Malin Akerman is probably replacing Lindsay Lohan on ‘Inferno’

LOS ANGELES - NOV 13: Malin Akerman arrives at the MOCA's Annual Gala The Artist's Museum Happening 2010 at Museum of Contemporary Art on November 13, 2010 in Los Angeles, CA Photo via Newscom Photo via Newscom

Yesterday, we covered The Firing of The Blohan – Lindsay Lohan was apparently booted off of Inferno, the Linda Lovelace biopic. According to Inferno’s director Matthew Wilder, the whole thing went down because he (finally) came to conclusion that Lindsay is an uninsurable nightmare crackhead, and he wanted to go in a different direction. Note: Camp Blohan is trying to spin this is in a “I didn‘t get fired, I totally quit” way. A source told Radar, “Lindsay has realized that in order to get her life and career back on track, she has to be very selective with her projects. She wants to pursue projects like the ones that made her successful. She also realizes that she doesn’t need to identify with roles that relate to issues she dealt with. Everyone on her treatment team has stressed that.” I don’t really see how this is Lindsay’s choice when no one wants to insure her, you know? So that a big fat “whatevs Lindsay.” Anyhoodle, Radar is trying to steal E! News thunder and announce Lindsay’s replacement – Malin Akerman:

Director Matthew Wilder has wasted no time in replacing Lindsay Lohan as the star of his upcoming Inferno, RadarOnline.com has learned.

He’s brought in superhot Malin Akerman to star in the Linda Lovelace biopic, Deadline Hollywood is reporting.

Malin, who shot to fame in the Vince Vaughn comedy Couples Retreat, is now costarring with Jennifer Aniston and Paul Rudd in Wanderlust, shooting in New York.

RadarOnline.com was the first to reveal that Wilder was backing away from his long support of the troubled Lohan to star in his movie. On Wednesday he told us he had a “Plan B” in place. And yesterday, Wilder told us it was a done deal. “We’ve fired Lindsay,” he said, revealing that “we’ve already lined up somebody else who we are really happy with.”

Lindsay’s camp is insisting she wasn’t fired, it was her decision to pull out of the film. Either way, Akerman is a great “get” for Wilder and moves the project up several notches. There’s no word yet on when they’ll start shooting.

Lindsay is set to complete her court-ordered treatment at the Betty Ford Center on January 3.

[From Radar]

Yes, Malin is a much better candidate than anyone I could come up with. She’s not really A-list, but she’s solid B-list, and she gets a lot of supporting/character work in films. Plus, she had the decency to try and avoid Gerard Butler when he was groping her, for which I kind of love her. And she’s not a jacked up crackhead. All in all, worlds better than Blohan. But will Malin really be comfortable with how degrading the script is? Or will there be other changes too? Eh.

Here are some photos of Lindsay and her jacked lips on Friday. Only a crackhead would pose outside of a court-ordered rehab facility like this – like she was in Paris for the shows. Jesus.

Crackhead pose is that what we call it now? the only thing missing is White Oprah standing behind her posing with her latest toothbrush invention

  2. Malin says:

I hate that I share a name with this nobody. I hate that she calls herself Swedish too when she only lived there for like a year. Bitch is Canadian.

  3. Innocent says:

I don’t know who this person is but why would she want to do this movie ?
It’s disgusting and this creepy director is very inexperienced.

Lindsay didn’t sign the contract, refused to meet with them outisde of rehab and wasn’t enamoured with parts of the script.
If she was actually “fired” it would have been before now.

Look at the timeline Lindsay hasn’t other than talking to her P.O about it because she wanted out of rehab early she mentioned this movie since the July Vanity Fair interview.

“Only a crackhead would pose outside of a court-ordered rehab facility like this”

Lol yeah those pics don’t look like someone that is in rehab.

  4. Hautie says:

Well at least this time Lohan wore leggings with her shirt.

I bet the neighbors are thrilled to have the paparazzi hanging out. 24/7. Blocking their drives.

I bet the people in the house is not thrilled with her calling the paparazzi either.

  5. Red Riding Hood says:

    Omg her lips!!!!

Even now as a sober person you can see all the damage on her face….sad sad sad

Innocent – who are you?? A stalker or a Lohan or a paid Lohan employee???

