Tom Cruise at the Madrid ‘MI4’ premiere: does he have the best plastic surgeon ever?

Tom Cruise and his CO$-endorsed Fountain of Youth have arrived in Madrid for the Spanish premiere of Mission: Impossible — Ghost Protocol. In the past week, we’ve already seen him in Dubai, Moscow, and Berlin; and surely at this point, even Paula Patton and Simon Pegg are wondering where Katie Holmes might be and why she’s not walking the red carpet to support her manic husband. Naturally, this is a very valid question; but I’m gonna cut Katie a break here and assume that, since it’s December, maybe she’s already fulfilled her quota of contractually required appearances for the year. As such, Katie’s probably lounging comfortably somewhere atop a recharging dock in preparation for whatever creepy public displays of affection that January might bring. After all, next year will be a busy one with Tom finishing up his sensitive portrayal of Jack Reacher in One Shot and also trying to get Top Gun 2 off the ground. Tom still says that sequel is gonna happen, but I think it ultimately depends on how well MI4 fares at the box office.

Can we talk about Paula’s dress though? Honestly, she’s a beautiful woman and a rising star, but this dress seems like she’s dressed up as a Kardashian for Halloween. As for Tom, well, he’s wearing his favorite faux-steel-toed lifts again. Very manly. Also, Kaiser thinks that Tom’s little leather coat makes him look like a child. I think it makes him look like he’s trying too hard to stay hip, which is par for the course.

Now for more about Tom’s miracle face. Kaiser, CB, and I were talking about how strange it is that Tom’s face looks really natural yet obviously refreshed in a cosmetic manner. Yet it’s really hard to pinpoint exactly what type of work that Tom’s had done because other aspects of his face (such as fine lines) have been strategically left “undone” to throw everyone off the scent of the surgical trail. If Tom had it his way, we’d all believe that his new face is merely the result of clean living and lots of vitamins. But we know better than that, right?

im sorry but ill always have a thing for tom cruise.

    • Anna says:

Same here. He might be crazy but he’s really attractive. God, I just wish he was taller.

      • Papa Joe says:

Stop it. Don’t you see that he is wearing that special shoes for short men. You should appreciate that.

    • deanna says:

      me too πŸ™‚

    • Shane says:

I am sure you do, but honestly if you knew him as much as I do, you would have felt the opposite. What you see is a guy completely PRing himself to everyone and trying to look likable. Trust me.

  2. Bite me says:

Damn Thomas looks like his mother

  3. GiGi says:

I seriously have never found him attractive but this new face is A-MAZ-ING.

He looks great… he looks (gulp) sexy.

His face should be a lesson to those Beverly Hills Housewives… look your age but look really good for your age. Well done Mystery Doctor!

    • carrie says:

    • Turtle Dove says:

Tom has always been attractive. I’ve never had a fan-girl crush on him, but I’ve thought he’s nice looking. He has hit some sort of fountain of youth and I want in on that little secret. he looks very fresh, refreshed, and a little more toned facially. How the hell one achieves that is beyond me.

  4. Eve says:

His upper goes in one direction while his upper gum goes in the opposite one. Odd.

P.S.: I know it has always been like that.

    • Kimbob says:

@Eve…I’ve never seen such a close-up of his teeth as this pic, but just now noticed what you said. When I 1st saw this close-up, my 1st thought was his teeth look like chiklets…you know, that chewing gum?

      • Eve says:

Yeah, I know (chicklets). Also, his right front tooth looks like it’s been re-implanted.

By the way, I forgot to type the word “lip” in my original. I meant to say “his upper lip goes in one direction while his upper gum goes in the opposite one”.

    • Azurea says:

I noticed that too…in the head-on pic it’s clear that his front teeth are off-centre. Weird!

    • Jenny says:

Does he have receeding gums or is one of his caps the wrong size? He also needs a different pair of shoes, unless these are the ones he brought with the built in lifts. His doctor sure earned his fee, which was probably astronomical.

      • Christine says:

I’m noticing the teefers too. Like one implant isn’t right, and he has gum disease – because those gums are receding on the teeth next to the front teeth. His face – it is stunning. I’ve never been attracted to him, but it is the best cosmetic upkeep ever.

      • michkabibbles says:

he’s always had kind of messed up teeth, hasn’t he? i remember he was on letterman about 10 years ago and showed off his clear braces. he’d put it off for a long time.

      • CandyKay says:

Wow, how many dentists and dental hygienists follow this site?

