Rumer Willis is shadowy, hairy in new Badgley Mischka ads

rumer2

Last month, it was announced that Rumer Willis had gotten a job… as a model. She was named the new “face” of Badgley Mischka, and she’s starring in the fashion house’s 2011 ads. Here are three of the ads – I apologize for the weird cropping, they’re from Just Jared and I hate having that site’s watermark all over the place. As far as Rumer as Model: eh. She’s not hideous. I appreciate that the photographer (Tony Duran) did everything he could to hide parts of her face with shadows and hair and even her shoulder and hand, anything to distract from her football-shaped head. Now, I’m not saying Rumer is ugly, I’m really not. I’m saying she’s a crappy model and they should have gotten someone else. But apparently the whole situation is a lovefest!

The moment has finally arrived to see Rumer Willis as the newest face of star-beloved brand Badgley Mischka. Last month we showed you a behind-the-scenes look at Rumer being fit in a glam bedazzled dress with floral appliqués. Now we’ve got the first images of the actress as seen through the lens of famed fashion photographer Tony Duran.

The eldest daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis follows in the footsteps of stars including Eva Longoria, Carrie Underwood and Ashley and Mary-Kate Olsen, who have also posed for the iconic brand.

“It was so amazing to play on the beach in beautiful and timeless gowns,” Willis enthused about her latest turn in front of the cameras, shot surf-side in Malibu, Calif. “I felt like a princess.” And the love is returned.

“Rumer is a great muse for the season,” designers Mark Badgley and James Mischka said in a statement. “She has a vivacious spirit to her; she is young and modern, which is representative of our spring collection.”

The images, which will feature eveningwear, footwear, jewelry and more from the design duo, are slated to break in March magazines.

[From People]

God, climb out of each other’s asses. Rumer is “young and modern”? A “great muse”? What are they smoking, and can I get some? You know they were two seconds away from comparing Rumer to Grace Kelly and even People Magazine was like “Um, shut it down.”

  1. Jayna says:

And, no offense, I like the girl, but doing all that camaflouge she is still an average-looking girl, not model material. Sorry. They could have picked a lot better.

  2. brin says:

Maybe you aren’t saying she’s ugly, Kaiser, but I am. Two reasons she got this gig…Bruce & Demi.

  3. eja102 says:

you can’t compare rumer to grace kelly.

that being said, she looks great. all she needs to do have her hair in her face all the time and keep her hand up.

I feel a little bitchy today, it’s true. usually I try not to comment on people’s looks per se, but this girl is so unfortunate. I hope she has a pleasant personality.

  4. guesty says:

you know when you scroll down the page…her whole face disappears so the gorgeous clothes can be enjoyed without any distractions.

lmao @ football head!! so true.

but to say something nice…her bod is rockin these dresses. she’s definitely owning it.

  5. WhiteNoise says:

Normally, I like her looks and think she’s attractive in an interesting and non-conformist way, and I like that, but these pics are really awkward looking and badly posed. And just… uninspiring and totally blah.

They wouldn’t make me want to check out the product or the designer so fail on that score.

  6. Toe says:

Yes yes, she is average looking, but i like the pictures here. She looks nice in the light pinkish dress. She’s not modeling for Maybeline or Revlon, she is doing clothing. The pictures are just fine, stop hating.

  7. Lee says:

Oh be nice…at least she is not potted up, shot up, heroined up, liquored up or caused any car accidents. Let her be!

  8. hatsumomo says:

In the second photo the angle of her face is odd. Like they either tried to photoshop the jaw line or her having her face shot from below and facing up is a really bad pose for her. Almost every angle is a bad angle of her.

  9. Rita says:

The very definition of homely is when even bitches are trying to be polite. I think she’s an inspiration to every unfortunate looking girl dreaming of their 15 min of fame. If she’s a nice person though, I’ll bat for her.

  10. eja102 says:

bad angles, but does she have good ones, really?

  11. benny says:

Yeah, her face isn’t that great. But at least she doesn’t look as anorexically thin and sickly as most professional models, so I kinda like her in these ads.

  12. Ferguson. says:

WHY CANT SHE JUST CLOSE HER MOUTH?

    it annoys me.

Sorry, now… I agree with @guesty, her body looks great in these dresses.

  13. kai says:

I love it when people defend whatever useless celebrity by saying at least they’re not falling out of clubs drunk and naked, causing accidents and so on.

    low standards.

