Madonna on moving back times for her shows: ‘the queen is never late’

Madonna has promoted herself from 4-star general to Queen, and she has a message for her fans who are annoyed about the 10:30 pm start time of her shows: “The queen is never late.” Her subjects are just really really early, lucky them! Madonna, or, excuse me, Her Madgesty, made the comments during a recent show on her tour. She was thought to be responding to a lawsuit by a fan who was unable to see a show after its start was pushed back 2 hours:

At her Friday concert, the “Queen of Pop” and “Express Yourself” singer hit back against the disgruntled fans suing her a Live Nation for pushing delaying the start time for performances on her current tour, “Madame X,” TMZ reports.

“Here’s something you all need to understand,” the 61-year-old told the crowd. “And that is, that the queen is never late.”

The suit comes from Nate Hollander, a Florida man, who says he lost the $1,024.95 he spent on three tickets for Madonna’s Miami Beach show on Dec. 17, after the start time was moved from the originally scheduled 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., according to legal documents obtained by the outlet.

During the tour, [the] suit asserts, the “Material Girl” — born Madonna Louise Ciccone — hasn’t been reliable when it come[s] to timing, frequently beginning her performances two hours after the scheduled start time.

[From New York Daily News]

Good luck with that lawsuit, Nate. Since the show actually went on, I don’t think that he’s going to get anywhere. That said, pushing a show’s start back two hours is beyond unprofessional and obnoxious. Are we surprised that Madonna is doing it, though? No. Her die-hard fans won’t care. They came to see her, they will stay to see her, even if it means that the show doesn’t wrap up until after midnight on a weeknight. I grew up listening to Madonna, but nonsense like this is why I don’t really pay as much attention to her anymore.

I remember reading something years ago in Tori Amos’ memoir about how there were times that she had to push the start of her show because her daughter, Natasha, who was very young at the time, would need her for one reason or another. Though Tori hated doing that, her first responsibility was to her child. It happened rarely, and maybe it meant that the show started a half-hour late or something, no great annoyance in the grand scheme of things. Amos also puts on a great show and spends time chatting with fans. She cares that they came to see her, and she wants everyone to have a good time. As far as Madonna is concerned, the world revolves entirely around her. She doesn’t care (or doesn’t seem to) that sure, her fans adore her and came to see her, but if they are going to be shelling out money to her, part of her responsibility, at a bare minimum, is to perform during or close to the expected time. People rearrange their schedules to go to concerts and have responsibilities that they need to work around. Plus, nobody wants to get home after midnight on a weeknight when they have to go to work the next morning unless they’ve planned for that. But, Madonna’s gonna Madonna.

I am sorry, over a thousand dollars for 3 tickets? And you have to wait endlessly with the whole show late for 2 hours. She strikes not only as delusional ego maniac but unprofessional and ungrateful.

    • Kimberly says:

isn’t she the Queen mutha? serious. She’s past her prime and a new queen reigns…

would NEVER go to one of her shows…..she ain’t my queen…

    • (TheOG)@Jan90067 says:

It’s pretty much a given that shows don’t start on time. Usually though, they start 30 min. late, maybe 45. I was SO grateful when Paul McCartney’s concert was 35 min. late as we were stuck in God-awful traffic. We had dinner in Silver Lake (normally 10 min. from the stadium) and it took well almost an hour and a half to get to the stadium and park!).

But after shelling out a small fortune for front row seats (a Bucket List item for me 😊) if I had to stand there waiting for over 2 hrs. for him to come out, I’d be MAJORLY ticked off!

If you want my money to keep coming (tickets, merch) respect me, too!
A lot of “artists” forget (when they get to a certain level) that without their fans, they would be nothing any more.

    • Megan says:

Making fans wait two hours is to stroke Madonna’s massive ego.

      • velourazure says:

Why doesn’t she just set the start time at 10:30 pm if that’s when she wants to start? I wonder is she thinks no one would buy tickets?

