Angelina Jolie ‘was not eating much’ during the ‘Unbroken’ filming, says Miyavi

FFN_Jolie_Angelina_NYC_120514_51600476

Here are some photos of Angelina Jolie at the Director’s Guild in NYC on Friday evening, which is where she screened Unbroken. I keep forgetting that Angelina isn’t just interested in an Oscar nomination for Best Director – she’s probably interested in a DGA nomination too. Anyway, the photo agencies are making a big deal about how much time she spent mingling with her fans. She did the same thing outside The Daily Show Thursday night – she even took a few minutes to comfort a Brangeloonie having a panic attack!

In these pics, Angelina spent time on the rope line, taking selfies with fans and posing with “Radio Man,” the famous homeless man who does appearances in film and TV (he’s always on The Late Show, isn’t he?). You know what the selfies reminded me of? The famous “Oscar selfie” from earlier this year, where Angelina actually WAVED to the camera, because she doesn’t get the whole selfie thing. Well, she’s a quick learner, isn’t she? As for her outfit here – I’m sure she chose the coat because it’s a sack in coat-form, and she has consistently excellent taste in boots.

Meanwhile, Angelina’s Unbroken men did a Q&A with HuffPo – you can see the video here. The most interesting reveal is that Miyavi said that Angelina was “not eating much” during the production. He said: “It was surprising how much she trusted me, all of us, on the set. She was so determined. I was also surprised how skinny she got. You know, she was not eating much. I felt so bad I was the only one who got fat during filming.” Oh no, Miyavi! The first rule of Brangelunacy is that one must never discuss Angie’s weight!! But it does sound like all of the guys are pretty much in love with her.

I love this Miyavi. I agree it would be impossible not to love Angie’s face and perhaps her determination but think it is also okay for fellow actors to express concern or speak truth.

The boots ARE gorgeous but why do I feel like under that coat she looks like David Bowie in Labyrinth. Skinny pants are not the look on every body.

  2. It is what it is says:

She never does, does she? I think her breast implants contribute to her looking thinner…I love the guy with the stereo!!

  3. Maya says:

200 men (prisoners in the movie) were starving to lose weight for the movie.

I won’t be able to eat much as well if so many people under my leadership weren’t eating.

Angelina and Brad have been voted several times as one of the best celebs who gives their time to their fans. They spend hours on every premier talking, taking pictures and signing autographs – nothing new there.

I think this week is the last sets of screening and Angelina will go underground for a while.

I like the way Universal & Angelina are campaigning. They do screenings for sports people, war veterans, powerful media people and the public. It’s also good to see other fellow female directors such as Jodie Foster & Kathryn Bigelow showing their support to Angelina.

PS: as a Brangeloony I have no problems about others discussing Angelina’s weight. What I don’t like is that these people bring it up on every single thread and uses it to attack her. These people have no problem claiming Angelina is anorexic or suffering from eating disorder by just looking at pictures.

They also have no problems by saying she only has to eat and then will automatically gain weight. As someone who has been thin all my life – that’s what really bugs me. It’s not as simple to gain weight. I eat a lot and yet I cannot gain weight. That doesn’t mean I am anorexia not suffering from a form of eating disorder.

I just want people to realise that in their haste to attack and critize Angelina and her weight – they are also being insensitive towards the rest of us who is struggling with weight.

    • ursa33 says:

Yes- and it would be really thoughtless to be pigging out RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEM…go Angie, she’s the most accomplished “anorexic” for 25 years running. Clearly, the world would be a better place if more followed that regime- Oscars, a family, a career, all while being near death for decades- ha! I’ll bet she cheated and ate food with her kids at home- SO AWFUL!

      • Lorelai says:

When I’m hungry I eat because there was a time I didn’t have food when I was hungry. How dumb.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

      Good points, Maya.

    • The Original G says:

I don’t think that 200 people starved to be extras in this movie. That doesn’t make any sense. The main characters, OK. I believe that for their performances.

