Reality star Stassi Schroeder thinks it’s cool to refer to her style as ‘Nazi Chic’

Daily Mail TV Unwrap The Holidays party - Arrivals

I still have no idea who Stassi Schroeder is. If you’re like me, the simple explanation of “she’s a D-list reality star on Vanderpump Rules” will suffice. I also know her because I’ve covered her once before, around Thanksgiving, when she was caught up in a controversy involving the #MeToo movement. She has a podcast – why? – and she used that podcast to mock abuse and assault victims and wonder, out loud, if those women were on a “male witch hunt.” Well, here’s the latest controversy. Stassi – whose name is probably pronounced like “Stacy” but I keep calling her “Sta-ZEE” – decided to post this to an Instagram story.

She later deleted this IG Story and replaced it with the same video and new captions. People are mad about “Nazi Chic,” which I can understand, but can we also take a moment to recognize that “Criminal Chic” and “Tupac Chic” are also pretty f–king offensive? As for Nazi Chic Sta-ZEE, she tried to play it off like she was just making a silly joke and everyone was overreacting. People are still mad, and now there’s a #FireStassi movement afoot. Which makes me sad. It’s sad that people watch Vanderpump Rules and care about the cast members enough to want one of them fired. But sure, fire Madame Nazi Chic. It would be a remarkable thing if 2018 became the year that we, as a society, stopped f–king normalizing Nazis and Nazi sh-t.

Are those initials on her bag SS?
She can go to the penitence cave that Dani I-take -photos- of -old -ladies harpy went to.

  2. Una says:

I have to admit the phrase “Nazi Chic” made me laugh. Other than that WTF?! How the hell they thought this was a good idea?! Lastly, there are way too many reality stars in this country.

    • Milla says:

When I was growing up, which was 30 yrs ago, stories about the Nazis were the absolute horror. I’d never joke about it. I’d never use it in any way, it’s one of the darkest times in European history.

I don’t know this idiot. But i see that younger generations are out of control. Like selfies at camps. And Nazi chic apparently.

      • Una says:

Are you European Milla? Because maybe because we were more isolated from Nazi horror in Europe, some older people do joke casually about it. My roommate in college was a German student and she was shocked by how much our politicians accuse each other of being like Hitler.

      • Milla says:

My grandparents were in a war. And my uncle was in Auschwitz. I am serbo-croatian, and since it divided the country, we never joked about it. I still cannot compare anyone to furer. And he was also Serbophobic, so yeah, i grew up being scared of the nazis depiste that i was born in the 80s.

      • Lady D says:

It was the same for us growing up in Canada. Nobody joked about the Nazis. People became quiet and respectful when Nazi atrocities were mentioned. Now this brain-dead excuse for the future is making jokes about it for attention.

      • Norman Bates' Mother says:

It also depends on the sense of humour and the way people cope with tragedies. I’m Polish, so we were right in the center of the biggest Nazi horrors, but we have a saying here that the laughter is the best medicine and Polish way of dealing with horrible things is often through humour (and, to generalize, our sense of humour tends to be pretty dark), so already in the 60’s we had comedies about the war in our cinemas and there are several productions similar to the British show, Allo, Allo – nothing offensive like stupid behavior from this thirsty moron, of course, but jokes about the resistance making fools of the Nazis and Soviets, and some absurd stuff. My great-aunt’s fiance died in Auschwitz, but she loved Allo, Allo. She would also be offended by what this person is doing.

  3. Who ARE These People? says:

What else can we expect from someone whose name is nearly that of the East German secret police? (the Stasi)

    • BearcatLawyer says:

She clearly has no clue about the Stasi and their sordid history, not to mention the horrors of Nazism. Sadly she probably will suffer few, if any, consequences for her so-called “joke.”

If there is ANY silver lining to the election of Emperor Baby Fists, it is that people like this are advertising their hatred, racism, and stupidity more openly. At least now I know whom to avoid and do not have to wonder about their real feelings.

I am an American Jew/went to Hebrew school the whole thing. They showed us some of the original footage from the camps as well as went into major details. This is at age…7 or younger and it was “never forget”. I still can’t unsee or couldn’t forget if I tried. My fam’s historical origins are Russia/Poland/E. Europe and I love the crazy style of humor in E. Europe. If Polish people use humor in any way, I know what they went through and they get a pass. Anyone else – like that Seinfeld “soup nazi” thing really bothered me. It kinda gave way to people saying using it totally out of context. People can behave badly/say dumb stuff all day long, but use “nazi” out of context in front of me, and I’ll call it out.

I’m not naive that it’s human behavior to want to belong/be accepted etc but the neo-nazi thing in the US, I’m like do you *know* what really happened?! Ugh.

I am also an unabashed fan of Real Housewives (I know, judge away! 😉 and Vanderpump Rules and Stassi are as trashy as it gets.

  4. Miss Kittles says:

No her name is pronounced Sta-Zee! I rarely take these low end reality stars seriously but she’s a real shitbag. So entitled & rude! I don’t think she does it for TV, I think it’s her true self. I dont know why they brought her back. She’s ugly inside

  5. B says:

The initials on her bag stand for her first and last name.

    • Who ARE These People? says:

How fortunate to coincide with the SS. Why is she calling herself Nazi Chic then?

  6. TassiDidIt says:

    Who?

  7. Amy Tennant says:

She changed it later to “Elsa– Indiana Jones Chic” which is… so much really the same thing, but wouldn’t have gotten her any attention. (I mean, I adore the third Indiana Jones movie, but it’s probably a deep cut where her audience is concerned).

  8. Dr. Mrs. The Monarch says:

I believe it is spelled “Nazi Chick”. Fixed it! She is probably too vapid to grasp the insult of pairing “Nazi” with the French “chic”, maybe she thinks she sounds classy with her fancy European words. Someone should dare her to name any future child “L’ane Riche”.

  9. thaliasghost says:

I’d so love somebody to publicly engage in coversation with her about any serious topic – and watch her stumble and then leave the stage/interview. Please!

  10. Andrea says:

Stassi is dim (if you watch the show you will know what I mean). I also want to say as an American, don’t be a nazi was a common saying I heard growing up (I am 36).

    • Nello says:

“Don’t be a Nazi” is a negative remark, like Seinfeld’s Soup Nazi. It is an insult. “Nazi Chic” is saying that being a Nazi is a good thing. Stassi is an asshole. She still doesn’t get how awful this is judging by her Indiana Jones comment. Also, her real first name is Nastassia so shouldn’t her initials be NS?? The SS means something else.

  11. Littlestar says:

I read her name as “st-ASS-i”

  12. KatC says:

She seems like a tool, but I don’t really see how this is much different from someone joking that they are a ‘grammar nazi’ or other very common usage. If this has been judged as massively offensive (in the US) then it’s only been very recently. (Current political climate has likely made these jokes no longer okay)

Not a fan of hers (this is the first I’ve ever seen/heard of her) but I could see someone making a comment like this without intending to give offence. That said, it sounds like she’s trouble more for her comments on the #metoo movement.

    • SJhere says:

I’m just going to say that after reading this item and comments…This doofus should be taken off the air and made to do a proper job. Cancel all the realty shows = fine with me.
I watched one show of the Kardashians…I think I lasted 10-15 minutes.

These realty shows are just full of uneducated idiots.

I’ve cut back to basic cable because why listen to garbage such as this?

I find the sound of my dog snoring more interesting.