  14. Becky R says:

I wonder how many dresses her Mother bought in exchange for her daughters’ “job”. Just sayin…..

  15. MNGIRL76 says:

WTF? She got that job solely based on her parents fame, fortune, status in
Hollywood. I would love to see her walk into a modeling agency without them or her last name! I’m not saying she is ugly, but come on! A model she is not.

  16. Elfie says:

Well.. This is the best her face has looked anyway.

  17. Faye says:

I think she looks pretty. The first dress looks so classy on her. The last dress is so floaty and soft, I think she looks great in it.

The middle picture, I’m not sure what they were going for exactly. A beached mermaid?

  18. OtherChris says:

She looks pretty good in these pictures. I’m happy to say that because now I am convinced that I am a super model too.

  19. Johanna says:

I love how they tried to camouflage her face (in her case, nearly impossible). Then, why bother hiring her in the first place?

  20. Praise St. Angie! says:

sigh…she’s trying SO hard to make the “fame” thing happen.

too bad for her…she’s not talented enough to be an actress and (sorry, I know this is harsh) not pretty enough to be a model. Agree, she got the gig because of who her parents are. If she were some random girl who was pursuing a modeling career, she’d be laughed out of every agency.

She doesn’t need to be famous. she can use Mom & Dad’s money to get a very good education and find a career outside of hollywood.

I know, I know…she doesn’t want a career outside of hollywood. too bad for her (again) that the public will likely reject her repeatedly. as they already have…

I will say this about her (as Lee pointed out), at least she isn’t living her life wasted and partying…at least she’s TRYING to make a living.

  21. Jayna says:

Rita, your first sentence cracked me up. Actually, she’s very nice. I saw her on Letterman and was impressed. Very poised and charming for her age, and she was very articulate and funny. She’s actually prettier in person than in still photos and she had a flattering haircut, which helped. They raised a very nice young woman.

  22. lulu says:

    Tragic hair.

I honestly think she does have some spunk and a unique look. Did they strip her of any, and all, spunk and uniqueness? Yep.

  23. Sigh. says:

    I’m sayin’…

So if they were going to —
    1. cover her potato head with 10 pounds of hair,
    2. then have it blow all in her face,
    3. when rarely photographed “straight on (not from below or over-the-shoulder),” AND
    4. in low-lighting,
    5. ultimately making her “mall glam prettier,” then

…couldn’t they have literally gotten almost ANYONE to do this?

This reinforces the rule — Most actors should act, not model. Most models should model, not act. Singers fall in either category.

  24. Tess says:

Shadowy and hairy. That’s the ticket.

And let’s NOT feel guilty for releasing the inner bitches. She signs up for this when she puts herself in front of the public in return for rather a large paycheck, may we agree?

  25. Deniz says:

I don’t understand why she would want to be a model. I’m sure she knows exactly what she looks like…Plus, if I were her, I would be embarrassed because everyone knows that the only reason she got this modeling gig is because of who her parents are, not her looks.

  26. alibeebee says:

Okay she is not very pretty.. she’s nice but something is off with her features.. something that doesn’t work for me. she should close her mouth too.. but i dont think it would help.. Demi and Bruce sure made some strange looking kids.. like all those individually good features just worked out wrong on the kids.

  27. Xx says:

Every trick in the book was pulled out for this shoot. She looks good, though. The clothes are great. the powers that be did a good job with her on this shoot.

  28. BetsyD says:

It must be so hard for Demi having such an unfortunate looking daughter.

The open mouth makes her look like she is in pain. Looking at her face puts me in pain *opens mouth in awkward manner*

  29. TRedd says:

This was all about who your mom and dad are. And thank GOD they cammo’d that CHIN – YIKES!

  30. Vi says:

i don’t like to be nasty about peoples looks but she is just not model material. her face just isn’t pretty.

  31. Anti-icon says:

The Badgley Mischka brand just lost TONS of credibility. Why would they hire Rumer Willis to model their exquisite clothing? Something stinks in Denmark.

  32. bubbles says:

Whenever I look at her I feel like her face is distorted by some sort of a funhouse mirror and I twist and tilt my head to be able to see what and why anyone could possibly see in that visage?! it’s not only unfortunate, it’s brutal.

  33. JenJen says:

    @OtherChris- LOL….

I saw her on a show behind the scenes of one of her “shoots” and she was awkwardly “whipping her hair” she couldn’t be less graceful. I think she said something like you can’t help but do it when you hear that song. One problem tho,it’s not her hair!

