Lady Gaga is wearing fur all the time now, and PETA is really upset with her

Lady Gaga posted the header photo on her Little Monsters site a few days ago. She was also pap’d in the same ensemble in New York. First point: Lady Gaga has a puppy now?!! The puppy looks like Blake Lively’s little Penny, right? Second point: is that pink thing real fur? It looks fake to me, but that’s probably because I have literally no idea why someone would buy a real fur dyed that horrible color. For what it’s worth, PETA thinks it’s real fur, and now PETA is super-pissed at Gaga:

Lady Gaga’s outlandish outfits often cause confusion but her latest hot-pink fur coat – which she bizarrely donned during a heat-wave – has sparked outrage amongst animal rights groups, RadarOnline.com can exclusively reveal.

The Bad Romance singer once expressed her disdain for animal cruelty in the fashion industry by wearing a hilarious jacket made of up Kermit the Frog pelts. “I thought it was commentary on not wearing fur, because I hate fur and don’t wear fur,” she said.
She has obviously since changed her tune, and now the woman who once shocked fans with her infamous meat dress at the MTV Video Music Awards is being targeted by PETA in a personal letter begging her to ditch her latest fur-wearing ways.

“Many of your gay fans, I among them, have long admired what you told Ellen: ‘I hate fur, and I don’t wear fur,'” wrote Dan Mathews, Senior Vice President of PETA (People For The Ethical Treatment Of Animals), in a message sent to Gaga obtained by RadarOnline.com.

“I included a link because these recent photos of you in fox and rabbit and with a wolf carcass make it appear that you have amnesia. I’m also including this brief video hosted by Tim Gunn showing the violent cruelty that you promote when you wear fur. What happened? Are your stylists telling you that it’s fake, or are you a turncoat?” Mathews asked. “Many gays are animal advocates because we recognize that the same arrogance and indifference that some have toward animal suffering has at times been directed toward us personally because of our orientation,” he explained.

With temperatures soaring into the 90s in New York last weekend, Gaga’s thick fuchsia Giorgio Armani quilted jacket and hat combo from their Fall 2012 collection – which she accessorized with a cute, and thankfully alive, poodle – was grossly inappropriate when she shopped at the designer’s boutique in Manhattan.

“By wearing those dumb furs in a heat wave, you’re making yourself a target just like the mindless Kim Kardashian. As we plan our fall campaigns, please tell us whether what you gracefully told Ellen was heartfelt or just a pose,” he asked.

[From Radar]

Ah, I see. PETA got a designer ID on the pink jacket and they found out that IS actual fur – by Armani, no less. Gross. I can’t believe Armani is making junk that looks like that. As for PETA’s complaints and threats… sure. They have a right to be angry, especially considering Gaga’s long history of paying lip-service to PETA’s causes. But now that she’s rich and she doesn’t care about anything but ART ART ART, she’s basically telling PETA to suck it.

And if that’s not awful enough, here are some photos of Gaga in Sofia, Bulgaria yesterday, where she was preparing to play her first gig of her European tour. PUPPY. And THAT looks like real fur to me.

she is so ridiculously try-hard, anything for attention.. her dog is cute though..

    • Lily says:

She is not even fun to watch anymore.

      • babythastarsshinebrite says:

I feel the same way…finally. I have always been a fan because her early music reminds me of very good times, and I’m loyal. But her try hard ways are boring me big time. Not a hater I just don’t care anymore.

      • Angel says:

Uh, no. Faux fur is not real fur, hence the word faux.

    • Lm says:

Very true. So sick of her antics.

With all the amazing faux fur options there are no excuses for wearing real fur.

She always struck me as a cold hearted bitch though.

      • Christian says:

Isn’t faux-fur still fur though? PETA are Gaga are both awful hypocrites that need to go away forever.

      • Lm says:

        @Christian

The Hermés one has been claimed (by her fans) to be fake.

The Armani one is made from real rabbits.

    • Aylin says:

How about her cute little friend gets skinned for a jacket. That would teach her a lesson.

