Heidi Klum’s Cavalli gown: budget beauty queen or amazing?

wenn3023435

This are photos of Heidi Klum last night in Milan for the big amFAR event. The dress is apparently Roberto Cavalli – Heidi was at the Cavalli show yesterday too, so I suppose she picked up something for the amFAR event. Even though the dress is slightly boring, I like it. I prefer Heidi when she’s doing straight-up glamour, rather than avant garde stuff, or inappropriate-for-the-occasion stuff. Like wearing a minidress to the Emmys (not cool). So it’s nice to Heidi in a pretty, formal gown at a formal evening event.

That being said, it’s slightly beauty-queen. If Heidi had gone for big hair, it really would have been beauty queen, but she wisely went for a sleeker hairstyle. When I first saw these photos, I began thinking about Marlene Dietrich. For a brief time, Dietrich wore her hair like this, and I’ve always thought that Heidi must consider Dietrick one of her top style icons. But honestly, aren’t you just happy that Heidi is growing out the mom-bangs-trauma?

Speaking of trauma, Heidi still has her bangs on the episodes of Project Runway. SPOILER: Weren’t you just thrilled as can be that Ivy was cut off last week? I had been waiting for that bitch to fail for so long. Even though Valerie really deserved to go home (for real), Ivy has been putting out horrendous stuff for weeks, and she’s horrible. The real surprise, for me, was how much the judges loved Gretchen’s cheesy peasant frontier-woman fug gowns. What the hell? Sometimes I really do wonder if Michael and Nina and Heidi smoke crack before they judge.

It’s hard to believe she’s had 4 kids, and all she’s gotten is a little hip-py.

  2. supersleuth says:

I love the dress, although, the top doesn’t quite seem to fit right. The hair is a little too greasy looking for me.

  3. Lee says:

Wow, she’s attractive, but no beauty, and the lack of long flowing locks sure emphasizes that fact. She, like Canalis, has a bit of a man face.

  4. guesty says:

the top of the dress is ok…but overall…meh. looks inexpensive.

  5. Girafe99 says:

It looks a poor fit on her and without, the extra material flowing down the front, the dress would look better.

@Lee, I think she has a much prettier face than Canalis, but you’re right about her not being a ‘beauty’ but still being very attractive

  6. happymom says:

Wow. She really looks German in these pictures. I’ll leave it at that.

  7. womanfromthenorth says:

    I like it… hair a bit odd

  8. serena says:

Wow. This is an amazing outfit. She looks gorgeous.
No jewels and a slightly tanned skin are perfect on her and this look.
    Simply beautiful.

  9. nycmom10024 says:

She is stunning! Certainly everyone is entitled to their opinion, but unless that is you Halle or you Portman, or even you Brinkly – to say she is just attractive, well…

  10. Oi says:

I love the dress, but not on her maybe? She doesn’t sell it to me. Maybe it needs a brunette?

  11. margo says:

I don’t find her that great, but she comes across so well

  12. RHONYC says:

considering that body has pumped out 4 kiddies…i vote yes! she looks great…in anything! 🙂

  13. Ferguson. says:

I think the dress is not bad, but I’m with @Oi, she doesn’t sell it to me, I don’t LOVE it. I don’t know if it needs a burnette or what, but it doesnt fit RIGHT, it’s like she’s wearing a gorgeous dress but she doesnt pull it off, maybe her hair has something to do with it.

  14. Brooke says:

The dress is pretty but, though well-styled, is not her best showing. Love the Marcel waves; she is darling.

  15. Donna Wingfield says:

She always seems to make my worst-dressed list.

  16. JR says:

Heidi Klum is my go-to woman when someone wants to whine about celebrity privacy. She can show up at an event, rock a gorgeous gown and go home to raise her kids.

Quick — how many does she have? Names, ages? She confirmed the birth of each in the press and is seen out and about with them and Seal frequently. So, yea, it IS possible to satisfy the public’s curiosity about your children without making them into public figures. It’s a balance.

    Take note, Sacha and Isla!

  17. spinner says:

She resembles Cybil Shepherd (sp?) here. I think the dress is beautiful, if a bit understated.

  18. WYIJM says:

I don’t care what she wears, she’s awesome! Her and Seal may be my favourite celeb couple, I totally buy that they are deeply in love.

  19. Ron says:

the dress is beautiful. she could use some earrings though.

  20. K-MAC says:

reminds me of a Bob Mackie dress!!!! Love it!! she looks superb 🙂

  21. Bodhi says:

    I’d kill for her body!!

    @ JR~ Why mention Sacha & Ilsa?

