Just a few hours before Donald and Melania Trump tested positive for the coronavirus, Melania’s former friend Stephanie Winston Wolkoff appeared on Anderson Cooper’s CNN show. Wolkoff wrote Melania and Me: The Rise and Fall of My Friendship With the First Lady, a tell-all about their friendship and falling out. Wolkoff had given a portrait of Melania like no other: the real Melania is just as much of a small-minded, petty bigot as her husband. Melania is constantly beefing with Ivanka, and constantly trying to screw people over. Wolkoff always said that she could back up everything she wrote in the book with all of the emails and documents she saved, plus she always played coy about the existence of some secret tapes she made of Melania. Well… Wolkoff released the tapes!! WOW.
This taped conversation happened in July 2018, and basically Melania is just bitching and moaning about how hard she works:
“I’m working like a — my ass off at Christmas stuff… You know, who gives a f–k about Christmas stuff and decoration? I say that I’m working on Christmas planning for the Christmas, and they said, ‘Oh, what about the children?’ That they were separated.” She used another obscenity to express her exasperation, asking Ms. Winston Wolkoff, “Give me a f–king break… Where they were saying anything when Obama did that?”
“They say I’m complicit. I’m the same like him. I support him. I don’t say enough. I don’t do enough,” she tells Ms. Winston Wolkoff in a conversation that sounds as if she is confiding in a close friend.
The conversation took place only weeks after Mrs. Trump — who was born in Slovenia and became a United States citizen in 2006 — made headlines when she traveled to an immigrant shelter for children in Texas along the Mexican border and wore a jacket that read, in white capital letters, “I really don’t care. Do U?” At the time, the president and the first lady’s spokeswoman said that the message on the jacket was aimed at reporters, not at the children she was visiting. Asked by Ms. Winston Wolkoff why she wore the jacket, Mrs. Trump said she did it to annoy her husband’s critics.
“I’m driving liberals crazy, that’s for sure,” she said. “And that, you know, that’s — and they deserve it, you understand. And everybody’s like, ‘Oh, my God. This is the worst. This is the worst.’ After, I mean, come on. They are crazy, OK?”
I mean, I’m not shocked by anything she’s saying here, but it’s still sort of startling to hear Melania basically bitch and moan about how tough her life is and how everyone hates her because of her husband and how little she actually cares about *any* of it. The “You know, who gives a f–k about Christmas stuff and decoration?” part is particularly damning for a Republican wife considering the Republicans’ obsession with making “the War on Christmas” happen.

As a fellow Xmas hater in a family of enthusiasts, I’m with Melania here – enough with this decoration malarkey. 😉
The other stuff is totally vile, but not surprising… I never bought the “Melania, secret liberal” narrative. She had to be sharing some of his values to stay married to him so long. She most probably can’t stand the man now, but she agrees with his policies, even if she cares little about politics in general.
That said, all the vile vile vile “c*yote” stuff (I feel bad even typing it) will probably help with his base.

However the tape does make her sound more liberal than I expected her to be. Like 10 percent. She said she tried reuniting the child with her mother (don’t know what exactly she’s referring to, if she is saying they should have followed procedure or if she’s saying she couldn’t do anything) but it does sound like she would rather do that than Christmas decorations. I loled when she said she didn’t want Fox News. Of course, she does reel back the Trump base by talking about the liberal media although I hate to agree that this is probably true. If Melania were to do something decent, we won’t hear much coverage unless that something decent is politically left.
With all that said, I really dont care about her do you? She’s still a birther. She will have some of my respect if she divorces trump and speaks against him in the future.
She’ll never speak out again Dump, even after their inevitable divorce. She’ll have signed an NDA to get a nice settlement on money and homes.