  5. ahoyhoy says:

There was a time when Tom tried serious ACTING instead of trying to desperately re-live his youthful action superstardom. At his age, all this action and dredging up past glory make him look pathetic and/or really hard up for money.
And at his age, the real military would not have him flying fighter jets anymore. He would be teaching new recruits; and I’ve a feeling that Tom won’t have many 18-year olds taking his screen time in TG2.

ETA: I LOVED “Minority Report”. It was a good story, and Tom played his age. I’m not a total Tom-hater, just he needs to be more realistic and look for more great scripts instead of more stunts.

    • Kimbob says:

@ahoyhoy…well said! I couldn’t agree more w/your thoughts…very succinctly put! You’ve somehow managed to verbalize what was in my mind, but I didn’t quite realize it…if you know what I mean. You’ve managed to aptly sum up his desperation in his latest films.

    • fabgrrl says:

It seems to me that, usually, action stars ARE older. Yes, it is surprising, but think about it. Bruce Willis, Sylvester Stallone, Ah-nold, all did MAJOR action movie in their 40s and 50s. It seems that being a man’s man requires being over 35.

    • rlh says:

You wrote what I have thought for years: at one point it seemed he was going to be an artist, not just a movie star. When I saw Born On The Fourth of July I thought I was witnessing the beginning of a great career and I was looking forward to seeing what he would do. I have been sorely disappointed and have not been interested in his career for a long time. For a while I was even angry (especially after he took the role of Lestat; he should have known he was wrong for the role just as he is wrong for Jack Reacher). After a while my disappointment faded to don’t give a darn. Him being in a movie is not an incentive to me to see that movie, sometimes just the opposite, as when casting him is so completely wrong. I think it is somewhat disrespectful to the fans of a character to cast a movie star who does not suit the role. I won’t be seeing One Shot because I do like the Reacher character. Role should have gone to Kevin Durand.
Anyone else tired as hell of Tom Cruise as an action star? Enough already.

  6. MellaYella says:

I don’t see the work on his face. He is no Kim Kardashian. I just don’t see it. He just looks like is aging well.

    • texasmom says:

I have to agree. I would love, love, love to criticize him, but I can’t on this one. He just seems to be aging well.

    • Anoni Mus says:

Add me to the list. I think it might be as simple as him getting that haircut that did it!

      • Shane says:

Tom Cruise, colors his gray hair, he gets mad if the color has any red tint to it. I notice in these photos, his hair color is definitely a reddish brown which means he would kick his colorist once he sees those photos. Tom’s jaw is way too off-center which is not very happy about but his dentist couldn’t do much about it.
Tom is a very nasty and arrogant man who always tries to look “cool” in public. Knowing him closely, I can attest that he is as violent as his best friend, the leader of the church of scientology (David Miscavige). We don’t see him and Katie with his kids, Connor and Bella, any more. Bella finally left Tom and moved in with her mom (Nicole Kidman) as soon as she turned 18.

  7. Nev says:

most people fight the signs of aging…why do we expect celebrities not to do the same?

    who cares?

he looks good for almost 50 yrs old.

he is a movie star…good for him.

    • fabgrrl says:

I agree. I wish their wasn’t such a stigma against cosmetic enhancements. I think that it would be much nicer to hear celebrities own up to the work they have done instead of claiming it is all diet, exercise, vitamins, clean living, meditation, good genes, happiness, whatever. Don’t get me wrong, all of those things are great. But its disingenuous when they act like that’s all there is to their great looks.

      • LeeLoo says:

I agree plus talking about it and opening up may prevent many celebrities from going to bad doctors and getting bad work done.

    • Tricia says:

That’s a classic trick to throw you off the scent of getting work done. No he has definitely done something. My aunt who is not at all following celebrity gossip immediately commented when he appeared on letterman. When they played a clip from the movie you could see the difference. Bags under the eyes -skin a little loose. He’s been tightened up or injected. And it’s pretty amazingly well done. He looks 10 years younger easily.

  8. Cathy says:

That dress that woman is wearing is awful. Tom has a squatty body in that one picture.

  9. Bambi says:

maybe he had just some fillers or a good make up artist. hes rich, of courese he lifes good an healthy, you can this on his body. he is not to much suntanned. people who are always suntanned does not look like this. he doesnt smoke, he sure goes to the beauty spas and thats it i guess.
    he looks hot!!!

  10. Listerino says:

Is he wearing pink lipstick? It’s all I can stare at. Whatever he’s had done is making him look a lot younger without taking away the age lines… I dunno it works for him. But a lot of it might have been that terrible haircut he was sporting recently.

  11. SoCalGal in FL says:

Can You Post Some Before Shots To Compare To The New? Please.

