I don’t care what anyone says, I enjoy Korlando* and got irrationally happy when I saw that they attended a charity even together. Then I realized that they didn’t pose on the red carpet gazing at each other adoring and yet I was still in a good mood. They’re rolling this relationship out in such an obvious controlled way. They’ve gone on vacation together multiple times and every time they managed to get papped and an eyewitness pays enough attention to describe their PDA to the press, imagine that. They were just in Aspen, Colorado, where they were papped at close range. A source told E! News that Katy brings Orlando with her places because “All of Katy’s friends and family like Orlando, so bringing him away with her is always a great time.” I love how it’s like she lets him tag along, that seems to be their dynamic.
Meanwhile these two attended the launch of Sean Parker’s foundation, The Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy, last night and People has the details:
Although Perry, 31, and Bloom, 39, walked the red carpet separately, the duo acted very much a couple inside the event.
“They were sitting next to each other,” a source tells PEOPLE. “Bloom had his arm sweetly draped around Perry’s chair as they chatted with Allison Williams. The pair seemed to be in a great mood.”

Parker announced on Wednesday that he will donate $250 million to establish the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy, which will join together 300 researchers from Memorial Sloan Kettering, Stanford Medicine, UCLA, UC San Francisco, MD Anderson and Penn, according to Reuters. The institutions aims to fight cancer cells by triggering the immune system’s ability to seek out and destroy invaders.
This is awesome of Parker, who is currently working on another brilliant idea, The Screening Room, which would allow consumers to rent first run movies at home with a set top box. He’s brokering deals with studios and theater heads now. That’s incredible that Parker is committing $250 million to this cause. Immunotherapy for cancer is a promising field and I remember seeing a 60 Minutes episode about it last year. (60 Minutes has been criticized for over representing positive outcomes however.)
Getting back to Katy and Orlando, now I have something else to look forward to – their first joint red carpet appearance. I like that they’re meting it out and making us wait. Also, how cute must they have looked together in these all black outfits? Katy needs to tone the makeup down though. It’s like she wears performance makeup no matter where she goes. Christina Aguilera and Gwen Stefani also have that issue. Did she need a tiara, rhinestone belt and chandelier earrings? I’m surprised she didn’t add a statement necklace and stacked bracelets.

I agree. This pairing seems a bit off. Why is Katy always picking men who are not the type to settle down with her? I know he’s got looks, but she was awfully hurt when Russell left, and then Mayer, who already had a terrible reputation with the ladies, and now Orlando. When they end up not working out, I hope she’s prepared for the fallout. I like Katy, but I got the idea long ago that she wanted a committed person in her life. Judging by her choices, it doesn’t seem like she’s heading in the right direction.
I love how the headline says “Cute couple?” then shows Katy looking a kooky as usual and Orlando looking all poised and calm. Like, that’s the picture I need to judge whether they’re a cute couple or not, and it made me laugh. Otherwise, I like them. They don’t bother me for some reason.

Current Hodgkin’s lymphoma patient at Memorial Sloan Kettering here. This is awesome news. My oncologist has been doing tests using immunotherapy on lymphoma patients with very promising results. I wasn’t a candidate for it, because fortunately my cancer wasn’t advanced enough to qualify for the trials, but I’m okay with that. (I have an excellent treatment plan and will be fine.) But I find myself following this closely, and am so excited that future patients can benefit from this. Thank you Sean Parker!

Melody, good news indeed. Glad to hear your illness wasn’t advanced enough to qualify you for trials. My mom was treated for Stage 1 Hodgkins 30 years ago. She has been cancer free ever since. Wishing you a fast recovery and much health and happiness.

OK hear me out about the heavy makeup. I think she wears a very full coverage foundation because she doesn’t have the best skin. I have dark pigmentation on my skin and it’s hard to find a full coverage foundation that photographs well. It’s noticeable in pictures that my makeup is “heavier” than my girlfriends but in real life it looks great. This is a common complaint about full coverage foundations.
I have this problem too! I have bad skin and need the coverage.

I like Katy as a person but not her atrocious music. She looks happy with him but she’s the type that needs a troubled guy who’s a little douchey so she can feel challenged and get her insecurities tickled for a little excitement. Who knows, she might be smart and stick with Orlando. I think Orlando’s crazy about her and enjoys her megawatt celeb status relative to his, and I’m glad he’s losing that long hair that suited him when he was in his 20s but makes late-30s Orlando look like a sleazy old guy. He needs a buzz cut.