    • Slimkeith says:

In the last two years I’ve seen Roger Waters (of Pink Ffloyd) Elton John, Paul Simon, Billy Joel and a few more and everyone started on time-the bigger the star-like Elton, the more on time they were. They’ve been in the business since the 70’s and they’re real musicians not like Modonna-who forever ruined pop music. I hold her personally responsibile for all the shitty music on the radio since she appeared around 1983-4.

    • otaku fairy.... says:

So unprofessional and inconsiderate. Doesn’t sound like I’ve missed much by having never been to her concerts, based on these stories.

  2. Arizona says:

I think any celebrity who has people paying the see them and then makes them wait for hours because they feel like it is so selfish and ridiculous. not everyone has the world catering to them. if people pay for a concert to start at a specific time it should start within a half hour of that time.

  3. Sharonk says:

I went to her Miami show several years ago. It started 2/1/2 hours late. Her opening act was horrible and so was her show.
    I’m sorry I didn’t leave.
What complete disrespect for her fans….
She’s lucky she has any fans left.

    • lisa says:

Sharonk, we saw the same show in Portland. 2.5 hours late. And her voice sucked – we left after about 20-30 min. Great memories of her music though, from my childhood in the 80s. But we are done with her.

  4. Jennifer says:

But Madonna, you’re not a queen, you’re just an asshole with an unbelievable ego.

  5. 10KTurtle says:

I don’t go to many concerts because they are so late [Seriously- why can’t concerts be at 10am on a Saturday?], so this would annoy the crap out of me, and I’m not even having to pay overtime to babysitters and roll in to work on 3 hours sleep the next day. Does she still play her whole set, or is the show cut short due to the late start? I would think everybody working at the concert venue who expected to be home two hours earlier would object to the lateness, too.

On the other hand… rockstars gonna rockstar. You can’t pretend it’s totally unexpected.

    • lucy says:

OMG, seriously love concerts starting at 10 am on a Saturday! I am there with you!!! As for Madonna, I would never want to see her because this is how she is. I saw Billy Joel and he did lat least 4 encores – the last one he you could see him telling his band what to perform. THAT I didn’t mind staying for. Because someone considers herself a queen and can do as she wants? No thank you! No appreciation for fans!

      • (TheOG)@Jan90067 says:

I’ve seen Billy three times. Each time the show went to over 3 hrs. w/out a break, and yes, multiple encores. Same with Neil Diamond (hope he’s doing well with his Parkinsons 😢). I saw Bowie twice, and he also put on a stellar and LONG show, and it started w/in 15 min. of ticket time. Consummate performers, appreciative of their fans!

      • MsGnomer says:

Wow!! I am so glad Bowie gave you a stellar performance!! So good! Back in high school (1987?) I bought a really expensive stadium seat ticket to go with my two friends. Turns out, Bowie sang for barely for an hour (possibly due to strep) and I am still bummed to this day!! Oh, my heart, the despair!! To give you an idea how broke we all were, when McCartney came to the area, we drove by the same stadium, pulled over to the side of the road and listened with the windows rolled down…… it’s kind of a sweet memory now. That crazy Madonna is not only a diva but also a fool.

    • Bettyrose says:

IKR? I’d go to so many concerts at 10am!

    • Megan says:

If The Who can start on time, so can Madonna.

      • Granger says:

Or AC/DC, Guns ‘N Roses… Saw them both in the last few years and not only did the shows start on time, but they were long shows without breaks and every last second was entertaining.

  6. Stef says:

She’s lost touch with reality and clearly doesn’t give a damn about her fans. As you said, the world revolves around her.

I used to love Madonna but now I see her as too egotistical, spoiled, and overrated. Last time she played BC Place in Vancouver, she started the show 2 hours late and sounded terrible. I’ll never buy another ticket for her again, she doesn’t deserve it.

  7. Louise177 says:

If this happened once or twice I would give Madonna a pass but this is a fairly common occurrence. I want to know what she’s doing for those two+ hours. I’ve been to concerts that were delayed 30-60 minutes but hours is ridiculous.

    • olive says:

i doubt she’s even ready to go at the scheduled start time. she may not even be at the venue.

