Duchess Kate got to go sailing with Sir Ben Ainslie (and William!) again

wenn28669937

Here are some photos of Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge on Sunday in Portsmouth, England. They were partaking in one of Kate’s favorite patronages, the 1851 Trust, by going for a nice sail with Sir Ben Ainslie. Many have said before that Kate seems to have a crush (unrequited?) on Sir Ben. She always seems particularly smiley and fluttery around him. I also think that’s why William came to this event: Wiliam didn’t want a repeat of the event from March, where everyone was speculating/joking about Kate’s crush on Ben.

Will and Kate both wore matching polo shirts, but Kate looked absolutely absurd at the arrival. Considering the whole point of this event was “to go sailing with Ben Ainslie and count it as work,” you would think that Kate would have arrived at the event looking sail-ready, with athletic shoes and a ponytail. But then she would have wasted a fresh blow out! So she wore her hair down, and of course it was windy and her hair was going everywhere. And she arrived wearing a particularly fug pair of Monsoon wedges, then she changed into sneakers afterwards. The jeggings aren’t particularly good either. She has lost so much weight since her second pregnancy, right? She’s thinner now than when she was before she got pregnant with Charlotte.

At the event, William was asked about Prince George’s third birthday, and William said: “What did he get for his birthday? I’m not telling. He got too many things. He’s far too spoilt. He’s not into boats yet.” People Mag reported Ben Ainslie’s sole comment on the event, which was: “It was a wonderful sail.” I wonder how Ben Ainslie really feels about the repeated visits from Kate, and having to spend hours taking her sailing every few months?

Meanwhile, the Daily Mail and other British outlets are reporting that it’s highly unlikely that William, Kate or Harry will travel to Rio for this year’s Olympic Games. The reason being cited is “concerns about Zika.” Incidentally, Princess Charlene of Monaco has also recently decided not to go to Rio, citing Zika concerns. I honestly don’t blame any woman for refusing to go to Rio, especially women of child-bearing age. Kate in particular is probably going to try for a third pregnancy, and the Zika concerns are incredibly justified. A Kensington Palace spokesperson said that Will, Kate and Harry “wrestled for months” with the decision to travel to Rio and they ended up taking medical advice to avoid it. Princess Anne is definitely going though.

What a rich people’s sport right now needs is more support from the RF?

    • Tiffany says:

And they made their donation goal of 100 million already. So this is just something they want to do. While her other charaties that need the help……..

  2. Sixer says:

Only Katie Bucket could put me off Ben Ainslie. Bah.

  3. Rocío says:

Overall she looks good. I hate those shoes but she seems to like them… I also wear some fugly shoes but I don’t get pap

    • Sarah says:

Good???? Really? To me, she looks like she is weeks away from ending up in the hospital for an eating disorder. As thin as she is from the side, she’s minuscule from the front. Someone had better intervene here.

And of course, she does a sailing event. If England keeps these two twits as monarchs, they deserve to have to support them.

      • Feeshalori says:

There’s a picture of her in the DM where she’s striding and her legs look like twigs. I swear, my arms look bigger than her legs and I’m on the small side. Just scary to know that the camera adds extra weight. I remember photos of her during her college days with a slim athletic figure, but never like this.

    • Elise says:

Totes agree. I would murder a baby dolphin to look like that. I have zero commentary on her Ben-crush here because I’m over here longing to fit into those jeans.

  4. Assf says:

Omg shes so skinny takes my breath away…and thats with the camera adding 10 lbs

    • Sarah says:

I agree. My daughter, a photographer, said that she’s skinnier than most models.

    • kaiko says:

Not just skinny, but CHEAP! I’m sorry but she looks dreadful, even by her standards. At least Pippa wears normal skinny jeans, not spandex denim tights like her sister.

      • amunet ma'at says:

Don’t hate on the jeggings. 🙂 They are awesome for curvy chicks with booty.

      • Zardi123 says:

Think also she looks so dreadful certainly NOT the position of a person who is supposed to be representing BRF…. She is just not Royal material never will be ever
her hair is a constant mess no dignity …. Waity has craved for this role and she cannot do the job required ….

    • Ravine says:

Just curious: why do people around seem to treat the saying “the camera adds ten pounds” as some sort of biological/mathematical fact? You realize it’s just an expression, right?…

  5. Betti says:

Aaaah. It’s the return of the wedges of doom nd the fresh fly away blow outs. Girl does like to show the mop off to Ben.

