I haven’t written anything about Uma Thurman since her giant fashion show at the Cannes Film Festival in May. I swear, she was two seconds away from letting Jude Law get her pregnant. Ha! Like any woman can “allow” Jude to knock her up. It just happens! He looks at you and BAM – you’re pregnant. Anyway, these are new photos of Uma at the Calvin Klein show during NYFW yesterday. I’m assuming the dress is Calvin Klein, but I don’t know about the jacket.
Now, as I’ve been mistaken many times before, I don’t know what to say about the phantom bump I’m seeing on Uma’s mid-section in these photos. In some pics, I swear she looks knocked up. In others, you can see that the dress just isn’t flattering, I think? Anyway, since I’ve made the Bump Watch mistake on Uma before, I’m not calling it this time. I don’t think she’s pregnant. I think it’s just a weird dress and the fact that Uma eats real food. And beyond the weird bunching at the waist, how ugly are the shoulders on this dress?

Last thing – Uma’s ex-husband Ethan Hawke has an interview in the new issue of Details. It’s a great piece all-around, and I might write about it later. Go here to read it for now – but there’s one part I wanted to excerpt:
DETAILS: You and Uma Thurman divorced in 2004. Were there benefits to marrying another actor?
Ethan Hawke: The upside is that they relate to all your problems. The downside is both partners can put their professional ambition at the forefront. For two people who are used to getting what they want, to being idolized by the opposite sex, you can’t expect them to naturally figure out how to be in this enlightened state and create a home. Uma and I were, like, 26 when we met. We were both, like, little stars of our world. I think we did a damn fine job of trying to love each other and raise our two kids.

That’s an interesting take on their marriage, considering it was widely rumored that HE was screwing around with various women. They were both too full of themselves to make the marriage work! I eagerly await 400+ comments about how rude and disrespectful Ethan is being to Uma.

I think he accurately portrayed how he failed their marriage.

The outfit is terrible. I LOVE Uma, though, so whenever she does something like this, I just think back to Kill Bill, and her crawling in the P*ssy Wagon. I swear, no woman has ever been as hot as Uma in the Kill Bill series. She’s so sexy to me, and I’m 100% hetero!

Jesus, Kaiser. We get it. You’re on Team Jolie. And also? His comments about Uma weren’t as idiotic as Pitt’s were. “I think we did a damn fine job of trying to love each other” is not even in the same universe as what Pitt said. Nevermind the fact that this situation is not the tabloid shitstorm that the Triangle From Hell is.
i think he has said, as had she, many times, that her star was rising bigger and faster; he was jealous/couldn’t deal, and acted out by cheating.
i think SHE has even said that partners act out differently when there is trouble in a marriage.
so if they can get over it, so can we.
all cheating is not in the same vein/category. i wish life were black and white like that,which would make things so much easier to judge— but, grown-up people here, it’s not…..
She could put a carton of cigarettes under her bra and still would look better than almost any other woman on the planet. She can wear whatever she likes and is utterly beautiful.
Uma Thurman generally dresses a little awkwardly – personally I find it pretty charming. I get the impression she’s more of a jeans-and-t-shirt kind of person. I like the dress without the coat or the shoes, that colour is beautiful on her.
The bump – I don’t think she looks pregnant at all, personally; I think she’s one of those very tall women who just has poor posture because they always end up a little stooped around the shortarses that surround them.
As to the divorce thing – well, Ethan’s always struck me as kind of a douche anyway. Not because of the cheating, just because of the pubesque beard, the novels, the relentless self-analysing…the doucheness. Never got his appeal. I totally get hers, and she gets a free pass from me forever for Kill Bill.
I don’t get why anyone is bothered, though, by comments made by anyone about their own private life (thinking of the Pitt threads here). Like it’s okay for us TOTAL STRANGERS to congregate online and psychoanalyse people we’ve never met, based on gossip that’s probably made up anyway, but for them to say two words about their own life, that’s not allowed? *headdesk*

I like the dress, not so much the jacket. I think Uma has a great figure but lately she has this bump and well, who cares she’s still great.

funny how very few people comment on Mr. Hawke’s cheating but the world blew up when Brad Pitt spoke about his marriage.
That’s the nicest comment I’ve read from Ethan.
I remember his first interview(s) basically said her career got too big and that a marriage can’t survive if the woman is more successful so he had a right to cheat and go elsewhere. (i.e. she’s too uppity)

Uma looks absolutely flawless and can do no wrong in my book. As for her ex-husband (the only thing remarkable of his career IMO) he cheated, so the best thing to do in that cases is to STFU and move on.

Uma still looks better than a lot of 40-somethings I know. She has a tummy, but everything else is in tip-top shape.

The dress makes Uma look pregnant, not a good style, nice blue color though. Ethan should stop backtracking, the marriage ended because he was a cheating scumbag.

i like uma and her outfit, not the shoes, why don’t we see more of celebs like her? classy, she went through similar situation, like, renee z, nicole k.,reese w., angelina j., actually more than half of hollywood, not a word was uttered out of these ladies mouth, now that’s class. i miss uma on the big screen.
I find Ethan attractive even though he is a great big douche. I know it and really can’t explain it.
BTW, I didn’t read above where this particular douche made a point to compare his ex-wife with his current Lovah. That is essentially what Pitt did.
The outfit itself is okay and flattering on her, but I think the shoe’s just don’t match with this outfit. Her outfit is more fall and her shoes are more summer. But I think she looks stunning overall.
Eeeewww, this is not a good look, too bad. The dress I wouldn’t choose, or the coat, but it’s mostly the shoes that I would throw out in a minute. Black will not work for this look, and the style is, well…ugly & unflattering. Overall, I would say color of dress is very nice and pops well on her, but really, get rid of this outfit and pick something else!!

There is nothing remotely physically appeal about Uma Thurman so I’m not sure why people think from a physical aspect, that is is the bee knees.
I think what makes her awesome is her great acting and a seemingly grounded personality. Looks aren’t everything. I just wish that every actress that is thin with blonde hair and blue eyes, wasn’t considered beautiful when it’s not true.
Ethan Hawke is not relevant even when he is starring in films that are. Brookyln’s Finest and Training Day….wasn’t checking for him. He was cute then. And then he wasn’t.
Ethan took equal blame – he said “we”. Uma seemed to just want to be married at a young age. She had already married Gary Oldman by 20 or 21. That creeped me out so much. Back then I thought GOs name was awfully descriptive.
The dress is either slightly too long or not meant for that kind of shoe. I like them both but not together.
STILL really beautiful. The dress AND shoes are the worst. The color is good, the cut length and styling of that dress is amatuerish and just fug. Those shoes with that horrible dress make her long lean legs look short and thick.
The shoes are ugly, and the outfit looks tacky and cheap.
Never understood what people see in this woman, as a “beauty” or an actress she’s pretty lame.