Edit – actually Innocent u can’t be a Lohan because you can spell sovscrap that one!

  6. REALIST says:

Excuse me, but I’m lost here. First of all, I can’t think of a modern life that was more tragic than Linda Lovelace’s. Even if an A list director took this movie on, the movie would be so depressing no one would see it. Unlike “Boogie Nights”, this is a true story where the protagonist is exploited, then lives out the rest of her life in shame and illness. Malin Ackerman seems like an attractive woman on her way up, why muddy up her career with this ordeal?
Actually, Lohan would have been the perfect choice. She has personal experience to add to her role (drug abuse), and she took to the promo photos with such gusto!

  7. Bunny says:

Yeah, I surprised Malin would be in this picture.

  8. mslewis says:

I think, if done right, this Lovelace movie could be pretty good. The movie should be done by more experienced people but, really, Malin Ackerman is a great choice, if she insists on some script changes. Remember “Monster” which was based on a woman who had the worse life of anybody I had ever heard about and it turned out to be a good movie. (Nobody saw it but it copped a sh!tload of awards and an Oscar for Charlize.)

The REAL problem is that Malin Ackerman is risking being known as the actress who was picked for a part AFTER Lindsay Lohan quit/was fired. Accepting Lilo’s sloppy seconds can’t be good for a career.

  9. Samigirl says:

LIlo kills me. She is so carefree looking in these pix. I swear she still does not get it. Prolly never will. Anywho, I like this Malin chick. But I think this movie is a terrible choice for anyone. Creeps me out.
I would also like to point out that regardless of where Malin was born, she could be of Swedish nationality. My father is Hispanic, but an American citizen. So.

  10. Anna says:

Say it ain’t so! I love Malin, she was golden in Watchmen, why would she take on such a tainted movie? No good can come of this for her career. Gosh, they should just flush that movie down the drain and move on.
Also: I just saw LiLo in Machete yesterday and she’s essentially playing her crackhead self, complete with horrid blonde extensions. It was so sad to see her that way, it wasn’t even funny anymore in the context of the movie. She has lost any and all spark and talent she once had. Tragic.

  11. Jen D says:

    @Malin: Yeesh, why the hate?

  12. Malin says:

Someone actually liked her in Watchmen? She was the worst part of that terrible movie!

  13. bellaluna says:

Malin Akerman has actually been growing on me as an actress, but I really doubt this is a career-advancing move.

I agree; the role was tailor-made for Blohan. Who better to play a crackhead than a crackhead?

@ Malin ~ Watchmen is one of the worst movies EVER, across the board. I’ve tried watching that stinker at least 4 times, and I haven’t been able to bear even 5 minutes of it. Everything about that movie stunk (with the exception of the Rorschach character).

FYI, according to IMDB, she was born in Sweden (to Swedish parents), moved to Canada at age 2, is fluent in Swedish, and celebrates Swedish holidays. She also considers herself both Swedish & Canadian. 🙂

  14. LOVE ANGELINA says:

I think alot of people miss the point of ACTING. I have never understood this obsession with “Oh yea her life is exactly like that she should play this part” or vice versa.

Its called getting into character…you have to transform yourself, leave who your are behind, and step into another person’s shoes. I think of it like reviving the dead, giving life. I think thats what should win actors awards, how much of the character’s life were you able to bring alive? Still at the end of the day…its all smoke and mirrors, its not real.

This movie that seems to have alot of you up in arms, if done right, could be an amazing. Depressing yea maybe but not everybody lives a life of rainbows and sunshine. If whoever plays this part can truly show all the emotional range from having a good time at one point to anguish, because this woman lived a hard life, then that could be a performance of a lifetime. If its handled in a cheesy matter thats the real problem.

I love Malin Akerman BTW. I first saw her in the Heartbreak Kid, which to me was a very funny movie. Then 27 Dresses which, I love, lol, and then in Watchmen. She wasn’t as strong in that movie but I do love that movie.

  15. mm says:

I like Malin but I don’t like anything about a movie about Linda Lovelace. Yech.

  16. argirl says:

I think Lindsay looks pretty. Her hair looks like it might be a relatively natural color for her, at least at the roots. Her pretty green eyes are clear. She is reminiscent of her earlier pre-crackhead days. Of course, the location of her pose along with her carefree expression are worrisome. Hopefully she is just “acting.”

