Tom Hardy: I’d end up high, in bed with a stranger, bleeding

hardy4

After maybe admitting that he “played with everybody and everything” in an interview, Tom Hardy’s people seemed to want to roll back some of the “Tom Hardy is a sexy bisexual who will do naughty things to you” rumors. In truth, those quotes were likely pulled from an earlier interview where Tom might have been talking about something else. However, Tom doesn’t seem to give a sh-t if we think he goes both ways. He’s given another tell-all interview, this time to Men’s Health UK, and he utters this line: “I thought I’d have a little bit of a party, and I’d end up high and frightened, in places that scared me. In a blackout I could end up anywhere… in bed with someone I didn’t know, not knowing how I got there. Bleeding. This was on a daily basis.” Ooh! Actually, Tom makes the whole thing sound rather tragic, not fun and sexy. DAMN IT.

Inception stud Tom Hardy is quite candid about his past drug usage and family life in the August 2010 issue of Men’s Health UK. Here’s what the 32-year-old British actor had to share:

On being addicted to drugs and booze: “I thought I’d have a little bit of a party, and I’d end up high and frightened, in places that scared me. In a blackout I could end up anywhere. I might wake up somewhere the other side of London, or in another country. Or in bed with someone I didn’t know, not knowing how I got there. Bleeding. This was on a daily basis. And I was going to work. I didn’t want to appear rock ’n’ roll. I didn’t want anyone to know I was out of control, but I couldn’t hide it. Eventually, the body gives up. My body told me. I was completely kaput. I was lucky I didn’t get hepatitis or AIDS.”

On his two-year-old son: “Louis arriving was an absolute godsend. Children need things. Not want things. Want and need are two different things I have always mixed up. When Louis came along he was like, ‘You can’t think about you! I’m here!’ It separated a lot of my selfish behavior.”

On working hard at his craft: “Take Michael Jordan [for example]. If Michael Jordan goes out onto the court and has a bad game, it’s unacceptable. Because he’s Michael Jordan. He has to be the best. So Michael Jordan needs to spend more time on the court training or practicing than any of his team mates. Over time, technique wins over natural ability. People who work hard, with constant application, determination and tenacity – although they may not be as interesting, or have as much flair – will win. Overall, they will achieve a goal.”

On training for his upcoming film Warrior: “We arrived at the gym at 7am. We’d have breakfast before we got there. Peanut butter on toast. Then we got in the joint, had our protein shakes and a gallon of water. Then stretching, warming up – skipping. Then we’d go into boxing for two hours. Two hours of pad work for elbows and knees, kicks and Muay Thai. Then a couple of hours of Jiu Jitsu. And then choreography. Then we’d do an evening session: a couple of hours in the gym. Variations of weights, hitting a different muscle group every day.”

Tom’s trainer, Pnut, has a simple but unorthodox method for bulking fast. “I call my philosophy ‘signalling’,” he says. “Throughout the day you need to send constant signals to your body, so that it adapts in the direction you point it in. It’s better to do 10 press-ups every hour than 100 in a single burst. If you do things often enough, your body adapts for the task you set it, and you evolve.” Interesting!

Well, I think Tom is being honest, of course. But I also think he was told that he should dial back some of the gay stuff and focus on how becoming a father changed him. And he does seem like he was really going through some rough stuff. Emphasis on “rough”. And dirty. And crazy. And Jesus, I wish I had known him back then, we could have had a lot of fun together.

Wow he’s hot, glad he survived those times and is maturing for the sake of his child.

  2. Vee says:

Glad he survived those years of youth and dangerous irresponsibility. I often say to myself, and I’m not overly religious, “by the grace of God I’m still alive today.” I made a ton of stupid choices when I was young and like Tom, have learned from them.

  3. nona says:

Who cares? He liked doing drugs and slept around. Big deal!
It doesn’t make him different than any other Hollywood brat.

