Former RHONY castmember turned entrepreneur and talk show hostess, Bethenny Frankel, is in a drawn-out custody battle with her ex, Jason Hoppy. Neither party is budging, they’re both still living in the same New York city apartment they shared during their marriage, and they’re both angling for full custody of their three year-old daughter. Depending on which reports you believe, Bethenny wants full custody and Jason is just responding or vice-versa.
These two are also feuding over their daughter’s exposure to the media. Bethenny has accused Jason, via “unnamed sources,” of calling the paparazzi when he’s out with his daughter. (Which is ripe because there are a ton of photos of her out with their daughter as well.) However she’s dead-set on featuring her daughter in some capacity on her talk show, while Jason is dead set against it.
The contentious divorce and custody proceedings have “taken an even nastier turn after Jason told Bethenny, via their respective lawyers, that he absolutely doesn’t want their daughter, Bryn, to appear on her talk show,” the source said. “He doesn’t want Bethenny to have Bryn in the audience, or do pre-taped segments for the show. He just doesn’t feel that their daughter should be on display on Bethenny’s talk show.”
Bethenny’s reaction was immediate and strong.
Frankel went “ballistic when she was told Jason didn’t want Bryn to appear on the talk show. Jason and Bryn were both featured in the audience of a test run of the show last summer,” the source told Radar. “Bethenny isn’t planning on interviewing the little girl, she is 3 years old!
“But if she is doing a segment about kids’ birthday parties, or cooking, she would like the option of having Bryn being a part of it. Bethenny would never exploit their child, it’s just not who she is as a mother. Her entire world is devoted to Bryn, and she comes first.”
Added the source: the judge will likely “have to intervene on this issue.. It’s just so very sad to see both Jason and Bethenny, who both loved each other so much, who were once so very much in love, to be in this predicament now.”
The former Real Housewives of New York City star, and Hoppy faced off in court on Thursday morning after the pharmaceutical sales exec accused his former wife of not allowing him to see Bryn.
The more we hear about Bethenny’s divorce, the more clear it becomes that she’s unable to amicably co-parent with her ex. She’s the one with the money, she easily could have moved out and rented another apartment, but she’s stubbornly staying put. She could concede this one point and agree that their daughter shouldn’t be exposed in the media, the little girl could become a target after all, but she refuses to acknowledge that her ex has a say in how their daughter is raised. Even if she still disagrees, she could give in and say “ok, I’ll give you this one, we’ll use other little kids on the pre-taped segments.” No, she wants her way on every single issue and she’s so convinced she’s right that she tells the press all about it too.

such a cute little girl. I don’t see why she has to have her kid involved in her show. She sounds like the type of woman who’s so bitter that she goes crazy in the divorce process just for revenge.

Jason has his daughter’s best interest at heart while Bethenny has her career as her priority. The judge in their divorce proceeding needs to watch their reality show and he/she would clearly see Jason should have full custody. She is nuts.

Bethany needs to keep the kid of the show it isn’t good for the little girl it isn’t like is being given a choice. But I think Bethany wants to push for the single mother sympathy vote. He has always devoted to the little girl and judges hate it when the mothers pull these kinds of stunts. We see Bethany with her daughter way more then him which is why he probably feels the need to tip off the press sometimes or we will have Bethany claiming he doesn’t have anything to do with his daughter. This is going to get even nastier.

I think she set a nasty tone by coming out of the gate demanding full custody when it’s clear that Jason is a good dad.
Does she still have a show? Ugh I liked her for a bit when she was on the Housewives show (her and Kelly Bennsimone, yikes! ) whatever happened to Kelly? She needs to keep the baby off the show and share her with Hoppy.

I don’t think its weird. I think Hoppy is a very traditional sincere guy who took his vows seriously and will not remove the ring until the divorce is finalized and he is no longer married. It makes total sense if you’ve every watched their show. She’s awful. Damaged goods. sits around in therapy for years with the same therapist who hasn’t gotten through to her in any capacity-she just loves going there to hear herself talk about herself in a totally narcissistic navel gazing session without working on herself in any real way.
I don’t know about her at all, but this article is a bit biased, don’t you think? It’s all how awful she is and how she’s not compromising.