  34. JuJuBee says:

She’s just so uninspiring. Aren’t models supposed to make you want the clothes, looks and lifestyle? Fail on all accounts Rumer darling.

  35. Arianna says:

i just laughed so hard at all of these comments

if i ever became famous (never) i give full permission to everyone on this site to rip me apart too ahahahah

that being said i like the locations for these shots

  36. alexandra says:

She is just like the model in H & M. Not beautiful but unique looks. Damn if you do, damn if you don’t. We complaint about unobtainable photoshop, surgery looks, and we complaint if someone is not beautiful.

  37. LittleDeadGirl says:

I have to say I actually like her in these photographs. I didn’t think she’d be a good model but I actually think she is a great model. If you’re just beautiful I tend to think you are forgetable but she has a great body and her face is memorable. Than again I also think alot of props has to go to the whole background crew and photographer … the clothes look amazing anyway I want the pink dress badly …

  38. Dingles says:

    No.

  39. Fire says:

I will leave her looks alone – I actually think she looks better than normal here (which SHOULD be the case since there are probably 50 people behind the scenes working on her hair, makeup, lighting, photoshopping, etc.)

And guesty, yeah, her bod IS rockin these dresses. I think overall the ads are ok. Not in love with the second picture – the black and white is not working for me. Maybe if the dress were different ? I dunno…

But I have to ask – the third ad – what’s with the wrist corsage?? Oh, that’s right, prom season is coming up….. ;o)

  40. Kiska says:

Good camera angles and lighting can transform any average woman into a goddess. I’d bypass the ads if I saw them in a mag.

  41. vic says:

Agree about closing the mouth. She looks much better with closed mouth or open smile but it’s always this lip parted serious face. Can’t pull it off.

  42. Victoria says:

ugh shes homely.. im sure she’s nice though! 😛

  43. JustBe says:

I have to go against the grain because I believe these pictures (and the dresses) are gorgeous!

  44. judyjudy says:

    That pink dress is gorgeous.

  45. april says:

shes not a very good model

  46. Susan says:

Meh. At least the photographer figured out how to tastefully downplay her ginormous jaw.

  47. Emily says:

She’s got a lot of face…and head too for that matter. Demi’s bitch box must have been ravaged by that birth, no wonder Bruce is so cool with AK going in for his sloppy seconds.

  48. Marian says:

Sorry but I think all those comments on how bad she looks are ridiculous. Are the writers of those comments goddesses themselves? Thank God the girl looks human. And yes, there are things that are not completely perfect. But who’s perfect?
It’s about time that young girls stop trying to be like rolemodels who weigh 60 pounds and are photoshopped to look unhumanly gorgious.

  49. janie says:

“It’s about time that young girls stop trying to be like rolemodels who weigh 60 pounds and are photoshopped to look unhumanly gorgious.”
like a lucky sperm who had done nothing of merit but lands a major advertising gig shows girls anything?
and btw, the photoshopped the hell out of her. she is still ugly.
and personally I don’t buy the “not conventionally pretty” gig. she is super skinny and is neither talented, inspiring nor attractive.
but i like her dress in the last pic.

  50. beth says:

about 98% of my real friends are just as unconventionally attractive as she is, and so am i – so i kind of hate knowing everyone secretly is laughing at us behind our backs because we don’t look like… rachel mcadams…

  51. beth says:

i had an ex who was nearly 200Ibs – not a Tom Brady by any standards in appearance – and when i first brought him home I had an aunt take a look at him, bend over, and whisper, ‘dont worry, you’ll find better.’
i was like, ‘WTFFFFFFFFFFFF!?!’ to myself. i wanted to marry that guy.

a few years later, i could finally see why her husband (a good man, an ex-policeman) left her for someone who was as homely-looking and as unglamourous as she was gorgeous, and glamorous (i used to wonder when i was younger) – that fugly woman was kinder, more loving, and their marriage lasted for over a happy 20 years. my vainpot of an aunt never remarried – possibly too picky, or no one wanted her because she was… for all her admirable high society talents… shallow.

  52. KLO says:

The clothes look absolutley beautiful. So she did the job well.

  53. observer says:

I’m a fan of Badgley Mischka’s clothes, but the use of Rumer as their model is turning me off. I don’t understand why of all people they would pick her. There are lots of beautiful models who would love this gig. There are also beautiful actresses who would be a more suitable choice. I hope Rumer’s contract isn’t renewed once it’s run its course. I don’t have anything against her, but she is not the right person for this job.