    • Gia says:

It’s because they need gallons of paint , I mean makeup, to slather on her face. She FaceTunes and edits the crap out of her Instagram photos that when the makeup artist shows up they realize they need 10x as much makeup and tape to pull her face up. This causes delays. Just google no photoshop Madonna / Madonna no filter for a glimpse. There’s nothing wrong with a woman being older or looking her age. But Madonna deceives the public by photoshopping herself into oblivion.

  8. Lightpurple says:

They have now officially changed the start times for the venues from the original 8 PM to 10:30. Anyone who bought tickets based on the 8 PM start who wants a refund should be able to get it. I just checked ticket availability here in Boston and there are tickets available for all three nights, lots available for the Monday night show. For someone at her level, that’s not a good sign. My niece ushers in the local theaters and says they’re going to have difficulty finding people to work these later times due to transportation issues and having to work or go to school the next day. And the venue isn’t thrilled because anything after midnight is overtime pay.

    • Lucy2 says:

Excellent point about the venue and the people working there.
She is just utterly ridiculous. Most concerts start a little bit late, but 2 1/2 hours is just flat out rude, and her tickets are crazy overpriced. I have tickets to two upcoming concerts, both under $100, both are very talented singers, and neither will be 2 1/2 hours late.

      • Lightpurple says:

By officially changing the start time, they can roll back the call time for the staff from 7 PM to 9:30, which will save them from paying staff to appease an angry audience for two hours but they’ll still have to pay overtime for anyone who does work, these are union jobs. Our public transportation system doesn’t run after 1 AM and many of the parking garages close by 1 AM. The parking garage immediately next to the venue here is open 24 hours because it’s attached to a major hospital but it’s expensive.

And there is no guarantee she will take the stage at 10:45.

      • The Hench says:

Do you think they’ve actually told Madonna? Or have they, like I do with my father who is perennially late, told her the concert still starts at 8pm so she can indulge her gigantic ego by thinking she’s kept everyone waiting when, in actual fact, she hasn’t?

And, if they HAVE told her, isn’t there a danger that she will then rock up at midnight because she is too much of a narcissistic cow, sorry, rebel to be on time?

I’d definitely go with the first option.

      • lucy2 says:

And I would imagine a lot of the people working those events have day jobs too, so that’s going to be tough on them.

I hope people can get refunds if they choose, and her ticket sales stall out to send a message this is not ok.

    • Erinn says:

This is some Leann Rimes level BS, honestly.

I really have grown to hate Madonna. Hate is a strong word, so I guess I just can’t stand her. I find her to be incredibly exhausting. Same with Mariah Carey. There’s a certain amount of respect from being in the industry that you can float along on with less than stellar behavior. People find a certain amount of arrogance funny, depending on how it’s done. But there’s a point where it’s just too much, and I think both women are at that point. It’d be one thing if the show change was a super rare occurrence. But there’s no good reason for this to happen even somewhat frequently.

But don’t worry, I’m sure she’ll chalk it up to ageism.

  9. Kyla says:

I’ve probably been to about 200 concerts in my life, including small shows and large stadium tours. The worst one I’ve ever seen was Madonna on the Rebel Heart tour. She was a lazy performer with a mediocre set list, which given her catalogue of music and legend status came as a quite a surprise to me at the time. I regret not seeing her on the Truth or Dare tour, but lesson learned. I think her shows now are only for her die-hard fans, which I wonder how many of those could there actually be?

    • Babs441 says:

I also when to the rebel heart tour and was very disappointed she was also 3 hours late and every other word out of her mouth was the F bomb. NEVER again

  10. aurora says:

    Delusional, aren’t you, Madonna?

  11. Peanutbuttr says:

She is ALWAYS late. I once (about 10 years ago) went to one of her shows and shared a cab from the train station with some of her die hards, who travel to multiple cities to see her. They told me her shows were always at least 2 hours late.

I will say that back then she did put on a good show once she showed up but I’m definitely never going to her shows again.

  12. Rapunzel says:

I’d rather see Tori Amos, for sure.