If you caught any episodes of Martha Stewart Apprentice, you would know how horrible she is. She and that psycho Jim pretty much tortured people on their team. I’m just surprised she went on to reality tv success. She is a #1 -itch.
Both of these people are disgusting. Bethenny should have either adopted or gone to a sperm bank because she fully intended on being a single parent from the beginning. I can’t stand people who think it’s better to be married when a baby’s born and then divorce less than 2 years later rather than just raise the kid as never-married parents. Jason was dumb enough to marry her and now he’s paying the price. She’s a fake, money-obsessed famewhore who is ugly as homemade sin and he ignored her true colors for reasons unknown to me. They’re both focused on screwing the other one over instead of their daughter’s happiness and mental health.
You’re ridiculous on your issue with Bethenny here. Jason had NO problems with Brynn being on the tv show he was in, so who’s really being the stubborn jerk there? Also, why should B give up the apartment she bought and built and had all these hands in? As you said, it’s HER money. I really liked Jason, for her especially, but it seems like there’s something to her comments on season 2 of their show about always spinning it to her being the bad guy
Jason was probably only on her show because he wanted to see her succeed so he did what she wanted. She doesn’t want him in her life anymore so why should he allow their daughter to be on the show? And they bought the apartment together and they were still married when they rehabbed it. You have totally bought into Bethenny’s way of thinking but believe it or not, it’s NOT all about Bethenny and what Bethenny wants.
I agree that she doesn’t necessarily have to leave their apt but disagree with the remainder of your statement.
First, there’s a big difference between a one year or two year old appearing on a show as opposed to an older child. Further, people can legitimately change their minds on subjects. And, as someone above mentioned, perhaps Jason had misgivings about their daughter being on tv but acquiesced to keep the peace.

Ashley, I agree w you 100%. Hoppy KNEW what he was getting into when he married a reality TV “star”. I also think that it is ridiculous that people expect her to move out of her apartment, WHY would she? I wouldn’t.
I think that they BOTH suck. Hoppy had absolutely no problems featuring his kid on TV when he was along for the ride but now that he’s not it’s an invasion of privacy. How convenient for him. Yeah, not buying it.
I feel sorry for the kid. Bethenny is a fame-monster and Hoppy is an opportunist. Only the little girl is blameless.

Bethenny is notoriously frugal. She probably didn’t feel that she should have to rent another apartment because she paid millions of dollars of her own money for that huge apartment. She probably feels like it’s hers only, and I can kind of understand why…
However, not sure if that was the best situation for little Bryn to be in. She is a precious little doll and the pics of her & Jason melt my heart!!

No good parent would put a child under 10 on their reality or talk show. Young kids are to young to know the consequences or deal with the gossip/bullying they will receive from being on the show. This includes all the Housewives, Kardahsians, etc. They do it to keep ratings up and for fame. Sick!

Okay so weird source material, but I seem to remember reading the Nanny Diaries a number of years ago, and there was this whole section on how these crazily wealthy people would be getting a divorce but still be living together because, according to NY divorce laws, the person who moves out can be seen to be abandoning the property, and therefore the other person will be awarded the property. There was a big thing in the book about how they had a playdate at an apartment like this and there was literally a piece of tape running down the whole house. If you have property worth a lot of money that you’re not willing to give up in the divorce, I can see how this might happen.

I have read that book and the sequel and I have watched that movie….I enjoyed all of them. ScarJo is adorable in that role and Chris Evans…swoon. Her husband in that book is my dream man. So freaking sweet. yes, I recall reading that in the book about the tape. But I honestly thought property abandonment was used in several states not just NY.
Anybody (ELLEN???) who lets Bethenny have a TV show will eventually have to deal with this monster/woman crashing and burning on the air. Frankel’s her own worst enemy, and lookie-lous will tune in to watch and wait for the trainwreck.
I LOVE it that the kid looks just like Jason’s mom. I loved Bethenny back in the Real Housewives days and enjoyed her spin off but the way she treated the in laws was so abrasive it made me cringe everytime. Too much Bethenny burned her image, IMO, and all these stories just show us how much of a damaged control freak she can be.
Still… it’s just hilarious to me how Bryn looks so much like grandma (and they are both beautiful).