Does he think this “story” makes him look interesting & edgy?

    The funny thing is that
he is fame-whoring his vain, insignificant past and in the short time he will be complaining that the media is messing with his private life.

Good that he got over from his drugs and booze addiction, though.

Let’s see if he can quit the collagen lips injection as well… it seems like is his new drug of choice now.

  4. Meanchick says:

I’m glad he’s so candid. Now back to this hot piece of manliness!

  5. mln says:

Maybe he did dial back but I like the way he did it…I still think he is sexy as hell.

  6. Chickadees4me says:

So yummy! Kids sure do give a person perspective, happy for him 🙂

  7. Anon says:

He is amazingly hot in that light grey suit. Like.. DAMN.

  8. Shay says:

Who cares about the Gerard Butlers and Sean Beans? Tom Hardy has a really nice face. Perfect features. Perfect mouth. My goodness. And he appears to be more versatile than the above mentioned two actors.

  9. Snarf says:

Anyone else think there’s pictures or videos on the horizon, hence the candidness?

  10. Sefa says:

It must just be his people freaking out. I saw him on the Jonathan Ross show, and he said he once went on a bender in LA and woke up the next morning in bed naked, with a gun and guy, none of which he remembered. Then he had the guy drop him off at Pink’s. He seems like a strong-silent type, but he’s very talented and interesting in interviews. And yes. Pretty damn sexy.

  11. theresa says:

Sounds to me like Tom, or His People, were trying to pull off a David Bowie style, (in ancient times when he first admitted in the press to being bi-sexual), dial down of the bi stuff to avoid potentially alienating certain portions of the U.S. audience. Also sounds like Tom is trying to blame it on the drugs and booze. Sometimes maybe, but on a “daily basis”? Nope. It’s o.k. to be out and bi now, Tom. Most of the women and many of the men will still understand that you are both hot and talented. People still will pay to see your movies.

  12. gg says:

High, bleeding and scary are NOT SEXY.

  13. snowball says:

I know I’m being sort of a downer, but I wonder if anyone does these interviews and then 20 years later looks back and craps when their kids read them.

(Or when someone like Andrew Morton writes a “tell-all” that makes their partner want to leave them, OH NOES!)

  14. carrie says:

    if he was a woman,we may say she’s a b*tch! it’s tragic!

now he’s funny or candid in interviews but he’s hot-head in filming set(“the priest” or “bronson”)

  15. Kittypants says:

I’d really, really love to have the opportunity to do rude things to him.

  16. scrappy says:

@kittypants, when your done, it’s my turn please.

  17. aloha says:

    He’s very a versatile actor!

  18. Dhavy says:

My boyfriend is a Star Trek movie freak and that’s where I saw him for the first time and all I thought was where did he come from? He is very versatile, he plays a funny in the closet in love with Gerard Butler’s character in RocknRolla and he looks very sexy.

Makes me wonder though how settled he is now that he’s married but I also think that when you’re young you have to live wild and try things at least once. Although in my situation, I do remember how I got there and who was there!

I don’t think he’s got collagen injected, he’s got that Jonathan Rhys Meyers lip thing going on

  19. DiMi says:

To me, bleeding sounds like he’s indirectly explaining that he was raped while he was blacked out. That’s not sexy. That’s scary and terribly sad.

  20. Von says:

I also think there might be videos or pictures so he’s getting it all out there before someone else is, would still do him though

  21. Anastasia says:

He’s hot, but he has the most stupid tats ever.

  22. Jayla says:

He sounds nasty. He’s cute but not hot, hot to me. I wonder from where was he bleeding?

  23. GatsbyGal says:

The second blood enters the picture, I’m out. Blood and pain aren’t exactly my idea of a hot time.

