The Duchess of Cornwall asked Kit Harington flat-out if Jon Snow is dead

FFN_Celebs_ITV_FFUK_090915_51844832

Kit Harington has been lying for months. It’s almost been a full year of lies, actually. Ever since the Season 5 finale of Game of Thrones, Kit has repeatedly and unequivocally lied about Jon Snow, Game of Thrones and whether he’s filmed anything for Season 6. Considering we have the receipts that prove that Kit did in fact film some significant stuff for Season 6, Kit has continued to lie, lie, lie. Anyway, back in the summer of 2015, Kit had already begun his Tour of Lies. He was invited to sit in the Royal Box at Wimbledon, and it happened to be the day that the Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall was in attendance. And guess what? Camilla asked Kit if Jon Snow is really dead. And Kit lied to the duchess.

Game of Thrones conspiracy theories surrounding the fate of Jon Snow have reached such an extent that Kit Harington even found himself being harangued by a member of the royal family. Harington described how the obsession with his character’s demise was highlighted when the Duchess of Cornwall couldn’t help but drill him for information during a visit to Wimbledon.

His presence there sparked a flurry of reports speculating whether Jon Snow was still alive simply due to the fact his hair was the same length as his character’s in the show after he was supposed to have departed from it. He told Jonathan Ross: “Me and my brother got invited to Wimbledon as you do and a Royal was hosting, we didn’t know which Royal it was and it was the Duchess of Cornwall, and she was hosting it and we got sat with her, me and my brother. She leant over the table and said, “Are you dead?” No word of a lie.”

Harington is continuing to emphatically insist Jon Snow is dead, not that anyone is paying any attention. However, he did admit his character would be making an appearance in the new series, albeit as a corpse.

“I won’t tell you how many episodes I’m lying dead but it’s enough that I was out there for quite a while. It’s going to be so satisfying when you see it and you realise that I was telling the truth the whole time. There’s a guy at my Sainsburys I go to, I love this man. He’s very dear to my heart. He sees me come in and he goes straight to the till and he bars everyone else, he flicks them across until I get there and he goes ‘You ain’t dead is it?’ And I’m like ‘I am dead.’ And he goes, ‘Nah, you ain’t dead, I know’ and I’m like, ‘How do you know? I’m dead.’ And he goes, ‘You’d be crying if you were dead’ and this happens everytime I go in. I think he thinks I’d be weeping in the street for the rest of my life that I’m not in Game of Thrones anymore.”

[From The Independent]

No, seriously: Kit would be crying if he was really killed off. So would all of the fans. And I guess it’s surprising to learn that Camilla is a fan? We didn’t know that. We knew that Kate and William were Downton Abbey fans, and we knew that Camilla liked some dark Swedish murder show. But we didn’t know that Camilla is a Throner. That makes me like Camilla more, honestly. I wonder if she makes Charles watch it. Probably not. She’s probably taping it and watching it when he’s not around. Is she House Lannister or House Stark?

    Camilla!

  2. LAK says:

I wonder how much of a historian she is and whether she recognises the storylines/family groups lifted straight out of her husband’s family history.

    • Crumpet says:

That’s a good question. I wonder if she has read the books? I haven’t watched the series at all, but devoured all the books. I can’t wait for the next installment.

    • Lyssa says:

Charles and Camilla are related. They are both descendents of Henry Cavendish. Plus, Camilla’s grandma is probably the illegitimate daughter of King Edward VII. It’s probably her own family history as well as her husbands. Since they are kissing cousins.

      • LAK says:

That’s a given considering aristocratic habit of marrying each other or into the royals, even if said royals were illegitimate. They are all kissing cousins to varying degrees.

However, Charles being a direct descendant of the history as opposed to Camilla’s more convoluted route into the same history, has a greater claim to it, no?

      • Lyssa says:

Charles does have the most direct route, but Camilla’s is way more Game of Thrones. Either way, it reminds me of Cersei and Lancel. Without the betrayal of course.

      • LAK says:

Game of thrones is directly taken from/inspired by the most turbulent of Charles’s ancestors, the plantagenets, to be more specific, the war of the roses, better known as the war of the cousins the house of York vs house of Lancaster, throw in the riLancaster house of Tudors and every medieval baron that thought they’d give the throne of England a go or help one of the warring houses to/from the throne.

Charles’s line only stabilised in the age of Victoria.

Nothing in Camilla’s background, no matter how scandalous you may personally find it, is comparable.

