Brad Pitt & George Clooney’s bromance dominates the Oscar luncheon

These are new photos of The Bromance of The Ages, Brad Pitt and George Clooney at yesterday’s Oscar luncheon in Beverly Hills. Jonah Hill was around too – because he and Brad have been bromancing hard during their respective Oscar campaigns for Moneyball. But George swooped in to claim Brad, and thus, we have these photos. Brad and George were also talking about each other during their luncheon interviews too:

George Clooney and Brad Pitt are one of Hollywood’s most famous friendship pairings, but far from the general consensus they don’t actually get to hang out that much, it seems. What a delight then it was to see the two old pals catching up at the annual Oscars’ lunch, an exercise in PR ahead of the big awards themselves for sure, but also a chance for some of the busiest actors in the world to have a long overdue catch-up.

“A lot of people at home think we all hang out together. I think they think we’re always at the Hilton drinking champagne. The truth is I hadn’t seen Brad in about a year” said Clooney to reporters including The Press Association, “So it’s fun to catch up, and it’s fun to see people I like and haven’t seen in a long time.”

Of course everyone was waiting for a bit of vintage Clooney and Pitt horseplay and the latter duly obliged talking about meeting some of his fellow contenders for the coveted Best Actor award for the first time.

“I met this guy named George,” Pitt said, pretending to struggle with the pronunciation of the name, “G-g-george, Jorge Clooney. Very nice guy. Very personable and very nice guy.”

In all seriousness though, the lunch was a great way to meet some of the new faces the established pair were up against, with Clooney saying how much he’d enjoyed meeting the likes of ‘The Artist’s’ Jean Dujardin and ‘A Better Life’s’ DEMIAN BICHIR.

It’s funny to think that Brad Pitt and George Clooney are only two years apart in age. Brad is 48 – George is 50. Brad still has a boyishness about him, and although Anistonloonies are always complaining about how “bad” Brad looks these days, can’t we all agree that he looks pretty damn good for 48? You could argue that George looks good for 50 too – although George has looked like this for the past 15 years, pretty much. Who looks better? They both look really good in these photos, but I’m liking Brad more these days. His hair looks great!

    Brad looked gorgeous!!

    • Asli says:

Yeah, he looked great. He finally got his hair and beard trimmed which was IMO what he needed. Also, he is rocking that suit.

  2. Gwen says:

You dont have to be an ‘Anistonloonies’ to see that until Brads recent shower and shave he was looking like he needed a shower and shave.

  3. Bite me says:

What bromance .. By George own admission they had not seen each other in over a year… This is a showbiz friendship

  4. JulieM says:

George always seems to look rode hard and put away wet to me. He looks much older than he is.

    • teri says:

George doesn’t look bad but he does look much older than Brad. Brad still knocks it out of the park with his fine self.

      • Elizabeth says:

Clooney let his hair go naturally grey. Pitt may be coloring his to keep that yummy blond color – look at the grey in the beard. Clooney wears the grey well.

  5. Wendy says:

Pitt never did a thing for me anyways. But long hair on a 50 year old is like looking at a surfer dude who doesn’t realize he’s no longer 25.

At least Clooney doesn’t look Botoxed to high heaven. And it looks as if Pitt has had some sort of filler put in around the cheekbone / eye arc. Very visible in the first three pix, it’s almost as if he has a half moon shaped pad just under the skin. Kind of weird looking.

    • Passingby says:

The top two pictures actually make me wonder whether he may have gotten sillicone cheek implants like Angelina…

      • Wendy says:

I have no idea what procedures they do on cheeks, but he’s had something done there that really show up in the lighting of the first few pix. Maybe that’s what he was doing at the clinic/spa place he was photographed coming out of?

    • demian bichir says:

NOW THAT’S GOSSIP!!!!POP ROCKS YOU ROCK!!!

  6. Aiobhan says:

I think he looks amazing for any age. I did not get the hype behind Brad for years but ever since Oceans 12 or whatever I have jumped on the band wagon. I am drooling over the open neck no tie look. I think GrAD are sweet.

For some reason I laughed so hard when I saw the photo with him standing behind Jonah. Kinda looks like he was starring at Jonah’s ass.