  13. Aims says:

I have seen Tori twice in concert and she gave a hell of a show. She played her heart out and was engaging with the crowd. The last time I saw her, I was eight months pregnant. She was on time, thankfully. Tori was lovely and played a piano and organ at the same time. Which rocked my world. I have never seen Madonna live, nor would I want to. I prefer artist who are talented and mindful of their audience. Tori was both.

  14. JoanCallamezzo says:

Whenever someone shows up late it’s called arrogance. They think their time is more important than my time. It’s one of my biggest pet peeves. I taught my kids that showing up on time means 5 minutes early or else you are being disrespectful. I would be mortified to hold up a venue full of fans, some of them have a long travel and have to get to work early the next day. It’s unprofessional. Madonna’s tours should run like a well oiled machine by now.

    • (TheOG)@Jan90067 says:

Joan, I’m with you. I am *always* arriving early to ensure I’m not late, and I think people who are *always* late to be very disrespectful of me/my time. Of course, there are real excuses, but if you KNOW there’s always traffic at time, LEAVE EARLIER. Listen to the news before you leave the house to see if there’s an accident on the road you *usually* take, and plan accordingly. It’s not that hard.

      • Lady D says:

I had a friend who was habitually late for one simple reason. She felt it made her the center of attention when she did arrive, and she lived for those moments. I made the mistake of catching a ride with her once, we were queuing for a 3-day trip with our local Cub pak. (we were leaders) The trip was cancelled she made us so late. I left her there to call all the parents to come pick up their boys. It was 7am on a Saturday and I wasn’t dealing with all those pissed off parents. That was 20 years ago and from what I understand she is still delighting in being late.

  15. Case says:

Ew. Don’t let anyone you’re a fan of disrespect you like that. Two hours late is unprofessional and absurd.

  16. Deanne says:

The queen of what? Unprofessionalism? This is such arrogant behaviour.

  17. Jillian says:

A friend from work traveled to Chicago from Wisconsin to see her at a decent sized theater here: tickets were close to $300 and they didn’t even have great seats. He said the show sucked and all she played was her new music, which no one knows or wants to hear. Madonna has gotten terribly self-indulgent in her old age.

  18. The show he is suing over hasn’t happened yet— it is an announced time change a month in advance.

Having said that I was in Vegas last weekend when she played Caesar’s palace, she was almost four hours late hitting the stage Friday night and it is almost entirely new music from her Madame X persona… folks were pissed.

Gaga was also in town ( it was a wild weekend in Vegas) and was the height of professionalism per reports.

    • Babs441 says:

I have seen Gaga’s show in Vegas 6 times this year and its amazing. Show time was at 8 pm and she showed up at 8:20 she sings live , dance her butt off and is a true professional. Ill be seeing her again next month

      • Tiffany :) says:

I went to see Gaga last week in Vegas and she had to cancel because of bronchitis. I don’t fault her at all, she’s human, but I was so sad I didn’t get to see the show.

  19. StellainNH says:

The only way to correct such an egomaniac is to start boycotting her shows. I never thought she was that special. Never on my bucket list to see.

  20. Betsy says:

What? Why? There’s no explanation for this rudeness. I mean sound checks and all that junk are done night before/morning of. So she’s just lazy and entitled and thinks the world waits on her. Annoying.

  21. greenmonster says:

She is just an idiot. I would not attend a show that starts this late because I have a train to catch. I don’t care who is performing, I will not wait until 2am somewhere in Berlin to catch the last train.

  22. Texas says:

I have always thought Madonna was obnoxious but I loved her music. She was my generation’s in your face woman so I kind of liked that. But she was always problematic.

  23. mikaela says:

Uh . . . she’s not the only one. We had to wait about two hours for Lauryn Hill a few years back. I hear she does this quite often. Never again.

  24. Ai says:

Being a long time fan of her music since I grew up with it, I went to her concert for the first time about 2 years ago. It was probably the only chance and I wanted to see her once since she doesn’t come to my part of Asia often. She was 2 hours late and so while annoyed, I stayed since it was a weekend. I googled at the venue as I waited and heard other fans say that this is the norm for her for YEARS. Terrible way to treat fans – why not just adjust the show time to 10:30 pm. Despite that, the concert (production, stage, lights) was pretty good and she impressed me (not being ageist but she still dance hard and sounded good) – I could tell she put on a strong show. I am glad I went but that was probably my one and only Madonna concert.

