By my estimation, Robert Pattinson and FKA Twigs have been together for about seven months at the most. In that time period, they’ve moved pretty fast. She stays with him when they’re in LA, and I think he stays at her place when they’re in London. He was her road dog during her North American tour last fall, and he also followed her to Europe, where she had some shows. She’s met his parents and they seem to approve. Sparkles and Twigs barely seem to spend any time apart. So it isn’t any wonder that even People Magazine says that there are engagement rumors in the mix these days. But here’s what shocked me: People Mag says that Sparkles and Twigs are doing “promise rings”. UGH.
Is Robert Pattinson looking to seal the deal with FKA twigs? The Twilight star, 28, and his musician girlfriend, 27, are both sporting promise rings, a friend of the couple tells PEOPLE.
“He wants to marry her,” the source says, describing his pal as “much more calm and happy than before.”
“They are inseparable when they are together. They live at his house,” the source adds.
Pattinson and the singer/songwriter – whose stage name stands for “Formerly Known As” twigs, a childhood nickname – were first linked after they stepped out together in Hollywood in September. He joined his new leading lady on her European tour in October, and the couple packed on the PDA during Art Basel in Miami at the end of last year. They were last spotted out and about after the Brit Awards on Feb. 25.
Pattinson may remain hush-hush when it comes to his personal life, but he is “smitten,” a Pattinson pal told PEOPLE in September when dating reports first surfaced.
They’re both at that age where it’s pretty reasonable to assume that they’ve at least discussed engagement and marriage. So if he really is thinking about proposing, why not just do it? Why the promise ring stuff? I mean, he’s 28 and she’s 27. They’re not teenagers. They’re adults with money and careers and such. Pop the question, Sparkles!

Which is exactly why I think this story is a bunch of nonsense. I do think they are in a serious relationship, and he probably has given her jewelry, but 29 yr old men do not give promise rings. It sounds like a Seventeen magazine article from 1985. When even dlisted admits Rob and twigs are a bit too cool for something so juvenile, you know it’s very unlikely.

Definitely the Pendulum video along with the overtly submissive themes in the Papi Pacify video. And her reading Anais Nin with Rob on the beach a while back (many submissives’ favorite author). Clearly, I’m only speculating, but she definitely helps to create the impression. So given her interests, and their serious interest in each other, just wondering if maybe they are bonding on a nontraditional sexual level. The relationship seems quietly intense. Or maybe I’m just a perv… lol.

I remember her saying in some interview that she likes to play with those dominant/submissive roles, and it would be boring if a person were the same all the time. You can hear it in her lyrics, sometimes she is the powerful one, sometimes not. I am sure we will never know, lol. I do think they are a fun and sexy couple, and both seem content and happy with each other.

They may not be teenagers anymore, but it doesn’t mean they’re mature enough to marry. If they realize they’re not then props to them. Anyway I like them a lot together!

Yep totally agree with you. Rings can just be gifts. Whether they are talking marriage or not can be a separate issue. They do seem to have a pretty intense relationship. Trying to decide if he would be the traditional “propose on bended knee” kind of guy.

Yes. It’s total BS. People Magazine has slowly morphed into Star Magazine as far as credibility goes. This couple is quite open with the PDA – my take is that they don’t GAF about what anybody else thinks. If there is a ring, we’ll see it.

American “tradition”? That’s a little strong. Its a fairly recent thing I think, among kids too young to marry. I’ve heard of it, but don’t know of anyone who has actually done it.
I honestly do not believe in promise rings because to me, they mean its not going to last. If a man wants to marry a woman…they just do it with an engagement ring and start working towards the date.