  7. demian bichir says:

THANK YOU KAISER!!!THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MENTIONING MY NAME AT THE END!!!
    I LUV U!!!

    • podzol says:

Hahahaha! Your comments are hilarious. Please keep posting, and it also gives coverage to Bichir at the same time. Killing two birds with one stone!

  8. normades says:

Jonah shouldn’t wear 3 piece suits, doesn’t suit his stocky figure.

They can bromance all they like, but I think this one’s going to Dujardin.

    • Veruca says:

Dujardin doesn’t necessarily not deserve it, but I hope OLDMAN wins just because he should’ve been nominated every time he ever showed up on screen.

He won’t though, because Hollywood sucks.

    • tracking says:

Gosh I hope so. Dujardin’s performance was so much more compelling to me. And Oldman’s. Together with the fact that I am so, so sick of these two phoney baloneys.

  9. Elizabeth says:

Awwww, that’s so sweet to send a thank you note to Kaiser. Nice to see you having some fun with this stuff!

  10. mln76 says:

I love their chemistry…as for whether or not they are ‘really’ friends does no one else have friends they see on special occasions once or twice a year that they really enjoy hanging around? Does no one have people they developed close relationships with through work but whom they don’t spend a ton of time with? According to Brad they drop eachother emails every month or so. Honestly I have close friends who I haven’t seen in years and who I may talk to once every few months. That doesn’t mean there isn’t a strong affection.

    • The Original Mia says:

I have friends I haven’t seen in years, but we keep in touch & the affection is still there.

I love their bromance & obvious affection for each other. They are like little kids when they see each other. Fun times ahead.

  11. Dawn says:

Am I the only person who doesn’t get all the love for Jonah Hill? I loved Moneyball but didn’t think he did anything special. I am a Brad Pitt fan so I hope he wins, but I think Georgie boy will get this year.

    • Esmom says:

I’m not a fan. He seems not all that bright and kind of an ass. I think he’s trying to get taken more seriously in Hollywood, hence his Moneyball role, but I’m not buying it.

Also it looks like he’s gaining his weight back. He was looking too think and unhealthy there for a while so maybe it’s for the best.

  12. Arnie says:

I’m confused. At the luncheon George again said they had not seen each other in a year until the Golden Globes. Yet the gossip mags AND Clooney (at the Golden Globes) said they were on a plane together going to and/or coming from Palm Springs (that would have been the week before Globes). I also think that at another interview during the Globes he contradicted himself and said they hadn’t seen each other for year. Makes you wonder if there’s truth to the talk there was tension on the plane since George doesn’t seem to want to acknowledge the plane ride. On another subject, I am sick of the prank talk – it’s old now – you can stop.

    • ahoyhoy says:

I took the comment to mean that BEFORE AWARDS SEASON, they hadn’t seen each other. No need for reading too much into things.
If they’re not working together, this time of year would probably be the only time they get to catch up, since they have such different lifestyles.

      • Arnie says:

No, at the Globes he specially said “tonight” was the first time he had seen Brad in a year. Then later in the evening he said something about being on a plane with them. Maybe senility is setting in a little early and his memory lapsed for a moment re: the plane ride.

      • aprayerforthewildatheart says:

        @Arnie
George, Brad, Angie, and Stacey all shared a private plane from Palm Springs to LA, where they then attended the Golden Globes. Then they flew back to Palm Springs together, as they’d all been there for The Palm Springs International Film Festival. Maybe George was commenting that that was the first night they’d actually hung out together in about a year.

  13. watchingyoubitchh says:

Brad still looks good.clooney looks like a crerpy pervert

    • Tapioca says:

      Mmmm…. creepy pervert!

GC looks like a 50-year old who’s made peace with his age and wants to look “good for 50”. BP looks like a guy desperate to hang on to his long-gone youth; he’s mutton dressed as lamb and that’s not hot to me.

So yeah, I’m a “George Loon-ey” on a purely aesthetic level, but as far as the Oscar goes – Team Neither-Of-These-Guys!

      • teri says:

Do you really believe Brad is the only one trying to hang onto his youth?

      • Tapioca says:

        @Teri:

George looks like a well preserved middle-aged man. A subtle eye-bag removal a couple of years ago doesn’t change the fact that he’s let the grey hairs, the crow’s feet and forehead wrinkles come through.

