Is Tom Hardy trying to roll back all of that gay stuff?

tomhardy1

Okay, so last week The Daily Mail ran several intriguingly delicious, homoerotic quotes from Tom Hardy’s interview with some British publication. In the interview, Tom Hardy allegedly (or not so) was asked about whether he’s ever boned a dude, and he said: “As a boy? Of course I have. I’m an actor for f–k’s sake…I’ve played with everything and everyone… I love the form and the physicality, but now that I’m in my 30s, it doesn’t do it for me. I’m done experimenting but there’s plenty of stuff in a relationship with another man, especially gay men, that I need in my life. A lot of gay men get my thing for shoes. I have definite feminine qualities, and a lot of gay men are incredibly masculine. I feel intrinsically feminine. I’d love to be one of the boys but I always felt a bit on the outside. Maybe my masculine qualities come from overcompensating because I’m not one of the boys.”

So, that was totally hot. And it might have been totally wrong, and not in a “Oh, this is so wrong and naughty, I can’t believe Tom Hardy and his hot friend Gerard Butler want to have a three-way” kind of way. According to E! News’ Ted Casablanca, Tom’s people are trying to back-track on these quotes. Casablanca’s unnamed source tells E!: “It’s all taken out of context. He was discussing a gay role and quotes coming from the character.” Casablanca then goes on to note that the only time Tom Hardy has ever played a gay character was in RocknRolla, and he wasn’t playing an actor, he was playing a gangster.

So now all of the gay-issues sites that were getting all hot and bothered about Tom and his open bisexuality are now tut-tutting over the seeming double standard – that some idiot girl like Megan Fox can talk about relationships with girls and it adds to her popularity, but when a rising male star talks about it, he has to worry about his career. I don’t know though – for one, I don’t trust Ted Casablanca, and while he might have A source who said that sh-t, it doesn’t mean it’s a source close to Hardy. Until I see Hardy backtrack on his (alleged) comments, I’ll hold back my criticism. Plus, I just wanted an excuse to post more photos of him and pretend he’s on his way (with Gerard Butler) for a threesome.

I don’t think he has to worry about his career being damaged by a sprinkling of bicurious quotes, does he? I mean, my god, how many people found his hotness suddenly multiplied by thousands when they read that story? Am I the only one who went, “Well. Now I HAVE to see HIS next movie”?

That boy is handsome. Not like THE HAMM HANDSOME but handsome nonetheless. Hollyweird’s double standards are annoying as fuck.

Ted Casablanca? Isn’t that the same man who swore that Brad/Jen were never going to get married, and that Brad/Angelina were going to split by the time Shiloh starts walking.

Yes, there’s a man of great wisdom!

He wasn’t on my radar until you posted his awesome quotes. I hope he doesn’t back pedal. That would suck. Cuz it makes being gay sound wrong. I hate when they do that. He will drop back off my radar if that story is confirmed. Until then I am going to keep my fingers and toes crossed.

Tom’s original interview was in Attitudes magazine . I hate when newspapers take excerpts from other publications out of context.they publish responses w/o publishing the question etc..

Sorry, Tom Hardy, I don’t know who you are but based on this quote it would never work out between us.

I like that he owned his past. He’s still hot as hell and would love to see more of him on the big screen, regardless of which side he bats or batted for.

I think it should be mandatory for attractive men to detail their bisexuality publicly. Someone get Giselle Bunchen to pass another ‘international law’.

Oh, I thought this was the dude that had all the tee shirts named after him. There is nothing he could do or say that could make those stupid Love Lies Bleeding tee shirts not look gay, especially when they are on spray tanned dudes with 15 inch biceps…

So happy that he’s coming around for some of you.

God, I am so excited about this man that I feel as though I ought to personally drum of support for his career or something.

Since he hasn’t actually stated a retraction, I’ll leave this be.

Sadly, there is a double standard and it’s not going away any time soon. I hate that they’re trying to take what he said back but at the same time I think it’s true that if, say, Tom Cruise and Will Smith were to come out as openly gay or bisexual then they would lose most of their audience…sad and unfair but true :(

In the original magazine article (which I read) he is asked outright if he has had sex with a man and he said no.

There is no backtracking, just follow-up stories have got it wrong!

  25. Rosette says:

Shoddy ‘journalism’ keeps repeating itself and online ‘articles’ are the worst culprits for cutting and pasting. Its sad when people just want scandal – its really a non story apart from exposing poor ‘journalism’. Which is the real scandal.

Tom Casablanca writes on E! Online
“We did a little digging around and found that the alleged interview was more than taken out of context —it was taken from an interview Hardy did two years ago:
“The Daily Mail was rehashing a 2008 article in Now magazine, which claimed to have interviewed Hardy where dropped the bisexual bomb. But Now totally ripped off Attitude magazine’s 2008 cover story with Tom back when he was promoting RocknRolla. You following?
“Hardy was on the December ’08 cover of Attitude, the UK’s best-selling gay magazine, where he talked about playing Handsome Bob, a gay mobster in Guy Richie’s flick.”
