Last week, I asked the “where is Johnny Depp?” question. Johnny materialized on Saturday on the Yoga Hosers set. You can see a picture of him here. He’s covered in prosthetics, of course. Johnny doesn’t play “normal” anymore, and this Kevin Smith movie may be as ridiculous as Mortdecai looks.
For months, we’ve heard about how Johnny and Amber Heard were having problems after Johnny’s drunken HFAs speech. E! has a new story about Johnny and Amber rekindling their chemistry at Johnny’s mom’s birthday party. E! has a photo of Johnny and Amber in a car together. They enjoyed a “relaxed, comfortable,” and romantic evening:
Apparently, these two have turned a new leaf in the New Year.
Following a string of reports speculating that Johnny Depp and fiancée Amber Heard are headed for a split, the couple, who got engaged in January 2014 after meeting on the set of the 2011 film The Rum Diary, attended an 80th birthday party for Depp’s mom, which also served as an NYE bash, at West Hollywood’s Ago restaurant on Wednesday.
The attractive couple was photographed in the car together arriving at the eatery, and while Depp’s mug is barely visible in the pic (with the exception of his blue shades), Heard looked gorgeous, wearing a rose-colored eye shadow and bright red lips.
According to a source, the Italian restaurant, which is co-owned by Robert De Niro, was rented out for the occasion, and the low-key soiree served as a family friendly evening.
“Everyone had a great time,” the source said, adding that the party was “relaxed and comfortable” and “a great way to start 2015.”
The couple snuck in and out of the private bash, where guests included family and close friends, in an attempt to keep a low profile. And while the two found themselves at the center of breakup reports just one month prior, the insider says the couple is heading into the New Year with their romance stronger than ever.
“Amber and Johnny are really happy,” the source said of the Heard, 28, and Depp, 51, who have been known to have a roller-coaster relationship. “And their relationship is in a really good place.”

E! goes on to say that Johnny and Amber stayed at the party until 1:00 am. Dude is 51, how does he do it? I stay up almost every night until midnight, and New Year’s Eve still tires me out. E! also stresses that Johnny and Amber are both very “intense people” with “extreme personalities.” Remember when we heard about Johnny proposing to Amber because “she’s such a free spirit“? Either something has changed, or something is amiss with what’s being fed to the press. Amber previously admitted to feeding false stories to her friends to trick the press, so it’s hard to iron out the truth.

So now we are told the troubles between Depp and Heard were due to them being ‘very intense people’. Sort of like Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton in Heard’s imagination, I guess. Well. She sure knows how to spin a story.
Nothing can be as ridiculous as Depp in Smith’s “Tusk.” Nothing. Worst movie of 2014.
I found his character/performance to be hilarious. The movie was pretty good to me. There was far worse movies in 2014.

I personally, don’t think this relationship with Amber is going to last…at least I hope not! If they do get married, I predict a divorce within a few months. I hope, at least, JD, gets an iron clad pre-nup…but he is so wierd, he probably won’t…
I doubt this will actually lead to a marriage. He’s a serial proposer but he never actually takes them to the altar. I think these fluffy stories about what a great place they’re in mean we’ll see a split not too far in the future.
He got married in the 80s and his 90s engagements didn’t work out because the relationships were just problematic. This one is different.

Yeah, but he wasn’t middle-aged in his previous relationships. He’s not aging gracefully and is probably looking for someone to ‘keep him young.’ I think she’s in control of where this goes. But who cares about JD’s pre-nup? He’s not going to struggle to pay his rent, even if he ends up paying a hefty divorce settlement down the line.
@Orly Yeah he was younger and crazier. Now he’s older and wiser. What makes you think he is not aging gracefully? Have you read/seen his interviews where he talks about aging in such a mature way?
If he just wanted to ‘feel young’ he would date a new hot young thing every month and not settle down with a grown woman approaching her 30s.
A new study just out says that a couple with a 25 year age gap has a 10% chance of lasting – 90% will divorce. Not very good odds.

