Rosie O’Donnell & new gf have 10 kids together, call themselves ‘Gay-dy Bunch’

rosietracyheader
It was all of 9 months ago that we first heard that acerbic comedian Rosie O’Donnell had a new girlfriend, an artist who was raising six children, five of them adopted and several of whom had special needs. Rosie met her new girlfriend, Tracy Kachtick-Anders, online, after splitting up with her longterm partner, Kelli Carpenter. Tracy moved with four of her kids (her oldest is out of the house) from Galveston, Texas to live with Rosie and her four kids in Nyack, NY. Rosie explained that Tracy and her kids live in the house next door and it’s a challenge but they make it work. Rosie even calls them the “Gay-dy Bunch.” That’s cute!

Rosie O’Donnell and new girlfriend Tracy Kachtick-Anders share a whopping ten kids between them! “Tracy has six kids, she lives next door,” O’Donnell, 48, told UsMagazine.com at Monday’s Rosie’s Building Dreams for Kids Gala in NYC. The comic herself has four kids — Parker, 15, Chelsea, 13, Blake, 10, and Vivienne, 7 — with ex partner Kelli Carpenter.

“[Tracy’s] oldest is out of the house,” O’Donnell explained. “So it’s nine total. It’s a lot! We’re the Gay-dy Bunch!”

O’Donnell said the blended family arrangement is going “really good…It’s a challenge, but when you fall in love with someone, they come with a whole bunch of things, including children.” An artist, writer, inventor and midwife, Katchick-Anders has one biological child and five adopted kids.

“Part of the reason I fell in love with her was her love of kids,” the comic gushed. “She was a foster mom and took in 12, 13 kids, and adopted a whole bunch as well. She’s pretty amazing,” she said, adding that their relationship is going “very well.”

A rep for the star confirmed the couple’s relationship in late December, about a month after O’Donnell announced that she and Carpenter had been living apart for two years.

Another new chapter for O’Donnell: a new show premiering on the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) in January. She told Us the series will “be a single topic, one hour, daily strip in the afternoon. Real people, real topics, what America is talking about. It won’t be too much celebrities, or guests promoting something,” she explained. “We’ll do everything from autism to losing weight to what’s happening with Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. It’ll be a whole spectrum of stuff, similar to what [Oprah] does.”

[From US Weekly]

That’s really nice! I googled “Where does Rosie O’Donnell live” as I thought she might live in Miami. She has a huge compound in New York on the water, and I found satellite pictures and everything. (I’m not going to link it as it seems like an invasion of privacy, which I know is ripe coming from me.) They’re living well, let’s just say that, and Rosie owns several homes next to each other. It sounds like she’s really in love and like she found her match. Good for her.

In terms of her new show on Oprah’s OWN network, I guess I wish her well. I found her really nasty in her last years on The View, and I thought her variety show was awful. Oprah knows her from Sirius, though, and she knows what she’s getting into with Rosie. I loved Rosie’s talkshow from the late 90s/early 2000s but she was a happier person back then. Maybe she’s softened now that she has new love in her life. It sure looks like it.

Photos from Rosie’s blog, where there are photos of their kids. It looks like they all have a lot of fun and a happy, busy life.

I listen to Rosie’s radio show quite often and I really like it. I know there are a lot of people who can’t stand her, but I’m not one of them.

  2. LisaMarie says:

I’ve listened to her show a few times, and I really like it also. The format is nice and relaxed, I think she just does it from her home.

  3. Maritza says:

Rosie needs to take care of her skin, she is looking rough.

  4. Tess says:

    Your optimism is commendable C/B.

  5. Samigirl says:

Maybe now that she is happier, she will be nicer. She has a tendency to take her bad mood out on others, i.e. attacking elisabeth hassellbeck. (not that I like eh, just an example)

  6. nnire says:

i like rosie o’donnell and wish her well. i am frustrated that so many people are quick to judge her as this out of control monster, when really she’s just opinionated and sometimes comes across as too loud. these tendencies are often celebrated in other celebrities, but it’s clear that she has strikes against her for being overweight and gay, which is terrible.

rosie has done tons of work for children. i’d be really interested in seeing some data that showed which celebrities gave the most to charity pursuant to their respective fortunes. it’s easy to ‘give away’ a trip to Australia when the Australia tourism board is paying the bill, is all i’m saying.