    • jenn says:

Yes, I second this. It’s hard to pinpoint if there has been work done without comparison. His teeth have obviously been worked on, and he has a tan (or makeup), but other than that, I think he’s natural.

    • Carolyn says:

MI:2 was on telly the other night. He looked amazing. I liked the longer hair. Compare him in that era to now and you can see how much he’s aged. I don’t think he’s had work done. Also don’t think he’s attractive anymore (something to do with jumping on a couch and Scientology rantings).

  12. annie says:

Those are some pretty big lifts in his shoes. He looks like he is standing on his tip toes. Giant chicklet teeth are scary! I really want to like him but can’t get past the crazy-too bad scientology ruined him

  13. Ann says:

He looks nutso no matter what.

  14. keri says:

Actually, his ‘lifts’ in his shoes aren’t any higher than his costar in the first photo. We all know he’s short, but I don’t think he’s as pumped up as we all like to joke. As for the face *shocker* he looks good…work? I dunno.

  15. spinner says:

His surgeon is a genius!! Tom looks most excellent.

  16. Kimbob says:

To me, Paula’s dress does look cheap! When I first saw the pic, I thought that dress makes her looks like a madame of a whorehouse.

  17. Happy21 says:

Haven’t been able to stand him since the whole Oprah couch debacle but must say he looks like he did 15 years ago still. Maybe he’s just had some chemical peels or something?

  18. Alexis says:

Paula’s so pretty, but so awkward!

  19. Silk Spectre says:

All I wanna know: Where is Jeremy Renner?
Dammit, I was looking forward to this premiers and now he’s nowhere to be seen πŸ™

    • The OriginalMia says:

It’s definitely disappointing. I fear he won’t be given the franchise because of Tommy’s death grip on it.

Tommy’s shoes are amazing. 3-4 inches of sole makes his foot look thick. So ridiculous.

  20. bagladey says:

That doctor does A-M-A-Z-I-N-G work. How could we ever find out who that doctor is?

  21. Jane says:

Maybe he is just blessed to age so well.

  22. blonde on the dock says:

He doesn’t appear to have had any cosmetic procedures to me. He looks good! Probably lives a clean healthy lifestyle.

  23. velourazure says:

if he hasn’t had work, he’s going to need it: his eyelids are folding over on themselves….

  24. Leigh says:

hahahaha.. I love all of this.

As entertaining as it all is. I really do think he’s just aging well… I also think Katie Holmes is likely at home with their robot child getting ready for Christmas…

    Just a guess… πŸ˜‰

  25. Em says:

I have never found Tom Cruise attractive, but he’s looking really good lately! I don’t think he’s had work done as he has a fair amount of wrinkles. I do think he’s invested in some killer facial treatments like chemicals peels or laser. Maybe a little makeup too.. The hair makes all the difference, it’s a boyish style and certainly makes him look more boyish.

  26. Love Angie. says:

    King of Hollywood.

  27. ladybert62 says:

    How old is he anyway?

I am still upset about Jack Reacher – but that is life.

I will admit that Tom does pick movies with a good story – I dont think he does a movie just to do it and stay in the public mind. Thinking back over his movies, he does have some decent ones.

I agree about the decent short haircut which greatly helps him out and makes him look younger, clean and manly (are you listening Mr. Pitt!) ha ha

  28. Micah says:

    I love Simon Pegg!

  29. Julie says:

Yes, he and Michelle Pfieffer have the best, although maybe Tom’s wins because he has had far much more work….IMO. He looks good, although I can’t stand to look at him.

  30. maggie grace says:

Perhaps some lower lid blepharoplasty and probably botox and some strategic fillers… but mostly his skin just looks very firm and doesn’t have any extra fat accumulation that most of us get in certain areas of the face. That’s natural. He’s DEF had gut lipo – he has the classic lipo stomach – oddly flat with weird looking belly button (see Kate watshername).

  31. whatthehell456 says:

He’s still batsh-t crazy any way you look at it, younger looking, older looking doesn’t matter to me…he still just looks crazy.

  32. Sapphire says:

I am going to go with some fillers around the nasolabial area and a little botox in the forehead-shiny skin. And look at his posture-dead give away on lifts.

    • gab says:

I agree about the posture, Sapphire! He’s hanging on to the other two so proud – Look everyone, I’m taller than someone!!
      He’s gross.

    • Jenn says:

He does look like he is about to fall over. He almost wore high heels in Interview with the Vampire so Pitt would not tower over him. He is a throw back to the fifties and the smaller actors like Alan Ladd who had actresses walk in troughs to make him look taller (he did that to the actress in Shane) or worked with petite actresses-Veronica Lake was tiny.