  2. Aud says:

    She is so ridiculous.
Anyone wearing fur in a place that doesn’t require it (weather wise), is a poseur and moron.
I can understand wearing fur if you’re living in a place where it’s a few degrees below zero outside, but the second image indicates that she is only wearing it for headlines – because she needs more headlines to sell her lame music.

  3. LadyAnne says:

    Stupid, tacky woman. Go away.

  4. brin says:

She looks like a matronly society lady. Love the dog.

  5. Rose says:

Her dog would make the sweetest little hat if you skinned him – wonder if she’d be cool with that?…though I can’t really talk cos i eat meat and am wearing leather sandals right now

    • janie says:

+1 I was going to say the same thing..how can you support the fur trade when the animals you’re wearing aren’t that different from the ones you love? I don’t understand how she can wear her fur coat, hold her adorable puppy and not see the irony.

And I eat meat too, but buy from local farms that treat their animals humanely. It’s worth the extra $$.

    • Pia says:

I don’t consider meat eaters and leather users to be hypocrites when criticizing fur. Meat is food, and leather is a byproduct. People argue that humans no longer “need” meat to survive, but we know that is never going to change. Nobody eats minks, foxes, or the type or rabbits used for fur obviously, making the fur industry purely for vanity. Those bodies are frequently buried, not even fed to zoo animals. When an animal is tortured and killed so some a-hole could wear it on their head, that is way worse than eating a steak now and then.

I’m surprised there aren’t more people on here defending their RIGHT to be entirely careless of suffering. Joke’s on them I suppose, fur is always more flattering on the animal to which it belongs, not the fat ass it died to cover.

  6. Elj says:

    Hypocrite and complete moron.

  7. Ming says:

If there wasn’t so much murder, slaughter and violence among humans, I probably would feel worse about fur coats.

    • Pia says:

So just because humans suffer too, that makes it ok? It’s people with the “that’s the least of our problems” mentality that don’t ever actually get anything accomplished. There will always be suffering, that is no excuse for ignoring a problem.

  8. Marianne says:

I really don’t care if people want to wear fur, the same if people want to wear leather. I do think it’s bit hypocritical if she made a big point about how she would never wear fur, and now she’s wearing it all the time.

    • Lulani says:

I’m not trying to justify wearing leather, but there is a difference. Animals are tortured specifically for their fur, while leather usually comes as a byproduct of the food industry. I personally don’t wear either but it’s far less of an outrage for someone to wear leather than fur, since fur entails the death of animals merely for our own vanity. Leather just seems less wasteful.

  9. phaksi says:

She shouldnt wear that pink thing cos its ugly

  10. Amelia says:

Armani made THAT piece of crap? For shame.
I’m totally against the wearing of fur, but I do find it quite difficult to get behind PETA – they really don’t go about things in the best way. So I’m content with just volunteering for the RSPCA for now until they clean up their act.

  11. Launicaangelina says:

I never comment on this try-hard hypocrite but this is stupid and desperate. Oh yes, you’re so “shocking” and such an “artist”. I figured with all the coke she’s doing, the last thing she’d want to wear is fur.

  12. Gimmeabreak says:

I guess PETA and everyone else forgot that she wore a raw meat suit a few years ago too.

  13. Kaye says:

Her face is starting to remind me of Dita von Teese.

  14. Bubbling says:

You should try really hard to make something this disgusting, it’s like the art but opposite.

  15. Cruisegirl says:

I’m not really pro-fur, but anything that pisses of PETA kinda makes me happy.

    • janice says:

      pretty stupid and ignorant comment..

    • Bullseye says:

PETA is a compassionate notion (I too am anti-fur) gone shockingly awry. I am always entertained when something gets them in a tizzie…they seem more publicity seekers than activists anymore.

  16. Diva says:

To each their own but I never saw the appeal of fur. Just looking at it makes my skin itch. It looks hot and uncomfortable.

  17. only1shmoo says:

Unless you live in Siberia, there is absolutely no need for fur coats, hats, etc., and yes, I do believe that it’s cruel. Moreover, it looks absolutely ridiculous on people (especially if, like Gaga, you’re wearing the damn thing in August!)