Brad is starting to look like he went to Nicole K’s botox guy!

    • Raven says:

Clooney had several years there with serious back problems requiring at least one surgery. I think that ongoing pain and limitation really aged him. Also, at his age, you never go back to your original flexibility after back surgery.

Brad has never had these problems, although I admit, that half moon thing scares me a bit. I don’t like to think of him being that vain.

  14. jean says:

“I would say that, you know, we are a little bit out of touch in Hollywood every once in a while. I think it’s probably a good thing. We’re the ones who talk about AIDS when it was just being whispered, and we talked about civil rights when it wasn’t really popular. And we, you know, we bring up subjects. This Academy, this group of people gave Hattie McDaniel an Oscar in 1939 when blacks were still sitting in the backs of theaters. I’m proud to be a part of this Academy, proud to be part of this community, and proud to be out of touch.”
    – George Clooney, Academy Awards 2006

How can ANYONE like this asshole? if he wins this year, I’m turning off my tv because I can’t sit through another one of his smug speeches.

    • NM6804 says:

Hahaha, I remember that speech because South Park made fun of it in the episode “Smug Alert”. He’s such a prick. I’m rooting for Dujardin (to think I saw him first in Brice de Nice
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YTz5wT34tLI) and Oldman (because obviously!). I’m sick of these two in my face all the time and their friendship and their personal life and blablabla…

      • demian bichir says:

        BRICE DE NICE?!!!
Don’t tell me you watched that shitty movie?
        How old are you?13?
I hate Dujard he’s not funny.

      • Wendy says:

Dujardin is funny. But you’re right, “Brice de Nice” was cringe worthy, at least to me. No clue why it’s almost a cult film in France… OSS 117 Cairo was hilarious though.

      • demian bichir says:

        He’s not funny to me.
His movies are not cult at all.
Do you think that The Hangover is cult too?LOL!

  15. Susan says:

All I can say is that these two are so pathetic with how hard they are trying for an Oscar. I wish that Brad would win so that we don’t have to go through this another season. How many TV shows and magazine covers can one man do in two months time? Go home to your family Brad and take some time off – it is not working anyway. Unfortunately brad doesn’t have a chance at winning.

    • ahoyhoy says:

His “Oscar campaign’ is actually SELLING DVDs of Moneyball. That’s the point of SO MANY interviews. If he did not have the Best Actor nomination, in fact if the movie had been completely ignored by the Academy, he would still be out there right now selling DVDs.
But Brad is the most self-effacing interviewee during awards season. The only credit he seems to want on anything is the producing credit. They mention his acting nom, he practically blushes while changing the subject back to the movie or his co-stars. He’s very Midwestern in that way.

People are so quick to criticize all these nominees, but if the critics got ’employee of the month’ at their little desk job they’d be over the moon. They’d show up for 1,000 interviews about it. Everyone likes to hear they did a good job, why be mad at a guy trying to sell his movie?

      • Wendy says:

That’s funny! NOBODY does the press rounds to sell DVDs. Trying to pass off his Oscar campaign as such is really clutching at straws.

    • pwal says:

I get the feeling that your ‘exhaustion’ and ‘so over it’ is fairly recent. It wouldn’t surprise me at all if you were partying it up when bloggers were presumptuous enough to declare that studios weren’t willing to invest in big stars, citing Brad Pitt and Moneyball as the primary example. Curious how it’s wrong for Brad to use the spotlight received from having this successful film to promote this film, along with his co-star, Jonah Hill, who got as much snarky press from his casting as Brad did when Soderbergh left Moneyball.

I don’t agree that Brad is doing press to bolster DVDs sales, although he is a producer, therefore his cut may be more than usual, but given that both of his Oscar nominated films are the only ones available on DVD, yeah, it would make sense to remind potential new audiences of that fact. And please… let’s not give him credit for not waiting until Oscar season to release both films. Yeah… let’s continue to fill summer and early fall with loud, empty tentpole treacle and pretend that the manipulation of waiting until November to January to generate Oscar buzz is the picture of integrity, because appealing to people’s short attention span is the mark of respecting your audience.

  16. Lol says:

I am not an anistonloonie but I will admit he looks good when you admit he looks good because of Botox, facials , fillers, hairdye, etc.