One of the many things I admire about Daniel Radcliffe is that he is short and owns it, so does Al Pacino. Simon Pegg is also small in stature and does not seem to have a problem.

  33. Madison says:

For a man pushing 50 he does look good, Paula patton’s dress is awful.

  34. Letty says:

    Chemical peel
    Face fat sucked out
    cheek implants
His cheek bones have never been that prominent, not even at his thinest

  35. Gina says:

Is Paula wearing flats or something? She’s not towering over Tom in these pics…

  36. Liv says:

Um, you can clearly see the scar behind his left jaw, leading up to his left ear. I think he had a facelift, indeed.

    • Snowangel says:

Thats the first thing I noticed, the scar. Its a good one though, very thin, not much wider than a human hair. I saw him once in Toronto, where he was filming, and he is so tiny. Really the size of a horse jockey or leprechaun. Totally turned me off him at that point, then the cult thing just finished him off competely.

      • Esmom says:

“Really the size of a horse jockey or leprechaun. ” Lol, time to wipe off the keyboard again!

  37. Joe says:

He does have the best doctor, because whatever he’s had done, you can’t tell but he still looks good.
    THAT’S the secret.

  38. Matt says:

You are talking about him like he is in his 149’s! He is only 49! Is it a crime to have a good genes and look younger at that age?! Besides I imagine that he takes care of himself the way most of us never will or be able to afford.

    • Funnylilou says:

you can keep energy and having some good genes helps you but to have a smooth skin with good elasticity and clear complexion like this you might need an extra help at that age.

I think he did more natural procedures like mesolift (micro injections of vitamins and light filler to boost the skin) thermage (it’s a quite natural lifting using a laser and it is very impressive as it regenerate the skin without any marks) radiofrequence ( ultrasounds that stimulate collagene and force the skin to improve increasingly its elastin production) , these procedures do not need injections but give impressive results if you want a natural look (keeping lines)… and these are incredibly expensive!

@Matt: at 49 you are a certain age, you are leaving quitly the “middle-age” territory to just be ageing, so of course no good genes can give you this at that age

  39. Lauren says:

this may sound dumb, but is it possible it’s the haircut? He’s been wearing that long shaggy hair and that might’ve made his face look longer/wider. The first thing I thought when I saw these pics was, He looks like he did in Top Gun! but part of that is bc he’s got the top gun haircut.

  40. TheOriginalKitten says:

I definitely think he’s had (really good, EXPERT) work done. Don’t hate me but I do kind of think he looks better now than he did 25 years ago. However, the lifts are just so embarassing. He should take a page from J. Renner and embrace ths shortness!

  41. Anoni Mus says:

I agree it is mostly the hair that is making him look younger. If you see his eyes, they are natural, with wrinkles and saggier eyelids. I think he looks fantastic for his age and I hope he doesn’t tinker with bad plastic surgery. Keep on aging gracefully Tom!

Is that Simon Pegg beside him? I didn’t even recognize him, he lost a lot of weight didn’t he?

  42. maggie grace says:

“like a jockey….” made me laugh.. I’m from Louisville KY and jockeys are TINY…the size of children.

  43. theaPie says:

I love how he is standing on tiptoe between his two costars.

And oh yes, I can see his facelift scar. Jeeze, I wish I could afford to have work done as good as his. Actually, any at all.

  44. birdie says:

To me he is not attractive at all. He does age well but thats it.

  45. Annie says:

Seems to me that there were articles about him going to some Brazilian wonder doctor with his own island for the patients a few years back. He probably went for a top up, or had the guy come up.

  46. only1shmoo says:

I wonder if he and Doug Hutchison purchase shoes from the same company. Hmmm.

  47. Lindy says:

Can I take a moment to give a little love to Simon Pegg? Who is totally hilarious (I could watch Hot Fuzz a hundred times and still crack up). And is looking pretty hot in a kind of geeky way. Imagine how much more fun it would be to go to dinner with Simon than with Tom.

  48. LeeLoo says:

Here are my 2 theories in regards to Tom:

    1) He had his face strategically botoxed in the proper areas (forehead, cheeks, chin, temples).

    2) I think this one is the more viable. I think he had a vi peel. A vi peel is a heavy duty chemical peel that leaves the patient looking very refreshed but still natural. There is very little down time but it takes 3 weeks to see the full effects. Since he still has plenty of lines that are not botoxed out I think we’re looking at a heavy chemical peel. Compared to many celebrities, that’s nothing.

He needs to learn to channel his inner shortness. Napoleon was short and look at what he accomplished without lifts.

  49. Amy says:

You didn’t put up the best pictures of Tom, which is him posing with the Duquesa de Alba. She is virtually unknown outside Spain but she is seriously the most badass old lady (better than Betty White) ever.

