Meghan & Harry credentialed ‘unprecedented’ number of media for their Ireland trip

100th anniversary of the Royal Air Force

I forgot that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are headed to Ireland TODAY. For some reason, I thought their trip was happening later this week. I actually thought to myself yesterday that perhaps Meghan would end up attending Serena Williams’ quarterfinal at Wimbledon today, but alas, she will not be there. Maybe if Serena makes it to the final?

Anyway, this is just a preview of coming attractions. Meghan and Harry fly to Dublin momentarily, and it will be their first official overseas trip as a married couple. I say “official” because we still don’t know where they went on their honeymoon, but presumably it was overseas. This trip is part of the younger royals’ “Brexit ambassadorship,” where they’re reinforcing European relationships for trade and diplomacy. They’ll be meeting the Irish prime minister and president, they’ll visit Croke Park and Trinity College Dublin and… DogPatch Labs. You can read more about their visit here.

We should have a lot of photos and coverage to read about this two-day trip because of this too:

This will be interesting in the years to come. Meghan is being attacked and nitpicked by the British media especially, but she’s still a Hollywood actress – she knows how to work with the media. She knows the answer to that kind of overzealous criticism is to actually give the press more access. That’s the complete opposite of how the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge handle the press.

Oh fun! I cant wait to start seeing some pictures of this trip.

      I agree!
It’s a huge change/welcome to include the Brit media.

Duchess Sussex is Regal Elegance! More elegant wear like this and at the Christening Princess Henry Sussex.

HM POW The Firm seem very please with Princess Henry Sussex – note her placing on BP Balcony – which seem less about ‘confidence’. Shows more and to take dolittle middleton a notch down (with lazy and some hate relationship with POW DoC and the Royals) – compare to the warm close relationship that seem to exist with P/Pss Henry Sussexs. See the video with DoCornwall pause to walk and chat with the Sussexs’ while exiting Church -a warm family of ‘four’ at the Christening! Well done Princess Meghan – keep up the great unity and work.

    Can’t wait!

  3. Croatian says:

The more I look at this dress, the more I dislike it. It’s just so black and somehow an ugly black material.

  4. Christine WIlkinson says:

It’s a very smart move – give the press what they want (more access) and they tend to be more positive in their factual reporting. Also they like Harry anyway so if they see him enjoying his days with Duchess Meghan, that can’t be bad, right?

    • Milla says:

Wrong. The press can make a story out of everything.
I had assignments to create a story about a lamp. It’s journalist school not creative writing. So if i can write four pages about a lamp, trust me anyone can create a scandal. But then again, she knew all that and married him, at least Kate had many years to adapt and to decide if she’s able to handle it.

    • Ardnamurchan says:

I’d have thought the number of press credentialed is simply a matter of how many applied for credentials.
It’s not normal for the Palace or Foreign Office to restrict press numbers unless there’s logistical issues, like specialised transport to a remote location, or an embargoed trip into a military zone.
If credentials are up, its because everyone wants to cover the new royal stars.

  5. Sash says:

These two are made for the cameras, can’t wait to see the pics!

    • Astrid says:

      +1

    • royalSparkle says:

      +1000
Cant wait- especially now she has totally gone ‘Regal’ – hat, gloves and all – Just Fabulous 2x!

i wish they would stop the nonsense ‘fab four’ – there is only ‘TWO’.
Hard to beiieve the Wales brides are the same age – at the Christening waity middleton again seem so old, than her age.

  6. CurlyWurly says:

She looks beautiful. I like them both. I feel sorry for her already, no matter what she does, people pick, pick, pick. I would LOVE the life free from money worries but I don’t want Meghan’s life at all. At all.

  7. chrissyms says:

She looks great to me. I can’t wait for pictures of Ireland. I am on bump watch lol.

    • chrissyms says:

also Harry looks stressed to me the last couple of appearances. I am fan fictioning that he is stressed about all the negativity being thrown MM’s way by the press.

      • perplexed says:

Maybe he’s stressed out by her dad! I have nothing to do with either of them, and I’m stressed out by her dad.

    • Jan90067 says:

I don’t think she’ll be pregnant before the fall tour/Invictus Games. Isn’t there still a Zika watch in some of the places she’ll be?

