Shirtless Levi Johnston: Bristol Palin’s dad gave her a car to dump him

gqheader
Levi Johnston has an upcoming interview in GQ Magazine, and Radar Online has some of the advance details. Johnston, the ex fiance of Bristol Palin, says that the Palin family dislikes him so much that Bristol’s dad tried to bribe her with a new car on the condition that she dump him. Eventually Bristol dumped him for whatever reason, so her dad’s pleas may have worked:

Bristol Palin’s baby daddy is stripping down and opening up in the June issue of GQ. Levi Johnston, the 19-year-old father of Tripp, was shoved into the national spotlight during Sarah Palin’s run for vice president. The teen dad even poses shirtless, changing his infant son’s diaper, in the pages of the magazine.

While Bristol Palin has recently paired with young Hollywood’s Hayden Pannettiere to promote abstinence, Johnston calls the “just-say-no” approach to birth control “unrealistic” in the article. And he also has some harsh words for his ex-girlfriend’s family.

“I know that her parents didn’t want us together. I really don’t think they did,” Johnston told the magazine. “So they probably put a little pressure on her.” He even revealed that Todd Palin offered to buy his daughter a new car if she’d dump Johnston–numerous times.

At this point, Johnston says he doesn’t think he’ll ever get back together with his son’s mother, adding that visiting the Palins’ house “makes me pretty damn uncomfortable.”

[From Radar Online]

The NY Daily News has more details from Levi’s interview, including the fact that he no longer has any romantic feelings for Bristol.

The last we heard from Levi he was making the talkshow rounds in April talking about he was wronged by the Palins and barely got to see his son with Bristol. He claimed that Bristol’s mom, former Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin, knew her daughter was having sex with him and that he often stayed over their family’s house. Levi is rumored to be shopping a $1 million tell-all book, and at first I assumed that he must not be getting much interest in it if he’s appearing in GQ this month. It’s possible he gave this interview last month around the same time he did Larry King Live, though, and it’s just coming out now.

Are we going to see a book coming out from Levi soon, or is he going to eventually fade into obscurity? Sarah Palin got a multi-million dollar deal to publish her memoirs with Harper Collins and her book is set to come out in the Spring of next year. As Kaiser asked, will Levi Johnston book’s hit the stands around the same time, competing with Palin’s? There is plenty of interest in the Palin family and I bet that someone will bankroll Levi’s version of events. This interview and especially this photo spread featuring her grandson is sure to enrage Sarah Palin.

Um…”romantic feelings”? No, hon—those are called “hormones”.

  2. mel says:

I believe Sarah Palin used Levi for her own benefit and after the election was over she told Bristol to dump him. However, she cant keep him from seeing his child and that wouldnt look good for a grandmother who man run again in the 2012 election.

  3. Alexi says:

May be Todd Palin should have been more involved in his daughter’s life before she layed around and got knocked up. It seems wrong to try to break them up after the baby arrives. The baby is here now they need to get along for the baby.
I feel sorry for Levi because the Palin family used him like a tool. They threw him in the spot light to clean up their trashy daughter’s image. Now they are done with him and want to kick him to the curb.

  4. HEB says:

    MEDIA WHORE!!!!
The Palins are really going to make his life miserable now. Dumbass

  5. Lindsay says:

Those pictures are awful. I don’t understand why he would allow them to publish a picture of his son naked in a national magazine. You can see more of the pics at http://men.style.com/gq/features/slideshow/v/0609LEVI?loop=0&slideshowId=slideshow55980&iphoto=1&nphoto=8&play=false&cnt=1

At least his private investigator and lawyer/publicist dressed up for this mess.

  6. Wench. says:

Ha, Lindsay – I love that you find the idea abhorrent in one breath then publicise the pictures in another.

  7. Celebitchy says:

Thanks Lindsay I will add some of those

  8. Roma says:

Matching blue (is that velvet? please say it’s velvet) suits being worn by his private investigator and lawyer/publicist? Oh Lindsay, that link made my day.

