If you remember, I thought Jennifer Lopez and Alex Rodriguez looked particularly glum at the Oscars. Not even A-Rod – it was all J.Lo. SHE looked over it, and like she was disappointed to be walking yet another red carpet with Alex. I theorized that a breakup might be happening, and I also felt like Jennifer was reaching a point where if Alex didn’t propose, she was going to call it off. Usually men propose to Jennifer much earlier in their relationships. She let it be known – repeatedly – that she felt like this A-Rod thing was going to end in marriage. And he still wasn’t proposing. I wonder if the Oscar-glumness was part of an ultimatum, because two weeks later, A-Rod proposed.
The proposal happened during their vacation in the Bahamas. I don’t know if their kids were with them, but I know that their blended family is very important to both of them. Still, I kind of wonder if Marc Anthony had the kids this weekend? Jennifer’s manager Benny Medina confirmed the news, and People Mag wants us to know that “Everyone is super happy for both of them.” Check out the massive rock:

It’s an absolutely giant emerald-cut diamond. We were wondering on Twitter if it’s a pink diamond, or if the pink hue is just a filter or the sunset or whatever. Ben Affleck famously gave Jennifer a pink diamond engagement ring, so would it be tacky if A-Rod did the same? But most jewelry experts say this is just a standard white diamond, high-quality, at least 10 carats, and worth around $1 million. If it does turn out to be a pink diamond, I bet it’s worth ten times that, because it’s pretty rare to find a pink diamond that large and high-quality.
This will be Jennifer’s fourth marriage and A-Rod’s second. It feels like it’s been more for both of them, right? That’s because she’s a serial monogamist and he’s… well, A-Rod.

I think she married Marc for safety and self-esteem. They were friends before and if I recall correctly he put her on a pedestal. He encouraged her on singing career, etc.
Ben really did a number on her and, to be fair, in most women he dated.
@BnAFAN it was FIVE months between the Affleck engagement and the Anthony wedding not ten. I always felt she used that marriage as a big F U to Ben. Not a good reason for a relationship but it lasted way longer than I thought it would. Only nice (???) thing I can say about that ring is its big but that’s no surprise. He had his orders.
@M, remember she was married to that dancer, cannot remember his name, when she started seeing BA. B was very disrespectful to that husband. I guess I’m saying BA treated her bad because they started out shady, jmo. I’m not positive but I believe she started seen Mark while he was still married and then get married to him like days after his divorce, oh my. She has a very interesting life.

@BNA Fan: True. But let’s keep in mind JLo recorded “Olvidame” with Marc in 1999. So, at least professionally, they knew each other way before she dated BA and before Marc was married. They all seem to like to overlap relationships. So… Who knows?! BA actions are his own. He also shaded JLo for his career bad choices and yet time showed everyone he is the master of self sabotage.

I guess everyone who sort of like to see those two together or just JLo in love with love breath out with relief this morning upon seeing he took the cue and put a ring on it. It is a spectacular rock. To me the ring is a sign of commitment so I want to make sure it is comfortable and I can keep it on, so I am happy I have a ring I can keep on at all times, I never take my engagement ring off. With that giant rock how comfortable is it really to wear it all the time. So I guess if I had loads of money I still would probably want something smaller for an engagement ring. But it wouldn’t be JLo I guess, it it wasn’t a giant bling.
That’s a good point. I never take my engagement ring off either, but I have a big cocktail ring with a semi-precious stone and there’s no way I’d want to keep it on all the time. I’d really worry about losing something that size because you’d be bound to take it off regularly.
I have an 8ct. emerald cut aquamarine with diamonds on the side. While it is VERY comfortable on, I sure wouldn’t want to wear it constantly, like you do an engagement ring. If I forget to take it off when getting undressed, it catches on everything. I’m also very conscious of where I’m going when I wear it! But then again, I don’t have personal security around me like JLo does!
I just can’t see JLo wearing that ring ALL the time. I’m sure she’ll get a nice, diamond-crusted wedding band that will be worn all the time, and the engagement ring will move to the right hand to be worn on occasion.
My husband gave me a three stone ring as an engagement ring,and it was four carats and gorgeous!I also wore two wedding rings surrounding it,it was and is beautiful,but I only wore it *out*,like dress up events,church,sitting in the audience at school plays,and then back off at home.It was on here when we got a good look at Kristin Dunst( sp?)Her ring was classic,small by Hollywood standards,and commenters were saying how lovely it was to see a beautiful ring in a more normal size,I told my husband that someday I’d love a smaller and easier every day look.Last year he gave me a east west bezel set 1 and a half emerald cut as an anniversary gift.I love it .Its simplistic beauty is overlooked Sometimes but when someone admires it they mean it,it’s classic,easy and it suits me now.
Mine is the same way, a big center brilliant cut stone with a split shank and inset band, so it feels like 3 stacked rings. I wear it out, but never at home or hanging with the neighbors in sweats 🤷🏻♀️.
A BIG rock is very tacky American. Look up Carla Bruni’s ring. This is the standard in France, tasteful, elegant, minimalist. If you remember after Kim K got robbed, she went for something more European and discreet. When I got engaged, we chose a wedding band from Tiffany’s with a row of diamonds. I love it. I can wear it everyday without feeling ostentatious and I know if I somehow misplace, it won’t be that crazy only sentimental value. Actually, I specifically chose it too so I could wear it during yoga!
Katherine you HAVE to be kidding me. Bruno owns some of the tackiest rings I’ve ever seen. They’re giant, gaudy hideous things. Not only that but I’m a show of absolute “class” he gave her the exact same ring he’d given his ex wife.