  7. mln says:

I find her likeable but she definitely suffers from mental illness (she has admitted to depression). And her outburts in the public eye were over the top. He is hoping she has turned a corner and is living a quieter life.

  8. lilred says:

    They do look happy together.

  9. Maddie says:

Sorry but moving your kids across country to hook up with someone you met on the internet is tacky don’t care if that some one is famous.

With Rosie personality I doubt this will last, she will mess it up some how.

  10. Moi aussi says:

I love her as well. She suffers from depression…as do millions of others and she’s very up front about her struggles. I’m sorry Maddie is so sour. I hope you work out your issues, Maddie!

  11. California Surfer says:

Whoa, I totally respect these people more than those litter families on TlC 🙂

  12. LindyLou says:

Good for them. I’m not a Rosie fan but I’m glad she seems to have found someone who makes her happy.

  13. Tia C says:

Looks like they are having a nice life together. Good for her! She deserves some peace and happiness after all her various struggles.

  14. girl says:

I hope she is finding happiness. She really seemed bitter there for a while.

And I hope she isn’t still a truther.

  15. GatsbyGal says:

@California Surfer – I know, right? I want to watch this reality show.

Still, I think Rosie’s gonna mess it up somehow.

  16. Kelly says:

The sun damage in that picture – AAAGH, my eyes! I can’t stand looking at people who destroy their faces. I have a few colleagues like that and I can barely concentrate on what they’re saying, since I’m trying to send the telepathic message, “SUNSCREEN/ACID PEEL.”

Anyhoo, I wish them both well. I have no opinion about Rosie’s public persona – never watched The View – but props to both of them – in fact, props to anyone who opens her home to special needs kids, older adoptees… Much respect.

  17. original kate says:

i lost all respect for rosie when it came out in court that she told one of her former magazine employees (and a cancer survivor) that “people who lie get cancer.” evidently the employee was to testify against rosie in her suit against her publishers. alot of her employees over the years have said rosie is a very angry person. sounds like she is a nasty, bombastic bitch who should wear some damn sunscreen. having said that, her kids are cute and look happy, so perhaps she is a better mother than a person.

  18. LindaR says:

I didn’t like Rosie until I listened to her Sirius radio show. It’s not bad. Maybe it’s because I don’t have to look at her. She has a face for radio.

  19. Mary Jane says:

Maybe she could do her first show on racism and how it’s not OK to do Chinese eyes — e’en if you’re a kid.

  20. Jennifer says:

I think they make a happy, cute couple, Rosie and Tracy!

  21. Laura says:

Mary Jane-I made that face all the time as a kid and never thought it was a racial thing. Just facial distortion.

  22. EMV says:

    um…good for them…

  23. Messenger says:

I am glad to hear this couple is going strong. They will endure. I loved Rosie’s talk show and I also watched her on the View. If she seemed testy toward the end it was because she was constantly attacked by the republican Hasselbeck who did not like her politics or her life style choice. I was watching that show intermittently until I caught on to the “format”. She did the same thing to Starr Jones who is a staunch liberal. Now with Whoopie there, things seemed to have calmed down. She wouldn’t dare pull any of her holier than thou crap with Whoopie; she’ll snap her like a twig. Rosie’s new show will be great because just like her radio show, it has Rosie O’Donnell. She is happy and found true love. That is always grounding and blissful, but don’t attribute Rosie’s “behavior” to her personal life. The onus belongs to Hasselbeck. Emphasis on the hassel.

  24. taysnana says:

As far as Rosie’s new relationship, that’s her business. Hope things work out – it seems as though they have many things in common as well as enough differences to make life interesting. Concerning Rosie, I think she’s great! Listen to her show daily; love, love, love it! I feel like she and her staff are my friends, truly enjoy the different personalities. Would love to sit in and add my 2 cents at times. Honestly don’t understand all the commotion and negative comments that are made; if you listen to her you hear someone who truly cares about her fellow man. I’d be proud to call her my friend.
