Taylor Swift will likely perform at the College Football National Championship

Taylor Swift celebrated her bffs wedding at Martha's Vineyard

Taylor Swift is still everywhere, but I appreciate the fact that she let her second single drop without a lot of back-and-forth from “unnamed sources” to various outlets. It probably helps that her second single, “…Ready For It?” is not about Kanye West or Kim Kardashian. It probably helps that RFI is actually a better song than “Look What You Made Me Do.” Hilariously, Vulture’s music critic Frank Guan points out there are significant similarities between Taylor’s RFI and… Kanye West’s Yeezus. Which is amazing. And if RFI seems more radio-friendly and just, like, a better song, it’s because it was produced by super-producers Max Martin, Ali Payami and Shellback. It also seems like Taylor was also homage-ing the crap out of Sleigh Bells.

Many of you have been analyzing the lyrics and wondering which current or former boyfriend she’s singing about. Some said Harry Styles, some said Joe Alwyn, but am I the only who wondered if this was the long-awaited song about poor Conor Kennedy, the high schooler that Taylor had to sign out of prep school so they could go on dates? But in reality, Taylor wants us to know that it’s about Joe. She’s been “liking” theories on Tumblr about how this song is about Joe. So now you know.

Meanwhile, Taylor is maybe-probably going to perform at the College Football National Championship in Atlanta, Georgia?

Taylor Swift is gearing up for a huge performance. A source tells ET that the 27-year-old singer will be performing at the College Football National Championship in Atlanta, Georgia, which is set to take place on Jan. 8, 2018.

“She will headline a concert in Centennial Olympic Park during halftime of the game,” the source says. “It will be a free concert. ESPN has her booked for the event and has a massive deal to release new music from [her upcoming album] Reputation through its college football coverage this season.”

According to the source, Swift can’t perform at the Super Bowl halftime because she has an endorsement deal with Coke, and the Super Bowl is sponsored by Pepsi.

“Taylor’s sponsors (UPS and AT&T) are two of the biggest NCAA Football advertisers on ESPN,” the source notes. However, ESPN tell ET that reports of Swift performing at the College Football Playoff National Championship are “inaccurate.”

“We are pleased that Taylor chose ESPN and ABC’s college football coverage as a platform to debut her new song ‘…Ready For It?’ however, there is nothing more to announce at this time,” ESPN said in a statement.

I think the back-and-forth between ET and ESPN is really just about how far away this is – I mean, January is months from now, and hopefully many indictments and impeachments from now. I don’t know what I’m going to be doing in January (Golden Globes/impeachment coverage?), but this sounds more like a “sure, I’d love to perform there but I’ll wait to give you a hard confirmation when the date is closer.”

I love her hair lately. That is all.

  2. Aims says:

I swear , I just want this Swifty explosion over with . I can’t stand her music , I think her personality sucks and I find it super obnoxious that she’s a 27 year old woman who is stuck at 16. I think she’s petty, has zero humor and to top it all off she uses people as a prop for her own benefit . She’s absolutely not someone I listen to, she is 100% responsible for her drama. I just want her to go away .

  3. Lama Bean says:

Dear God why???? Make this foolishness stop.

  4. Phaedra says:

God I love her so much! I can’t wait for the new album.
I’m 33 so way too old to be a fan , but I have been one since the beginning.
I can see that she has done some problematic things but the crap she gets is too much sometimes.
I’ve met her once after her concert and she was so nice (though it’s not that hard to be nice for a few minutes I know ) but she took the time to talk to everyone there .

Pardon my football ignorance but is this championship for the SEC, ACC, or both? My college is in the ACC and apparently we have a good chance of making it Idek. I do know that if it’s both Taylor will have invaded every part of my life smh.

That being said I can see why she might do this. The female fans who go to the games are her demographic (the men won’t care which way or the other besides thinking “Oh she looks hot”) contrary to popular belief. I do think some of the hesitation on ESPN’s part though might be to see how well the album does before signing on.

She will find a way to do the Super Bowl if this goes well eventually which ugh 🙄.

    • Goats on the Roof says:

Two schools from different conferences will compete against each other for the national title. Last year, it was an ACC school (Clemson) vs an SEC school (Alabama), but there are several conferences besides those two. Who ultimately ends up playing for the championship is subject to season rankings and outcome of the playoffs.

  6. Scout says:

If that song is about Joe Alwyn then I’m sad for Taylor because YIKES at that spoiled milk being the source of your ~passion.

    • KLO says:

I think its about Conor actually. But shell never admit it.

      • Karla says:

I think she actually never cared at all about Conor and only dated him until Harry Styles decided to give their fling another go. I think it’s about Harry because of the “ghost” reference

  7. She wants a Super Bowl performance so bad she can’t stand it. That’s what all of this is about. Katy Perry has performed at the Super Bowl and remember when several performers submitted anthem type songs for the Olympics and they chose Katy’s?

She is campaigning for a Super Bowl performance.

    • KLO says:

Why not. Maybe she will put up a good show.

    • Phaedra says:

Doubt it, super bowl is sponsored by Pepsi and she is sponsored by Coke. So I don’t think she wants it too bad.

      • Originaltessa says:

I think this is probably closer to the truth. She can’t do the Super Bowl because of her affiliation with Coke. She may want to, but it’s likely in her contract that she can’t.

    • CFY says:

That was my thought too. There was a blind item in 2015 that she wanted to do the Super Bowl halftime show but didn’t have an anthem ready-made for a sports audience, and was also just starting the 1989 World Tour, and something like the Super Bowl takes months of rehearsals and preparation, so we should watch for her next round of music. Though with the selection of Coldplay and Gaga in the last two years, I’m not sure that criteria still stands?

    • WeAreAllMadeOfStars says:

Bingo. If she can’t get the Superbowl she’ll inundate the college football circuit. If she can’t be a supermodel she’ll prance around with some.

  9. Beatrix says:

OK, can we all just admit to ourselves that this woman is NOT dating this “Joe” person? Everything continues to be fake. Also, notice the oversized clothing she’s worn on the latest video(s), are we all just going to pretend that anything about her is real this time?

  10. JWSWJ says:

Sales are down at the concession stands and they are trying to make fans flee in horror and go buy alcohol – lots of alcohol.

  11. Lightpurple says:

WARNING!!! Her giant face is plastered on the sides of UPS trucks! The apocalypse is nigh! Run for your very lives!

  12. Abby_J says:

They are already using Look What You Made Me Do as they go to commercials and come back from them in college football on TV.

I reiterate what I said yesterday. College football ought to stay away from that particular song, but I sure as heck hope the NFL does. A sport that has a reputation for some of it’s players abusing people probably shouldn’t use an anthem that sounds like it was written for bullies and abusers, no matter how Taylor actually meant the song.

  13. Feedmechips says:

All I can hear from her new music is an attempt to rip off Kesha’s sound.
