Caitriona Balfe was one of the women in Valentino at the Oscars ceremony. It was her first time there and she looked gorgeous to me. She’s such a tall modelesque woman and I think she can pull off those bold looks. Not everyone agreed. Her party dress was by Prabal Gurung and it was quite similar in style. This also had a giant bow at the neck. At first it looks like those are sleeves but it’s actually a bow that sits at the front of the neck. I really like this, I think it’s bold and stylish. Plus her hair, makeup and jewelry are perfect for this look.

Billy Porter was in an draped purple Christian Siriano shirt with feathers and a long cape paired with lilac pants and a giant hat. I love him so much. His purse says “F-k you, pay me” and he’s laughing his ass off. He’s a walking work of art on any carpet.
Marisa Tomei was so pretty in this copper and blue ombre-look gown with pearls at the neckline and sequins dripping into the skirt. The sleek gold belt is a nice touch. Look at how staid yet striking this is.
Nikki Reed was in Armani and this is a cool gown, I like the high waist fishtail skirt paired with the bandeau top, but her severe styling is throwing me off. I’ve been worried about her for a while.
Nicole Richie was in Georges Chakra and, like Nikki Reed, her styling is not great. She did extreme raccoon eyes, but that’s been her look for a long time. Years ago we heard rumors that Nicole and Joel were having trouble. I just checked and that was the summer of 2015. Nothing came of that and they’re still together, which is nice to see. Nicole and Joel have daughters Harlow, 12, and Sparrow, 10.
Lucy Boynton was in Miu Miu and I love this. It looks like tulle cotton candy. The muted colors, cut, fabric, everything is phenomenal. I want her to marry Rami Malek!

I was just going to say the same thing. Why I kept this obscure bit of information in my head, I have no idea though.
Ah I really love Billy Porter, I think that he is incredible in Pose and I’m very pleased that he is getting the recognition he deserves. However – he looked a mess at the Oscars (I mean compared to last year??) and his trousers here are cheap looking. Whilst he is constantly breaking barriers I don’t think we have to pretend he always looks good.
No one is “pretending” anything. You are welcome to your opinion. I believe that’s the entire point of comments!

Uf, Caitriona… This dress brings out all her unflattering angles, few as they may be. She looked 10 times better in her Oscars dress and I’m sad she ever considered wearing this outside.
Marisa looks amazing-so pretty plus the dress is dreamy. I think she’s slightly older than me (I’m 52), and looks so good . Whatever she’s doing (or just genetically blessed) is working. And a talented actress, too!

I thought Marisa’s look was sparkly beautiful but the gown swallows her. Too big. Cait looks amazing. Joel Madden – just the same look over and over. Why are these rocker dudes afraid of color.
Caitriona Balfe’s Oscar dress was amazing, probably my best dressed of the night among soooo many boring boring dresses. This one…not so much.
Balfe is…damn…gorge. All look good.
I agree with Kaiser’s thoughts above. I loved Balfa’s Oscar gown,but love this red one too. I also especially like Lucy’s gown. That kind of light, airy gown is hard to pull off correctly without looking like a 1950s prom dress. The designer got it right. The varied colors are beautiful and blend nicely into the cut and Lucy wears it well and has great styling. Love me some Billy. I love Marisa’s fashion choices usually. Here I think the fabric is beautiful and looks good on her. However, I find the silhouette is wrong, the waist is too bunched up adding pounds to her hips that I’m sure she does not have. I think this would have been a home run if the silhouette had been sleeker with a sleek, ungathered waist. Just too much fabric and it overwhelms her in my opinion and cuts her in half.
Billy is exhausting.
I know it’s a classic, but I want this dramatic gloves look to end.
I loved Catriona’s Valentino dress. She looked stunning. And while this dress is pretty too it isn’t special enough for the ceremony. It’s a good after party dress.
Marisa’s dress is beautiful. It’s laidback glam.
And why are you worried about Nikki Reed? She seems perfectly fine to me.
I think it’s more that she’s in a relationship with an inconsiderate, controlling and/or abusive partner – the kind that flushes her birth control.
That’s a HUGE accusation to lodge at someone with zero proof.
Similarly to the birth control joke that she herself was in on. I think people need to let that go and move on. Was it in poor taste? Definitely. But people have created an entire narrative around it which I find to be in poor taste as well.
I disagree about Marisa Tomei – that dress makes her look matronly, frumpy and chubby – and she’s none of those.
Cait looks “modelesque” because she was a highly in-demand model for 15 years before becoming an actress.
Ugh Caitriona is so pretty! I don’t like the dress from the front, but from the side it looks great. I actually felt the same way about her Oscar dress.

Caitriona Balfe always looks super. Don’t care for the hair. I always think of Audrey Hepburn short or long hair would look nice on Caitriona. I like everyone else’s outfits but not Marisa. Looks very Mother Hubbard to me. Just my horrid opinions ☺️

Lucy Boynton looks SO much better in this dress than her red carpet oscar dress. It’s too bad her red carpet dress wasn’t as lovely as this gown!
I wouldn’t hold your breath w/her marrying Rami Malek. I like Lucy but thats a quid pro quo arrangement w/Malek. There’s a contract, similar to others we see. who knows what will happen w/regard to that, but I definitely think they’ll be ‘together’ (wink wink, quotes) for the Met Gala. It would be silly from a fashion/publicity/celebrity standpoint to NOT go.Lucy got the Marianne Faithful film which is cool!
— ironically enough Malek has….no new projects, at all, on the horizon…literally. He has ZERO new roles – the one in development has been backburner’d forever bc Sam Esmail has better things to do. His career may wither while his contract gf, who is *genuinely* talented, gets an uptick in her career. Honestly, Malek sooo lost me w/all his dishonesty in 2018-2019. Frankly I hope Lucy’s star continues to shine while Malek’s dims.
I love all of these dresses! Some serious glam! They all look so beautiful!!! Best ever. The Valentino looks like something the designer Valentino would do and not whoever they have in his place.