  24. jzhz says:

He is one foxy dude. I don’t care what he used to do, I’m just glad he didn’t mess up that pretty face…

  25. K-MAC says:

GOD he is HAWT!!!!!!!! He can get dirty/nasty with me anytime! (I feel so ashamed now 🙂

  26. Chris says:

Let your acting do your talking, dude. It doesn’t take talent to get wasted and then when up in a garden bed the next day with grass stains on your knees and condom hanging out of your butt.

  27. Cazzy_b says:

    I still would.

  28. Cakes says:

Not even a tiny bit attractive. I saw Inception today and it was awsome!

  29. Iris says:

oh my God. that shower picture is making me hot.

  30. Kate says:

I just want him to be pretty and stop talking about his crappy past so damn much!

Just be pretty and keep with the good acting, Hardy!

  31. Chris says:

He is a good actor though. For a pretty boy he was very convincing as a tough guy in Bronson.

  32. p3rp3tu4 says:

    Yeow!

  33. Sophie says:

f-ck. this man. i would do him so hard. more tom hardy!

  34. Alexis says:

I love that you’re focusing so much on him. It took me by surprise to see yet another TH article. I was giggling non stop like a school girl…that must mean he’s really, really hot.

  35. Truthzbetta says:

Gross. He’s physically good looking but gross. Sign me up for saying people who want to tell the whole world how they used to wake up naked, bleeding with people they didn’t know and hoping to hell they are not diseased because of it are not. hot.

When men or women have been around that many blocks, ridden hard and put away wet — with blood– I find them skeezy and used up. Male Pam Anderson. Bet she woke up the same way more than once, minus his talent, but still.

  36. di butler says:

So, basically the male equivalent of Amy Winehouse or Lindsay Hohan? Whatever. I don’t get his appeal, whichever way he does it.

  37. Kelly says:

Hey, we’ve all been there :-0)

Doesn’t everyone go through a monsterslut phase? Im just refreshed to hear a man talk about it as though he’s grown out of it! Does that not herald the Ragnarok or something?? We shouldn’t judge peeps for putting themselves about, male or female; it’s what we’re programmed to do as homo sapiens, organized religion mindf*ucks not withstanding. Live and let live, I say.

  38. Chris says:

I still can’t get over how different he looked in Bronson.

    Check it out: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1172570/mediaindex

  39. Fae says:

    That’s my boy.

We’ve all experimented, right? Bloody hell, some of you sound so very vanilla…

  40. MMW says:

He’s a very sexy good looking man, but when did bleeding while unconscious start qualifying as hot?! And while we are at it: if we were talking about a woman most likely she’d be labeled a bleeding whore, but if he is blackedout, bleeding and scared guy all of a sudden he’s hot. Double standard much?

  41. Truthzbetta says:

Mmmm … no. “We” haven’t all done stuff like this which is why not all of us are diseased or facing down a rape kit sobbing why me, why me.

Some people are taught well or learn with their own brains how to respect and protect themselves and others. It’s just that simple.

  42. canadianchick says:

    Monsterslut years, ahhh, memories….

  43. Henriette says:

Love the fact he’s honest; he certainly doesn’t make it sound like being a druggy is sexy or glam. He’s not boasting about it – he’s just saying that’s how it was and now moved past that now and is simply a hot piece who’s clean and tasty but has a dirty nasty past! YUM.

  44. DiMi says:

    Truthzbett-

I’m the one who first mentioned the r-word – rape – and I think his story is tragic, not hot. But I do not endorse blaming the rape victim of any gender or under any circumstances for somebody else’s violent behavior. Never. Ever. I don’t care if you’re passed out on the street. Nobody should touch you without your permission. Never. Ever. Think about what you’re saying. It’s cruel, vicious and wrong-minded.

  45. Leticia says:

The story about him being scared, bleeding, etc, is very sad to me. How sad that anyone would be abused like that. I don’t get how some of you are talking about hotness right now. Geez.

  46. Kitten says:

That black and white photo is so hot but the other pics are kind of scary….
Also, was he comparing himself to Michael Jordan? No, honey, just no.