    • alexandria says:

I live in Bulgaria and it was 26 C yesterday…
Jesus, girl why wear a fug coat during summer season?

  18. taylorvon says:

The pale “fur” is high-pile faux from Hermes’s 2012 collection.

  19. TheOriginalKitten says:

So dumb. That fur is ugly and reprehensible and you can tell by the way she holds that little dog and decorates him with what is probably a $3,000 scarf that she has no respect for animals. That dog is just an accessory to her like that ugly-ass pink hat.
I was always kind of indifferent to her but she’s officially on my sh*t list now.

    • Dany says:

      YES, YES and YES, Kitten!
Digusting, mindless and phoney. And another confirmation that you can’t buy class. Watch out, poor little dog.

  20. mar says:

If you have talent you can bet that people will notice without outrageous outfits and behavior. All the props and schtick are unnecessary and distracting.

  21. void says:

I have no moral objection to the human tradition of wearing fur dating back to the first sparks of human ingenuity, just an objection to how the industry goes about obtaining the fur and thus an objection to contributing to that industry much. I have a couple heirloom furs passed down to me that I do wear, but I can’t see myself going out and purchasing a real fur coat. Faux fur is just fine. I like the look of fur, I don’t need it to be an actual dead animal. I have 11 pets, animals are my heart, but I make a distinction between humane methods of obtaining meat and fur [although I disagree entirely with the idea of animals being farmed for their fur alone, for the purpose of superfluous luxury] and the current methodology.
That being said, that awesome coat [though it makes her look thick around the middle, should have been better constructed not to do that if it is meant to be tied at the waist] she wore in Bulgaria is faux fur, and I like her cheeky post reminding everyone to thank Hermes–as in “hint hint, look it up”…I don’t like the hypocrisy of speaking out against the fur industry and then later wearing that horrible Armani joke. Maybe hypocrisy is “ironic” to her right now.

  22. Mayday says:

WHY IS SHE WEARING FUR IN AUGUST.

we get it you want attention and publicity. geez.

  23. bagladey says:

Couldn`t it all be faux fur É.

  24. MST says:

I don’t like fur and I don’t eat meat (I do wear leather, though). I can’t stand that Paul Ryan guy because he is a big time hunter. If you really need the meat to survive, that’s different, but hunting for “sport” is sick.

  25. Laura says:

Lady GaGa is a loser. Her music isn’t great (she ripped off Madonna and the majority of her songs sound the same so she clearly lacks any true talent) and she looks like an idiot 99% of the time.
As for her wearing fur — well, why is anyone surprised? She wore a dress made of actual meat so this seems like the logical next step.
I love how she supports and demands equal rights for homosexuals but could care less about the rights and welfare of innocent animals, who are unable to speak up for themselves. I agree that gays should have equal rights but I feel more for the scores of innocent animals that are brutally murdered so the masses can fill their fat faces at McDonald’s – and twits like GaGa can parade around in fur.
She makes me ill and I hope her career tanks.

  26. ruby says:

If it’s true, then what a hypocrite.

Since when does she have a dog ? And it really amuses me that gaga, the try hard “unconventional” artsy fartsy “different” person gets the same type of dog that everyone has in Hollywood. So much for thinking out of the box.

  27. original kate says:

    she looks ridiculous.

  28. sup says:

can’t believe animals had to become those hideous coats too.

  29. The Truth says:

Gaga is so 2010 , on to the next

  30. Turd Fergussen says:

Eff this overrated bitch. She should be forced to watch how animals are “harvested” for the fur she wears. They’re often skinned alive. Even her little designer dog, which I’m sure she payed several hundred or thousands of dollars for, was no doubt from a breeder, while shelter pets are gassed by the thousands a day. I will never, ever buy her music or support her.