      • lower-case deb says:

i think Maya was referring to Angelina’s DuJour interview:

“She said: “All the boys had to starve – even the extras – and we‘d have days when there were 200 young men just standing in the heat. The mother in me wanted to stop and put everyone under a tent and give them water and just call it a day. The other side of me had to do my job and push it forward.””

        http://dujour.com/news/angelina-jolie-jack-oconnell-unbroken-interview-pictures/

      • The Original G says:

Ok. Thanks for that link. But let’s not conflate missing lunch on a movie set with starving, please?

I’m a fan, but this is a movie. Let’s keep things in perspective.

      • FLORC says:

        Original G
It was very hot. When you’re exposed to that climate and not able to properly feed or hydrate yourself your body does begin to starve. A few days in a row and you will look very different.

When keeping it in perspective I think the term starve holds. Here i’m wondering if “starve” isn’t more of a straight link to those who can mabe eat only once per day.

For perspective here keep in the sun, rate of dehydration, looong hours both filming and on set waiting to film. That’s not eating or drinking to look the part.

    • BNA FAN says:

I remember years ago Angie’s brother said that Angie sometimes forget to eat when she is very busy working on a project. Does anyone of the fans remember this? I’m sure she was under a lot of stress when directing Unbroken and then Brad was away working on Fury, so I can imagine how much stress she was under during that time.

      • Very possible. I don’t think she’s anorexic, but I do think that she has problems gaining weight, and on top of all of that is stressed out (has been for a few years with her double mastectomy and then venturing into directing) with her work, as well as trying to balance family life. My mom doesn’t do 1/4th of the things that she does, yet she had to consciously start forcing herself to eat at all meals because she was so busy with work, school, and family life that she often only ate dinner (because she cooks it). It’s easy to forget to eat, imo. I do it all the time–I get caught up in doing something, don’t want to stop, don’t want to take the time to heat up food, so I sometimes just don’t. However, I’m not exactly skinny, so no one’s going to call me anorexic any time soon.

      • Anony says:

I really like Angie but I definitely think she has disordered eating. She even has that tattoo “what nourishes me, destroys me” a classic quote used by anorexics a lot.

Maya, May I ask how old you are? I too have always been skinny but being able to eat what I want without gaining weight died when I hit my 30’s as it does eventually for all women at some point (everyone’s metabolism slows with age…what age depends on genetics).

There’s no way Angie is eating whatever she wants and just not gaining. Like I said, I like her, but I think it’s valid to say she likely under eats.

      • FLORC says:

        Anony
1st. That tattoo is long gone. It was covered up ages ago. Also, it was in reference to her self harm habits that weren’t food related. You’ve taken the word “nourishes” and used it literally when Jolie has said it was not mean that way.

And it’s news to me that quote was popular with those with ed’s. It’s by far more relatable to those with drug addictions. Although Jolie’s tattoo and pictures being used as thinspiration might have made it popular. Not her tattooing it on because it was popular. You see?

Also, all photos of Jolie from various ages shows she hasn’t easily gained on her limbs ever. Even at what many think was her healthiest weight in Tomb Raider her arms were still very thin and had veins. She just gains midsection. It happens.

My career is in health and medicine. And i’m saying Jolie appears healthy. This is her frame. It doesn’t mean because she appears to not gain like the majority of others she’s under eating. If it wasn’t for all of her early modeling shots, young acting videos, and current state I might agree. Here we have a well established look. She has always struggled to gain weight on her limbs. Not her midsection.

      • Janet says:

I used to do that a lot. I would be in the office working on a totally absorbing project and around 4 pm I’d realize I forgot to eat lunch. And I didn’t even feel hungry.

    • Alma says:

Maya, the difference to you and angie is that you do eat, she doesnt. Like i wrote in my last post, a few years ago i read an interview in a bosnian magazine from a man who worked with angie on her first movie as a director in bosnia. He said she ate like a bird. She had coffee and some strawberrys for breakfast and she diddnt eat much more during the day and he spend many days with her working on the movie. So she dont eat much, its not like she eats and eats and doesnt gain weight. But thats her business, if she likes to look like this, its her body. Until i was 30 years, i also could eat and eat and never gained much weight i was aleays thin. That changed when i got over 30! Today i have to take care of what i eat or i gain weight. But every body is different.

