Last week, those of us who watch Busy Tonight finally got the moment we’d been waiting for: Busy Philipps’ BFF, Michelle Williams, came by for a visit and oh my gawd, Michelle looked incredible. I hope newlywed bliss plays into her glow, at least a little bit. Ostensibly, Michelle was there to promote her role as Gwen Verdon in Fosse/Verdon but really, it was just an excuse for the two ladies to hang out all night. And because Busy was so excited to have Michelle there, she cut all the filler and just brought Michelle out for the whole show. It was fun and showed how much affection they have for each other. Their chemistry was comforting and made me miss my close friends. They kept telling outrageous stories like crashing jet skis and this one, in which Michelle had a family of mice living in her car:
Remember that time you had the mouse living in your car? In New York? In the winter, Michelle had a family of mice living in her Prius.
*gasps* I don’t want to talk about it! I am a Virgo except when it comes to my car because, I just don’t care that much about cars. So it’s very ‘accessorized’ with belongings and…It’s trashy

It had just been Easter time and I looked in the backseat of the car and I was like, ‘wow, what a mess. There’s eggshells and half eaten eggs and, whoa, half eaten eggshells of the eggs. So, Matilda, don’t eat the eggshells of the eggs. I hadn’t realized yet. And then I looked down and I was like, ‘Boy, the car is really getting maximum dirty and there were like branches and twigs and things. ‘And then I think, ‘Oh no – nonono, those are turd.’ And then I noticed a hole had been chewed through the seat and the mice had been eating the Easter eggs.You never, ever stop seeing, when you look in the rearview mirror, a little mouse head pops up. That never goes away
Mice are, in fact, my favorite animal so I never get as freaked out by them as I should be, especially having been a mouse mom to so many throughout my life (all buried in Cracker Jack boxes in my families pet cemetery). However, not even I could turn a blind eye to a mouse family living in my car.
After Busy and Michelle discussed Michelle’s phantom mouse visions, they discussed the idea that they should have a party for their 20th friendiversary. That’s a great idea! We should all do this. I think I’ll celebrate a 15th with my closest girl friend right around when our firstborns graduate high school. I’m thinking a cruise would be a nice anniversary gift to ourselves.
Like I said, Michelle was there to promote her new show, Fosse/Verdon. about Bob Fosse and Gwen Verdon, airing April 9th on FX. I thought this would be the normal PR portion of the show but, as commenter SM pointed out on the Josh Groban post, Busy doesn’t ask “the boring standard questions.” Instead, she asked Michelle why she came back to TV and Michelle’s answer kind of got to me. After that whole debacle with the pay disparity between Michelle and Mark Wahlberg on All the Money in the World, FX came to Michelle with a script and a promise of equal pay.
What made you decided to go back to television? We’ve had many conversations over the years, it would have to be like, exactly the right thing for you. Why was it this?
Equal pay. We had just come off of that very dramatic moment in time and when they came to me about this project and that that was a part of it, I was so moved to see that something had shifted so dramatically, that it was just there, alongside reading the script was the promise that you will (be paid equally)
The show ended just as sweetly as it began with the two ladies in their nightgowns (which is the way Busy ends her shows, by changing into Mr. Nightgown) reading each other letters about their friendship. It was nice. Michelle’s was very sweet and touching and Busy’s was laced with humor and jabs at themselves but both were genuine and made the other cry. Oh, and Busy tried to finally give Michelle her Golden Globe back but Michelle told her to keep it. So, I think Busy can now officially promote herself as “an actress who holds a Golden Globe.”