  31. Lulani says:

There is absolutely no reason, in this day and age, for anyone to wear fur – and no, Gaga, just because you can afford lavish things doesn’t mean you are better than anyone else. She is the epitome of self indulgent famewhore, and she looks like a lunatic wearing a coat that heavy in the middle of August. Disgusting.

  32. TheOneAndOnlyOnly says:

Agree with everyone spot on laura and ruby; but she’s still treated in the pop media like she’s some sort of whacky avant-garde mozart; She does show that marketing, marketing, marketing and money are what it’s about, all this external puffery is done to conceal what little talent and substance lady xerox really possesses.

  33. alison8701 says:

In general, I don’t care for any celebrity that proselytizes about human rights issues then spends extreme amounts of money on useless crap… basically i’m not entirely surprised GaGa isn’t practicing what she preaches.

  34. Ruth says:

wears fur, carries fur. Both are disposable accessories. (What else would one expect?)

  35. Nev says:

Anna Wintour should’ve put Joan Smalls on the cover.

  36. Alexis says:

    Dogs love anybody, don’t they.

  37. Moore says:

Even when PETA is in the right they are such assholes that I hope the lose.

  38. Hakura says:

She’s wearing more fur in that picture than her dog (who should watch his cute little furry butt when around Gaga..She may need a hat at some point.)

I’ve been fortunate to find a woman online who only sells cruelty-free real fur… Apparently she has a deal with a few national parks, where she pays a price to receive whatever animals they find dead, whether it be a car or a hunter caught poaching. (The furs of foxes, wolves, coyote, & sometimes bobcat or lynx). She has an interest in taxidermy, so she’s able to work on these without guilt. Those taken from hunters would otherwise be thrown away.

So she sells the pieces she works on, like fox tails, wolf fur, coyote tails, ect.

I would withhold judgement if it wasn’t made by Armani.

  39. Nev says:

PARIS VOGUE 2012 SEPT is the shizzzz!!!!

    werk.

  40. Me Too says:

She tries way too hard to be noticed. It’s worked til now for her. She could learn something from Adele. She just sings. Doesn’t need gimmicks. Just a damn good voice. I guess if you don’t have that, you have to shock people into following you.

  41. mooshi says:

Is anyone sure this is real fur and not fake?

It looks like faux fur to me. Am I wrong?

  42. erika says:

    what…?

first, hanging with the HoLo and NOW real FUR?

…never thought i’d say it but F*** you Gaga.

You’re a coward and a COW for stalking and torturing a live ANIMAL with a HEART and a SOUL only to die it hot pink.

    Stupid, selfish, greedy cow-bitch.

    • Hakura says:

I’m laughing, but not out of disagreement with anything you said. It was just worded so passionately, it’s totally a well-worded bitch-slap at Gaga.

Although, the mental image of a COW stalking anything is rather amusing. (I was trying to imagine what a Gaga COW would look like…Hot pink spots? High heeled hooves? Ugly hats with horns protruding from them?)

  43. erika says:

p.s. it is real fur…the hairs are practically invisible

    p.s.s – fur in august….stupid cow.

oh…and since you’re a stupid ‘cow’ lets say we take YOU COW GAGA, strip your skin off alive, leather it, dye it, stitch it into a piece of $$$ CRAP and sell it to the mindless, fame-sucking minions????

  44. Tara says:

Gaga looks like THE insecure, self-obsessed, pretentious, pseudo-intellectual friend almost everyone is glad to leave behind. F*ck you fur hag.

  45. Jill says:

fur? Really? I hate fur after the documentary I saw on how they make those hideous things. She can wear it if she wants to and I hope she chokes on that mf fur!! And who is wearing fur in the summertime anyway!! I bet she smells like pigs feat under those pelts.

  46. serena says:

God I can’t even look at these frigging coats! Gross, so overly gross!

  47. Jen says:

Wow, it doesn’t take an “animal activist” to know what goes on in the world of fur farms is wrong. The fact that she’s being a hypocrite and then joking about it on twitter makes it clear what she’s turned into. I wasn’t a big fan of her music but I respected the fact that she stood up for gay rights etc….but now I think she did all that for attention. Disgusting.
