A few weeks have passed since Jennifer Lawrence dropped her serious essay about wage inequality, which is notable because she’s speaking out on a social issue. JLaw likes to be jokey, not so serious, and she’s achieved her own wage equality (and then some), so the pattern (for most Hollywood types) would be to pretend the problem doesn’t exist. Yet it does, and JLaw isn’t pulling a Meryl Streep and pretending things are okay because she’s treated well in Hollywood.
In the aftermath of Jennifer’s essay she received support from Bradley Cooper, who pledged to stand up for his female co-stars during his future salary negotiations. JLaw is heavily in demand, so she’ll be fine. Other actresses, no so much. Jennifer’s Hunger Games co-star, Josh Hutcherson (the boy with the bread), spoke out on how he feels. In short, he can’t believe we’re still debating this issue in 2015:
The actress’ recent essay on the gender wage gap in Hollywood has taken off online, and now she has another supporter in her Hunger Games co-star Josh Hutcherson.
Hutcherson, whose new short film The Rusted premieres Thursday night on AOL’s BUILD series, told The Huffington Post that he thinks the essay is great. “I think it’s insane what happens with women’s pay. To even say those words, feels so stupid. To have to say the words ‘women’s pay.’ Like, it just sounds ignorant.”
The actor continued, “[Jennifer] is great. She’s the perfect person to speak on that. She’s very powerful, she’s very influential and she says what she thinks. And I think she makes a lot of great points — her and Amy Schumer. They’re doing a project together now, and they both have that personality of being yourself and accepting it, and I think Jen’s in a great position to fight for something like equal pay.”

I love him. JHutch knows where it’s at. He’s spoken out on a number of social issues and has a solid head on his shoulders. I’m also thrilled that he’s speaking out, because it’s extremely ridiculous that we have to have a huge discussion about this now. These issues should have been solved decades ago, but we still have plenty of work to do.

Can I just say that although any media attention for wage inequality is clearly good, that it is completely absurd that only when incredibly privileged (white) actresses are affected does it get any discussion or social media presence… I guess it’s nice that now privileged actors are also now saying words? SMH
That’s sadly how’s it’s been with typically every issue. Only when a privelaged class speaks on an issue and becomes a prominent supporter does it finally start to get attention.

Yes it’s wrong but sadly it’s not new. Let’s hope it helps everyone although history has shown that doesn’t always happen. But let’s pray we are finally evolved enough to make it different this time.
I love him too. I just rewatched “Catching Fire” yesterday and I’m team Peeta all the way, even looks-wise. Yes, he’s short, but he’s so handsome and cute at the same time. Can’t wait for Mockingjay 2!
I just adore this guy!…I love the friendship he and Jennifer Lawrence have together.
Liam is always such a third wheel when Jen and Josh are together in the same interview. I would feel bad for him if he wasn’t such a douche.
Liam is dull as a dishwasher. I usually see that most very, very good looking men go two ways, they are either total douches or pretty nice and polite without being particularly interesting. It’s the female attention. They are so used to getting it for free they never really worked on their personality.
Josh is very common-looking but he’s very witty, sweet and always adresses serious subjects with tact and intelligence, which is a skill very few people have. Not just actors – people in general are bad at discussing serious things.
My 17 year old niece and her friends met him at a coffee shop this weekend. He was so kind and cool to them. I don’t think I’ve ever seen her so excited.
I don’t think Josh is a very good actor, but he’s very charming and smart. I like reading his interviews.
I need him, Amandla and Zendaya to get together and just do something. I don’t know what that could be, but I’m sure whatever it is, it’d be amazing. I love him so much and I’m so happy of being his admirer.

He’s smart, witty, welll spoken and seems to know what’s up. His friendship with jlaw is very cute but sometimes when they’re being interviewed together I find them both very annoying. His hotness peaked in Catching Fire, specifically the tribute parade. He will never be as hot again. (this is probably a weird comment, but I find him very American)
My problem with him is his ‘charity’ which is super sketchy and doesn’t seem to do anything except fund the lavish lifestyles of his friends.

Spot on. The fact that we need something like “women’s pay” or “gay rights” or “black lives matter” in 2015 is crazy right?
While it sucks that the privileged group has to bring the voice to these debates I’m always okay with a powerful ally lending a voice. If their intentions are good who am I to say anything?
I love the conversation happening in Hollywood i really do, but these are women that get paid 10s of millions of dollars for sometimes a couple weeks or months of work. What about the rest of us? How does this Hollywood pay gap trickle down to me in my 9-5 government job? Whereby working in a hospital makes me a government employee and not able to negotiate my salary?