  17. Majosha says:

I thought Malin was terrible in “Watchmen.” I loved the movie, though, but not nearly as much as the comic.

  18. normades says:

Remember when she turned down the hooker role in the Hangover?

With Lindsay’s luck this film will go on to be an indie hit and win an Oscar for her replacement.

“She wants to pursue projects like the ones that made her successful. ” hahahahaha Delusional much??

  19. photo jojo says:

I can’t believe anyone would want to get on board with this picture.

  20. Kate says:

Can you have the decency to report really report for once? The paps were following the BF van and arguing with the driver from BF.Lindsay accepted to pose for a few pics so the paps will leave the front lawn. Why so negative?

  21. Liana says:

Malin: “I hate that I share a name with this nobody.”

    **********

I’m sure she would feel the same way about you. *shrugs*

The success of the movie depends completely upon the hand of the director. The script still needs a bit of work (read it, it’s OK, but needs a lot of refining). This could either be a tragic tour de force or a complete gutter relegated piece of crap, it all depends on the directing and the script refinements.

  22. Alejandro says:

The film has flop written all over it. I’d be very surprised if it gets filmed at all and if it does my bet is on straight to dvd.

    @Kate

But did Lilo have to pose with such gusto if that was really the case? She looks like she’s thoroughly enjoying her photo session with the paps.

  23. DetRiotgirl says:

I didn’t think Watchmen was terrible. But, it had the most awkward sex scene ever in it. I swear, that sex scene felt like it made up a third of the movie! And it was set to “halleljujah” no less, also a song that drags on to infinity!

I will never forget the intense hang of “ummm… Is this over yet?” going around that theater. I could have gotten up, gone to the refreshment stand, argued with the guy about how “the last time I was at this theater drinks were a dollar cheaper!”, gone back to theater, realized that I wanted popcorn too, shamefully apologized to the concession guy for my cheapness, purchased a small popcorn because I am secretly still cheap, come back to my seat a second time… And that sex scene still would have been going! It was the sex scene that wouldn’t quit!

As for this movie, eh. It could be interesting in a tragic kind of way. But, more likely it will be a degrading, animal and drug laced version of the sex scene mentioned above. An hour and a half of something even Lilo wouldn’t do? I think I’ll pass.

  24. Marjalane says:

    8.mslewis:
November 21st, 2010 at 12:24 pm I think, if done right, this Lovelace movie could be pretty good.

How do you begin to portray sex with a dog in any kind of positive light?! I can’t believe any self respecting actress would have anything to do with this film.

  25. Taurus says:

This Malin chick has that I snort coke off of toilet seats look goin on. #justsayin
I think lindsey looks great in those pics. Her lips doont look bad, they have looked worse in the past.

    MJ FOR HGF!

  26. gamblea says:

love how she made a huge show of lifting her sunglasses and getting close up no crack eyes shots.

  27. Bodhi says:

She doesn’t look too bad from far away, but the close up photo? Yeesh! She looks TERRIBLE

  28. bellaluna says:

@ Taurus – OK, I’ll bite; MJ circa Thriller, yes for HGF. Just out of curiosity, what era MJ are you thinking of? Also, are you truly a Taurus? (Just wondering, from one Taurus to another.)

  29. katyalia says:

‘She wants to pursue projects like the ones that made her successful.’

How on earth does she plan to get cast as a 12 or even 16 y/o?

@ normades: ‘With Lindsay’s luck this film will go on to be an indie hit and win an Oscar for her replacement.’

That’s what I thought as well. I think Malin is great and her name could potentially clean up the whole concept of this movie.

  30. LittleDeadGirl says:

I have no issue with the movie being depressing and even dark but I honestly think it’s going to be torture porn and I don’t understand paying money to see that. What am I supposed to be from a movie like that? I got to movies to either be inspired, to be thoughtful, or to be entertained or hopefully all three. Seeing a woman degraded to such a degree doesn’t fulful any of those requirements. I hope Malin doesn’t do it since I do like her as an actress … either way don’t care who is in this role I won’t be seeing this movie unless they really sell it to me as something other than torture porn

  31. No Sensei says:

wow – Lindsay’s started using this site!

