I’ve mentioned my love for Tom Hardy before. I first noticed him in Band of Brothers (my favorite miniseries of all time), but I only recognized him as The Sex when I saw his lovely, funny, charming, naughty performance in RockNRolla, in which he stole most scenes away from Gerard Butler (by the way, Idris Elba is in that too, and his scenes with Hardy and Butler… Jesus, that film has man-candy!). Hardy is getting more press now that he’s been in Inception - he stole several scenes from Leonardo DiCaprio, and he’s gained some weight, and well… the man is just hot.
Anyway, much like the character Hardy played in RockNRolla, the real-life Hardy doesn’t mind a little man-on-man action. He admitted as much when he discussed his sexuality with The Daily Mail. Just keep this in mind, whenever Hardy talks about man-on-man, I’m picturing him with Gerard Butler:

London-born Tom found big-screen fame with Star Trek Nemesis, and in the 2009 hit Bronson, where he played the notoriously violent criminal Charles Bronson to critical acclaim.
In Guy Ritchie’s hit Rock’n'Rolla he starred as gay gangster Handsome Bob, and had a crush on Scottish hearthrob Gerard Butler. He then starred as Heathcliffe in a BBC remake of Emily Bronte’s Wuthering Heights, where he met stunning fiancée Charlotte.
In an interview with Now magazine, the former party-boy who has battled drink, drugs and crime to turn his life around, added: ‘A lot of people say I seem masculine, but I don’t feel it.
‘I feel intrinsically feminine. I’d love to be one of the boys but I always felt a bit on the outside. Maybe my masculine qualities come from overcompensating because I’m not one of the boys.’

Um… swoon? If he was American, I might be calling him a closet-case, but I’m giving him some leeway because he’s British. You know, the accent, the school systems… well, I just think more British boys have had gay experiences in general, and are perhaps more open to bisexuality and homosexuality. That’s my bias talking, by the way, but I don’t consider it a bad thing. Nothing could be further than the truth - I find Hardy’s honesty and sort-of naughty homoeroticism terribly sexy. I’m swooning even harder, if possible.

And the stereotype that British men are all at least bi because they don’t act like cave men is also another reason why Americans are thought to be uneducated and ignorant. -

Funny thing is that I don’t remember seeing him in “Band of Brothers” and I still haven’t seen him in “RockNRolla”, yet.
Just saw him in “Wuthering Heights” and he’s absolutely an revelation. Very prodigiously talented actor. I just hope that his foray into Hollywood doesn’t cut him off from his British film roots, because he’s legitimately good.

As far as cultural stereotypes and attractions, while it’s true that Americans are more uncomfortable with the blending of the gender lines, America is also a very big country that is composed of all types. He will be to the liking of some (as in my case) and not in others. There’s no need to get all riled up over generalizations, whether your dishing them out or are on the receiving end.

I spent ages trying to work out where I’d seen him before you mentioned it - Wuthering Heights! If people haven’t seen him in it, I would so recommend it because it was so so SO good. He was the best Heathcliffe I’ve ever seen - as well as being really sexy, the boy can act. Yum.

I think it’s great he’s open about his sexuality. I think he’s honest about preferring women. However, if I was his girlfriend I’d be a little worried about his statements not feeling like “one of the boys” and being more feminine inside. I heard transgender people say similiar things.
Anyway I wish him and his fiancee the best. I think he’s a terrific actor and definitely stole a few scenes in “Inception”.

I don’t get it–he’s not even remotely hot to me. In fact, he kind of looks like one of those images where they take different features from celebrities and put them all on the same face, and wind up with what looks like a plastic surgery nightmare.
I don’t remember him from either Band of Brothers or RockNRolla (another bloated, over-hyped movie from Guy Ritchie)–I always associate him with the extremely disappointing Star Trek: Nemesis. And I didn’t find him hot there, either.
And if I didn’t know that he’s British, I’d assume, based on his appearance, that when he opens his mouth, he sounds like Brooklyn 30 years ago. So if you change the accent, is he still hot to you?

I love Tom Hardy. I do prefer him when he’s his normal size though. The shirtless pictures were taken when he had been bulking up for a movie where he plays a cagefighter so he’s not normally that beefy. But good god those lips..

The last two pics don’t do him justice - I suspect they were taken right after he’d finished filming “Bronson”. He put on about 50lbs of muscle for the role. He definately looks better without the weight. Check out ‘The Virgin Queen’ - he is a great Robert Dudley.

I find it rather short-sighted on the part of some that for those of us who are attracted to him that the attraction must be defined my physicality or cheap sexual fetish. In my case, my attraction has to do with neither. Though I find him attractive, ironically, he’s actually a little “jockish” and “bulky” for my usual predilections. Alternately, I find his FORMER sexual dalliances inconsequential. He would doubtlessly receive less disdain from some of you had he admitted that he experimented with crack, instead. I suggested him for a post because the man is talented. Pure and simple, and it is that that I find to be the sexiest thing about him. I think that some of your premature judgments are more telling. If you haven’t seen him on screen, do so first, and then draw your conclusions.