And I saw his interview here on El Hormiguero. I commented to my roommates about him getting work done and they both agreed with me.

  50. LibsW says:

I’ve just seen the scar too – could he be trying to cover it up with that Captain Haddock style jumper (maybe as a nod to Simon Pegg?!)?

I’d say a face lift too – I think the earlobes may give it away – either that or he’s got some old man ears thing going on. I’m not sure why but his nose also looks a little thinner too – if you see the pics from when he was promoting MI2 it looked a bit wider.

I wonder wonder when Katie buys new heels if he’s the one that breaks them in…

  51. Lady Satan says:

I’m going to vote for peel.

I’m thinking too it could be the result of better diet/weight loss. He seems to be a lot leaner now and that could account for the younger look – he seems to have lost some of that puffy look he had for a while there.

  52. Sumodo1 says:

Well, I remember the batsh*t photo released to plug Tom’s role in “Rock of Ages,” where it looked like he had a chicken cutlet in his cheek. Certainly, he changed plastic surgeons. I bet he’s never forgiven the idiot who did his tummy lipo. Can you say “Tara Reid?” I knew that you could!

  53. Adrien says:

Second photo, he looks like an action figure toy.
He’s done something, but very subtle. Possibly non-surgical. No way a white dude would age that well without intervention even with a healthy lifestyle. His jaw and neck are sagging, hence the turtle neck to hide it.

  54. Dhavy says:

He must have done something….he didn’t look this ‘refreshed’ in Knight & Day

  55. JoanCrawfordHangers says:

Oh dear Lord, CB. You MUST MUST MUST check out the photos of Twinkle Toes on the red carpet w/The Duchess of Alba. It’s a complete freak show.

  56. emma says:

I love Tom. He doesn’t look fake to me. He also seems to be one of the hardest working movie stars. I wish him lots of success.

  57. Kelly says:

He looks like a Ken doll. As in, Barbie’s boyfriend.

  58. skinanny says:

go back and take a look at Risky Business, before nose job. I think once these men fool with their eyes, they start to look like freaks. He looks natural, now all he needs is a new dentist.

  59. Nan says:

You know he might be able to shave off a few years on his face BUT if you watch that movie with Cameron Diaz (can’t recall the title) his body shows it’s age. He’s got old man belly. The elastic nature of the body is fading for him and he has this saggy areas below the naval. He still looks good but he just shows his age.

I’ve never really been into the Cruise and I’ve never particularly understood the fascination with him but hey what ever floats your boat.

  60. Tazina says:

We need a before and after picture side by side. It’s hard to tell otherwise. I think he’s had something done, probably one of the newer procedures.

His teeth appear to be off-center. The center of his teeth are off to the side compared to where his nose is. I’ve noticed this before.

  61. DesertReal says:

From yeast infection-esque leather suits to (dry-heave) purple leopard print lace- Paula Patton has no excuse for the trailer park chic she’s been rocking this promo tour. With her hourglass & all the “sex therapy” she’s hopefully getting from her hubby Robin Thicke- she should be wearing elegant 40s inspired form fitting gowns. A la Halle Barry or Dita Von Teese. Not dresses that look like they’re from Hot Topics House Couture.

  62. LittleDeadGrrl says:

I think he looked older in Knight and Day than he does now. It might be clean living but I’d be surprised if he hadn’t used any fillers or something for this movie so he still looks like an “action” star.

  63. Funnylilou says:

he clearly had something done take a look to these side by side pics:

so obvious!!! but whatever he has done he still has saggy old men eyebrows, just focus on them it is disturbing how much they don’t fit with his youthfull cheeks

  64. TXCinderella says:

He needs a better dentist. One of his front teeth is longer than the other. Other than that, he’s still a good-looking dude.

  65. Calli P says:

    Strategically used Fractional CO2 Laser.

  66. jacquie109 says:

I think he and gwen stefani eat babies and thats why they look so great without looking plasticy LOL. She must have let her surgeons name slip!!

  67. Bermuda Blues says:

He got a subtle upper face lift. You can see a little bit of pulling by his temples. Once the swelling from a facelift goes down, you look just like yourself, except you have less loose skin. The big change with Tom is that you can see his eyes again. His brows were sagging so low before they were blocking his eyes and making him look much older.

  68. Meanchick says:

I’m a fan. I love his movies and I think he’s hot. I’m REALLY short, so his height doesn’t bother me.

  69. Ka says:

He looks great! In one of the pics, he looks like Paul Newman!

  70. Nibbi says:

katie “lounging on a recharging dock” –
