Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner welcome a baby girl (update: Arabella Rose)

Ivanka Trump, 29, and her husband Jared Kushner, 30, welcomed their first child on Saturday, a little girl. Ivanka made the announcement on Twitter and there’s no word yet on her daughter’s name. The last we heard from Ivanka she said she found the idea of labor and delivery terrifying, so she’s probably grateful it’s over now. Last month, Ivanka pledged to take just two weeks maternity leave after her baby was born and told In Touch, “I have meetings on the calendar two weeks after my due date.” Her due date was Thursday of last week and Ivanka tweeted that she was going to work that day.

Ivanka Trump and husband Jared Kushner welcomed their first child, a daughter, on Sunday in New York City.

“This morning [Jared] and I welcomed a beautiful and healthy little baby girl into the world,” Trump, 29, announced via Twitter. “We feel incredibly grateful and blessed. Thank you all for your support and well wishes!”

Herself the daughter of Donald Trump, “We have our work cut out for us to ensure that our daughter is grounded and not spoiled,” the Celebrity Apprentice judge – who admitted she was terrified of labor and delivery – says.

Congratulations to Ivanka and Jared! I hope they tweet some baby photos soon, and that Ivanka takes more time off than just a couple of weeks. It takes that long to get a decent night’s sleep after a new baby arrives.

Update: Ivanka’s dad Donald Trump called in to Fox and Friends and revealed that his granddaughter’s name is Arabella Rose. [via Gossip Cop] That’s pretty. I wonder if Ivanka told her dad that he could announce the name, though, or if she was hoping to do it herself.

Awww…very sweet, congrats on the newest apprentice!

  2. Franny says:

Ugh look how cute she is! I just think she’s so pretty.

  3. Gossip Owl says:

Is it just me or does being pregnant seem like the latest fashion statement to her? By that I mean she’s pregnant just to be pregnant not because she actually wants to be a mother. I don’t know, her comments about taking only 2 weeks off don’t sit well with me. Doesn’t she want to bond with her daughter? It makes me feel like she will be one of those celebrities who treats her child like a fasion accessory more than a child/human being. I hope I’m wrong.

  4. Quest says:

    Congrats!

  5. anait says:

    @ Gossip Owl
I hope you are wrong. Let’s try to be optimist…

  6. Leigh says:

    Oh Please.
Two weeks will be plenty of time for her… you know a nanny will be doing most of the work anyway… She’s probably already getting a full nights sleep.

  7. Kimble says:

I call “too posh to push” – scheduled for a Sunday so as not to interfere with work.

Nanny in place and back to work in two weeks …

  8. Andrea says:

Congrats! I think she is a class act. She is so well spoken on tv and you have never seen her flashing her cooter in public like some people have!

  9. Katie says:

    Congrats to the couple!

But darn them for taking that baby name!

Hey, didn’t her husband (Jared) buy his way into Harvard? People can’t do that now but his father the embazzler bought him his acceptance in the 90s

  10. Mitch Buchanan Rocks says:

    Wow Ivanka’s got great gams!

  11. Lisa Turtle says:

What!?! She “stole” my (pretend) baby-name!

Oh well, they have good taste. Arabella was also the name of JFK & Jackie’s first daughter who died in infancy.

  12. Cheyenne says:

    Congrats to the new parents!

Her jewelry line is absolutely gorgeous. I just wish I could afford a few pieces.

  13. Jana says:

I never fail to be impressed by this woman and her intellect and great role model for younger women as far as being a businesswoman and classy. How she has so much class coming from her father and drunk mother marrying young drunk gigilos I will never know. But she got the best of both of them and none of the bad.

  14. RHONYC says:

her long gams & blonde locks + his adorable dimples
= one gorgeous baby, i bet! congrats 🙂

  15. RocketMerry says:

Ivanka is so naturally gorgeous. Wow.
I like the name Arabella Rose, cute and feminine without being sugary. Congrats to the happy mom!

  16. MollyB says:

I read a while ago that now that we are totally over-saturated with baby “Isabellas” that names like “Anabella”, “Arabella” and “Mirabella” would become more popular. I think I’ve heard a few celeb variants on those names already.

  17. TG says:

She is gorgeous and so is her husband. I don’t like her comment about not taking any time off, but if I was super rich and could afford a driver, an office in my home, a nursery in my office, I can see it being done. And I no longer understand why someone would be too posh to push. I had an unscheduled c-section and it takes an entire day to recover from. You are strapped to a table like a death penalty candidate, and therefore do not get to even hold your baby. Then I spent the entire day throwing up, with alternate shakes and chills and so couldn’t even hold the baby very much. Before this I had thought of c-sections as something you sail in to get done and walk right out.

  18. Lila says:

What a gorgeous name. Thank goodness she didn’t name it something whack-a-doodle like so many other celebs!

  19. Obvious says:

@Gossip Owl, she has also stated that while she will be taking 2 weeks off only she had been setting up a nursery in her office so she can take care of her baby as well as work.

I see no problem with this, it wouldn’t be what i would do but hey, to each his/her own!

  20. Maritza says:

They are a gorgeous couple, congratulations to them.

  21. original kate says:

“It takes that long to get a decent night’s sleep after a new baby arrives.”

i sincerely doubt ivanka will be getting up in the night to quiet the baby, or change diapers, etc. that’s what nannies are for.

  22. really says:

    MANY MANY CONGRATULATIONS!

  23. mimi says:

I bet she will be gorgeous. Both parents look good…

  24. Gossip Owl says:

@Obvious That makes me feel a little better. I didn’t realize she was going to have an office nursery I hope that starts a new trend where women can have mini-nurseries at work. My respect for Ivanka is restored.

Arabella is a very pretty name. Unique but not too weird.

  25. Hanh says:

Well I’m sure in addition to the office nursery, she has an full time live in nanny, so I don’t see them having a problem getting sleep or getting work done.

I personally would take more time off only because I’d want some more bonding time with the little one. Lucky that she can have an office nursery and can afford nannies.

  26. Alix says:

Finally, a normal, very pretty baby name. Too bad mom doesn’t seems very interested in motherhood. Meetings? Get over yourself, honey, you’re not that important.

  27. Camille says:

    Nice name.

@Alix: I agree. My sentiments exactly.

  28. Jo 'Mama' Besser says:

On your feet, lay-about. Jesus only got three days off from work and that was back when Roman the Empire had two halves. Desert water ladles were in short supply but human torches weren’t. You’re not going to allow the Trump dynasty be bested by some Holy Trinity are you, slug-a-bed?

  29. MorticiansDoItDeader says:

@Rocketmerry “Ivanka is so naturally gorgeous”

I think you need to search Ivanka before plastic surgery and get back to me on the “natural” part.

@Alix and @Camille, I’m with both of you.