  9. Bodhi says:

Wow, those two giant black dudes shure don’t stand out in Alaska I bet!

I like the one of Levi standing on a stump & holding the baby

  10. Sauronsarmy says:

LOL for a second there I thought that was the pregnant man/lady.

  11. TaylorB says:

    Lindsay,

A naked baby is a perfectly natural thing, it isn’t dirty or ‘awful’ it is fine, we are all born that way. And for a parent to want to hold their baby skin to skin is a beautiful thing, body to body touch is very important bonding for both the baby and the parent. As for the photos, well, parents tend to like to capture these moments, as they are fleeting. While I am not suggesting that Levi should be some sort of hero father, I am not sure why you had to take a loving moment with his son to such a dark place.

  12. Maria says:

That ratty family used Levi. They have no right keeping that baby from the father. I’ll bet they make Bristol get married to some man by the time Sara Palin runs in the next election or they will hire someone to pose in that position.
That whole family seems so fake and they are going to eat him alive.

  13. Eden says:

Considering he seems to be enjoying the media attention while bashing the Palin family, I question his credibility and intentions.

If the Palins are keeping him from seeing his son, then whose baby is in those pictures? HELLO!!! You people say the Palins used him….he’s making money left and right selling his story! Maybe the Palins thought he was using Bristol b/c he loved the perks and bragging rights of dating the Governor’s daughter.

I think a lot of the negative remarks about the Palins is based upon whether you’re a Democrat or Republican. Judging this situation based upon political affiliation is pathetic and ignorant.

  14. BOGART4017 says:

Hillbillies walk around topless with naked babies slung over their arms.

  15. HashBrowns says:

Dude…keep your shirt on. You are NOT hot enough to have your shirt off in a magazine that features such bodies as Ryan Reynolds’.

TaylorB: I don’t think Lindsay was saying that the fact that there was a naked baby in the pictures was awful. I think she said that the pictures are awful in general, which they are. They look like someone took them with a disposable camera.

But I also do not think a naked baby is a “beautiful thing”. It’s still a nude person, little or not. If I had kids, I’d keep them covered the heck up and wouldn’t want pictures of them nude, especially pictures of the penis, floating around where some pervert could get off to them.

  16. TaylorB says:

    HashBrowns,

I guess we will have to agree to disagree, I don’t see a naked baby as a bad thing or something to be leered at in a ‘dirty’ way, to me (and this is just my opinion) it is very natural and normal to photograph your child. There is no reason to sexualize a picture of a naked baby, it isn’t perverted or wrong, it is simply a documentation of the life of the innocent child. “In the beginning, innocence saw Adam and Eve naked in the garden. Genisis 2:25 “And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed”

As for the photos being ‘awful’ in the artistic sense, I am not a photographer or an art critic so I can not address that, so I will leave that up to someone else who is versed in that arena. Lord knows I wouldn’t be able to distiguish a digital from a Polaroid. So please excuse my ignorance on this subject. Mea Culpa.

I did not mean to offend you, but it does seem that we come from differing viewpoints on this issue.

  17. daisy424 says:

A naked baby may be a beautiful, natural thing to a normal person, but to a pedophile it’s porn.

Levi is a fame whore seeking $$ for dipping his stick without a condom.

  18. Ceenitall says:

TaylorB, although I agree with your assessment that it is natural and beneficial for a child to have skin to skin contact with a parent, and I have pictures of my child getting a diaper change, taking a bath, or just their cute little baby butt checks, I do not think that these pictures should be published. Unfortunately there are many people in the world who will take a picture like that and make it an ugly thing. Most people now days would know that it is not a good idea to put innocent nude pictures of their young children on the internet, or not to publish such pictures in a national magazine.