  25. emy says:

Some friends and I went to see Madonna a few years ago and she started almost 3 hours late – and her opening act was terrible. A few of us had sitters at home that we kept texting to apologize. I think we finally got home after 2am… never again.
I took my kids to see Elton John this past weekend and the 8pm show started at 8:05. That’s how it’s done sir.

    • Raina says:

I just would feel like total shit if I kept ANYONE waiting that long and especially after they paid so much to watch my performance because its not like it’s real vocal genius. It would embarrass me. You can still be a bitch and not a rude bitch. There’s a difference between acting like a Queen and being one.

  26. Babs441 says:

I was a Madonna fan until I went to her Rebel Heart tour and she was 3 FREAKING hours late. Show didnt start until after 11 pm. NEVER again!!!! She is rude, inconsiderate, and not all that talented . Ill give my money to Gaga who is never late.

  27. kells-bells says:

Literally was just checking out prices for her shows in December before heading to this site. Once I saw the outrageous ticket prices and 10:30 start times for the shows, I was like: NOPE and WTF!?

  28. Becks1 says:

The only concerts I go to are Fleetwood Mac and Springsteen, there are never any opening acts and they always start relatively on time, maybe 5-10 minutes late. I would walk out if they made me wait 2 hours and never listen to their music again. That’s just arrogant and disrespectful.

  29. paranormalgirl says:

Just saw a boatload of Dead and Company shows. Not one of them started more than 1/2 hour late.

    • Erinn says:

And I think most sane people expect things to potentially be a little bit off. I just went to a concert two weeks ago. The band I was seeing (PUP) only was scheduled to go on at 11 (two opening acts) but they were on the stage by 11:15 at the latest. I was expecting around 11:30, just because I know that things can kind of roll away time wise, especially when you have two openers.

      • paranormalgirl says:

When I went to see the Afghan Whigs at Brooklyn Steel, they hit the stage no more than 20 minutes after the opening act was done, more like 15 – right after the stage was reconfigured for them. We were hanging out backstage and Greg Dulli told everyone “this has been fun, but we gotta play – people paid their hard earned money so we can earn ours.” And they put on a hell of a show!

    • Raina says:

Because they’re professional. It’s good to like your fans, not treat them like assholes merely for liking YOU. For all her talk of work ethic, she can’t bother showing up for it. Not all publicity is good and she WILL lose some sales over it. If its worth it to her fine.

      • paranormalgirl says:

And some of those later starts were because of long lines at the venues and weather issues.

  30. Lolalola3 says:

Ok, let’s skip the age-carping comments as egoism is pretty ageless and as for relevance, we are here talking about her, right? Comparing M to Gaga is pointless. That’s like comparing Cher to Miley. One may have had more recent hits but come on….Cher!
That said, Madonna really has to stop screwing with her face or her eyebrows are gonna be on the top of her head. She has become so pulled & botoxed that she is reminding me of the Katherine Helmond character in the movie Brazil.

    • lucy2 says:

I agree it isn’t her age. I saw Joan Baez a few years ago, she’s older than Madonna, and she showed up on time, no muss, no fuss, and did a great performance. She’s a pro.

    • Lightpurple says:

Agreed. The age comments are disturbing. This has nothing to do with her age. In the past 2 years, I have attended concerts by: Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, The Rolling Stones, Billy Joel, Springsteen, Jimmy Buffet, James Taylor, David Byrne, The Byrds, Elvis Costello, John Fogarty, and Mark Knopfler. All of whom are older than Madonna; all of whom started on time.

      • Granger says:

I said this above, but I’m adding Elton John, AC/DC and Guns ‘N Roses to your list. Elton John is 71 years old with two very young children; every member of AC/DC is an old fart who’s practically pickled from years of alcohol abuse; Axl Rose was a drug-addicted mess for years; and none of these shows started more than a couple of minutes late. Professionals, every last one of them.