      • norah says:

as you so nicely pointed out i think that since this is angelina and her body it is upto her to eat or not to eat. It certainly hasnt stopped her from going on with her life – from directing movies or acting in them dont you think?

  4. scout says:

Must be very stressful to take up a huge project like this and be responsible to bring Mr.Zamparini’s story to life on screen, I would be starving/forget to eat on time too! Her coat and Boots are fabulous!

Guy with Radio is Radioman! They have made a documentary film about him.

    Santa looks so happy!

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Lol, he does, but her eyes look like she sending a single to an assistant such as “help me” or “wtf is wrong with you, get this guy outta here!”

    • Adrien says:

      That’s George R.R. Martin.

      • Bob Loblaw says:

Who needs to be writing not friggin’ hobnobbing all over town, WTH, look at him, he’s not healthy, he’s going to die without finishing. Damn it.

  6. lower-case deb says:

oh no, Miyavi, you in danger boi!
    quick, grab some Stolie!

i like how everyone’s so well-dressed during the Q&A. sharp-dressed boys with high cheekbones. i’m sure there’s a part of heaven created that way. no sacks, muumuus or togas, for me, please.

    • Alma says:

The movie is finished, theres no danger anymore for him and hes from a different culture, maybe he thinks its ok to talk about that cause he dont know how much people over here discuss her weight. Everybody thinks shes too thin. Why? Because people like her and want her to look good and healthy. Who doesnt want that for someone you like? I follow her career for 20 years now and yes she was always thin but not like today.

      • norah says:

it is not only a question of people liking her or not – a lot of people also like to say non stop negative things about her and her weight etc all the time, She is a grown woman and surely she is able to decide for herself what she should weigh or not? what other actress is looked at so closely? apart from checking if she is putting weight or not. give aj a rest and leave her alone

  7. bettyrose says:

I glanced at a picture of her from Tomb Raider recently, and it was like looking at a completely different person.

    • RedWeatherTiger says:

Or Gia. She was outrageously beautiful then–as she is now–but to claim her body type is naturally skeletal seems to contradict the facts (or what appear to be facts based on evidence on film).

      • Cindy says:

This topic drives me crazy because I agree with you- she does look markedly thinner than she once did. I do love her too, but I think something’s off with her weight and I think it’s scary. Sometimes it seems the really good people in the world come upon more difficulties while the as*holes live to old age unscathed. So nobody wants to think Angelina could be ill and if you say anything your “body shaming” or placing judgement. That being said there is absolutely nothing any fan can say or do to help… so commenting (on my part) seems sort of pointless.

    • funny says:

Bet you could say that about 99% of people on earth when you look at their pictures from 15-20 years ago. Brad Pitt no longer looks likes Tristan from Legends of the Fall- crucify him! I’ll bet their six kids are happy they decided to live rather than die at peak prettiness. Hollywood seems to keep paying them millions even though they AGED- probably out of kindness and charity.

      • bettyrose says:

@ funny that’s not really the point. Yes people change with age, but Angie at one point had one of the most enviable figures imaginable, she was like a live-action anime character with her extreme curves. She’s the last person ever that i would have thought would give in to Hollywood pressure to be skeletal to adhere to some bizarre ideal of womanhood that’s based more on selling diet plans than actual concepts physical beauty. I guess I thought she was a stronger woman than that.

      • Emma - the JP Lover says:

        @Funny …

Well said. I find it the height of cattiness to constantly insist that someone is now ‘strange’ or ‘weird’ or ‘sick’ simply because they choose not to defy the Laws of Nature with cosmetic surgery and science nearly 20-years–and the death of a parent, two pregnancies, and major preventive surgery–later in life.

