Maggie Gyllenhaal wore Thakoon to the SAGs last night where she was nominated for The Honourable Woman. This dress looked fantastic in motion, but in not so much in photos. She’s dropped her frumpy tendencies below the shoulders. Something’s still off. It’s the hair, right? Maggie’s sticking with the pixie cut. The dress is nice though, and the white looks very clean and crisp. Maggie’s jewelry was Fred Leighton, including Victorian gold pendant earrings and a 1940s-style peridot and diamond ring.
Matthew McConaughey worked his Civil War vibe in a blue Brioni suit. The style star of this couple was Camila Alves. I loved her Donna Karan Atelier gown. She knew how to work the asymmetrical offshoot into a side train. She looked gorgeous without pulling focus from Matthew, whose blue suit was shouty.
Caitriana Balfe wore another beautiful gown. This is Solace. The fluttery fabric reminds me of the flames of a fire. How poetic. The styling is on point down to the off-orange shoes.
Amanda Peet wore one of the worst dresses of the night. This J. Mendel whipped up a casual saloon look with a rack shelf to boot. She’s so pretty, but this dress is fug.
Paula Patton‘s style hasn’t improved much since splitting from Robin, but at least her Aiisha Ramadan dress didn’t include any mesh overlays. This look is very bridal with Gordman’s craft appliques.

While I love Maggie G., I have never liked her in that short hair. She seems to look best with a short bob length because her hair is fine. I just finished watching The Honorable Woman starring Maggie G. and it was a great series, and she’s got the super short hair in that, too. Please, Maggie, go back to your longer styles. She’s a wonderful actress and is big on humanitarian issues.
It doesn’t help that she’s a little plain. (Which I don’t feel that bad saying since she seems pretentious and smug)
I think you’re right about Maggie G’s hair, because the dress is very stylish. When I first looked at her I couldn’t put my finger on what wasn’t working, so yeah.
Why would Amanda Peet wear such a thing? She’s made some bad choices in the past too.
I think Maggie’s dress is great. Her face is just too round for that pixie cut. Same problem Kaley Cuoco has. Same reason I never went for the pixie cut even though I desperately wanted it several years ago.
That is without doubt the best Amanda Peet has ever looked on the red carpet. So that tells you just how bad her fashion sense is.
Camilla Alves’s dress is AMAZING. It doesn’t come across in pictures, but on tv the color was divine. I may be bias because purple is my favorite color, but wow.
Mathew and Camila have the worst body language, they have for a long time. it’s awkward and makes me uncomfortable even to look at them.
I see divorce in their future. She looks great though.

I don’t know who the lady in yellow/orange is but she looks pretty although I don’t like yellow/orange tones usually and I don’t care for it here either. I do like the cut of her dress and she is styled well, I have to give her that.

Maggie could be a lot better looking with a cuter cut that flatters her face instead of making it look like a lumpy potato. She does it to herself, and then probably wonders why people comment on her (lack of) looks.
You CAN have a modern, short cut! Hers looks like something we sported in the 60’s or 70’s. And it wasn’t good. She must be real attached to it, cuz she never seems to change it up. Too bad.

It looks just awful. It’s almost like she has a toupee perched up there. Maybe she is trying to grow it out and is just stuck in a bad in-between stage.
I am watched “The Honourable Woman”, OMG! What a great show, this lady is a damn good actress, her posh British accent is PERFECT! Love it and she looks elegant here.
Both Jake and Maggie Gyllenhaal did fabulous jobs last year, what a talented duo.
That show was amazing, I had to re-watch an episode as I felt I missed something she was great the entire cast and the plot. The guy who created it did the Shadow Line which is equally amazing with Chiwetal Eljiofor. If you come across it very good.

Maggie really does look frumpy, it’s part hair and body language, but she’s absolutely adorable in interviews–I will forever love her because of Secretary.
Amanda’s dress is full of failure and I’m not impressed with Caltriana’s dress either, love the color, loathe the material because it looks cheap–as do most dresses with the same finish.
Camille wins, as always, Matthew looks a mess.

I just really hate Maggie G’s look – the hair, the boobs, the red lips – it’s all wrong. I think she needs a new style fast. I’d love to see her grow a bob and wear a tailored pant suit.
Is Amanda Peet pregnant? That looks like a maternity dress. For some reason all the pregnant stars have been dressing terribly this season.

Maggie rocked that gown. I love it on her. I agree it looked so much better in motion, not in the still photos. Personally, I wish she would grow her hair out, but she looked great. She admitted she didn’t like it short over a year ago, so I have been surprised that she’s kept it short.

I love Maggie’s white dress. It’s modern and sleek and fits so well. I don’t love her hair, but that dress…love it.
A wavy, layered bob with a side part would look good on her and with that dress. That kind of Mia Farrow pixie cut only looks good on someone with a more triangular or heart-shaped face, like Mia, or like Winona Ryder.