  6. LucyHoneychurch says:

She looks so cute when her hair is in a ponytail! I don’t get why she doesn’t like to wear it up, especially to something like this where it makes sense. Her hair looks bad in the windy pics.

  7. Laura says:

I just looked at her fan blog and it’s going to be 3 months since she last made a visit to a charity, since then it has been only sports, galas and ceremonies for her. She has made 8 in total this year, her schedule is empty now.

    • Kitty says:

That is pathetic. Diana did more in her first year.

      • Citresse says:

I think Diana did more between the engagement announcement and the wedding!
As far as William’s comment re- George so spoiled, Diana would not be pleased.

  8. nicole says:

why can’t she wear regular pants. why jeggings all the time? they aren’t flattering on her despite her being so tall and thin. and these look rather worn don’t they?

    • dodgy says:

Those aren’t jeggings. They look like Zara denim (which are jeans done in a heavy, stretchy fabric). They’re pretty comfortable, and stretchy when you’re doing physical stuff. But yeah, they’re a slight too snug.

    • India Andrews says:

Agree with you Nicole. There is no need for us to see the outline of the royal biscuit through Kate’s jeans because they are so tight.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

They are unbelievably, wedgie giving, biscuit outlining horrors. They must be so uncomfortable.

  9. Barrett says:

Funny opposite of what she went for…. She got crazy hair bc no pony tail. Crazy cause even her pony tail would have been professionally done?

  10. India says:

She’s displaying her wares to Sir Ben.

    • hmmm says:

      Nailed it!

    • Canadian Becks says:

Like the way baboons signal their availability during courting rituals?

      • zinjojo says:

OMG, Canadian Becks. That’s the image in my head now.

Back in March when she had the event with Sir Ben, one of the royal blogs posted a bunch of photos of them together over a period of time — her body language is very open and flirtatious with him every single time they’re together. If I was his wife (who just had their daughter) I would be side-eyeing her on the regular.

  11. Sam says:

A lot of male athletes are not going as well. The virus can pass like a sexually transmitted disease, they can spread the disease to their offspring if they get it. the fact the Rio had the longest time to prepare for the games and they still haven’t finished construction is ridiculous the Australian Olympic team had to book hotel room for our athletes as the accommodation in the Olympic village was terrible.

    • Megan says:

What a mess. Zika, polluted water, political crisis, corruption … I am surprised more athletes have not dropped out.

    • notasugarhere says:

These three are not the ones who usually attend for the BRF anyway. They were “ambassadors” for the London games, but Anne is always the BRF representatives.

Clarification, Albert stated that Zika was why Charlene wasn’t going. Charlene didn’t say anything that I know of.

  12. littlemissnaughty says:

She looks fine. Yes, she’s very slim but I think we need to stop harping on her weight. She’s been skinny for years now and we don’t know if it’s intentional. She might like it, she might have some issues, we don’t know. So can we stop?

Now, the wedges we can talk about. WHY? She always looks really at home at sporty events though, which is nice. She should focus on these charities.

    • BearcatLawyer says:

WHY wear wedges to go sailing? That strikes me as pure vanity since she plainly had to change to sneakers when she was actually on the boat. And jeggings again??? Why is she seemingly so terrified of wearing a nice pair of regular jeans or pants?

      • notasugarhere says:

Why wear them to the beach? Or to walk through vineyards? Or to engage in sports with kids? Because she likes the illusion of longer legs they give her. Her vanity wins out every time.

Why not a nice pair of pants? Because she always has to have a sexual element to the way she dresses.

      • Vava says:

NOTA…………….you nailed it. She does always have to have a sexual element. Looser fitting trousers wouldn’t allow her to show off her rear end, crotch, and thighs. And she seems to love it that people comment on her low BMI.

The wedges are particularly ridiculous. She just looks like an absolute loony toon to me.

      • bluhare says:

She changed her shoes when they actually went on the boat. Don’t know why she didn’t wear them to start with.