@Bettyrose, who wrote: “Yes people change with age, but Angie at one point had one of the most enviable figures imaginable, she was like a live-action anime character with her extreme curves. Are you absolutely sure Angie has simply ‘caved in’ to Hollywood’s demand for skinny actresses? By all accounts, from people who know or met her before she became famous (like Dustin Hoffman), she has ‘always’ been skinny. Are you absolutely positive it’s not just a metabolism thing with her? How, then, do we label women who insist on comparing Angie to how she looked in “Tomb Raider” even when they know (there is no reason for them ‘not’ to know) that the Studio had Angie gain weight for the role. She was also ‘heavier’ in “Gia” you say? Here is a picture of Angie wearing underwear in “Gia.” The major difference I see between Angie then and Angie now is her fuller, youthful face:

        http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-o7TFc2f5S1E/UGRwZZ0HZKI/AAAAAAAAOOY/Qp6NHijRqck/s1600/Gia+panties.jpg

The woman has been in over 40 films and yet women go to “Tomb Raider” and “Gia” to ‘prove’ to the rest of us that Angie was once heavier, and therefore healthier, and more beautiful than she is now. Why don’t they ever choose one of her other films?

      • bettyrose says:

@ Emma – you’re right. I have no way of knowing. But I am responding to an article where people observing her say that she wasn’t eating. Possibly she’s naturally very thin and wore padding in some of her earlier movies to look curvier, but this isn’t an article about people saying she used to wear padding. It’s an article about her not eating. So if anyone is to blame for saying she’s not as healthy as she once was, it’s the people quoted in this article.

      • Anne tommy says:

Nothing to do with her age or body shaming or her fame – the lady looks significantly underweight. I’m not convinced that someone eating healthily would be naturally so thin. It’s her own business I suppose but when stars are on the red carpet, they kinda make it our business. Never found her terribly likeable but I do admire her work in areas outside the hollywood bubble.

      • DrMrsTheMonarch says:

My guess is that after the hysterectomy, she began losing body fat. She’s still very young, but without those hormones, some women lose fat everywhere.

      • Emma - the JP Lover says:

@Anne Tommy, who wrote: “Nothing to do with her age or body shaming or her fame – the lady looks significantly underweight. I’m not convinced that someone eating healthily would be naturally so thin.”

Did you look at the linked photo in my post above? That photo is from “Gia,” which came out in 1998. Other than a fuller face, there is absolutely no difference in Angie’s body then compared to her body today. The point is that Angie has ‘always’ looked significantly underweight, has ‘always’ been skinny. Being skinny isn’t something that magically happened after she made “Tomb Raider,” like many posting here seem to believe. In fact, based upon before and after photos, her weight in “Tomb Raider” was the anomaly. She was asked to gain weight for that role.

I, for one, am not convinced that you don’t know at least ‘one’ person who eats healthy and is/remains naturally thin. I know two such people–one is my sister-in-law–who are the same size ‘0’ today that they were 40 years ago and still eat healthy, regular meals.

    • Kim1 says:

I glanced a picture of myself from high school and I look like a different person.I am fifty lbs heavier. My hair is thinner.I have lost my mother to breast cancer.I absolutely dread the holiday season because of all the loved ones I have lost.I am sure it shows in my eyes.
Angie was always thin .She has also visited over fifty refugee camps over the years. She has heard women ,men and children describe being raped ,seeing their family being murdered, etc.
I am sure hearing these horrors have an impact on her emotional, physically and psychological.
I have an aunt who is nurse in a ER .She smokes cigarettes. She knows it makes no sense but working in the ER.
As for Angie I just saw a YT video of her on TDS with Jon Stewart promoting Beyond Borders( pre Brad Pitt). She was thin them. This was before she had six kids, before she lost her mother, before she started directing…

      • Ducky la Rue says:

Kim1, I have the same feeling when I look at pictures of myself from as short a time as 5 years ago. Gained weight, got older. You are a different person – but it happens to us all so gradually, sometimes it isn’t until we look at the pictures that we realize how much we’ve changed.

And I’m so sorry to hear about your mother. That’s so hard, but it can be especially painful during the holidays. I’m sorry, I don’t know the right words to say, but I’m sending you warm thoughts, and wish you the best during the holidays (and after, of course).

