refuse to believe that he advised Meghan about drafting the letters to her dad without having any clue what it was all about. Again, his job was communications, but also protecting the royal family’s reputation.

      • Monika says:

@Jay in January 2019 Harry and Meghan were still represented by Kensington Palace office so I believe Jason Knauf was in the middle of this. Any advice given to Meghan at the time would have come from the courtiers in Kensington Palace.

        So William and Kate knew!

  3. Cathy says:

Jason the knife was the Communication person in the KP office meaning that the probability is very very high that he knew. And if he knew then this makes in acts in 2019 even more deplorable.

  4. Iheoma Nwakpadolu says:

    They knew

  5. Chenni says:

If anyone believe this , I have a bridge to sell you. This is keens covering their arse because everytime they scream about meghan how american she is and she doesn’t understand the hierarchy of brf etc. During this debacle sussex and Wales have same office , I’m pretty sure they must have told about this because that letter by loveless said it is to protect Wales kids and future meghan kids.

THEY ALL KNOW AND I WILL SAID IT AGAIN , THEY WANT TO PLAY GOTCHA WITH MEGHAN WHEN SHE TALKS TO HER DAD.

Why dailymail specially send that vile human being to be with alone thomas sr not jr not samantha?? They KNOW.

    • Debbie says:

Great points! These people who shared the same office at the time and are SO concerned about hierarchy knew nothing about the allegations against Toxic Tom? Sure. And when you add that the Wales had young children too, while the BM was urging a reconciliation with TT at every turn, I’m sure that the Met wouldn’t want other senior royals to be kept in the loop. Uh-huh.

    Bullshit.

It’s important to remember that Jason Knauf did not just give the Mail lawyers Meghan’s emails. He tampered with the evidence by cutting out sections and editing the emails to paint a false narrative about Meghan. It was so obvious though that the judge had to demand that Jason Knauf submit the emails in full and lo and behold the full emails actually helped her case and painted her in a positive light. So basically Jason Knauf tampered with court evidence. Kate lied and planted a fake story about Meghan making her cry and refused to correct it. William planted stories that Harry agreed to a statement that he’d never even seen. They are all liars. So why should we believe them now?

  8. ChillinginDC says:

what a bunch of idiots, they should have said nothing. But now we know Jason knew and there’s no way that William didn’t know. Probably used this to have a go at Harry at the time too.

  9. JayBlue says:

“Quick, how do we make this about us?!”

You knew, and no one gives a toss. Sit down and shut up, peg. The grown ups are talking.

  10. Jay says:

I suspect the Wales knew, at the very least, that Thomas Markle was a shady character. Given how intertwined the royal households and their protection services seem to be, it doesn’t seem possible that the warnings about him would be shared only with Meghan. For the then- Cambridges though, this information would have been viewed as something they could weaponize. Through Jason Knauf, they went all in supporting the Mail, and the Mail was all in on supporting Thomas Markle.

Even if they didn’t know the specifics of the allegations, William and Kate should have to answer questions about why, exactly, they had their employee share Meghan’s correspondence and even testify in court against her. I hope we get more questions about that, because they’ve never had to answer for it.

In 2018 Charles was Prince of Wales. If anyone in the RF was informed, he would have been top of the list. Betting the Queen was not told as Charles was already seen as the shadow king.

  11. Jferber says:

Jais, these people never express concern about the victims. It’s all about avoiding culpability and criminal/financial repercussions.

    • Jais says:

It’s pretty disgusting. Meanwhile everything Megan has said has led with concern for the victims. For as much as they love to copy her, you’d think this could be a moment to do so but nope it’s just about themselves. As usual. We all know they knew. And all they care about now is claiming that they didn’t when no one is buying it.

  12. AR says:

“we didn’t know anything about anything” great continuing strategy from the braintrust

  13. ziaaaa says:

Since Billy Idle via his stooge Knauf were in active contact with the Perv since the wedding, I wouldn’t put it past one of the palaces (hint:hint) to have informed Bad Dad about the letter. Probably even assured him nothing would come of it as long as he kept on targeting Meghan. It is in sync with the MeT doing diddly squat about ay of these serious allegations in the past 8 years.

There is high possibility Royal Family, British media, MeT, and Markle Snr have been working in tandem to keep the Sussex torment ongoing. The way Caroline Graham is stuck by Thomas’ side even after the disgusting allegations came out shows he is being heavily monitored and puppeteered to ensure nothing weird comes out about the royal machinations in this whole thing. Disgusting lot all of them are!

    • Brassy Rebel says:

Caroline Graham seems to have been some sort of handler for Markle. We really need to know more about her. She seems to be in the wind currently.

  14. Sharon says:

William is not to be trusted.

  15. GDUBSLADY says:

The Cambridges now the Wales shared their staff with Harry and Meghan until March 2019. That’s BS. The people in place to receive tge letter for tge Sussexes we’re William and Kate’s people.

  16. Amy Bee says:

There’s no way KP didn’t know about this. And let’s not forget that William had no objective to the press using Toxic Tom to attack Meghan. That was reported by the Sunday Times by Harold Shipman. Plus police wouldn’t have approached Meghan directly they would have spoken to courtiers first.

  17. GDUBSLADY says:

It’s “the” instead of “tge”. I was in a hurry to get my point out. The Sussexes worked with William’s people. Legally they may be on thin ice. His staff. His monkeys. This went down the chain not up the chain. In the Firm, decisions and responses come from the Sovereign alone but the Royalists are trying to put this all on Meghan.

  18. QuiteContrary says:

Kate and William are so clueless. Why even issue this vehement denial?

Why not — if asked — just say something like, “Our hearts break for the victims of child sexual abuse material everywhere. Beyond that, we have no comment.”

  19. Kasztanka says:

    Hahahaha….🤣
A snitch Knauf and William, man obsessed with his own brother and his brother’s beautiful wife (in whose presence he either clenches his fists in rage—”Meghan is mine, Harold!”—or breaks into a sweat from lust)—who shares an office with the Sussexes and employs that same snitch, informant, and liar, Knauf, as a joint secretary… are we really supposed to believe they didn’t know the contents of a letter that the police sent to their office? 🤣
Not to mention the fact that if the Metropolitan Police received it, the very first thing they would have done is notify the Palace—and if the Palace knows, then the media knows too…