If any other male celeb looked as tweaked and wore as much foundation as brad Pitt we would be making fun of him.

  17. Mrs. Darcy says:

I don’t know why but I dig Brad Pitt with the long hair and cleanish shave (compared to the aforementioned goatboy look!), and I have never been remotely into him aside from the occasional, meh he’s pretty sort of thought. I agree he is too old for the surfer dude look but it does just work on him somehow. George looks like a middle aged man in comparison (which they both are, it’s just weird how much younger Pitt looks). Is it just me or has Jonah Hill put some of the weight back on? He doesn’t look as weird as he did, or maybe I’m just getting used to it.

  18. Lol says:

Exactly. For some reason this site is afraid to say anything negative about Pitt. Omg, maybe they are bradloonies.

    • Jo says:

That would explain why they havent covered the Brad gives his kids Coke to get them going in the morning.
When the mothers on Toddlers and Tiaras do it they are all over it.
Different rules for Pitt it seems.

  19. Fefa says:

I’m sorry, but I can’t stand a 48 old man with long hair, it’s too much you know… Grow up already. Team Clooney!

    • ahoyhoy says:

The ‘goat boy’ look is/was for ‘World War Z’, which was filming FOREVER. He still has most of the look, in case of re-shoots being needed.
Brad changes up his roles so much, it’s the reason his look changes. Clooney always plays more or less the same guy (in real life as well), that his look never needs to change.

      • teri says:

I was about to say the same thing. Brad changes up his look often for movie rolls. I really like his hair this way, very handsome. When his hair is all trimmed up and and short with no facial hair he looks very young.

  20. Passingby says:

To me, Brad Pitt looks more and more effeminate, and he looks either stoned or drunk on pretty much every picture of him lately…

  21. Lauren says:

I hope Gary Oldman wins. This Bromance PR campaign is so contrived & phoney.

  22. anonymous says:

Brad is so darn happy to get away from Angie and those rug rats, it ain’t funny!

  23. Sophia says:

So because Clooney has grey hair Pitt looks better than him? At least that is what I assume you are basing your conclusion on, and on this I have to disagree. Grey or no grey, Pitt has always had bad skin and in close ups it does not look better than Clooney’s. For me they both look their age, nothing special(compare them to Gavin Rossdale, that is a man who does not look his age).

Also to those claiming that Pitt is making all these appearances to sell a DVD and not to campaign, don’t kid yourself. When has he ever done a press tour to hawk a DVD? When has anybody? Why didn’t he do the rounds for The Tree of Life DVD release in November? He is not above campaigning and he wants the Oscar as much as anybody. You have to be some kind of deluded to think his recent ubiquity has to do with anything other than trying to win an Oscar.

  24. Nancy C. says:

    brad..cut your hair already.

  25. Wendy says:

Looks like Clooney and Dujardin might be in the throes of a new bromance too.
    http://www.metro.co.uk/film/889644-george-clooney-and-jean-dujardin-goof-around-at-oscars-luncheon

  26. Mitch Buchanan Rocks says:

With this hairstyle Brad looks a lot like Daryl Hall.

    • aprayerforthewildatheart says:

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! That made me LOL! I used to think Daryl Hall was so cute when I was really young!

  27. Mirror says:

George is an 11 year old stuck in a body of a 50 year old

  28. original sandy says:

same hens every day, favorite line, I’m not a jenniloonie but….insert insult here.. rather you are or not, why the need to say it?, because you are, that’s why, any way, as much as i love brad, crazy about him, he does look a little different, but, it’s not all about his looks that matters, if and when his looks disappears, he still have a body of work to be proud of, his projects, production, his family, his successful partner and her work, his charities, his talent, his respect in hollywood, his hobbies. how many actors can you say that about? pitt planned his life for the future he wanted, so he doesn’t have to rely on his looks when they are gone, very smart of him i say, he wins, even if he lose the material things, wouldn’t you say? again, it’s not what’s on the outside that counts, he has substance.

    • Wendy says:

You know, I’ll bet there are people, like myself, who didn’t particularly like Pitt before, during or after Aniston. The fuss over this man utterly baffles me, as I neither find him hot (now or in the past), nor particularly talented. I’m the same about Leo, although I think he’s a better actor, but hot? Meh…

    • Tiegan says:

I love the complete generalisation and then mass dismissal of everyone who has a different opinion.