    • Jessica says:

Yep. She’s always been thin with skinny limbs, but for the last 6-7 years she’s been extremely thin. She used to be a good 30lb bigger, and she maintained that weight for years and years so it’s not impossible for her to keep weight on.

Even she’s said she doesn’t eat much.

      • I Choose Me says:

Agree. She has always been thin but not this thin and I don’t think noticing her thinness should always be construed as an attack. I think like someone upthread suggested, she gets busy and forget to eat. I figure when she’s less stressed, she’ll gain back a few.

    • sarah says:

Apparently no one is allowed to talk about Angelina’s extreme weightloss but any other women can be marked “anorexic” “Hollywood byproduct” etc….

      • Esmom says:

That’s what I don’t get. If people say she’s alarmingly thin they get branded haters but when people say the same thing about Kate Bosworth, for example, who seems no thinner to me than AJ, everyone heartily agrees.

      • BNA FAN says:

Lots of people are always talking about Angie’s weight on the Internet. I noticed most of the complain from her non fans are about her weight. Their favorite cry is she should eat a sandwich, which I find very offensive. Angie’s fans know she was and is always thin. There are times she appears to lose weight, eg the death of her mother or when she had her operation two years ago. I’m sure she is under lots of stress with her health problems and getting ready to do her next surgery hopefully soon.

      • sarah says:

        @BNA FAN

As her fan it is also fair to state that she suffered from anorexia in the past. That is something most people struggle with all their life. It’s her coworker who mentioned that Angelina doesn’t eat, not sure why some people are taking it so personally as if it was a direct insult to a family member.

      • Louise177 says:

@Esmom with people like Kate Bosworth, Keira Knightley, etc you could see their breastbone, ribs, spine. When that happens to Angelina than you can say “I told you so”. Nothing about Angelina’s weight says that she’s at death door. So the fake concern of the haters is laughable. People ignore the fact that she’s always been thin. For the life of me I don’t understand why people keep bringing up Tomb Raider when it’s a known fact she gained at least 20lbs. The only time she was really thin was when she filmed “Wanted”. Besides if she did gain 20lbs she would just get called fat. When Angelina went to a premiere a few months after the birth of the twins, everybody was saying how fat she looked.

      • Dany says:

@Louise: It is hard to spot “breastbone, ribs, spine” when someone covers up in sack dresses all the time and has large implantats which make the upper body look huge with a sack on it. She wears all those horrible wide sack dresses, stoles and coats for a reason. One sighting of more than just stick thin arms and legs would bring her worldwide “her anorexia is back-headlines” and no one would talk about her movie.
It happens with Kidman and Co all the time. More talk about botox and a changing face than the movie they promote (male actors doen´t have the same problem of course). Angelina knows that and dresses deliberately.

      • Dallas says:

@Dany…. Finally a voice of reason! Thank you!

        .
Yes, she may have always been thin, but not emanciated. And that is what I see. One of the first signs of anorexia, I’m not saying she is anorexic, is thinning of the hair. Her hair has looked like hell the past few months. Very lackluster!

        .
And to those saying she isn’t eating because she is stressed about her health, then why the hell is she smoking if her HEALTH is a concern?

      • Please says:

She could have been smoking an e-cig. Big difference.

      • FLORC says:

        Dany
She has addressed and defended her attire. Black and loose fitting clothes isn’t to hide her body. If it was all those arm and leg exposures she’s constantly seen in in events wouldn’t happen. It’s something she does more as a result of her humanitarian work. She adopted it into her life.

Think. The leg of doom. Wedding dress with exposed arms. The gray drapey dress from the last film screening. And numerous other times she wore tighter fitting clothes. Why would she only cover up part time in her personal life and only part time in front of cameras? Especially if your theory is true. It really only makes sense if we forget half of her appearances.

        Dallas
Jolie not eating linked to stress over health is valid, but you’re not viewing it correctly. Stress over health. Undergoing procedures. Hoping you’ve prevented any cancer. Thinking and fearing you will leave your children without a mother like her’s did. It’s very stressful. The worry factor.

      • Dallas says:

@Please, smoke does not emit from an E cigarette. Ever!