That is a sad thing to have to say, it really speaks volumes about the state of the world we are living in

  19. IvyMades says:

I don’t think they should have published the naked baby pictures. I have a feeling Tripp is gonna be mortified twice over when he’s older:

1- For the naked baby pictures
    2- For being named TRIPP

    It’s really sad, but I think he’s really hot…. 🙁

  20. Lindsay says:

Wench – Yeah that is a little funny. But my comment made no sense without the link. Hashbrowns was right, the word “abhorrent” is a little strong. I just think the photographs are horribly taken (like Hashbrowns said they could have been taken with a disposable camera. Not what you would expect from GQ)

Taylor B – Sorry it wasn’t clear, I think the quality of the pictures are awful. But I have seen people create problems for themselves after taking pictures of their child in the bath tub or running around naked and posting them on MySpace or Facebook. The last think this kid needs is to give the Palins more ammo to keep him from seeing his son. Also, when Tripp gets older it may be embarrassing for him (which was my first thought, nothing dark or dirty). People cringe when their parents inevitably get out the book of naked baby pictures, but his will be on the internet for all to see.

Ceenital – I think there are much better examples of our decline as a society. I think this is a better example that paparazzi, Twitter, ect have blurred the line of what should be kept private. Photos that intimate(like the examples you gave) should be kept within the family. I have taken pictures of my nephew in the bath tub and what not. I would never post them or allow them to be published in a national magazine.

  21. Eden says:

I agree with Eden. If the Palins are keeping him from seeing his son, Tripp, then why are there so many pictures of him with Tripp?

And in the pics, he’s smiling and so is his sister. They don’t look upset or angry, they seem happy to have the cameras take their pictures. WTF?

It seems like he’s trying to CASH in on getting the Governor’s daughter pregnant. What a nice respectful guy. He goes on tv to talk about having sex with the Mother of his child only b/c she’s the Governor’s daughter. Oh, yes, he’s a winner. Would you praise him if he was talking about your daughter, sister or loved one?

He’s sick and money hungry. He wants to insult the Palins and use his son to make money. Why are you people so BLIND. Look at the pics!!!!!!!!!! He is with his SON!!!!!!!!!

  22. Wresa says:

It’s funny how during the election, McCain said Obama was too much of a celebrity, but after the election his running mate and her family became regular tabloid fodder. Silly, McCain. Tricks are for kids.

  23. Jag says:

There are girls who have been charged with promoting kiddie porn by putting semi- and nude photos of themselves on places like Myspace – because they’re underage. But it’s perfectly acceptable to publish frontal baby nudity like that? I’ll never understand our legal system.

  24. Lindsay says:

Eden – did you just post that you agreed with yourself? And of course they are happy the cameras are there, despite their appearance they were invited to shoot a photo spread. I also don’t see a lot of praise in the comments or the article. But it does seem to refute his claim that he can never see his child alone.

Wresa – we hear every little detail about Obama and his wife (they are publishing a book about every outfit she wore during the first hundred days.) They have been more of a celebrity throughout this. This isn’t just from him being President, it started before the election and Bush never got this much press on mundane details of his life. The Palin’s story wouldn’t have continued post-election if there wasn’t so much low class drama. The Jon and Kate mess is proof the public like to watch the train wrecks. Hopefully if McCain knew the circus the Palins’ lives were about to become he would have chosen differently.

  25. DrB3 says:

Jag, Your comment made my skin crawl. “Frontal baby nudity”?!! Are you kidding? If you cannot understand the difference between a legal system that’s attempting to dissuade underage kids from disseminating nude photos and a nude baby boy…well, YOU might be one of the 1% who we need to worry about seeing babies nude.

The DA’s concern is primarily to prevent those teens from being exploited THEMSELVES. Even if that means that they may need to make an example of one of them first to do so.

  26. Nesa says:

I think the Palin family used LJ to. They could not stand on stage across the country with a pregnant daughter.

  27. Paulette says:

“Dude…keep your shirt on. You are NOT hot enough to have your shirt off in a magazine…”

    Amen to that.

I couldn’t care less about a naked infant, doesn’t everyone have a family album with naked baby pictures? That said, these photos look like the boring snapshots that DON’T make it into the album.

  28. Linda says:

Lindsay – No Eden didn’t reply to herself, that’s actually my middle name.