      Don’t like Brad Pitt? Jenniloonie!

Don’t find him a total stud? Female Firster/Dlister!

Don’t think the Brange is the greatest love story every told? Bitter hater!

Comment unfavourably on Brangelinas looks/clothing choices/obvious plastic surgery? Jealous troll!

It’s all so childish and tedious.

  29. Playlist says:

Brad tries to hang onto his youth with longer hair and cosmetic surgical enhancements. George tries to hang onto his youth by dating a revolving door of women half his age. Brad’s efforts help his appearance, George’s efforts hurt his and make him look older. Brad’s personality has matured with his age, George still behaves like a frat boy. Over the years, Brad has built a full life outside of his acting, George hasn’t. I’m not a Brad fan, but between the two, I have to admire how Brad has aged, as opposed to George’s “my work is everything and I don’t have time to build a personal life with anyone else”.

They both look good here, but I hope neither one wins an Oscar. I’m rooting for Gary Oldman. He’s long overdue for his acting skills and has earned the right to own an Oscar. I saw Moneyball recently and didn’t see the fuss over Brad or Jonah’s acting. As for George, I’m sure he thought playing a husband and father was a real acting stretch for him, but that’s only because the part is so foreign to him as a person.

  30. Cody says:

George and Brad, Brad and George the media only focuses on these two. There are 3 other lead actors nominated, Demian, Gary and Jean, actually I would like to see one of them win.

  31. Camille (The original) says:

Brad all the way here. He is gorgeous and still sexy IMO. You don’t see many 48 year olds in the ‘real world’ who look as good as he does (even with a ‘little help’ ;)) *shrugs*.
I like him more now than I did in his Snatch etc era (in fact I went off him around that time and only started to find him appealing again when he hooked up with Jolie :-. She seemed to give him a new depth somehow). He seems to have much more substance as a man and human being now and I like that.

George, meh. Never got his appeal and I think his acting is over rated too.

Oh and as for who I’m hoping to win the little golden statuette? I hope it goes to Oldman.

  32. Aqua says:

Even though George and Brad may not always see or speak to each other very often,I no doubt believe that theirs is the kind of friendship where they would, when it really mattered the most, be there for one another at a moments notice,

  33. aprayerforthewildatheart says:

Look at that top pick, GC and his fake smile, he’s so obviously SEETHING with jealousy over the BP/JH bromance!! LOL!

I would never even think to compare Brad and George, that’s an observation I’ve honestly never made, that they are only two years apart in age, funny. They are both attractive in different ways. I’ve always thought that George pulls off the distinguished older gentleman look quite well.

I don’t see Brad ever settling with just one look, he seems to thrive on change, and being in a constant state of flux. Just looking at his films, Brad has often sought out characters that are trans-formative. I think this is reflective of a chameleon-like nature.

I think it’s a testament to that nature when so many people remember Brad in so many different ways, they speak of his short hair days, his long hair days, his beard days, clean-shaven, lithe body, buff body, etc, etc. He’s had innumerable, differing looks, and one or two are favorites of many, but there’s never been one true “Brad Pitt” look.

I do love their chemistry, they play off each other perfectly, it’s always entertaining when they get together. I also think it’s indicative of a true respect for one another.

    • Esmom says:

“Look at that top pick, GC and his fake smile, he’s so obviously SEETHING with jealousy over the BP/JH bromance!! LOL!”

My thoughts exactly. But without the “lol.” George seriously seems a bit in love with Brad. I used to think he (George) was hot in his ER days but now his smugness overshadows anything that seemed attractive about him to me.

    • Wendy says:

The top picture looks to me like both Clooney and Pitt and looking at someone who just came in, or was heading their way, probably someone important. Pitt is talking to Hill, but he’s looking past him.

Maybe it was the guy talking to Hill in the next shot. Anyone know who it is?

