The Cannes Film Festival officially starts tomorrow. I’m really looking forward to this year’s Cannes, mostly because… there will be a lot of American actors, celebrities and models on the carpet. I know that sounds Americentric, but I love writing about Cannes fashion, and it helps when the fashion moments come from recognizable people. We’ll have lots of fashion coverage for the new week and a half! YAY!
Anyway, these are some photos of Blake Lively arriving in Nice, France yesterday. She’s there for work. She’s got a smallish part in Woody Allen’s Café Society, plus she’ll be walking red carpets on behalf of her L’Oreal makeup and hair contract. I have to say, I’m even enjoying Blake’s casual airport style here. She’s wearing matchy Burberry – a white Burberry trench with black piping, with matching slacks. I think her bag is Chanel. She’s already announced her second pregnancy, and she just looks lovely. She looked really beautiful and glowy during her first pregnancy too. So, yeah, I’m really looking forward to seeing what she gets up to, fashion-wise.
Thankfully, Blake also gave us a fashion preview, via her Instagram. Serious fashionistas have already ID’d several of these frocks – you’re looking at gowns by Armani, Versace, Vivienne Westwood, Elie Saab, Dior and Giambattista Valli. Apparently, Blake will be exclusively bejeweled by Lorraine Schwartz as well.

I like her trench and I like her pants. I dunno, but together they look too ‘matchy matchy’ to me. Anyone else feel that way?
Agreed. It comes across as “meh” to me. I’m interested in seeing the Elie Saab and Vivienne Westwood gowns though.

see, this is why her ‘fashion girl’ hype is all The Emperor’s New Clothes – anyone with an eye for constructing an outfit would have caught those buttons out and not fastened them.

She looks like a participant in a field and track event. Not feeling it. At least she didn’t wear very much makeup as she usually does. Grade: C-

Burberry outerwear is usually great and timeless.

Blake Lively is walking out of the airport looking like she’s about to dominate the red carpet. I usually don’t like her personal style but I love this look and I’m absolutely in love with her hair in these photos. I think it might be because she’s pregnant. Some women have that pregnant glow because I remember last time she was pregnant she was slaying her fashion looks than too. I look forward to seeing what she brings to the Red Carpet. PS Blake honey don’t over do the make up. You look fantastic with less make up and a more natural look.

the constant promotion of her as a thing is like the human version of what happens when a fancy restaurant serves you oatmeal but tells you it’s actually Nutella, no it really is, we swear!
It’s be oatmeal in a sparkling gown. Hard to really get worked up about.
I usually don’t care much for her fashion but I kinda love this, it’s simple and chic.
Her hair is throwing me off though. I think she was going for a Kate Moss effect but instead it looks like she realized she was late for this event and left the house with her hair wet.

I’m with yo on every point. I often find her too blah but she looks elegant and confident here, like she’s finally grown into adulthood. I think her hair is too long myself, but her overall look is refreshing. I look forward to seeing all of fashion from everyone there.

Hair ENVY
Can’t STAND the woman.
But this is the best she’s looked.
Fresh faced is the way to go for her much like Jessica Simpson.
The heavy makeup she usually wears doesn’t do her any favors.
I envy her hair here, too, and the fact that she has a waistline while pregnant.
I think she looks great, happy and stylish.
I think she opted for a trench to hide her pregnant belly. I always like her freshness and happiness.
Also, is all that HER hair ? No wiglet here ? Oh my #HairEnvy …

She looks wonderful in the trench photo, but damn if those aren’t some David’s Bridal reject bin looking sequined dresses in the other shot.
She looks super tired. I love her trench and shoes though. She’s soooo boring and less than mediocre when it comes to acting but she’s always getting it right style wise.

I really think her old nose is growing back. You know, like tonsils can grow back.
Blake has all of the components to rock fashion but her stylist fails her almost all of the time. Those shoes do not go well with this. I would have preferred the pants with a white drapey t-shirt and then a kimono. No heels but a shade or two darker rich brown shoe.
Her hair looks lush and she looks fresh faced and I like that but I would have liked it styled differently.
I don’t like closed trench coats with matching bottoms.