Anyway, you call that a photo spread? Those are pictures taken by a friend/family member….. how uneducated are you? Have you ever opened a magazine and seen a photo spread like that???!!!! Next time you leave your double wide to grab a 6 pack, sneak a look at GQ and educate yourself.

Oh, two things. The only reason the media is sucking up to Obama is b/c he’s black, that’s the truth and we ALL know it. Second, I have a feeling Obama also regrets his decision in VP Joe Biden.

  29. Annabelle says:

Um seriously – who would be embarrassed by their baby photos?? SERIOUSLY!! Its just a body, at that age we all looked the same. When I look at pics of myself as a baby, I feel like its not even me, cos I am so different now as to how I was when I was a baby. So why would you be embarrassed?

Question – if you see a naked adult, do you immediately think of it as porn?? No. It all depends on the context. Now I’m no pedophile, but I would assume that its the same for them… just seeing a naked baby (esp with its father in the pics too) isn’t necessarily gonna make them whip off their pants and flop it out and start jackin right!?!?!?!?!?!?!

People sometimes use the same argument against gay people – they think just because you are gay, you must be attracted to every boy (or girl) that you see. But it doesn’t actually work that way.

    As I said, I’m not a pedophile, so I don’t know… i’m just guessing.

IN terms of these photos I don’t really understand what there is to be embarrassed about.

  30. daisy424 says:

@Annabell, your comment must be the most inane/ignorant statement I have ever read about pedophiles.

The youngest rape victim on record is 10 month old.

    ” As I said, I’m not a pedophile, so I don’t know…”

You’re right, you don’t know. Don’t make statements you know Jack Shit about.

Regarding the car offer; Todd should have upped the ante. I would gladly done the same thing with my daughter.

@Wresa,”…but after the election his running mate and her family became regular tabloid fodder”.

The reason is obvious; Far left Liberal groups & websites keep digging for ANY negative news on this family for a simple reason; Smearing and trying to discredit Sarah Palin.

Why has this site turned into the DailyKOS?

  31. j. ferber says:

I’m not offended that the baby isn’t dressed, but that he’s dressed in what look like combat fatigues in that middle picture, as if he were being deployed to Iraq after the photo shoot. And Linda, maybe the media is all over Obama because he’s our president and not because he’s black? Just a thought. Also, Daisy424, Palin doesn’t need “far left liberal groups” “discrediting” her when she does the job so well herself. I do agree with you that Bristol’s dad should have upped the ante. I would have offered her a house and a trip to Las Vegas.

  32. Yaya Rave says:

Levi is so clueless… He knocks Bristol up and then wonders why the Palins hate him so much? What an idiot… her parents were simply watching out for their daughter and trying to AVOID exactly what happened. Now he uses their animosity to his advantage to make himself look like the victim. Bristol and Tripp are… NOT Levi! If he were a REAL MAN and really CARED, he would not let anything in the way of him fulfilling his responsibilities as a father and husband. But apparently, he’s only man enough to become a father, and not a HUSBAND. How convenient!

  33. Codzilla says:

I just wanted to weigh in on the “naked baby photos” debate: When our oldest son was only three days old, my husband took photos of me bathing him for the first time. He then put the photos up on Flickr for friends and family to see, but didn’t think to block the general public from also viewing the photos. Within a week, the photo of our little boy naked in the tub had received HUNDREDS of views, while our other photos were usually in the twenty-view range. Horrified, he took the photo down immediately, and we both felt nauseous thinking that there might possibly be some sick bastards who were turned on by the sight of our little boy getting his first bath.

Please know that I’m not claiming that taking innocent photos of our children in the buff is a bad thing. It’s just that our particular experience was a nasty reminder that making said photos available to the public can be dangerous.

  34. SRR says:

…Bristol Palin has recently paired with young Hollywood’s Hayden Pannettiere to promote abstinence… Hello?! Is this the same teen aged Hayden Pannettiere who was screwing a thirty-something year old man for over a year? GIVE ME A BREAK!
