Ben Affleck has recorded a video in honor of Mother’s Day to raise awareness and funds for his charity, The Eastern Congo initiative. In his video, he enthuses about his own mother, as well as about his wife, Jennifer Garner, whom he calls an “incredible, spectacular, world class mom.” It’s a really nice message along with a great way to promote his humanitarian work. Well, that beats just another greeting card.
Instead of wishing his wife, Jennifer Garner, a happy Mother’s Day on a piece of paper, Ben Affleck took his message to his Facebook page. (And yes, there’s a shout-out to his mom, too.)
“I want to say Happy Mother’s Day to the moms in my life: my mom Chris and my amazing wife Jennifer, who is an incredible, spectacular, world-class mom,” he says in a video, which advocates for those raising children in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, another display of his ardent activism for the African country.
Being a mother is “the hardest job that there is, every single day,” Affleck, 39, adds, also giving a nod to the women he met in the Congo. (He founded the Eastern Congo Initiative nonprofit in 2010.)
And that’s more than a 9-5 job for Garner: In February, the couple welcomed a son, Samuel, who joined big sisters Seraphina, 3, and Violet, 6.

That’s really sweet! Did Ben seem a little buzzed/tipsy to anyone else? Maybe he was just so excited to deliver his message, but I would bet he had a couple of beers prior to recording this. Ben shaved off the beard he’s been sporting and he looks much, much better.
In other Mother’s Day video news, Sofia Vergara’s 20 year-old son, Manolo Gonzalez, also made her a video thanking her for raising him as a single mom. He included videos from his childhood which were super cute. Vergara has always been a bombshell in sexy, skimpy clothes. He also thanked her for throwing him awesome birthdays, complete with lots of custom cakes.
Did you guys have a good Mother’s Day with your moms and/or kids? I had the privilege of being with both my son and my mom and it was very special. I love them so much.

That one where Charlize Theron looked like she’d been forced to wish happy birthday to Kristen Stewart made me cringe.
Hmmm… I thought it was sweet. Ben’s a cutie, and I can’t imagine his wife, mom… or the women of the Congo being embarrassed.
btw, what does it have to do with Charlize’s happy birthday to KS? Ben is talking to/about people he cares a great deal about, not some actor he worked with… and it hardly seems forced.
Ok, let me clarify: I wasn’t talking about the women of the Congo. I was talking about his message to his wife in this video.
And I mentioned Snow White and the Huntsman cast’s video (their extremely contrived video wishing happy birthday to Stewart) because that’s part of a new trend: videos made by celebrities wishing other celebrities a “happy something”.
Affleck’s message to his wife can be genuine (because, as you say, it’s part of something else), but it still reminded me of those videos.

I bought my mom a piece of cheesecake from CC Factory and made tempura shrimp for dinner which she loses her mind over every time she has it. (whether I make it or not lol)
He seems not entirely on script which is ok for this.
So, he’s cheating on her again? That’s what I can’t help thinking of these guy’s who cheat on their wives regularly…that whenever they do something nice, they have an ulterior motive of guilt.
The man wishes his wife a happy Mother’s day, so of course… he must be cheating. *sigh*

It’s about respecting his wife at all times, and cheating is not respectful in any way so since I don’t think he respects his wife I can’t help but see insincerity in his message. Hopefully, it means he has become more committed to her, but who knows. At least he is also using it to promote his activism so some good may come from it.
Jordan. Great minds. I was thinking along the same lines.I always think when it comes to this couple that he screwed up and it is about to become public. He talks about privacy and whàt not and there are normally non subtle ways that they show they are fine. I wish I was more of an optimist but yeah I do not believe his is faithful.Which is a bit sad.
Of course, I’m not going to defend Ben to the death on this one… as obviously, I have no idea if he has ever cheated on his wife. We choose to believe rumors about some people and not others, I guess. I think Ben’s had some issues in the past, and he seems like a charming flirt, but I personally don’t think he cheats on her.
I know others have different opinions (those with great minds, apparently…lol), which is fair. Stating a rumor or an opinion as if they were facts though, doesn’t make them so.
What proof do you have that Ben cheated on Jennifer? Please don’t say its because you saw a picture on the movie set of “The Town” and he was talking and smiling to Blake Lively. If talking and smiling with a co=worker is cheating, then I have cheated almost every day.

Yeah, mine sucked too. Hubs has one foot out the door & he waited until 30 minutes before Wal-mart closed to go get me a card. I did get to sleep in though. And we’re supposed to go to breakfast today.

I think Ben & Jen are a happy couple who respect each other. She is a wonderful mother and woman, so I feel he got the best deal in this relationship. She’s beautiful and authentic, so I think their relationship will stand the test of time (hopefully).
Now I get the gushing and the photo ops, the things Ben has to do these days to be allowed to play poker. Looks like he went from play perfect daddy and hubby for the paparazzi to sitting at a poker table, he’s even wearing the same shirt, the wife sure has him by the balls.
