Sofia Vergara on aging: ‘My knees are starting to look weird’

49 Celebrities honor 49 victims of Orlando attacks in 'Stop the Hate' video

Modern Family star Sofia Vergara just launched her third fragrance, Tempted, with a series of 7 videos. The Colombian bombshell released the first of the promotional videos this week, where she talks about what tempts her, and it’s pretty much sweets. The actress, who turned 44 last month, also talks about aging in another video in the series and apparently, it ain’t pretty. But I think we all kind of knew that. Here are some of the highlights:

On what tempts her: “My biggest temptation, the thing I can’t live without, for sure, is cake. I always have to have cake in my house. I try to only eat it from Friday to Sunday, but, of course, that doesn’t always work. I literally work out just so I can give in to the temptation and eat the cake. My workout motto is ‘No pain, no cake!’”

On being 44: “I think you’re a better person. You’re more mature, you know what you want, you know what’s important, and you don’t sweat the small stuff. I wish I had that knowledge in my 20s. “

On her least favorite thing about aging: “The way things are changing physically. I have to work out my legs more because my knees are starting to look weird.”

If my only problem with my appearance was weird-looking knees, I’d be happy as a clam. Sofia is gorgeous and gives me all kinds of #aginggoals. She’s also hard at work on the eighth season of Modern Family, posting pics from the set, including a cute one of co-stars Ed O’Neill and Jesse Tyler Ferguson on Instagram.

But I digress, back to the perfume. It’s Sofia’s latest after her other 2 forays into fragrance, Sofia and Love. On the Perfumania site, where you can pick up a bottle of your own, the scent, with hints of pineapple, vanilla, acai berry and Colombian Passion Flower (naturally), is described as a “floriental fruity fragrance” that is “intoxicating and seductive with an effortless femininity.” Yep, sounds like Sofia in a bottle. If I had a fragrance, it would be called “Lazy” and smell like dry shampoo and dryer sheets (when you don’t have the energy to wash your jeans, but toss ‘em around in the dryer for a few to freshen them up). I do actually need a new scent, and if Sofia’s stuff makes me “intoxicating” enough to land a man like Joe Manganiello, I’ll order a case of the stuff.

Apparently, perfume is just the tip of the iceberg as far as Sofia’s plans to expand her brand in the beauty industry. She recently told In Style, “Fragrance and beauty is something I’m really passionate about, so you will definitely see more of my footprint in that world.” I, personally, don’t buy a perfume because of whose name is on it, but I do like Sofia, so maybe I will be tempted to give the new scent a try. (See what I did there?)

I see what you did there! Clever.

For some weird reason I always thought she was older than 44. Not because she looks it, because she doesn’t look “older” (whatever that strange concept may entail) but maybe because whenever I read an interview she keeps on going on bout aging and being old. So it was a bit of a jolt to see she’s only 44. Maybe it’s the Hollywood bubble/attitude that make her feel aged when she’s not?

I think she’s very talented and very funny, but her looks have been a huge part of her career. It must be hard approaching an age which in Hollywood practically means invisibility.

      • Anahit says:

What you say is very, very true. I like her. But there’s an insecurity there, driven by Hollywood ageism, that does her a tremendous disservice. She’s gorgeous, talented and young. I wish she’d stop feeling/projecting Old Maid type thoughts, though, because they’ll catch up with her and people will start to believe them. Heck, even I thought she was older than she was and it was 100% to do with what she’s saying rather than how she’s looking/behaving/acting.

I feel as though she has been 44 for the last 4 years.

I can relate to her love of cake!

    I so dislike this woman.

I love watching MF marathons Friday nights on USA and I admit that she was not my favorite at all because I always thought they made a big deal out if her and I knew of her before she became famous in Hollywood, I think anyone from Miami knew about her because of the huge South American population. Anyway, she has grown on me and maybe it’s because of the show but one thing I have noticed is that the older she’s getting the heavier the make up on her is and I wish they would stop because it totally ages her, the over lip lining is too much

Is there a clause in Hollywood contracts that say actresses have to discuss certain subjects (i.e aging) when they are pass 35? Everyone just reiterates the same thing as if they were schooled on how to.

She is such a gorgeous woman! And being 37 and having learnt some hard lessons, I agree with her about wishing I knew in my 20s what I know now.

I love Ed O’Neil. Loos like he needs to lose a few pounds though. I want him to be healthy forever!

“if I had a fragrance it would be called ‘Lazy’ and smell like dry shampoo and dryer sheets” LOL!!! Same!! 😁

  11. NeoCleo says:

She and Manganiello look divine together.

  12. CuteC says:

I love Sofia. But more than her, I love Ed O’Neill. He reminds me so much of my grandfather, I get misty-eyed every time I see him. I should add, Ed’s from my hometown and he and my grandfather grew up in the same neighborhood on the Northside of Youngstown. He has the old school, working class attitude that I adore. It’s not like that there anymore, sadly.

I haven’t watched MF; I can only ever see her reading Jimmy Kimmel’s mean tweet about how her speaking voice sounds, and it never fails to crack me up. Mean Tweets #7. Too funny!!