Mice and squirrels can cause a lot of damage to vehicles. Sometimes they’ll nest in the hood of your car which poses a lot of risks. We always have a few little mice in our shed in the back yard. I like mice – they’re adorable as long as they’re not getting into your kitchen or something like that.
We had them in the roof of the car our mother bought so we could go back and forth from our summer jobs as teens. Between summers, she stored it on the farm where she grew up. When it turned cold, a family of mice moved into Cutlass Mansion, where they spent a winter living in extreme luxury.
They get in through some vents. One got into my Corolla in the 90s and built a nest that clogged up something in my ac. That was a hot summer on the Gulf Coast, let me tell you.
Especially chewing very important wires. Which you might not find out about until it’s too late. We live in the woods and are always chasing squirrels away from the cars and checking the engine in the mower before we start it up. I’ve tried to talk my husband into a couple of cats, but he vetoes every time.
I live in the mountains \ forest area. They are a fact of life here. And have chewed wires in my car ($1000 to fix) as well as my heating unit under the house ($250). Having a cat keeps them out of the house at least.
We had a huge problem a few years ago. There was a bumper crop of maple seeds and all of the little critters went crazy looking for places to hide them. First the chipmunk got into the insulation under the hood and from there the nice got up into the roofliner, under the backseat, chewed up and nested in the insulation of the heated seats and so on. Apparently, yellow wires have a soy component so they loved those. I was greatly relieved that the 3000$ bill was covered by my insurance! I’ve had mice nest in a barely used car, but never one that I drove everyday!
Their friendship is goals. I got a Valentine card yesterday from my bff of 35 years and now I’m crying. What would we do without our girlfriends?!
That’s so sweet!! I’m going to do the same for my girlfriends now:) I call them my soulmates, I can’t imagine where I’d be in life without them.
I enjoy Busy overall, I think she is sweet and comes off as quite genuine. I’ve unfollowed her on Insta because I find her a bit extra (plus she posts too much and completely took over my feed), but I still have a look at her page regularly and enjoy her posts.
I decided to give her talk show a try the other day and was very surprised at the really thick L.A / Valley girl accent – I did not expect it at all and it kind of put me off. I still think she can bring something different to the talk shows table, so I might give it another go.
Aww, Michelle, don’t worry it’s not just because you’re messy … last year my foodless prius had a mouse nest in the glovebox. Just popped it open one day and a shredded confetti of all the paper napkins and manuals I keep in there flew out along with a little deer mouse. Good thing I was still in my driveway 😆😆
When I was a child, my mother told me the story about the time when she was a young woman and, as she was driving, a mouse crawled up her leg. It was within her trouser leg. She had to keep her calm so that she would not cause an accident and pulled over. This story has haunted me for life. So I am now sharing it with you. All the best.
My neighbors had a similar situation and between your moms story and theirs,good on you all for not freaking out and driving off the road !
My bff and I had a special girl’s day for our 25th friendaversary. She got me a card and we went for dinner and shopping (I wa pregnant, so we didn’t want to do anything crazy). We plan on doing something crazy for 40 years.
The guys at the dealership have opined to me that my faulty window cleaner hose is because squirrels were chewing through it. They said damage from squirrels/ rats/ mice happens all the time. I wasn’t sure but since I stopped parking my car in the driveway it hasn’t happened again. Also, my friend opened his car door at a gas station and a rat popped out of the car door! I think he’s been to therapy for that. So basically, Michelle, mice happens to good people ALL THE TIME!
Rats or other “critters” (as the mechanic put it) totally destroyed my friend’s saturn back in the early 00’s in DC. They love chewing on wires!!
So what is busy tonight? Is it an E show or a youtube show? I like Busy but the only acting I have ever seen her do was in that HBO show Camping (which I enjoyed, but I think I’m the only one). I think I would like Cougartown but I don’t know where it is streaming, and if it is on hulu, well, I have amazon, netflix, acorn, and britbox right now so I won’t get another service. Someday I’ll see it

It’s sweet that Busy seems to bring out a more outgoing side of Michelle. I’ve never seen her this talkative and comfortable!
How cute are they!? This is what friendship should be, reminds me of my girlfriends, we just laugh so hard we cry every time we get together.
I also understand the messy car, I was diagnosed with OCD as a teen and still carry a lot of the smaller/less annoying habits now, mainly keeping my house very neat and orderly, but my car is the one and only place I can just let it be. It always looks like a bomb went off! I wouldn’t be surprised at all to find mice in there:)
Busy is annoying but her friendship with Michelle is so stinking adorable. I love them together.
I started spraying peppermint oil in my car, they hate the smell. Y’all making me scare to dry me own car.
Let me tell you mice are not cute when they invade your home hahaha! I had issues with mice in my first NYC apartment. I was up late one night watching Netflix and my bedroom door was open. Out of the corner of my eye I see a mouse scurry into my bedroom from the kitchen. I sat there paralyzed for a good 10 minutes before going into my room and hopped onto my bed (which I had lofted for storage) hoping the mouse would run out if it heard me on the bed. No such luck, I could hear it scurrying around under my bed (and I had a lot of stuff stored under it) and every time it would pop out from under the bed I would jump and I would startle it and it would dive back under my bed. In the end, I slept in my roommate’s room who was away for work. The mouse was gone by the morning but I made sure to close my bedroom door at all times from then on. We also had the exterminator install steel wool in the kitchen openings where we thought they were getting in and we stopped seeing them.
My mom also has had mouse issues in her Boston apartment. I was visiting once and came out of the bathroom and my parents had this terrorized look on their face–I had just missed a mouse diving under the sofa in the living room to hide. And another time my mom was watching TV on the sofa and a mouse started climbing up the throw blanket she had on towards her. She screamed and threw the blanket off and the mouse went flying in the air. You really do not want them on you at all costs.
As for messy cars I guess I was raised in a family that doesn’t leave their cars a mess because I’ve never understood people who truck around half their life in their cars. I do think it is really embarrassing when I have to ride in friends’ cars that are a total mess and I have to push stuff around just to find a seat (which is way more common than you think, so many people seem to think it’s fine to leave their cars a total mess and I really don’t get it).