    • chelsea says:

Anyone with a little bit of English history can figure that one out.

  3. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I sort of hope he is dead. Kit is so annoying.

    • Nancy says:

Kit seems like an a hole….but Jon Snow is all that. This is one time I can separate the actor from the role. Usually can’t.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I loved John Snow in the books. Kit hasn’t completely ruined him for me but he’s trying.

      • Nancy says:

Lol. Even fictional men can screw things up without putting much effort into it. The man in my home is proving that to me this morning. Do you get blamed when he can’t find something? I do and it gets tiring 🙁

      • KBeth says:

I can’t stand his pouty little sad face. He looks like the kind of guy who cries after sex.

      • Snowflake says:

        @ Nancy.
Yes, my husband couldn’t find his headphones and called me at work, accusing me of having them. An hour later, he found them by the bed, where he left them and called to apologize.

  4. Mara says:

Game of Thrones and some quality Nordic Noir. Camilla has much better taste than William and Kate when it comes to TV.

  5. Jen says:

I like her even more now

    • vauvert says:

Me too. But I always liked her, which I know some people immediately assume to mean that I approve of/ encourage/ condone infidelity. I don’t – I just think that people are complex creatures, not defined by a single fact in their life.

That aside, I think – and hope – that Kit lies, because Snow is one of my favourites in the book. If Martin really killed him… I will be super mad. Any chance he left a baby behind we don’t know of yet?? That could continue the line? Or.. I don’t know anymore, juts want the damn book already. Particularly since we know that the book and the show will diverge even more now.

    • epiphany says:

Jon Snow IS dead – Jon Targaryen, however, is alive and well, and will be with us, but perhaps not until Season 7. Harington isn’t lying, based on that technicality. Jon is the rightful King of Westeros, and he isn’t going anywhere, he’ll simply be known by his true name, once he’s resurrected.

      • epiphany says:

Sorry, forgot to add, the give away proof that Harington isn’t done with GoT is his hair. He’s complained about having to keep it long since Season 1 – if he were truly off the show, he’d have cut it by now. Season 6 is wrapped, so obviously, he’s keeping it long because he will be back for Season 7, when his true identity will likely be revealed.

      • CoKatie says:

Exactly. He’ll be back, in his new form, probably in Series 7. I believe him (partially) when he says all we’ll see of him during Series 6 is the dead form of Jon Snow – and perhaps a nice slot in the Hall of Faces.

        Winter is coming …

I really adore that Camilla came straight out and asked him. Wonderful!

  6. Hejhej says:

Oh, the lies Kit keeps on with.. Well, I guess the real question is if he stays dead so technically he’s not lying. I sort of feel TPTB should have given him better instructions in how to deal with the whole thing.
Cams is/was a fan of the Danish series “Forbrydelsen” – the series “The Killing” is based on. When she and Charles went on an official visit to Denmark a few years ago she requested to visit the set of the show and was obviously delighted to meet the lead actress Sofie Gråbøl 🙂

    • Linn says:

Yep, she should have asked if he stays dead.

    • Tough Cookie says:

How cool!! I remember reading she had visited the set, I didn’t know she had received a sweater like the main character’s as a gift. I wonder if she wears it to hang around Highgrove and binge watch the show on Netflix.

    • ArtHistorian says:

She was gifted a knitted sweater as well – just like the female character wore in the show. 😉

  7. Nancy says:

Oh sweet Camilla. She had her love Charles all the time and Diane knew it. Can you imagine. This does make her more relatable, as she is just as curious as we are. But really, getting a little tired of Jon Snow. The big question is tonight: Daryl, Glenn, Eugene…..?

  8. Ramona Q. says:

I never noticed that Camilla is Pippa-level orange.

  9. NL says:

I know we’re supposed to hate her but I think she’s fabulous and I love how much she and her husband adore each other.

    • HappyMom says:

I’m with you. I was such a huge Diana fan back in the day-I was a young teen when they got married and I thought she was amazing. But I think Camilla is delightful and she obviously makes Charles happy-at everything they attend they look completely besotted with each other and totally engaged with whatever they’re doing.

    • ABE says:

I love her, she’s funny and witty

      • paddyjr says:

I love her too. Charles seems a lot happier and she seems to have embraced her role as a future Queen Consort very well.

      • lisa2 says:

Gosh I’m so glad I’m not the only one.. I wasn’t a fan of Diana.. all that unconditional love.

but I agree what Charles and Camilla seem very happy together. And The Queen seems to like her a great deal as well. They actually seem like buddies.. I know..but they do.