      • Egla says:

She seems stuck with that style I think. See also her coat dresses, her lace dresses etc. She finds a particular style and stays with it. It’s he comfort zone Trust me, even with little money that I have I have some good pants that fit me like a glove and they aren’t even everyday pants but work related ones (I had them costume made just because ). She can if she wants too. Plus there are jeans and other kind of pants and skirts and whatever that would look good on her without making her look like…that. She lacks fantasy and courage I think.
As for her weight she wants to be that weight. Just hope she is strong and healthy for her sake. And she has no asssss. I mean with a little as everything looks good on you. I know

  13. PHAKSI says:

She looks ridiculous. I keep going back to the photo of her non-existant ass to see if thats an outline of her underwear Im seeing.

    • Olenna says:

She does look ridiculous. The tight pants and wedges just confirm, for me, that she has no innate fashion sense and that she doesn’t care if she looks a bit tacky as long as she can show off her body.

    • Tourmaline says:

Agree she looks terrible. She hit the terrible trifecta with the cray hair flying everywhere, ultra snug pants, and wedgies (both shoe and butt varieties).

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

My husband and I sail, and she looks like an idiot. Your hair can be dangerous if you leave it down and flying everywhere. There are all kinds of ways it can get caught in things and pulled out of your head by the roots. I wear my hair in a ponytail, with the ponytail going through the hole in the back of a baseball cap, then I tuck the ends under the strap of the hole so it doesn’t fly. And you have to move around, so skin tight pants are stupid and those shoes…omg. She just thinks she looks hot that way. There is no practical reason to dress like that for sailing.

      • Megan says:

Her hair was in a ponytail pulled though a baseball cap when she was on the boat.

      • notasugarhere says:

Then why the fashion show at arrival? Have you hair back, hat on, proper shoes on when you arrived. Instead of wasting everyone’s time redressing because you are so vain.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

It’s good that she changed for the boat, but why dress that way at all?

      • msthang says:

        All for Ben !!

  14. Guesting says:

I was also going to say. Please don’t scrutinize her weight. I have a 2 month old; soooooooooo many people scrutinize my weight. Even compliments burn me up. Why? Because I’m not asking for that sort of confidence boost, that’s not my focus right now. My body has gone through so many changes and I don’t need anyone judging it in any way. I’m 20 lbs over my goal but my milk is very low so I don’t want to endanger my supply at all with any sort of restricting diet.
I don’t CARE if her life is in the public eye, her body is her own. But if I were to guess, her size is probably 90% because of people like you commenting on it. Direct correlation.

    • cindyp says:

I’m sorry for your struggles but not seeing the correlation with Kate. Baby Charlotte is over a year old; Kate is not postpartum. By the way she dresses, she want to look skinny. That’s on her. Won’t comment on her weight but I will say that the wedges & hair flying all over the place look ridiculous. Take care of yourself

    • megs283 says:

I agree. Even people saying “you look great!” implies that they’re analyzing your body. I have a 6-month old. I’ve lost weight in the past three weeks…because they think she has a dairy allergy. No chocolate or butter for me. Personally, I’d rather eat the cookies and be back up 6 pounds. 🙂

      Congrats on your little one!

      • qwerty says:

Unless your baby is a calf, it’s pretty natural that she doesn’t tolerate milk.

    • Sarah says:

I’m sorry, she’s is in the public eye and lots of women comment on how great she looks!!! Her body is held up as a role model, and she has, in my opinion, a serious eating disorder. So, no – I won’t stop commenting. She is a terrible role model.

      • Cerys says:

Totally agree. Kate is seriously underweight and for her to be portrayed as a role model and fashion icon is ridiculous.

      • JustVisiting says:

Let’s also not ignore her previous and family linked stories go out of their way to talk about her exercise and diet. They shine a light on it all and bring it into the conversation when no one is talking about it. How Pippa is helping her with shakes. How Carole makes her low calorie snacks. How she’s gone all organic and her travel diet consists of salads with maybe some chicken and no croutons. We know this all because her team wants it out there. Which is pointless imo.

That said she has NO significant muscle mass for someone that is apparently working out daily to stay thin. Muscle mass happens when you work out and feed your body.
It’s nothing to do with having had a baby.
She is a public figure who should be aware of this.
And if she is struggling given her pr approach and her wardrobe she is making sure we discuss and notice her weight on the regular.

      • Mae says:

The thing is, many normal weight women look like Kate. She has a typical amount of muscle mass for a non-body building woman, because most women don’t show muscle like Serena Williams. I have tried to increase my muscle mass and it doesn’t really go past a certain point and just ends up being strength gains.