  32. Ruby Red Lips2 says:

I’m sure Kaiser & CB have already heard this – but interesting link about Lindsay having to spend her holidays with her Dad!!!

    http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/showbiz/news/a289011/lohan-must-stay-with-father-for-holidays.html

  33. Lia says:

Akerman had a pretty good career going. It’s a shame she decided to kill it with this movie. Some people are their own worst enemies.

  34. HotPockets says:

Malin seems like a likable girl but every since I saw her acting in Watchmen, it was horrible! I couldn’t get over how bad she was in that movie.

She is great in romantic comedies, but anything with her having to be serious and deep, the girl cannot pull off. It’s the same complaints with Megan fox, terrible acting, but sometimes mediocre in the right type of movie. This movie needs a girl who can act, but isn’t on the radar quite yet.

  35. devilgirl says:

@Malin- Well she is more of a somebody than you are.

  36. Jen D says:

I didn’t mind her in Watchmen, though I found her a bit young to be playing Laurie. Linda Lovelace’s life sounded terrible, and I hope this movie isn’t going to exploit her any further (although I’m not sure that’s possible). I will say this: Malin Ackerman has guts for a) signing on to such a controversial movie and b) going for a role that used to be associated with Lindsay Lohan. Good luck with that!

  37. Heather says:

Linds is looking good. Being sober has done wonders for her face.

  38. citysuede says:

except for the jacked lips, this is the best she has looked in a long time…don’t you think?

  39. Shelley says:

If you read the Wiki entry on Lovelace, there is no way this movie can be other than dark and grim. What a horrible life. I thought there were issues with her family not OKing this film? Do they have a legal right to block it? I don’t know how these things work. She had 2 children but I haven’t heard anything about them or if they’ve filed legal action to stop this film, or to at least have some input into the script. And where is Chuck Traynor, who will be presumably trashed in this film if portrayed as even 1/2 as horrible as Lovelace and others claim him to have been? Wouldn’t he likely object to that?

  40. maria says:

Why would any actress want this role? It sounds horrible.

  41. Bitter fruit says:

Malin. Rent ‘Showgirls’. Count how many careers that movie took out. Then get a lawyer 😆

  42. bixby says:

“She wants to pursue projects like the ones that made her successful. She also realizes that she doesn’t need to identify with roles that relate to issues she dealt with.”

So after years of crackhead shenanagins and hard living she intends to play a youthful tween in a Parent Trap or Freaky Friday remake…because she can still TOTALLY pass for a teen model?!

  43. dorothy says:

Sad. I like her as an actress. She will ruin her career with this movie.

  44. Jay says:

One would think that if she quit, the producers wouldn’t instantly have a replacement. However, if the producers decided to ditch her, they’d find the replacement first and then let her go. It looks a lot more like the latter. Plus, if it were her decision then they’d be issuing the follow-up rebuttal statement to her announcement, not the other way around.

  45. jc126 says:

What an idiot. As someone said above, there is NO way this movie can be anything other than dark, grim, and tragic. I was looking at a few more promo shots on TMZ just now, and they’re totally disgusting.

  46. happygirl says:

I’m surprised to hear this. I really like Malin…I never really saw her as someone who’d be interested in this role. Hmmm…

  47. lasherola says:

Ha…. we call her T-Rex Face!! I just can Not find this woman attractive. She just seemed waaaaay too believable in her bitch roles; The Heartbreak Kid – she was a theiving skank hooker with no morals, 27 Dresses – she was a back stabbing, shallow, lying, boyfriend stealing, skank ass sister, with seriously ugly squashed boobs. I know, harsh, but I cant stand her.

  48. Jenna says:

why would Malin EVER take a role like that???? she is sooo far above that crap.

  49. Hollowdoll says:

I am surprised that Malin is considering the role. I like Watchmen and her acting didn’t bother me. It’s so funny that Lindsey thinks we will believe she didn’t get fired that she decided to walk away from the movie. Yeah right. Lindsey has never walked away from attention in her life.

  50. fizXgirl314 says:

Actually, Acherman is a fairly decent actress… She was sooooooooooooo funny in “the heartbreak kid” and she was seriously gorgeous in the Watchmen… she looked like she could kick some ass instead of say ahem angelina jolie ahem…