  34. Sutton says:

I just saw Brad at a restaurant in Beverly Hills. He was not looking looking good. Call it a bad day or whatever, but he had deep bags, bad skin, and if I hadn’t looked twice, I would not have recognized him. I’ve seen Clooney quite a bit recently – at various restaurants and here and there – he is aging, but I think more than that is that he always looks uncomfortable, like he’s in pain. Must be that old injury from filming Syria. He should see somebody about that – and not be dating a very flexible former wrestler young enough to be his daughter. That and all the jet skiing, etc., in Los Cabos can’t be helping. That will age him very quickly.

    • shawn says:

The only time Clooney “sees” Keibler is when they’re doing a photo op. It’s a publicity agreement.

  35. dj says:

I cannot believe all the Brad hate here. Brad and George both seem to be nice guys who work in a not so nice industry. They seem to play the H game as well as they can and still be true to themselves and causes. I cannot fault them for that. I cannot hate on them for their success. Both attractive men. As a blonde I have many, many gray hairs that no one notices because it blends in. Meh. Who cares?

  36. ema82m says:

Is it the lighting or are both of their suits super shiny?

  37. Shy says:

What happened to Jonah Hill? He gained so much weight lately. How skinny was he in autumn? I was so proud of him for doing it. But everybody in press were so freaked out by it. And here he is again. How hard was it for him to loose that weight. And all for nothing? He is returning to where he was. That’s sad.

  38. CHRISTIAN_GIRL says:

Sutton, Brad, Angie and their kids are all in Berlin.

Somebody you saw that was NOT good looking in a resturant in BH is probably true, but it would have had nothing to do with Brad. Unless you are talking about some time in the past, but you did say “I just saw”? Also, Don’t say you saw those things wrong with his face, folks here see differently from botox, fillers, and implants.

For those sick of SEEING Brad should probably wonder WHEN all this cosmetic surgery took place. He has been everywhere on a regular basis plus filming WWZ, photoshoots, tv spots, but he could have superhuman healing powers. He and Angie are superhuman at everything else according to some.

All the guys are campaigning hard with makeup, hair stylist, fashion folks and speech writers, but maybe Brad IS achieving a GREAT look while the others are not. Who knows what people see, but to try and convince people that Brad is NOT a nice looking man seems futile. Time and energy could/should be spent elsewhere.

He is STILL wearing that huge leg brace so the fake cane story could not take off. Wearing a wig could not stick either since his hair keeps growing and stlyed slightly different. So, you are left with plastic surgery. Fine, did the surgeon NOT see the wrinkles on his forehead, bags and wrinkles under his eyes to fix while he was working on him? Did Brad still have to pay when he left with the same wrinkles? Can he get his money back and go to some other Dr. with better vision and can see his whole face. Couldn’t AJ or one of the kids point the wrinkles out? The nurse did not see them either. Is there nobody in person up close able to see his face clearly, but only the people who don’t like him on the internet has the best vision. Please help him find some 20/20 vision surgeons, surely they must exist. I like this funny game of selective vision. You see what you want and I see what I want. The plastic surgeons don’t see anything.

    • Wendy says:

Well, Pitt was obviously in town two days ago when this lunch took place, so “just saw” doesn’t exactly disqualify the truth of what this person was saying. “Just saw” isn’t confined to 5 minutes ago.

As for “Cosmetic surgery”, I imagine that there is little to no downtime after having fillers injected. It’s not as if they cut your face up to do so. And oddly enough, Pitt didn’t have “fat pads” like that when he was younger and it’s not like he’s put on weight recently either. These things don’t just miraculously appear out of nowhere. He was never “apple cheeked” like he is in that one photo above.

I don’t understand how or why both Pitt and AJ are somehow expected to defy the laws of nature, rather than their fans accepting that they have themselves tweaked just like everyone else in Hollywood.

      • CHRISTIAN_GIRL says:

Actually Wendy, look at Brad pics before Angie (Troy RC as an example) and notice his cheeks. What you will find will apparently amaze you, since you never noticed them before. I see the same fat pads or apple cheeks as you call them and that was in 2004.

But again, people were not looking to disect every detail then and find flaws, so I can see how they were overlooked. The pics are online for any and all to see. His cheeks 8 years ago look like now. Or are you saying he had them done a long ago? Sounds like a new attack to me. As to fillers, they are injected where? Not in those SAME cheeks I guess. I can’t bother to look for other pics, but Troy is a good place to see his cheeks, because he has really short hair and no sideburns or facial hair. But as you wish.