    • kaiko says:

I had the exact same problem with both my babies but I also had real struggles with milk production too. As soon as I started to lose weight, my milk would drop down and I’d have to bump calories up again or cut my workouts in half. It was infuriating and made me cry to not fit in any of my clothes, but you know what? I dealt with it so my sons could nurse. I drank mother’s milk tea, ate fruits/vegs/fat, took fenugreek capsules and long walks, and just concentrated on the lovely chubby arms and legs my milk was giving my little boys, not the ones hiding under my clothes. I don’t recall Kate nursing either of her children past the 6 month mark, if even that long with Charlotte, so there might be a correlation there. She has her priorities just like the rest of us, comment section be damned.

  15. HK9 says:

She looks good, but as a woman who loves wedges, those beige wedges need to go. I know she owns some black flats somewhere……

    • Vava says:

Some wedges are really cute, but the ones Kate picks out are all just plain UGLY. These in particular. I hate beige.

      • zinjojo says:

She really loves beige shoes, doesn’t she? I don’t mind a wedge, but these are fug.

      • Canadian Becks says:

I think she loves nude-tone or beige-coloured high heels because they do the best job in what high heels are supposed to do, namely to create an illusion of a longer & thus slimmer leg.

Any other colour would contrast with the skin and not be as effective in creating that elongated illusion.

      • JustVisiting says:

        Hooves

      • Liberty says:

Canadian Becks, I agree with you — it’s about the longer leg illusion. And with the jeggings, trying to get the bum lift from a heel, but a wedge to be “casual.”

  16. Adele Dazeem says:

It’s really shocking to me–and yes, I know, it’s been pointed out many times before–how ALIVE and happy she appears when sailing or doing things athletic (or better yet, what SHE likes) versus charity events or walkabouts. Does she have no poker face? Whether you’re a duchess or an accountant or a stay at home mom, life is full of obligations and expectations and we all go about them for the most part with an attempted smile on our face.

    • dodgy says:

I wish Kate would get involved with girs’s sports, or even push sport on her agenda, because she seems to love sports. Football (the sport that William is a patron of), is in a bit of a crisis here, in terms of say, 4G pitches constructed so that children can play all year round, or even weighing in on forcing the FA to make their coaching courses more accessible. She’d do a lot for woman’s football over here, which can always do with a bit of a lift.

      • HyacinthBucket says:

She isn’t into girl’s sports. They miss the “sexy hunk” factor.

      • Hazel says:

But she was interested when she was a schoolgirl–motivating more girls to get involved in sports would be a great platform for her.

    • Vava says:

She comes alive when there is a guy to flirt with. Plain and simple…………just like her.

  17. Lainey says:

Goes to a coastal area in wedges and hair flying everywhere. So smart is our Waity.
She seemed to spend hours there yesterday as well, by far her longest engagement this year.

  18. bread says:

I never noticed before but she has a very masculine frame – broad shoulders, no defined waist and basically no hips to speak of. I think that may make her appear skinnier.

    • LAK says:

She’s got the inverted triangle body shape. Charlene of Monaco and Elle Macpherson have the same body shape.

This type of body shape, and the rectangle are the preferred body types for models.

This body shape also tends to skinny limbs which is adds to impression that they are skinnier than average because they will never have thick legs or arms unless they tip over into obesity, but it’s the last place they gain weight.

  19. The Original Mia says:

She looks ridiculous. Those jeggings outline everything. I don’t want to see her thong outline or her pubic bone. It’s pure exhibitionism and it’s unbecoming of a senior royal. She’s spent more time at this rich man’s charity than she has at the others she patrons.

    • LAK says:

At least she’s wearing underwear. That’s a step in the right direction unlike other events when she’s flashed.

    • HH says:

Is she wearing a particular kind of skinny jean? I see women in skinny jeans ALL the time, and they look fine. Something about the way Kate wears them looks a little…”explicit” (???). I don’t know how to describe it and I don’t know if anyone else feels this way. I just always feel like I’m seeing too much/more than I should when she wears them. And it’s such an odd feeling because she’s entirely covered up.

      • The Original Mia says:

I get what you’re saying HH. It’s like we’re seeing how she looks naked because the material is molded to every curve or bump.

      • MinnFinn says:

+1 Skinny jeans that actually fit her would not have bothered me for this event. The problem I have is just what you said. These jegging (and all of her jeggings) are way too tight. They look like they are about 2 sizes too small for her.