I have a different feeling about this one – seems to me they’re well-suited. And one would hope that through all those relationships ending, there were lessons learned that are taken into subsequent ones. I don’t think JLo married the same guy three times, and frankly, based on Ben Affleck’s post-JLo life, she probably dodged a bullet by not marrying him.
Agreed, Ben did Jlo a favor by ruining their engagement. Although I’m sure it was a hard lesson learned for her it turned out to for the best.
Also, I think these two work really well together just in general.

I thought she was glum at the Oscars because she was “the one” Tom Ford chose to dress and then he just gave her the same dress he gave Amal Clooney for the Met Gala almost a year ago, except in a different color. Lolo- I was thinking somewhat the same thing. She wasn’t up for an Oscar, and I do not believe she has a movie coming out. She wouldn’t be the BIG NAME that night, but she certainly looked and acted as if she was.

I think this marriage will work. They are very similar imo. That ring is gorgeous. I work in an upscale area and I’ve seen some big diamond rings. But nothing like this one.
I love Jlo, but even if that ring was worth $1B it would still look tacky/fake/cheap. Something smaller would was looked more sophisticated and expensive. But it seems they both like being a bit extra so it fits them.

I always got the vibe from JLo that she needs a guy whos crazy about her body and majorly attracted to her but i dont get that from ARod, do u? It seemed that way with PDiddy and ben affleck but not ARod which is why i thought they were going to break up. Maybe hes a family guy which works with her situation as a single mom; but there wasnt enough of a spark for her.

I think she definitely likes to be worshipped. They seem very similar in a lot of ways, but I’ve always gotten a selfish vibe from him that I don’t get from her. I think she seems more capable of giving that adoration and stroking his ego.
It’s possible he’s matured. And it’s also possible that he likes the attention he gets from being with her so much that he’s willing to be what she needs him to be. She’s never put up with cheaters though, and he’s got a history of that, so we’ll see.

I agree with you on this one. They look great in photoshoots but in real life I just see no spark. I wish I did but I don`t. Of course, I might be wrong. I feel like this relationship is J.Lo proving to everyone her status and what a wonderful life she is living. All for show. Rings that big always look like hunks of cubic zirconia to me. I’m sure it’s real but I don’t like them. I didn’t like Gaga’s big heart-shaped ring or Mariah’s huge ring from that rich Shrek guy either (was it heart shaped too?). I bet this engagement will make Mariah’s head explode. Doesn’t she see J-Lo as competition? Thinks she copies her? But J-Lo is younger, prettier, fitter and more well-liked. I think Mariah has moved on to Madonna territory and is now hiring “boyfriends”. My SIL has a 4 carat emerald cut stone.. it’s a nice cut for bigger stones as it makes them seem understated. That being said nothing can make a 10 carat stone look understated. It’s total Liz Taylor territory.