      • Tourmaline says:

Love her too. I think she’s fabulous and a hoot. It’s telling that the royal press pack loves her too, she is very kind with them.

    • mytake says:

I like her, too. Especially her taste in TV!

    • Magnoliarose says:

Yep. I like Cam. She seems easy and fun. I know she was the other woman but that’s history and the show must go on. They both seem happy together and Dolittle makes her look even better than ever.

  10. Peanutbuttr says:

Charles and HM are Doctor Who fans so I wouldn’t put it past Camilla to be a GoT fan.

  11. Size Does Matter says:

Pretty sure Camilla is House Lannister and Diana would have been House Stark. Or something.

And I think Kit is so afraid of saying the wrong thing trying to be mysterious that he just keeps saying Jon Snow is dead.

    • Hejhej says:

The Spencer’s certainly aren’t the Starks. Diana’s father was a mean man and her brother is an abusive sh*thead. Just about everything Prince Charles did (or was acused of doing) to Diana, Charles Spencer did to his first wife. I’m not sure his second or third wife was treated much better either. His speech at Diana’s funeral was absurd considering his own way of living life.

    • Gerta says:

NONE of the aristos would be house stark because house stark is NORTHERN.

Honestly guys and gals -the writer based this entire world on the War of the Roses and as a result class politics in GB – read a wiki every now and then!

      • Breakfast Margaritas says:

        House stark are northern aristos.

      • LAK says:

Not all aristos are from the south.

Per War of the Roses, The House of York was beloved in north of England.

Therefore the Starks in GOT are the house of York.

Further, one of the most famous aristocratic houses is the Percy family, whose family seat is in the north.

      • chelsea says:

GOT is obviously based on the War of the Roses, and in the War of the Roses, there were no “good families”. They were all related anyway.

  12. Jen43 says:

Haha. I will be in Ned Stark level mourning if Jon isn’t brought back. I think it may ruin the show for me.

  13. Laura says:

I have to say, I’m incredibly sick and tired of the whole Kit Harrington is lying, because he is not. The character of John Snow is dead. For the love of God, please get over that. He will be resurrected as someone else, I’m sure of it, but John Snow is freaking dead. He was stabbed to death by the Nights Watch & for all intents and purpurses is dead. PLEASE GET OVER IT.

With that being said, I’m incredibly excited for the new season. I can’t wait to see what happens to his character, and all the other characters. I think I’m one of the only people that super excited for Bran to come back.

    • This Face Believes You says:

Thank you!!!! Can we all please agree to build a bridge and get over it? Jon SNOW must die to fulfill his oath to the Night’s Watch. If he just abandoned them he would not be the underdog hero that he is (at least to this point) being groomed to be. Give Kit Harrington a break, people won’t stop asking. Part of me thinks he started the misleading answers thinking people would realize they won’t get anything out of him. Its not his fault people won’t take the hint and stop asking.

I also can’t wait for the new season. I’m ready to see Jon Whomever’s story really get going finally!

      • Amy Tennant says:

Yes, his watch ends when he dies. So he will have fulfilled his oath. And then we’ll see what happens.

  14. Rae says:

I’ve always loved Camilla, but I just became an even bigger fan now.

    “Are you dead?”

    Haha! Love it, no preamble.

  15. Allie May says:

Camilla and Charles seem to be working hard for the royal family and that is nice to see. I wish her and Charles the best. They are becoming inspiring figures, and our world dearly needs that. Love to see these articles on the royal family.

  16. Kate says:

I love Camilla. She seems like a fun lady.

  17. Lauren H. says:

I really am not surprised Camilla likes GOT, nor would I be surprised that Charles does, too.

I do wonder if the Queen and Prince Philip have seen the show. They did tour the set, and seemed generally interested in the production.

  18. Amy Tennant says:

We didn’t believe it in the books either. Still don’t.

I’m sure he’s “dead” and returning, not just as a corpse.

My feeling all along has been that Daenerys, Jon Snow and Tyrion live long enough to be in the last book, and after that all bets are off. However, now that HBO has pretty much taken over the plotting from Martin, I’m not as sure.

  19. Dinah says:

Like Camilla although she looks tragic in these photos. Dislike Game of Thrones.

  20. angela says:

Even if John Snow does it doesn’t matter. The Red bitch is at the fort, and will bring him back