      • La Ti Da says:

The material is a blend with a very strong stretchable spandex. And the previous commenter is right, we can see every hill and fjord because she is actually wearing ones that are too small. When you consider she is likely a 0, or even a 00, its a bit shocking.

Stretchy jeans are great if your body’s proportions are off like mine. My legs are disproportionately thin compared to my hips, so I like pants with some stretch. Otherwise I look like I’m wearing my boyfriend’s baggy jeans after a couple of hours. Unfortunately it seems like Kate wants her pants to mold very tightly everywhere and with such thin legs she chooses ones that are a size or two too small to achieve it. Since she’s fit/toned/skinny everywhere she can get away with it because she doesn’t have a muffin-top poking out the top.

  20. notasugarhere says:

Harry goes to AIDS 2016 and gives an inspiring speech. No mention in some outlets.

W&K go sailing? Good PR and praise.

(computer acting up, this may post multiple times)

    • LAK says:

      Yep.

      • Megan says:

Actually, Harry’s attendance at AIDS 2016 was carried by international news outlets. W+K’s sailing event was picked up by gossip outlets.

      • Melly says:

Harry tends to be covered on “legitimate” news outlets. I just saw a story about Harry on CNN talking about the death of his mother at a mental health charity event. The mental health charity is supposed to be supported by Harry, Will, and Kate, yet only Harry was there. I guess Will and Kate were too busy sailing. A couple days ago I saw a story on CNN International where Harry was taking an AIDS test and discussed the importance of getting tested, the advancements in treatment, etc.
Harry is the legit royal while Will and Kate are gossip fodder. Harry should be King. I just love him.

      • LAK says:

I agree with both of you, and i see alot of Harry’s stories on legit news, however i wish gossip news would carry his stories too.

    • Kitty says:

@Megan, is it true that majority wants Harry as King and not William?

    • Kitty says:

@Melly I think he will be King. Anything is possible!

  21. Starlight says:

It’s like she has an inferior complex regarding her height, she has to look tall by Wills. As for the hair and for that matter the large engagement ring you would think she would consider the challenges at these sort of events.

    • Jan says:

I really think she’s mega-aware of her legs which appear short compared to her long torso. The wedges of doom give the illusion of her having longer legs than she has. The problem is that she tends to wear them at illogical times (at the beach or while sailing) and the ones she wears tend to be really ugly. Also, those jeggings are completely indecent, and I’m no prude. No one needs to see the outline of her vulva, the two foot wide thigh gap or the sticks she calls legs. She’s obviously looking for Ainslie’s and everyone else’s attention because her sister has been in the news lately and she can’t have that. She’s ridiculous and a terrible role model for young girls. Since she’s on a royal engagement, this tacky outfit is hugely inappropriate IMO. I hope HM doesn’t have a stroke when she sees these photos!

      • La Ti Da says:

Ironically those leggings are the worst choice to elongate her legs, them make them look stumpy (which they truly aren’t). If she wore slim legged fitted pants with a hem that went further than her ankles her legs would look much longer. Even more so if she added sleek heels.

  22. Kitty says:

Does she always have to wear Diana’s ring at all times? I got to know why William proposed this ring to her when it symbolizes a lot of horrible things? What ring will Harry present to his future wife that can ever top that?

    • Vava says:

Any ring could top Diana’s ring……………….. Hopefully it will be a new ring with a fresh design and not anything with a past (unhappy) history.

      • Megan says:

Agreed. Big blue is hideous. William really needs to get her an alternative for daytime wear. A cocktail ring just looks silly before 8pm.

      • Kitty says:

Well I think Harry’s ring will top it!!! His royal wedding will top his brother!!!

  23. Georgia says:

I think Zika is a real concern for both male and female athletes. I understand why so many are opting out

  24. LucyHoneychurch says:

If it’s not polite to comment on someone who is overweight, why is it considered socially acceptable to do so when someone is slender or underweight? How about we just STOP talking about other women’s bodies like they are objects available for public consumption.

    • Sarah says:

Because she, seriously underweight, is held up as an ideal, which is horribly damaging to the 98% of woman and girls who aren’t that skinny because they actually eat. And people always mock overweight women. What world do you live in? I want yo go there!

      • Starkiller says:

FFS, she is not “seriously underweight” and describing her as such is damaging and insulting to those who are. In most countries, her “thinness” would be completely average and not worthy of comment. She is slim, as is considered healthy and normal in 99% of the world.