  22. PsychicEyes says:

I am going to agree with Kunty Karl when he said she’s not a supermodel. Seriously, I don’t know who gave her that title but I am not seeing it either.

As for the dress, meh, I am not feeling it: colour is wrong for her skin, the fitting accentuates all the wrong body areas, slick back hairstyle makes her head appear much smaller to the rest of her body, and finally, why could she not wear a shawl to cover the tattoo?

There are people who wear clothes and there are those whose clothes wears them.

Two thumbs down…Kunty Karl would agree.

  23. Jackson says:

Hmmm. I could see a pageant girl wearing this gown, but dammmmn I love it! I’d wear it in a heartbeat…provided I had someplace suitably fancy to wear it to. Love the neutral color.

  24. Xx says:

I dont see anything wrong with that dress. It is beautiful

  25. Sumodo1 says:

The top is too tight, otherwise, fantastic. Love the Marcel wave.

  26. LolaBella says:

Meh, I’m not feeling this look on her at all; it’s a little too ‘Taylor Swift’ for my liking. This dress would be spectacular in a jewel tone and with her hair more around her face.

However, there is no denying that Heidi looks great and happy.

  27. shouldbeworking says:

Um… I think she lost her looks and her time is over as a beauty queen…

  28. Ruby Red Lips says:

For a woman with 4 kids she looks stunning!

And even for a woman of her age w/o 4 kids she’d still look stunning!

She may not be the most beautiful faced woman in the world but there can be no denying she’s gorgeous

  29. Mrs. Kalifornia says:

    @Kaiser

TOTALLY WITH U ON IVY AND GRETCHEN’S FUG PEASANT DRESS!! IT’S TIME FOR HER TO GO TOO!!!!

I love how much they hate on the chubby guy and his stuff is what appeals to most. “He can’t do contruction…bla bla bla.” Blinded by hate. Biatches.

  30. devilgirl says:

Love the gown. Hate the hair.

  31. Linda says:

She’s one of the most beautiful women in the world. Love the dress except it’s a little scrunched on the top.

  32. PsychicEyes says:

    @Kaiser

    ***

The late Marlene Dietrich wore the sleek hairstyles beautifully because it accentuated her strong facial bone features. Whereas Heidi it had the opposite effect.

  33. I Choose Me says:

Hey! I liked Gretchen’s cheesy peasant frontier-woman fug gowns. It was well constructed and I loved the fabric and the colours and the way it flowed (although I do agree that the back looked better than the front) It’s the kind of easy, breezy and comfortable look that I would wear. I also totally dug the blue gray ready to wear outfit. 🙂

  34. Lynda says:

I want to see a guy that has put in as much damage on their body as 4 kids do to a woman and then compare. Bless her and other Moms who still have it and always will. Some of these current empty headed bimbos couldn’t figure out how to even become a mother. How can one compare this lady to something like Snooki or a Kardashian or a Kat V. D? Geeezzz…

  35. citmyway says:

Did I miss the memo on her getting a tattoo?

  36. Sally says:

She looks gorgeous, though the top is a little ill-fitting.

  37. Mistral says:

Love the dress! How can anyone say she isn’t gorgeous?? She is very pretty and her body is amazing. I agree that she never was a “supermodel” (love you Karl L), but she’s definitely a well-known swim suit/lingerie model, and a TV personality, so there.

  38. Chicoulina says:

Kaiser I agree 100% with you! Finally someone saying things as they are!
I couldn’t stand Ivy.Everytime she talked I wanted to punch her in the face.I also get a headache after hearing Valerie talk. She should go next.Gretchen has horrible taste.I really like Michael C. and I think it’s unfair the way almost everyone is treating him.He has made some wonderful clothes much better then most of the ones the high shots have made.
This season of Project Runway is way off. Most of them are so mean.
As for Heidi her hair is horrible on Project Runway. Her taste is questionable.

  39. original kate says:

i wish her hair was looser, more fingerwave-y. overall though i think she looks pretty.

  40. OtherChris says:

I think she’s beautiful, but I like her best in casual clothing.

  41. lucy2 says:

It’s a bit glittery, but I really like it. Not crazy about the hair, but I think she’s very pretty.
That tattoo wrecks the look a little for me though.

  42. Rosanna says:

This hairstyle doesn’t look good on her. As for the rest, I love her! She sure has no class, but is hot and opinionated. Everything a woman should be.

  43. Brandy says:

I’ll never understand why she is lauded as some great beauty.

  44. Jag says:

The top isn’t fitted properly, but that’s a beautiful gown.

  45. SoulLovah says:

oh….i kind of liked the Mom Bangs… *slowly ducks head in shame*

The dress is everything you said, pretty and simple but 1 rhinestone away from pageant
