Gwen Stefani, out & about in NYC: does she still look Botoxed or has it settled?

wenn21676069

Here are some assorted photos of Gwen Stefani in NYC yesterday. She was photographed out and about, and then at the Refinery 29 Country Club Launch. The outfits are cute (if you like Gwen’s style). As for the work Gwen may or may not have gotten done recently… I still don’t know. I thought she looked good at the VMAs until she tried to speak, and then you could really see the “frozen” in her face. Then at the Emmys, it seemed like she was trying to look like… Gwyneth Paltrow, maybe? But in robot form. Some say Gwen’s Botox (or whatever) looks like it’s “settled” since those two events, but I’m not so sure. Radar’s on-call plastic surgeon thinks it’s more than just Botox too:

Gwen Stefani arrived at the 2014 Primetime Emmy Awards looking pretty different from her pop diva days, and a top plastic surgeon tells RadarOnline.com exclusively that she appears to have gone under the knife! Dr. Anthony Youn says that the “Hollaback Girl” appears to have had a nose job, eyelid lift, Botox injections and skin resurfacing!

“Her eyes look more open, and may be the result of a conservative, well-performed upper eyelid lift, which is called Blepharoplasty,” Youn tells Radar. “Her forehead is also exceedingly smooth for a woman her age, possibly due to injections of Botox.”

How could Stefani, 44, still have the youthful skin of a 20-year-old?

“I also suspect that her perfect skin could be the result of some well-performed chemical peels, such as the ZO Controlled Depth Peel,” Dr. Youn claims.

As if that wasn’t enough, Dr. Youn says, “It also appears that her nose has been thinned at one time.”

[From Radar]

Dr. Youn has not treated Gwen, obviously, so that’s just his opinion. Personally, I don’t think it’s a question of IF Gwen had work but what kind of work it is and whether it will ever “settle”. I think there’s a lot of ‘Tox and fillers at work… and? Maybe a nose job at some point, but I’m not sure if that’s recent. Do these celebrities look at photos of Nicole Kidman and think, “Yes, that’s totally preferable to aging naturally?” I’ll say it again – there’s a happy medium. I wouldn’t fault Gwen (or any celebrity) from experimenting with Botox or some fillers or whatever, but don’t go overboard to the point where you can’t move your face at all.

Botox alone will not give you that look or completely change your face. I use to love Gwen back in the 90’s, it’s a shame she looks unrecognizable now. I think she has had fillers and her lips plumped, unless she just uses a heavy hand on the lip liner.

  2. Allie says:

This drives me nuts. She looked so well for her age, why do this to yourself? It’s not like we arent aware that you got this done, you’re not fooling anyone.

    • Gia says:

I swear, and this goes for everyone…celebrities and us peons alike, the less you try, the better you look.

    • Lady Macbeth says:

You know, it drives me nuts too. She seemed one of the few ‘natural’ celebs out there.

      Disappointed.

    • RocketMerry says:

      Agreed. Disappointing.
And now, for my lovely rant of the day: I do think botox is a terrible, terrible idea, ALWAYS. How can it be a good idea to freeze off facial muscles???!!! The whole concept appals me. Not only it looks terrible, but studies suggest that your human interactions also suffer from it: you literally cannot bring people to empathize with you. Who in their right mind would prefer that to a naturally and inevitably occurring ageing process?! Ok, end of rant.

Side note, I don’t think skin resurfacing or peels fall in the plastic surgery category, right? Aren’t those more like dermatological procedures? I approve of those.

in trying to look younger, she lost whatever softness was in her face which makes her look older

  3. Denise says:

She’s on the border of going overboard. She has an amazing face and image, and she will endure a bit of aging very well, if she’ll let herself. Probably not, though.

  4. Stadun says:

That’s creepy!! Even a four year olds face looks like it would move if she threw a fit. Gwen’s face doesn’t look like it can. And to be her age and have a forehead that smooth… Why? Why would you WANT to?

    • TWINK says:

Why wouldn’t you want to keep a smooth forehead forever though?