      • JustVisiting says:

        Star
Do you by chance live within a Ford modeling compound or a third world country? Because no. She is absolutely of the appearance near clinical thresholds of unhealthy if not there.
Absolutely. Her build was never this way naturally and we have seen her frame with muscle. Also, it’s too tough to ignore how she looks next to another woman of very similar frame and a thin, but healthy weight.
She’s extremely thin. There’s no twisting that.

    • notasugarhere says:

If she stopped making every work engagement about her personal appearance and her idea of what is considered sexually attractive, focus would be on the work not her skin-tight tights.

    • toni says:

No one mocks thin people, the society shows concern for them.
On the other hand overweight people are bullied and mocked.

      • LucyHoneychurch says:

Eh, people constantly speculate that she is anorexic and that there must be something wrong with her relationship that stresses her out and makes her so thin. It’s not “mocking” or ridiculing her but it would be hurtful to read just the same. Maybe she just has a thin body type and works out a lot. Who knows.

      • Nic919 says:

She didn’t look this thin when she was at university and looked healthy and slim then. Now she is so thin her face sags at 34 and her legs are half the size they were before she had kids. This is not her natural state, hence the speculation about the stress of her marriage. Besides, she is on record refusing to even take a bite of food when at one event in India it was made for her and Will to try. He tasted it and she did not. That is another sign of an unhealthy obsession with controlling calories. One bite of food would not have bothered someone with a healthy relationship with food.

There is a shot of her arms at this event and she has the grizzled look in them that Madonna has at almost 60. Both are signs of not enough body fat.

  25. Cerys says:

Faded jeggings, wedges, tiny t-shirt, hair everywhere and the ring of doom and she is ready for another hard day of work. She is really clueless about appropriate clothing for events or else she just doesn’t care.

Perhaps her other 5 charities should ask Ben Ainslie to be a patron and she might turn up for them occasionally.

    • Tourmaline says:

Yes maybe other patronages could try luring her to them with a life size Ben Ainslie cardboard cutout?

To some of the other posts, no It’s not body snarking on Kate to say puhleeze this outfit is fug and not too appropriate for the event. The thing is she slowly evolved at this event from hair down to hair partway up, then to a ponytail. And she eventually changed out of the wedges to trainers. Why the heck she could not have appeared in the ponytail and trainers from the start of the appearance is so weird to me. I conclude all is vanity to Kate and she feels the need to sex it up with hair everywhere and teetering on wedges. I think she’s insecure AF.

    • MinnFinn says:

She’s not clueless, she’s calculating and an exhibitionist. She chooses her clothes to advance her own personal agenda which usually means looking ‘sexy’ and nicotine chic (aka skinny) like the other aristos such as Jecca. And also she is dressed much more appropriately whenever Liz is present. Please note that I said appropriate which is not the same as fashionable.

    • Erinn says:

I don’t see an issue with the t-shirt. She’s tiny – her shirt fits her. It’s not like it’s stuck to her torso or anything.

The jeans don’t make a ton of sense – I get that they’re probably stretchy or something so she can move around – but if you’re doing that, why not grab a pair of workout pants?

      • Maia says:

A bigger size T shirt would have been more flattering. The skin tight shirt and the skin tight jeans make an unattractive combination.

  26. Adele Dazeem says:

I thought fashion types have been saying the jegging is over?

    • Megan says:

      Please let that be true.

      • Adele Dazeem says:

Lol it’s a fever dream of mine Megan! I’ve never found them flattering!

      • JustVisiting says:

        Jeggins forever!!!
I love mine for a tighter fit matched with a big sweater and higher boots.

      • Vava says:

I’m with JustVisiting. I like skinny jeans, bulky sweater, and awesome boots. But Kate takes it to a new (low) level and it’s tacky. I wouldn’t care if I saw someone wearing this around town, but they are not ‘senior’ royals on duty. Kate is just a show off and flirting with Sir Ben.

      • JustVisiting says:

        Vacation
Exactly. And the proper fit is not to look like you’ve been poured into them or to see a wedgie. Hers are much too small a size.
They have their place as an item of clothing. And this is not the place.

  27. Guesting says:

“To some of the other posts, no It’s not body snarking on Kate to say puhleeze this outfit is fug and not too appropriate for the event.”