    • FLORC says:

I just watched tomb raider since it was on tv. There isn’t much of a difference past her face just being younger. Daniel Craigs too! So young!
Her arms were still thin and when she moved them at all there were veins (scene at end with guns to robot freeze frame).
The rest had her arms covered. And her chest was padded to match Lara’s d’s. Not Jolie’s b’s. Same with posters. Heavy edits on the images.

It gets a bit irksome when everyone seems to be able to diagnose an ed while flipping through a few carefully selected photos.

  8. Sullivan says:

When I’m stressed during a big project my appetite dwindles. Fairly common.

  9. bns says:

She was super thin before this movie. She’s always been thin, but she’s been *very* thin for a few years now.

  10. Talie says:

All the guys looked nervous when he was talking about that. God bless someone who doesn’t know the language too well and is a truth-teller by default. It’s obvious she has always been a thin woman, but there was a time — around 2003-2005 — where she looked very, very healthy.

    • zut alors! says:

You mean the post Billy Bob and pre Brad era? That’s what I’ve been saying for ages! And it wasn’t Tomb raider weight gain either. It was because she was finally at a good place in her life and everything just clicked in place. That is why I find her current physical appearance concerning.

    • Cindy says:

      Agree completely.

      • sarah says:

Yeah I mean she was always very thin but I think she stays this thin by choice. There has been periods where she gained 15-20 pounds rather quickly & I don’t mean during her pregnancy. I don’t understand the level of defensiveness when it comes to her but on a Emma Stone thread it’s all “oh no look how anorexic she looks, Emma caved in to Hollywood standard.”

    • Jessica says:

She looked great during promotion for Alexander and Taking Lives. Yes she was still thin, but nowhere near as thin as she is today. She had great muscle tone in her arms and legs then, her face was much fuller and she had real curves not fake curves created by structured dresses.

    • jinni says:

Yup. She looked so good during that time. But aren’t there rumors that all the women that Brad gets with are always really skinny when they are with him, but than look healthy slim after him? Hmm…

      • Kim1 says:

Aren’t there rumors that Angie is a drug addict? Aren’t there rumors she has Hepatitis? Aren’t there rumors Brad is Gay ? Aren’t there rumors they aren’t in love but they marriage is simply a business arrangement?
        RUMORS
It is amazing that Brad is so weak that he takes on the he looks of his exes yet he forces them to be thin.SMH

      • Kate says:

Very true. Gwyneth looked painfully gaunt even for her when she was with him, Jennifer lost a good 20lbs immediately after they started dating and gained it back pretty much straight after they broke up. I can’t think of anyone he’s dated who wasn’t extremely thin or who didn’t become extremely thin after a few months with him.

      • @Kate
So Brad is responsible for Goop’s ongoing issues with food, which, by her own admission, was the result of her father being diagnosed with the cancer that ultimately killed him years later–her trying to help him fight the cancer off by changing his diet? It’s been what? 17 years since he and Goop broke up, yet she’s still doing all of those cleanses, is still trying to clear up that early onset osteoperosis diagnosis she got a few years ago, still hanging out with Tracy Anderson….

Jennifer Aniston–she was always (from what I’ve read) obsessed with her weight–her mother called her fat and unattractive. One of her earliest jobs was being a rep. for Nutrisystem. She and Courtney Cox (and maybe Lisa Kudrow) reportedly had a competition on the set of Friends to see who could lose the most weight. Ate the same salad for twenty years for lunch every single day. Was in her mid thirties when she and Brad divorced + Greek genes, meaning she stopped fighting her natural body type (which is thicker), especially now.

I’m not seeing how it’s all Brad’s fault. Especially when you add all of that to them being in Hollywood where if a woman even has a food baby, then she’s automatically pregnant. Also–when has Brad EVER mentioned anyone’s weight, when he was with them? I remember Angelina saying that she felt very sexy during pregnancy, because Brad made her feel very sexy and proud of her body. I still remember that awful PEOPLE article that came out when Mila Kunis was pregnant–all about Ashton Kutcher not ‘judging’ Mila Kunis’s pregnant body. What an asshole.