    • Denise says:

That’s what’s so flawed about these ‘anti-aging’ procedures, youthful skin has elasticity and of course it moves which is the opposite of what botox does. And eyebrows are not meant to look so exaggerated, I also don’t get why they go so far, it’s a dead give away, like we’re going to believe anything else. However, it can be done well if some restraint is used and it doesn’t change facial features dramatically, but these celebs get greedy with it and strive for perfection which will always backfire. I sympathize as a 43 year old and appreciate the pressures from the industry, but I also think one has to accept a few things as we age and find a balance because as is proven over and over, there is no magic fix.

She’s trying to trick us into thinking things settled by going back to her throw-back hairstyle and her signature red lips. So yeah, she looks more like her old self. But IMO, the eyes and other parts of her face still don’t quite look like her real face.

  6. Ladyray says:

Botoxed to the gods but she’s still Queen so who cares!! I love her.

    • Josefa says:

This! I will forever adore her.

And I don’t think she looks that unrecognisable, more like a photoshopped version of herself. Which is kinda creepy, yeah, but still decent.

  7. Hissyfit says:

She looks better in the second photo. The first one is botoxed and fillers to death!

  8. CharmmyKitty says:

She for sure looks frozen and excessively smooth, but I’m not seeing the changes to her features.

  9. chaine says:

her nose does look strange and different in the first photo. Maybe its just taken from a weird angle?

  10. Penelope says:

She looks fake and plastic. Used to be so pretty, too.

  11. Rabia says:

    She looks kind of mannish.

  12. bns says:

Fake and plastic like everyone else in Hollywood. I wish these beautiful women would stop being so insecure and let themselves age.

  13. Cel says:

Totally her business what she does with her face but it does make me wonder. I thought she was breast feeding and maybe she isn’t anymore but can you get Botox if you are breast feeding?

  14. Totes says:

She’s already stated that she is massively vain.

Gwen is not going to age gracefully.

  15. Dommy Dearest says:

She doesn’t look that different to me. The most I can tell is that her nose looks different. But unless you go from Kim original face (or Megan fox real face) to where they are now I don’t have the greatest eye for subtle things.

  16. TWINK says:

I think frozen face is preferable over wrinkles, at least for me. The problem with Nicole was that nasty lip implant that looked like it would burst anytime at some point. When you’re really beautiful, ageing must be very hard, I’m 23 so I haven’t gone through that but not a single day goes by without a person at least (barista, stranger on the street, friend) telling me how beautiful I am, etc. so it’s gonna be hard when that stops, so for me frozen > wrinkles, maybe I’ll feel different in the future.

  17. Sam says:

I notice a big difference. She has definitely had some Botox and fillers (Botox can take up to 10 days to kick in, while results are instant with fillers); she’s had her eyes done and probably a brow lift, too; chemical peels and lasers can help to smooth the skin; and the nose looks slightly different. I also wonder if she’s had a facelift, but when would she have had time to heal? She did seem to disappear right after Apollo’s birth, but I can’t imagine anyone having plastic surgery right after giving birth. Also, the past few months she’s been on the gossip blogs, especially DM, almost daily. Maybe all those acupuncture visits were actually visits to someone else…?

Still think she looks good and her skin amazes me. She was a swimmer in high school and if you look at some of the early No Doubt videos, she definitely had the So. CA beach girl look going on and was almost always sporting a tan. Considering the amount of sun damage she could have, her skin looks flawless.

  18. Eleonor says:

Botox or whatever she has done she looks good, well frozen good, BUT she does not look like herself anymore, I recognize her eyes but not her face.

  19. kri says:

Def something weird. she looks like a pretty version of Tori Spelling. Hopefully, that crap settles and she can get back to being her natural gorgeous self.

  20. Darlene says:

I think it’s her teeth. I think she got new veneers. They give her mouth a horse-ish look. 🙁

  21. Mitch Buchanan Rocks! says:

She looks like the Late Joan Rivers.

  22. roxy750 says:

Its makeup. She is and always has been completely gorgeous!

  23. Lucy says:

Am I the only one who thinks she looks the same as she always has…? (and in a good way)

  24. Britt says:

I love botox. I use it a little bit between my brows to get rid of the 11 lines. Botox is awesome if you don’t overdo it. Btw,,, I think Gwen looks good.

  25. Betsy Paige says:

I don’t know – I think she looks pretty good and so much more natural than many celebrities out there.. look at Megan Fox – she IS young but her face looks straight from Madame Tussaud’s wax museum.