  54. gamblea says:

In the top image it looks like the photoshop shop added her left butt cheek, only it’s awkward cause her right leg is stiff, her left leg is relaxed. In reality the left hip would be lower. Her spine looks horrible twisted. I couldn’t look at the other pictures after such horrible photoshop work in the first.

  55. lucy2 says:

The photos are better than I expected, but I still don’t think she’s good for modeling. There’s definitely some camouflaging and funky photoshop, especially in the 2nd photo. Why bother? I do like the pink dress though.

  56. TeeTee says:

    uh, no.

  57. beth says:

i feel sorry for rumer. i hope she never reads the comments section on this blog. lts time we celebrated unconventional beauty, because that would fairly represent over 80% (?) of the world’s population of women. i think using rumer is a good idea – it doesnt hurt she’s the daughter of megastars, the publicity will always be good for the brand – but it darn sure doesnt hurt either to take the pressure off women all over the world having to conform to some impossibly high standard of perfection. your bone structure, skin and hair, and fat distribution – its all in your genes. you dont, and you shouldn’t crucify someone over it – even if they get handed a million dollar deal. if it works, it works.

  58. Ruffian9 says:

    Um..why?

  59. beth says:

plus, why doesnt anyone seem to comment on the fact she has a classic hourglass figure – did you see that butt? she has a woman’s body, and figurehugging dresses look awfully good on her. that’s a major, MAJOR plus point from a designers’s POV.

  60. jover says:

with you sigh, kai, tess – any model would die for this contract since most models barely break even and last a few short years. If she puts herself out there for a fat paycheck expect the criticism. The H and M ads feature daria werbowry and lara stone, i believe, and ginormous jaw isn’t even close to them.

  61. JuJuBee says:

Beth no one here is lauging at unconventional looks. I’m pretty sure if Rumer was in college or a different career, no one would mock her looks. No one would care, because there would be more substance to her. The ire comes from knowing that Rumer is reaping ill gotten gains. She’s not a model and she’s not an actress, yet they insist. Sorry, but she’s nothing more than a novelty.

  62. Megatrona says:

Sorry there but I won’t be celebrating some ugly person doing a job that was not suited for her
Models are supposed to be good looking, she is NOT

And another thing, I think probably more than 70% of people who read this site are better looking than her, I can’t stand that face and all the millions of hairs Photoshop and lighting can’t changer the fact that she looks like Mr potato head

  63. jayem says:

I think the location and the dresses are pretty…

For everyone who thinks we shouldn’t be commenting on her looks, the girl is MODELING! Perhaps the ONE profession where you are ONLY looks. In all seriousness, if she wasn’t Hollywood progeny, she would not have gotten any of the jobs she’s had. Go ahead and celebrate all forms of beauty in the real world. But I want my models to be gorgeous, okay?! And she is not.

  64. abbizmal says:

She looks pretty in those color photos and, like beth said, what an ass. Her bod is bangin’. As for the black and white one, that dress sucks. What is that? Looks like futon innards.

  65. crtb says:

I think Rummer would be a much happier camper if she chose to do something different than acting. Also, if she did something on her own merit. Otherwise, people will always say she got the job because of her parents.

  66. lachica says:

i won’t call her ugly. i’ll just say that her face is unfortunate.

  67. beth says:

i don’t know. not everyone is natalie portman, and i certainly see nothing wrong with taking what life hands you in a silver platter if you’ve been lucky enough to be born into it. everyone wishes they were this lucky and everyone will take what’s given to them when it drops onto their laps – if it’s something they want – megastar parents or not. modelling is a girlie fantasy and i can see why she jumped onto it.

life is certainly not going to be this kind and serendipitious, forever, for anyone – she will be no exception. also, why so mean to her? its not like she’s this stuck-up bitch rubbing our noses into her lucky streak at every opportunity. she will prob turn out that way if enough people are just mean to her for no justifiably good reason, and envy is an injustice.

give her a break (yes, irony, i know, she’s prob had more breaks than most of us, but DO give her a break). its her life, and these are her circumstances – she doesnt need being reminded she needs to be as beautiful as her mom to be as successful as a model. she’s young, she seems like a nice girl – let her live out her girlie fantasy without being ripped to shreds.

  68. poodlemom says:

Does anyone in Hollywood have real hair any more? At least Rumer’s weave isn’t as “busted” as Brittney’s!