You mean that time in 2005 a DECADE ago????

Who in world looks like the same person 10 years later.
Much less someone who has given birth, travels to very difficult places all the time, constantly works, is in charge of 100’s of employees, has innumerable amount of children who she manages to parent in person.

I have so much admiration and respect for Angelina Jolie. It seems quite absurd that people even discuss about her weight. She is no longer just a movie star. Audrey Hepburn is the best analogy. And Audrey was always always thin. Wonder what you guys would say about Hepburn if she was out there campaigning for her movie. “Oh no! Look at those protruding neck bones!!”

      • RobN says:

It may have been a decade ago, but the great majority of women fight getting heavier as they age, not thinner. Slowing metabolisms, hormones, childbirth, etc. all make it a lot more likely you’ll gain weight as you age, rather than the other way around.

    • BNA FAN says:

Are you saying Angie was looking very healthy from 2003-2005, two years only? So why complain that she is too thin when in your observation she was always thin except for 2 years.

  11. notlistening says:

lolol, dude. Run for your life.

  12. twink says:

I have the same “issue” as Angie; extremely gorgeous face but can’t put on weight for the life of me, people think I starve to be thin and are always surprised of how much I eat when they hang out with me.

    • awful says:

wow, I’ve never heard someone describe themselves as having an “extremely gorgeous face.” #humblebrag #ego

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Yeah,I bet that’s not the only thing that surprises them when they hang out with her – once.

      • bns says:

LOL right? There’s nothing wrong with self confidence, but that caught me off guard and is cracking me up.

    • Dany says:

wouldn´t call it the same issue. You eat and stay thin. Angelina doesn´t eat much and emaciates

    • All body types are different. I have an aunt that has extremely skinny arms and calves–yet she has a big butt, small breasts, a big stomach, and normal sized thighs. It’s odd, when you see her, because her calves are the exact same size as her arms, yet her torso is thick. I’m just glad that I gain weight all over.

    • Anony says:

I really like Angie but I definitely think she has disordered eating. She even has that tattoo “what nourishes me, destroys me” a classic quote used by anorexics a lot.

Twink, May I ask how old you are? I too have always been skinny but being able to eat what I want without gaining weight died when I hit my 30′s as it does eventually for all women at some point (everyone’s metabolism slows with age…what age depends on genetics).

There’s no way Angie is eating whatever she wants and just not gaining. Like I said, I like her, but I think it’s valid to say she likely under eats.

      • Janet says:

        What does “undereat” even mean?

It could be she has a very small appetite. I used to be like her. I was underweight well into my late 40s. I simply didn’t feel like eating a lot of the time. I wasn’t sick, anorexic, bulimic or in any way eating-disordered. I just didn’t like to eat a lot.

    • Anne tommy says:

😝I’ll assume you are being ironic, twink

    • Suun12 says:

      Angelina is very classy!

Edit: Sorry, didn’t mean to reply.

  13. Alma says:

A few years ago when angie was in bosnia and croatia, i read an interview with a men from croatia who worked with angy on the film for TLOBAH, he said she ate like bird. She only had coffe and a few strawberrys for breakfast. And the rest if the day she didnt eat much more. I dont know how she thinks she can do action movies and look so vulnearble and thin. Its not believable to see someone so thin and fighting like shes a very strong person. Im a fan but i wish she would eat a bit more. I mean what kind if role model she is for her daughters? I dont want to judge her but i think its not the best rolemodel for daughters.

  14. Lizzy1013 says:

I think she is a person who doesn’t have an appetite when she is stressed out. Some people over eat when they are stressed out, some don’t eat at all. EACH PERSON IS DIfFERENT!!!!!!!

It drives me crazy when people talk about things that they don’t know anything about. The only people who truly know what is going on with a person is that person’s family. Brad and the kids, who live with her day to day, are the only people who can speak to her lifestyle or habits. Everything else is speculation.

One of my favorite quotes, “Don’t worry about what I’m doing. Worry about why you’re worried about what I’m doing.”