  31. Tiffany says:

I have attended concerts over the years and I can tell you on 1 hand delays/late starts.

The Black Keys- 30 minutes because of a technical issue while transitioning from the opening act. Before the set started Dan apologized.

Celine Dion- roughly 20 minutes because the line for entry was still long because of the weather the day of her concert.

N.E.R.D.- 2.5 hours just because they did not want to start their show at 8pm which was the scheduled time and only gave a 45 minute performance because of city ordinance curfew. I have never invested money in Pharrell or Chad again after that.

For a woman who says she prides herself on putting on a great show, being on time and giving the full performance should fall under that. So the late start means that things will have to get cut and for that kind of money, that really is BS and a racket.

  32. My3cents says:

There has been talk for a long time that her performance has gotten really bad (mostly the singing). I’m impressed by her fans, shelling out so much money for this unprofessionalism and attitude.

  33. Grant says:

The most recent concert I went to was Ariana Grande. She started promptly on time and sang almost 30 songs in nearly 3 hours with perfect voice. Take a page from someone less than half your age, Madge…

  34. T says:

Give it up Madonna. If you don’t respect the fans who put their time and money into seeing you, stay home and stop wasting everyone’s time.

  35. DiegoInSF says:

I actually couldn’t go either and I am fighting the charge through my credit card company, it was a weekday and I would have been leaving the show at 1 am!! JLo started hers on time and it was the best concert I had ever seen. Hardworking WOC vs entitled white woman.

  36. pollyv says:

She is likely the most ungracious and least charming person in showbiz.

  37. HK9 says:

One of the Prince concerts I went to (many many years ago) started about 30 min late-and he apologized. So, Madge needs to sort this out.

  38. Candikat says:

I was dying to see her when she was in my city a few weeks ago and almost finagled tickets, but then was warned about the late start. I know several people who went, their tickets still said “8pm” but the actual show was 11pm – 2am. They all said it was a blast and totally worth it. The one thing they all have in common? None of them have kids.

  39. Valerie says:

Nah, f–k Madonna. That’s plainly arrogant and disrespectful. Some of her fans have the idea that being treated like sh-t by her is an honour. Any attention is good attention is her credo, so it doesn’t surprise me that they live by that as well. But it sounds like even her die-hards are fed up with it, as well they should be! It’s a waste of their time and money.

  40. Bunny says:

I’ve seen Prince, Queen, Steely Dan, Elvis Costello, the Rolling Stones, and too many others to count. Even Frank Sinatra.

They all started within half an hour of their advertised start time, played long sets, and thanked their audience for coming.

    Abusing/neglecting your audience isn’t queen-like behaviour.

If never go to see Madonna based on this. She’s delusional.

  41. Suzieq359 says:

    She still has die-hard fans?

  42. ChillyWilly says:

Ugh, this is totally obnoxious. I wouldn’t even pay $1k to see Madonna in her prime let alone now! I love me some old school Madonna but she hasn’t produced good music for 20 years!
Quimby, I love Tori Amos! I’ve seen her live 9 times and every show was transcendent…a spiritual experience. That being said, I wouldn’t pay what Madonna charges even to see Tori. And I doubt Tori would ask her fans to pay that much.

  43. MariaS says:

So she doesn’t care that fans that paid a lot of money and live in cities where trains and buses stop operating at certain hours, parking garages close, or have curfews for teenagers? Or perhaps paid a babysitter who wants to go home… Or have jobs themselves that they’d like to be rested for? Then she’s arrogant and selfish and deserves to play to empty seats.

  44. iconoclast59 says:

It’s not only the fans she’s inconveniencing, it’s all the support staff, too — the security detail, the vendors, the equipment crew, etc. They all have to stay late, and they may not have any overtime written into their contract.

I watched a video that followed my hockey team’s equipment manager on a road game. They got into town the night before, but when they got to the arena, there was a Black Eyed Peas concert that was running late. The guy didn’t get access to the locker room to unpack all the gear until 2 am. He didn’t finish until after 4 am, and he had to be back at 8 am for morning practice! I guess as far as Madonna’s concerned, those are the “little people” and they don’t matter. Beyotch.

