Dean Sheremet & fiancee Vanessa Black welcome son Atlas Wilding

A post shared by Dean Sheremet (@deansheremet) on

I honestly forgot this was happening, so this is a very pleasant surprise. Back in March, Dean Sheremet announced his engagement to Vanessa Black. A few weeks later, they announced that they were expecting their first child. Dean has been married twice before, but this is his first kid, and this is the first child for Vanessa as well. Dean took to his Instagram hours ago to announce the happy news: he’s the proud papa of a healthy baby boy!

The baby’s name? Atlas Wilding Sheremet-Black. Oooh, first of all, I love the hyphenation, and I love that Sheremet comes first and then it’s Vanessa’s name. Usually it’s the other way around. Usually the mother’s name would come first, so it would be Black-Sheremet, which sounds cool, but it also sounds like a low-budget blaxploitation movie. Black Sheremet is the baddest motherf–Shut-Your-Mouth, just talking about Black Sheremet. As for the name Atlas…eh. I mean, it’s not TERRIBLE.

Last moments of freedom.

Awww he is too cute. And I like the name Atlas. Welcome little boy!

  2. Jane says:

Precious little bundle. Congrats to the proud parents! However, how long will it take before his ex-Leann flips her lid over this?

  3. Hildi says:

    ….who?

  4. Jay says:

I love that you used the word blaxploitation in this.

  5. Chaine says:

I’m betting we will shortly see selfies of Leeann at her stepsons soccer game wearing an identical blue dress.

  6. Jess says:

Awe good for them! Seems like he’s wanted to be a father for a long time, and I like the name! I think he’ll be a great dad, he sets a good example for what a man is supposed to be….loyal, hardworking, and respectful, plus he’s handsome and that body is wowza, lol. I bet LeAnn is feeling sick over it, look at the loser she chose over Dean, and it looks like she won’t be having any children of her own so this has to burn.

    • Carol says:

Eh, I get that Nostrils is not a nice person but can we leave out her not having children of her own as an insult. It may well hurt her that the ex now has a child but we don’t know if she is childless by choice.

      • joanne says:

leann has brought up having children constantly in her interviews. she usually says that she’s not ready yet. when interest wanes, she’ll drop pregnancy hints. they used her fertility as a storyline in their failed reality show. she uses it when convenient.

      • Leigh-Klein says:

Well she made her bed, didn’t she? Eddie doesn’t want kids I’ll bet and she just won’t admit it.

      • BrutalEthyl says:

Leann’s the one who kept bringing up hints that she was pregnant over the years. That makes her fair game. I can’t wait to see her reaction to this. lol I hope it’s classic over-the-top bullshit like we’ve come to expect from her. And to make it worse, she’s stuck with aging Eddie and his wandering dong while Dean is looking pretty damn sharp lately. Too bad Leann. You picked the wrong door.

      • Mandie says:

        @Joanne
I always wondered about her saying that she wasn’t ready yet. There is only a short window of time before the factory closes. If she had actually been infertile. We would have heard about it. That would be her swan song.
Instead of the regurgitated articles about wanting to have Ed’s baby. The articles would be about the pain of infertility.
I was very angry at her. For using infertility in a story line in her failed show.

    • Yeahright says:

Pretty sure I read in Brandi’s book that he had a vactomy.

  7. HeyThere! says:

The name Atlas is a total guilty pleasure baby name for me. LOL I love old maps and globes. I would never use the name but it is a total guilty pleasure name for me. Along With Goldie for a girl. I would never use…but I love them. Lol

  8. Other Renee says:

He seems like a nice guy so I’m happy for him. The baby is adorable. As for the name, when I read it, I shrugged. 😉😆

  9. K-Peace says:

Congratulations to Dean & Vanessa. Dean seems like a good guy, and he’s wanted to be a dad for a while. I believe he & his last wife split (amicably) because she didn’t want kids and Dean did want them.

I love the name. I’m 8.5 months pregnant, my due date is fast approaching, and we still haven’t figured out names. (We don’t know what we’re having.) I’m starting to get worried we won’t decide in time.

    • elisabeth says:

Arden is one of my favorites for a girl
boys…I could go on and on

    • Esmom says:

You still have time, lol. I didn’t know what I was having and both times we had the girls names nailed…and of course we had boys. But for my first we had a lightbulb moment shortly before birth with a family name that we’d considered and rejected and then suddenly realized was perfect. Have you gone through your family names thoroughly?

    • Betsy says:

Narrow it to two or three for both sexes and then see who she looks like.

And find your trusted name person so that any level of “out thereness” matches who you are. Like the name Apple is bat crap crazy for a normal, but works for someone whose last name will announce who she is anyway, so who cares vs. a made up name that the parents deeply hope signifies independence and bad assery, but only suggests things about the parents, none good. Like nearish my house there’s a sign with the name “Jhesye” on it. I’ve seen it for months and just yesterday realized it’s ”Jesse” or “Jessie.”

      • HeyThere! says:

That’s what we did both times. Went in with a list of first names and middle names, then after they are born one will just feel PERFECT!!! Everyone thought I was holding out on our soon to be babies names but really, we had no idea what their names would be! Girl names we so, so challenging for us.

      • K-Peace says:

Thanks you guys for all the helpful comments! I appreciate it. I think we’ll be doing what some of you mentioned: narrowing it down to a few possible names, and then figuring it out after we meet our baby. I’m hoping we’ll have that “lightbulb moment” after meeting him/her and we’ll know exactly the name that suits him/her. But I am worried! It’s hard because we really want a very different, unique name. Nothing TOO far out there/weird, but something that most people have never heard before. But one that also passes the “Supreme Court Justice Test”. So as you can see, we’re very picky about this!

And yes, we have gone through our family names.–That got us nowhere; there are just no good names in either of our families.

Elisabeth: Arden is a beautiful name! That name is pretty much in the realm of what we’re looking for, in terms of “uniqueness”.

    • Christin says:

Congratulations! I’m sure a great name will occur at the right time.

    • Dazed and confused says:

Very exciting!! I know that my parents had names picked out before I was born and then called an audible at the last moment because another name came to my mom when she looked at me. I’m sure any name you pick out will be lovely.

  10. VeronicaLodge says:

The ex and I had very different opinions on names. Randomly, I was watching Steel Magnolias while I was pregnant and we’d found out baby was a girl. Shelby stuck out to me, he liked it and it was an unusual name in Northern California. We mashed our mothers names up for her middle name (Judy and Joan=June). It was a very southern sounding name but completely outside of the box for us. When you get the right name, it just happens.

  11. Case says:

I LOVE that middle name. Wilding is so cool.

  12. Mandie says:

I am so happy for Dean and Vanessa. After all he has been put through. He deserves some happiness.

  13. Ash says:

My son’s middle name is Atlas!!

  14. TassieGirl says:

True confession: I love these two and follow them on IG and Twitter. They are both utterly adorable and gracious and reply to all the comments people write.

Once I asked for the ID on a dress Vanessa was wearing and she told me the designer, the store she bought it and the price.

They are both just beautiful folks! X

  15. jennifer says:

    i thought he was gay?

anyways, followed this pregnancy and he seems so possessive and bossy. i’m sure he completely ran leann’s life when they were together, that’s why she’s gone wild now that she’s free of him. i hope he’s not too hard on the kid.

still think he needs to come to terms with his sexuality.