The character of Holly Golightly could be pretty intense even if also considered free-spirited.

Miss Heard is keeping her eyes firmly on ‘the prize’, which in her case consists of fame and power.
And Depp still serves her purposes her well. In the absence of any major film hits for either of them, the ‘relationship trouble’ will do in getting her the attention she craves.
But Holly found love and her cat in the end.
I get an eyes on the prize vibe from Heard. I’m not one of those who blame her for all of Johnny’s problems though. He’s a grown man. I think she’s in it to advance her career, she doesn’t seem into him at all. More humoring and honoring him sweetly, like as Capote said about Holly, an American geisha. Frankly, I’m still not convinced she’s into guys. People assume she was a fake lesbian because she is pretty and femme, but there’s more than enough evidence that she likes girls(i.e. at least one long term relationship with a woman before she was famous), and basically only this relationship of convieniece and her word to show that she likes guys. Hardly a winning endorsement of straightness, especially given that being out and “just gay” rather than bi would knock out a big part of her potential fanbase as “the hot girl.”
@Alexis Wow you really didn’t do your research at all, did you? She wasn’t in a long term relationship with a woman and she never came out as a lesbian.
She’s actually dated a lot of men in the past. She’s dated Valentino Lanus, Mark Wystrach, Crispin Glover, Austin Nichols, Arthur Wybrands. She’s only been with two women.

Sara, find a hobby that doesn’t include defending these 2 in every comment someone makes. Do you work for Amber? In 95% of photos, they look unhappy and miserable. He is always holding onto her while she’s eyeballing someone else. Amber is in it to boost her career and he’s afraid of aging. They look ridiculous together.

Johnny actually doesn’t care at all about aging and if she is in it to boost her career then she is doing a very poor job of using it because they’ve been together for years and she is still doing the kind of movies she did before she was with him.

@ Kiddo Love the reference to Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Interestingly, the book by Capote ends on a more ambiguous note than the film. In the novella, Holly leaves for Brazil and once there writes to say that she has fallen in love with a rich and married man. She promises to write again but never actually does, leaving the narrator to wonder what has happened to her. Capote, by the way, described the Holly Golightly character as an ‘American geisha’.

@Alexis Or maybe, like me, she’s geniunely bisexual? There is a whole concept called the Kinesy scale in regards to human sexuality which shows that it’s possible to be attracted to more than one gender. I doubt Amber Heard gets much social power out of being openly bixsexual. All I ever got out of publicy stating my bisexuality was being told I wasn’t (apparently hetrosexuality or homosexuality are the socally acceptable options). And occasionally dudes explicitly wanting to watch me make out with other women.

It’s obviously the People mag story was from JD’s team and the E! story is from someone on hers since she has always used E! to get stories out there. Now the question is have thing really changed that quickly or is she just trying to make people think they are still going well for her own personal reasons? I wouldn’t be surprised if the minute people started hearing that things were going south between them that all of her “connections” and “invites” started to dry up.
Johnny never has done any story for PEOPLE since 1996 when they did a cover with him and Kate Moss and he went mad. He never did an interview nor photoshoot for them not even for the Sexiest Man Alive (two times). People don’t do his PR, nor E! (because a couple of weeks back they were also saying they had troubles)
Us Magazine comes from his PR. And their story was about they have a date for a wedding in March, but Amber was having second thoughts because his “erratic behaviour” (not because his alcohol issues, but his “moods” which is obviously a way that PR teams change words to make it looks like his problems are about his personality and not his vicious)
People never had something right about this couple before anyway. They are useful to “confirm” things that already happened (like their engagement) not for exclusives (that’s US Mag)
He did an interview and a photo shoot with People for Sexiest Man Alive in 2009.
3 years ago, People did a cover story on him and Vanessa Paradis being over and living separate lives. The same mag that reported last month that he and Amber are dealing with turmoil in their relationship. Hmm..