    • mkyarwood says:

This and this. I don’t eat much under stress, but I’ve always equated myself to Beverly Crusher on that one.

I just think Angelina doesn’t eat much and it’s not for black and white ‘she’s anorexic’ reasons. I think she just really wants to emulate Audrey Hepburn in all things.

  15. Amcn says:

Really, I would think this is the type of “concern” her family would address with her if there was a problem. She is surrounded by loved ones and I’m sure her health is on the forefront of all their minds. And I’m absolutely certain she wouldn’t be setting such a negative example for her daughters by starving herself.

If she’s happy with how she looks then good for her. If there is one woman in Hollywood that is so much more than just their physical appeal it is Angelina Jolie. Take your damn preconceived notions of what a woman should look like and stick them up KimK’s azz.

    • Bob Loblaw says:

Yeah because families are so good at addressing these types of issues. She isn’t eating, nobody can force her to change, it won’t change unless her health is compromised.

  16. Maureen says:

Sorry, I haven’t read the other comments-but I saw the EW article, and there was a picture of her in a tank top-she looked so, so thin. She might be a person who reacts to stress by loss of appetite-I am the same. The more stressed I am, the less interested in food I get. My husband is the opposite, the more stress he has, the more he wants to eat!

When can I ever watch Unbroken… It’s not going to be shown simultaneously in our country due to the local film festival (exclusive) to be held during Christmas season. So I guess, I will be watching Unbroken next month in January 2015.

I am beginning to be inspired by the interviews, experiences, statements of the people behind the film. Their stories while they were making it. How it changed their lives in one way or another. Gave them a different perspective on how to deal with challenges & how to rise above it. I am curious what makes this film so special that it was only realized after more than 50 years. I am also trying to look for Unbroken book but to no avail. Not yet available. Hoping to get a copy of this book in the future.

With the ongoing awards talk, I don’t want to get distracted by it. I want to be imparted with the MESSAGE that Louis Z wanted to share to everyone. If AJ & cast as well as the whole Unbroken team seemed to have valued & have felt honored, privileged & proud that they were a part of this film, it must truly be very special.

Awards or no awards, what is more lasting is the message and what it can do to our lives. May AJ continue to make films with messages that touches our hearts.

    • Ennie says:

I got to hear it in audiobook form in YT. You can maybe order it in amazon, since it ships books without problems to many places. I did not buy it in print due to visual problems.

  18. Wingnut says:

Does this mean her fans will finally consent to admitting she looks like a stick insect? Probably not. I just don’t see how it’s “body shaming” to say that she doesn’t look healthy. She just doesn’t. And her Laura croft years weren’t the only time she looked normal. She looks very thin, very old, and very tired now. But the fans say the same thing about her fake boobs and how “normal” they supposedly look, forgetting that through the miracles of sight and google, anyone can see that she used to be much smaller. She could come right out and admit that she has a reason to be this thin, and her fans would spin it.

  19. Adrien says:

Who is this Miyavi? *googles*. Omg, I’m in love.

  20. TwoBirds says:

I do think for some people, extreme stress can result in lack of sleep and in turn lack of appetite. After reading this book, I can’t imagine the amount of high stress and pressure that would amount in making it into a movie. So I totally see what he is saying referring to her eating habits while filming. On another note, I am so excited for this movie yet so nervous about seeing it at the same time. It’s going to be difficult to watch some parts but the story is just so amazing and inspiring!

  21. Lisa says:

This is the most boring gossip ever.

  22. Lorelai says:

Who the eff cares if or what she eats and when? Does it make her a better person? Of course not. Why would he even notice?

    • Bob Loblaw says:

Only thing I care about is she eat enough to stay healthy, she looks frail, I hope she is more robust than she appears but as slight as she is, she needs to eat to fuel her active lifestyle. If she fails to eat enough calcium her body will leech it from her bones. It’s not about anything other than common sense, she plans to live to be an old lady, she needs to take care of her bones today. It’s about what she wants out of life for herself and her kids, she wants to be there to be Gramma so she needs to eat today whether she likes it, feels like it or not.
