Kate Mara wore this Miu Miu gown to the Golden Globes on Sunday night, and I commented that Kate was rather easily one of the worst dressed women of the night. I’m sorry. While I still think her look was a disaster, what I didn’t know then was that Kate is pregnant. Some of you called it on Monday, that Kate had probably chosen the Miu Miu dress to hide her figure a bit because she wasn’t ready to announce anything. She still hasn’t announced anything, but Page Six says that Kate and her husband Jamie Bell are expecting:
A baby for Mr. and Mrs. Bell. Kate Mara is expecting her first child with fellow actor and husband of one-and-a-half years, Jamie Bell, a source tells Page Six. Our spy tells us the “Pose” actress, 35, couldn’t contain her excitement over the news at the Golden Globes, revealing to Emily Blunt that she’s pregnant after the best actress nominee commented on the size of her breasts while waiting in line for the bathroom.
Mara added that she and her husband, 31, are thrilled, however she was nervous that people would find out before she made the announcement official as she is already showing. From there, the good news spread like a game of telephone through the Beverly Hilton.
The “House of Cards” star, who is reportedly already five months along, wore a custom Miu Miu gown to the ceremony featuring an embellished bodice with a triangle cutout that showcased her cleavage and a loosely cut prairie skirt that helped obscure her baby bump on the red carpet.
See, now I just feel bad. I was hating on a pregnant lady without knowing about her condition. Go ahead and yell at me, I deserve it! (I still think this dress is a disaster THERE I SAID IT). Anyway, Kate and Jamie have been together since 2015, and they got married in 2017. This is her first marriage, but Jamie was married to Evan Rachel Wood before, and Jamie and ERW have a 4-year-old son together. Incidentally, I thought ERW and Jamie had never revealed their son’s name, but I googled it and apparently they named him Jack Matfin Bell. Which is adorable.

Kate Mara…NEVA stood out for me as an actress…until I saw her in the movie “Morgan”…and the last three episodes of “Pose”…(the episodes before those last ones, she didn’t stand out at all) NOW I GET IT!
Called it! I knew that’s what that bizarre Miu Miu dress was about.
Best wishes to them but her breasts look like they are in an elaborate, uncomfortable cage in that dress.

Yeah it was obvious from the pregnancy boobs alone. She’s not the type to get a boob job so pregnancy was the only explanation that made sense.
I don’t feel bad for thinking this is an awful dress anyway because why do this to yourself! If she was that desperate to not announce the pregnancy she should just have stayed home.
This is just curiosity, not being dismissive, but how can you tell who is the type to get a boob job?
Because she has historically never messed with herself cosmetically. I don’t think she was throwing shade that only “certain types” of women get surgery, more that Kate has demonstrated throughout the years that she is not interested in any kind of permanent procedures.
I’m 5 months pregnant and can hide it better than she did, lol. She wasn’t hiding it if you ask me. Just stirring speculation before an announcement.

Agreed. Her hairstyle was atrocious. I felt so bad for her, imagining that once it was done it was too late to fix it and she was stuck with it. Terrible.
I knew it! As soon as I saw those boobs, I thought “pregnancy boobs for sure!!” And the dress seemed too bulky for teensy tiny her. Congrats to them!

Boobs were a giveaway. Crickey! I missed these two were even together. They seem like a sweet match.
If she didn’t want to be noticed then she could have worn a fitted tux, or well-fitted dress. Yet she walked around looking like she was trying to get on every worst-dressed list. They wanted the world to know. Congrats!
Pregnancy is not a condition, much less a condition that would excuse this dress choice. There are perfectly nice sack dresses now. Her breasts look like they are trapped and I have doubts whether they survived the evening with no air in that cage.
Just because a woman is pregnant does not mean we should lie about how we perceive her. She isn’t an invalid or dying. We aren’t criticizing her as a human being, or as a future parent, by saying that we don’t like her dress. This is not what “mommy shaming” is.

Pregnant or not, that dress is a crime against eyeballs everywhere! Congrats to them, I’ve remembered her since she was a small town girl who needed an abortion in Everwood.