I’m not commenting on the criticism of her style. I’m commenting on the criticism of her weight. Again, I don’t care if she’s a public figure, she’s a real person and it doesn’t matter if people hold her up to an ideal…that has to be addressed with females as a whole, what matters to me is that she’s – person that has her own issues just like everyone else and our easy commentary on it isn’t right.

    • notasugarhere says:

I do not think she is someone who suffers from an eating disorder. I think it is dangerous and incorrect to be forcing that diagnosis and “issue” on someone from photos alone.

    • MinnFinn says:

I respectfully disagree. We must continue to point out that she is too skinny. To not discuss it is unhealthy and dysfunctional. If we stop discussing it then it becomes the elephant in the room. We’ll end up like my grandmother’s era where important personal matters of health like eating disorders, depression etc. become taboo subjects. FYI, I don’t think she has an eating disorder. I do think she is under weight.

      • notasugarhere says:

MinnFinn I agree that she is underweight, I just don’t think it is an eating disorder either. KM is muscular and had no trouble lifting their son last week.

I think she, like Mary of Denmark, went through a deliberate weight loss for vanity. Both of them are at least 15 pounds under their body’s natural healthy weight. They work hard to keep that natural weight off. That they are seen as role models because they deliberately stay at an unhealthy low weight is not a good thing.

      • Maia says:

I dont think that Mary looks as thin as Kate. She definitely looks healthier. Less emaciated and gaunt. Her skin glows.

      • JustVisiting says:

        Nota
How she lifted George gave me pause. Her muscles flexed and looked minimal. Even for dense and functional muscle there were groups missing for support. Also, his weight was entirely supported on her hip. Which I get! Kids are heavy. But, because of this it’s not a good example of her strength. Just that she has enough muscle for some repetition in short bursts.

      • qwerty says:

MinnFinn, I take it you also speak up every time an obese person eats a candy as well? Cause you know, obesity is a MUCH bigger problem in the world right now, and the good of humanity is apparently what pushes you to criticise Kate?

      • notasugarhere says:

She wasn’t winded picking him up. She didn’t struggle under his weight. She is photographed in downtime playing with, lifting, and carrying him. I think those of you forcing an eating disorder diagnosis are going far too far.

  28. Melissae says:

Skinny shaming is the same as fat shaming. It hurts just the same. All humans battle with weight, if a woman is too skinny, she’s vilified, if she is too large, she is vilified. Stop commenting on weight. 🙁

Edit: In response to the constant comments that Duchess Kate is far to skinny.
I love you all. Have a glorious, positively lovely week everyone!!

  29. Vinot says:

All of my personal distaste for her aside, my working theory has been that Kate is actually very unwell and that is why she needs her mom in the house, is shrinking before our eyes, acts erratically and bizarrely at times and has to be handled with kid gloves. At some point I think the whole “mental health” front they’ve been putting up will be used in a narrative about how unwell she really is. I hope I’m wrong.

    • lisa says:

I agree. I think the whole mental health campaign is so she can access help under the radar — if she’s seen visiting a a professional they can say it’s to get information for her charity work. IMO, this woman is not well.

    • Natalie says:

I go back and forth on it. She could just be emotionally immature.

Kate devoting her life chasing after William and marrying into the royals seems to have left its mark on her but on the other hand we just might be seeing the results of over a decade of being spoiled and shallow with it being masked by being young. She was very thin during the 2007 breakup but she was also 25. Maybe she was always this way and we just didn’t notice because we mainly had pictures of her doing things she enjoyed like shopping and going to clubs. If we just stick to current pictures of her sailing or at Wimbledon, she’s glowing and looks fulfilled and very happy.

The Middletons have benefited enormously from Kate marrying William. I don’t think Pippa could have pulled off her engagement without the Windsor connection. So maybe Kate’s gotten a little full of herself and expects to be catered to by the rest of the Middletons.

  30. Canadian Becks says:

I highly doubt Kate feels “bullied” or “body-shamed” (God, I HATE that overly PC phrase).

I mean, none of us can know, but skin-tight pants when there are alternatives certainly suggests she WANTS to be noticed and commented upon. I suspect she views her weight loss as a viable accomplishment and she’s rather proud of it.

And I agree with GNAT that the only reason she’s wearing the 4″ wedges is for the illusion of longer legs. There really can be no other reason.