  69. Hakura says:

@Jayna (#21)- Wow, you’re actually right. I’d never seen her in anything but still photos before (but looked the letterman interview up on youtube after you mentioned it.) She’s *really* much more attractive in video/person. I’m surprised how much better she looks there.

That said… It’s obvious that they’re keeping her hair in her face to hide the shape of her jaw, & posing her to compensate for other issues. I can’t help but think that’s going to really limit the possibilities for poses. I know this sounds sort of mean, but maybe the whole point of using someone not generally considered ‘pretty’ was intentional, to draw attention more to the clothing?

But her body looks awesome in these dresses, from what I can tell.

  70. Lisa Turtle says:

    But her face.

  71. alexandra says:

@jujubj Who made u the expert?

  72. me says:

I don’t feel like making a nasty comment this morning so I’ll look at the bright side of this: IF SHE CAN BE A MODEL, THEN WE ALL CAN! 🙂

  73. Megatrona says:

if she can be a model I can be Angelina Jolie’s twin

  74. Tiffany says:

She needs to date Stewie Griffin! Football head, indeed. Family Guy needs to do that show. Rumer and Stewie’s wedding, because I can’t wait to see the animated progeny!

  75. Westcoaster says:

The problem I have with this ad is would she have got the job if she was not the daughter of Demi and Bruce? This would apply to any child of a celebrity no matter what they look like.

  76. Rasputina says:

I like those photos, she’s got distinctive looks and I like that.
What is wrong with you people? You bitch and moan when someone uses plastic surgery, AND you moan when someone’s not and is looking ugly (unconventional).
You cannot be satisfied, can you.

  77. CB Rawks says:

“As far as Rumer as Model: eh. She’s not hideous.”

    I beg to differ.

  78. gee says:

I do not understand the hate. She is prettier than most of you, I’m sure.

  79. womanfromthenorth says:

The hair over the face helps

  80. Hakura says:

@gee (#79)- She is prettier than most of you, I’m sure.

I’d have to disagree with you on that one, even though some of the comments are pretty harsh.

I think most people’s issues are more to do with the fact that she wouldn’t have been able to get this sort of job without her parent’s influence.

She looks so much better on video. There’s just something odd about her features in still pictures.

  81. GirlyGirl says:

I think she’s finally grown into her looks (if that makes sense)

    She kind of looks interesting/exotic

    Surprisingly good I think

  82. I Choose Me says:

I’ve never thought she was ugly or even unnatractive but yeah she’s not model material. She just doesn’t look as if she knows how to bring/work it ya know. Anywho those outfits are gorgeous. Wish I had the body and the moolah to be able to wear them.

  83. Tiffany says:

C’mon, the site is called celeBITCHY for a reason.
I don’t think she should have surgery, she just shouldn’t be a model.
She’s Stewie’s gal to me. And no, don’t think she is prettier than most of us or most people. She’s prettier than Jay Leno…

  84. california angel says:

Wow I am just in awe of those dresses I wouldn’t even have taken a second glance at who is wearing them. I love the first one…

  85. Mikunda says:

Gosh, she looks stunning! So fresh, so beautiful and Mishka’s designs seem to be a great fit – he seems to design for young women her age. She looks awesome – loving the pics! Good marketing.

  86. Dana M says:

I believe that the reason why BM decided to go with Rumer was because she is not model type beautiful. She is average looking like most of us regular people who don’t opt for surgery a la Kim Kardashian. Perhaps BM is trying to appeal to the average and maybe below average consumer in the looks dept. It’s like “Hey, so you aren’t at all close to stunning like Marissa Miller or Andriana Lima… But,wait, YOU CAN BE in our dresses. Look at Rumer, she’s not a model HOT beauty either, but doesn’t she look amazing in our designs? You can too in BM”!

Poor thing. I hope she doesn’t read this blog either. I feel bad. She does have a great body. And she looks nice in the ads. Gotta check out the letterman interview asap.

  87. Hakura says:

    @Tiffany (#84)- She’s Stewie’s gal to me.

I just had a really mean thought after I read your comment. -_- (I apologize in advance xD)

“Hey, that might work out… a lot of her features are masculine enough that she might actually appeal to Stewie.”

  88. Katinedinburgh says:

Bad face, massive butt. But pretty clothes.

  89. nancysue2u says:

Tragically she looks like her grandmother.

  90. Hanh says:

amazing photographer to make her totally not look her herself at all.