People was second after Radar Online about his “split” with Vanessa Paradis and they surely were well informed because they had “sources” between people working in the industry (like studio executives, etc) and his split from Vanessa was far of being a secret for those people.

Amber is not really in it for fame or attention, which is the reason she refused to talk about him in interviews and the reason we didn’t hear of them for months before his HFA appearance. She would make him pose with her on every red carpet if he was her “show pony” but that’s not the case. They are a private couple.
Sara, Amber IS with him for a come up but she can’t get a decent role because she doesn’t have the talent and anything worthy to contribute to Hollywood. Amber has done EVERYTHING in the last 10 years to get attention and be the next Jolie. Just because SHE refuses to speak about him and their life doesn’t mean anything. She has her friends and PR feed stories to the media and post personal pictures online. Johnny’s been to more public events with Amber than with his ex of 14 yrs. He looks like a tragic mess since hooking up with her.

Vanessa attended almost all events with him till 2009, the only event they attended since then was the 2010 Chanel event. All what him and Amber attended (post-relationship) is 5 events, she didn’t even attend his movie premieres.

She auditioned 5 times for The Rum Diary after writing a letter begging the director to cast her. Johnny can’t get her a big respectable role because the big studios don’t want to hire her. Btw. I do fully believe that some hollywood stars have paid online commentators who post on many gossip and entertainment news sites. Sometimes if you go through some of the comments on pages like laine y g then you find information about actors and their trysts which are true but so difficult to find such stuff on the internet (cause it is old or on foreign pages that google english can’t find or that google translate doesn’t translate well) that it is more likely some friend of the actor is giving some trash talk behind their backs or some backhanded compliments.
Such things are certainly amusing but it ain’t worth breaking into an argument about it.
Maybe the “turmoil” in their relationship was really Johnny’s drinking and now that he -reportedly- undergo a treatment because she asked him to do it, they are back to normal or “stronger than ever” because they both know now that they could make it through huge problems together (i don’t think it’s a coincidence that Amber also disappeared all these months along him)
They have faced many problems in their relationship (since they met, when both had their relationships, to the scandal for the split from their partners, criticism, age gap, paparazzi madness, etc) that i think if they make it through this now i believe this two could marry and surprise everybody (again, because no one expected their relationship, much more less they will make it this far)
About his new character. The lazy-eyed Guy Lapointe was hilarious in Tusk (even if the movie isn’t everybody’s taste, because is gruesome) so i’m not sure about the parallel with Mortdecai (not released yet)

It always was weird to me that the stories in the magazines were about Amber not ready to settle down (even when as far i saw the past month, she goes to the activities at the school of the children and was with them for thanksgiving, etc. To have responsabilities over the lives of her stepchildren sound more than ready “to settle down” to me) and not about Johnny’s alcohol issues other than the vague mention to his “erratic behaviour” in US MAG. It could be that his team was trying to spin the things because she was about to move out of him

I disagree. Alcoholism is a disease that has physiologic basis, but like everything the lifestyle works for or against it and I think is Amber’s fault in Johnny back to drinking or at least for let him not happy, because anyone who wants to start a new life together will never start or back to drink, unlesd Johnny is not really happy with the life he’s living next to her.
It seems that besides being living with negative comments he realized that made a mistake by agreeing to take this relationship to go ahead.
When two people are in tune adverse moments make them be closer, when these people don’t have affinities they tend to attack each other, either with words or with attitudes like to drink again.
I think it really such a crisis was the alcohol,Indeed it seems that he is really dealing with now.And only perceive the event yesterday, happiness of both, and Johnny drinking redbull the table.
E! has reported that their relationship is ok, but at the same time I think something bothers them about this relationship, for they have managed to get an answer directly from Amber saying that she goes all the weekend to night clubs and also have a hilarious Tim Burton’s response on their wedding.
About US mag, it has not been much Johnny’s ‘friend’, so I doubt very much they help his PR