I also didn’t realize her shape was so slight in the hips until I saw this picture, taken earlier this year:

  31. thecookingpan says:

Oigh… I actually can’t with these two eejits anymore… Bad hair, bad make up, bad shoes and bad attitudes… So hard being a royal…

  32. Guesto says:

I’d love to do a survey on here as to who thinks she’s ‘dangerously skinny’ and ‘underfed’ and ‘a victim of some ED’, and who thinks she’s just slim because she likes being slim and, for lack of ongoing interest in anything workwise, invests her time in maintaining her slim frame so she has something to bring to the ‘work’ party when required.

And I’d like to break this survey down by country.

Because, to me, in London, she is slim and toned and not remotely underweight.

    • bluhare says:

I think she’s too thin but she is toned and I don’t think she has an eating disorder. I think she has the same issue that seems to strike just about every woman who comes into the public eye which is the way she looks in photographs and I do not think this is her natural weight. I think she looks much prettier when she has some more weight on her, but that’s my personal opinion. I usually don’t weigh in (ha!!) on whether someone’s too fat or too thin, but you did ask. And I live in the US but I’m British and I’ve always been slender.

      • Maia says:

Pretty much what bluhare said. I think she is toned and strong. Don’t know whether she is underweight or not. She has killer legs. But she could use more muscle on her shoulders and arms. I much prefer Pippa’s figure. I also don’t like Kate’s drawn gaunt face – there is a pallor that gives an unhealthy look about her. Her sunken cheeks and jowls are not flattering even though she has gorgeous bone structure. It seems to me that Kate has dieted away every ounce of fat in her body and it shows in her face. Pippa looks quite healthful and well-rested – someone who takes care of her body by nourishing it white testing it.
I am also slender myself but as I get older I am choosing my face over my behind, so I am around 7 pounds heavier than I was in my late twenties. Mid thirties now. I vary between a size 2 and 4. I live in the US as well.

      • JustVisiting says:

There’s barely any tone at all. What you’re seeing is lack of any fat. Not increased muscle. Many make this mistake as viewing the appearance of strength when it’s just the lack of anything else. Her arms in high Def images show it all.

      • notasugarhere says:

There is plenty of tone and her thighs viewed from any angle are slim but plenty toned and muscular. This is starting to feel like a lot of concern trolls.

      • JustVisiting says:

        Nota
Tone is the wrong word. It means nothing really. Tone is what we see for definition and that can happen in anyone who has mass or lacks fat. Kate lacks mass.

    • Hazel says:

Guesto: American here. I think Kate was a skinny & athletic kid, slim & athletic teen, slim & athletic 20-something, got thrust into the spotlight as Bluhare says, and became hyper-vigilant about food & exercise. She’s super slim & lean, but her muscle tone is good.

    • lisa says:

Posting from nyc. I don’t know if she has an eating disorder and I certainly see many women as thin or thinner than her. The only thing that gives off an unhealthy vibe is that her face sags.

    • Cerys says:

If you are underweight with a low BMI then you are underweight with a low BMI no matter where you live or how you are perceived by others.

  33. hogtowngooner says:

I hate to body-police but it’s quite jarring how thin she has become. I know we love to snark about her laziness and tone-deafness at times, but I really hope she is OK. You can have a awesome-looking life from the outside and be totally broken inside. If she is sick, I hope she takes her own advice about mental health and seeks help.

  34. Meow says:

Haggard af. Girl bye, eat something and cut back on the shitty wiglets.

  35. my3cents says:

In these pics she dresses like a teenager. Make that a preteen. Very unprofessional.
Her body is trying for teen but her face is looking 40 something…guess it’s the face versus arse dilemma.

  36. lisa says:

I’m confused by the first picture. Her upper arm is almost wider than her thigh.

  37. cindyp says:

    She has a wedgie!

  38. what's inside says:

I think she is very insecure and sticks to what she knows. Unfortunately for her, her body image is caught back in the 00s and has not adjusted for her reality. I also think that she will be thinning bones and losing whatever posture she has due to osteoporosis and smoking as she ages. What she really needs is to retire from public life as this is not for her. William probably would like to do it as well except for the whole future King thingie that he will never be let off the hook for as long as Grannie and Daddy live.

    • msthang says:

Inside, except for who is going to prop them UP??? Taxpayers are not having it !!

  39. ###stainless says:

She looks awful, mentally deranged with her hair flying about and that stick thin look is sickening she should stick to dying her hair black the brown doesn’t fit her