  8. OriginalLala says:

I have to say I am a bit jealous of her small bust and long delicate neck…I have ginormous cans and a short neck and I’ve always wished I could pull off these Hepburn style looks *sigh*

    • Astrid says:

I’m with you sister…and lets not forget my thick waist on top of the other flaws. Oh to be so delicate

    • Masamf says:

Meghan Markle is beautiful woman. Harry definitely married up in the looks department, he is a very lucky guy. And Harry has the best killer swagger of all the Windsor men, Meghan is a very lucky gal. 🙂

      • Elsie says:

Masamf, she is not only beautiful, she is educated and articulated. That was her third trip to Ireland. During his speech The prime minister praised her work with One Young Leader Summit in 2014 in Dublin Indeed, Harry married up.

  9. Rapunzel says:

Daily fail is complaining again about her “faux pas” of crossing her legs this morning. I’m not quite sure how well Megan will ever do against the media

    • themummy says:

It’s absurd. Camilla crosses her legs ALLLLL the time and the Queen even does it from time to time, like in her recent documentary. People are just looking for things to criticize when it comes to Meghan.

    • Mia says:

someone post a photo of Kate’s dress blowing up on twitter. they mentioned as soon as Meghan does this, let’s talk. I’m not surprised at the nitpicking. She’s American and mixed. Weren’t the press vicious to the Princess Royal for years? If Meghan works hard and keeps her head down, she’ll be fine…10 years from now

  10. AG-UK says:

why why so many hats… I didn’t read where they were maybe a church but good Lord.. no pun intended. I’d wear that dress my type of look but NO hat/stockings or tan shoes I have big feet no way.

  11. TheOriginalMia says:

They should promote what they are doing. Their tours are their bread & butter. This keeps them relevant in the conversation. Meghan and Harry are the new golden couple. Flaunt them!

  12. Keira says:

This dress is growing on me but the shoes are detracting from the look. I so wish the BRF women would up their shoe game!!!! Check out Denmark and Spain RF ladies!

  13. Susanne says:

I think she looks amazing, hat to nude pump. I know the nude pump is a bit passe for some, but I like the effect, and not being so matchy.
What I really love is how much ‘work’ they’re doing. I put it in quotes because I have a different idea of what work is, but they are showing up a lot. I just know if I had that kind of power and resources, I would be philanthropizing my a $$ all over the place, all the time.
Hope they do good work. I think they’ll make great global ambassadors.

  14. violet says:

As this is their first foreign visit representing Britain as a married couple, the extra media exposure makes sense – they need to nail this as part of their public working identity, and to do that you need the media.

I don’t see the media generally nitpicking at her, mostly the headlines are “Duchess of Sussex STUNS in . . .”

The DM is another matter, they hate her and always will. But the rest only have nice things to say about her, such as the TIMES and the TELEGRAPH and the STANDARD (I just started reading the Standard, it seems somewhere between the DM and the TIMES – British posters can weigh in on that if they care to – I can’t quite figure out if it is liberal or semi-conservative, which I know mean different things in the UK).

    • Tina says:

The Standard has traditionally been moderately conservative, supporting New Labour and Cameron’s Conservatives. I wouldn’t call it liberal. Now, of course, it stands for nothing at all and sells favourable coverage to the likes of Uber.

    • perplexed says:

I saw some flattering headlines today from the Daily Mail about her — something about her looking confident. I don’t know if they’re always negative.

  15. Danielle says:

I’m going to be in Dublin tomorrow, hoping to catch a glimpse of them!!!

  16. Mego says:

Love the “bring it on” attitude toward the press. Perhaps it’s an ajustment for Harry because I am sure he is very insecure around media attention. First with Diana and then his former gf’s experiences. His relationship with Cressida in particular fell apart because she couldn’t bear having her every move picked apart by the media.

  17. Nikki says:

SORRY TO BE IGNORANT: can anyone confirm what this means? Does it mean they are allowing an unprecedented number of journalists and photogs to cover their trip? I didn’t know they have to allow them to cover things; can’t any reporter who wants to pop over?

    • Kales says:

Having been a reporter covering a royal visit, you have to apply for media credentials similarly if the president or a celebrity came to visit. You get a pass and access to media placement. Without said credentials, you will be with the rest of the people watching.

  18. Skylark says:

Still trying to figure out why they’re in Dublin? No disrespect to Meghan but Dublin didn’t invite them so this seems like the brf desperately manoeuvring and trying to cash in on what they think is currently marketable and likely to give them a boost.

Hope the brf is paying for every last penny/euro of the cost of this visit because Ireland really has no need of this.

  19. Original Guest says:

I have to say Meghan looks great in all her hats/fascinations

  20. Reece says:

Is it sad how excited I get seeing them together? Yes? Probably? No?…i don’t care.