In all my 66 years and dozens of concerts (Beatles, Prince, Dire Straits, Level 42, Supertramp, The Band, Yes, Stones, Steely Dan, Donald Fagan, Doobie Brothers, Little Feat, Van Morrison, Blue Rodeo, KD Lang, Dave Brubeck, Edgar and Johnny Winter, Dr. John, Neil Young, Rickie Lee Jones, Emmy Lou Harris, Joan Armatrading, Sheryl Crowe, Simple Minds, Tears for Fears, Mavis Staples (75 years old and kicked ass!!), and many more, NONE were later that about 15/20 minutes due to various technical problems that were fixed immediately and apologized for.

I have never seen Madonna, I was never a fan of her music from the get-go and her astronomical level of self-obsession and arrogance always put me off. She seems to have gotten worse over the years, and no Madonna, this is NOT ageism, it’s “we won’t put up with your shitism” any more. Obnoxious old slapper…

I need to know everything about seeing The Band. My jealousy knows no bounds.

      • Jaded says:

I liken seeing them live to seeing the Grateful Dead live – they just had this mystical sort of telepathic way of playing where they read each other’s minds and took their songs to amazing heights. Playing the records is one thing but live the music just took off and ascended. I saw them on the same bill as Supertramp….simply mind-blowing!

So true. Now if only the misogynistic slur at the end had been left out of it. 😒

  46. nemo says:

oh, Madge, we’re not in the 90’s anymore…

  47. KatMatz says:

I have seen Madonna several times and the most recent time I saw her, she was over 2 hours late. And the show was mediocre. I think she has gotten quite rude about it all. And all this baloney “the queen is never late”..well, actually it sounds like she is ALWAYS late. So she is delusional on top of being extremely rude. And, yes, she only played her new music, none of which is very good (IMO).

  48. Middle of the road says:

She just needs to retire already. Waaaaay overrated at this point

  49. Marianne says:

“Good luck with that lawsuit, Nate. Since the show actually went on, I don’t think that he’s going to get anywhere.” They should be allowed refunds though. You can’t just change times or dates and expect everyone can still go.

And I can maybe understand if it was a one-off experience and there was some technical issue causing the delay, but it sounds like some has a huge ego and thinks the world revolves around her.

  50. Infernos says:

She’s just tired. She probably took her Geritol too late in the day and had to wait for her energy to show up.

  51. kells-bells says:

Second Comment: I saw Madge’s Girly Show and Ray of Light tours – both shows were fab and both shows started on time, both had affordable ticket sections. Bummed and incredibly annoyed that she’s completely lost touch with reality. Sorry Madge, sitting this one out.

  52. SteeeevoQ says:

    Old hag.

  53. Dana says:

Ewww…to her old lady lips. She’s such fraud. Never have I ever liked her.

  54. Tarc says:

Funny, many weeks ago, she stated ALL her shows were going to start late, a la Madame X. She wanted after midnight, but they made her movie the start time to 10:30PM. This is when they are all supposed to start. If the ticket provided misstated the time, it’s not her responsibility. And to be frank, the guys is a ridiculous human being. Why was he even going to a concert?

  55. Kate Blood says:

Madonna is older than me. (By only a week, but I still love to say it.)

  56. SJR says:

To the folks who have seen the first class shows who started close to on time…
I completely agree that is The Professional way to behave.
Billy Joel, Elton, Bruce, The Stones..have huge careers lasting decades because they are professionals!
Madonna is full of ego. 2 hours is out of line. period.

  57. shells_bells says:

I saw her about 10 years ago and this is ALL I remember about the show. I’ve forgotten everything about it except for how long we waited for the show to start. FINALLY at close to 11pm she took the stage.
    So rude.

  58. Kyra WEGMAN says:

she did this every night she played in brooklyn — all my friends who went were dismayed to be waiting for 2 + hours (and no openers!). boring. no one is good enough to make up for that bs.