I read the Wolkoff book and the way she tells it, Melania told her that the children she spoke to at the border were happy to be out of the hands of traffickers (GAG). Like, she was spouting the right wing talking point that “we don’t know for sure the women bringing these children are actually their mothers, they’re mostly all traffickers, so we’re doing a good thing ACTUALLY We’re definitely not monsters at all ACTUALLY!” Even Wolkoff was grossed out when Melania told her that, and it was part of the end of their relationship…sorta, allegedly. It’s an interesting book but I didn’t take it all as gospel (or pay for it LMAO).
Some of the decorations are traditional and staffers put them up every year. The others are done by various outside designers who are chosen each year. Basically all she has to do is choose winners, I imagine. How difficult is that?
I’m not big on Christmas – I hate those year round Christmas stores. But for the White House it’s an annual holiday tradition to decorate the “people’s house” with trees in the different rooms, pick themes (ex: American designers doing Santa Claus outfit decoration), and have fun things like over the top gingerbread houses and school choirs. They open the White House to the public with (free ticketed) evening tours and it’s a lovely DC tradition. Even Hillary and Michelle got into it.

Based on what she has put forth three times now in the White House, starting with her Christmas in Hell theme, followed by the blood red trees of Armageddon, and whatever last year’s exercise in bad taste was, Melania certainly doesn’t give a f*** about Christmas
I read her Wikipedia today. It says her dad was a communist but had his daughters secretly baptized. Which made me laugh. It sounds like something Americans put on her WP (Slovenians most certainly wouldn’t care whether she’s baptized or not, at this point most probably isn’t). To make her sound (more) Christian for Trump’s religious supporters. So her anger at Christmas decorations and Christmas is even funnier to me.
Actually, it was kind of common in Central Europe. I’m from Poland and I heard lots of this kind of stories in my country, in former Yugoslavia etc. That parents (or one parent) were communist and for example, grandmother during innocent walk would go to church and secretly baptize the baby 😀 I had the feeling that I heard this also from Marina Abramovic.
So no hate on that front, it could be true.
And I guess it is something that many Europeans hate, that with the Americanization of our culture we got weeks and weeks ane weeeeeeks of Christmas decoration everywhere 😀

@A the Catholic Church and Poland are so intertwined, even during communism the leaders of the party couldn’t quash the power of the Church (although they tried). In the 50’s, political reforms allowed for more religious freedom and the Church became a major source of anti-communism activism.
Melania is from Europe as am I, and I found it actually atrocious to see that they start shilling Christmas stuff in October when I first stayed in the USA for a month in 1996 ( I was 11, I still vividly recall being weirded out by it).
Militant Christmas celebrations are an American thing.
Also, as someone from a formerly soviet-occupied country, christianity pretty much wasn`t allowed here and my mom for example was baptised in secret.

It isn’t so much that she doesn’t like Christmas – who cares? (I’m American and I don’t like it either thanks to the over-commercialization and pressure to empty your bank account to buy gifts for everyone you’ve ever met.) It’s that she represents the political right of ‘Murica. The right loves to talk about the War on Christmas, something that they made up to taunt the left. They go berserk if you say “Happy Holidays” instead of “Happy Christmas” during that season. If she was the wife of a Democrat president, they’d be mouth breathing all over this leak.

Yeah this is the kind of thing Fox News would cling to if it were a Democratic FLOTUS but I’m not taking offense that a woman doesn’t care about decorating for Christmas or curses. I like decorating but if I lived in the White House? I’d probably be so overwhelmed by the size and the pressure of meeting expectations I’d completely delegate to a designer and give some vague “yeah gold and trees and stuff, yep, looks good” instructions. We knew her feelings about the immigrant children when she told us, so that’s not new news.

What I learned from the tape is that Melania Trump was the true victim of the Trump’s child separation policy. Poor woman, none of the mean liberal media would write about how much she “tried,” to unite one child with it’s mother, but that kid just didn’t follow the proper procedures. I thought it was hilarious that she whined about no one picking up “the story” except for Fox and she totally blows off Fox. I think the Trumps have been seething that Melania wasn’t the Vogue favorite that Michelle was or even the Good Housekeeping / HGTV favorite like other Republican first ladies. As a former model, she probably envisioned Vogue covers and articles about how she’s a fashion icon for the ages. She thought that Michelle got those things because she wears nice clothes but actually it has more to do with Michelle’s personality, charisma, and leadership.

In my opinion, all these tapes prove, is that Melania shares the same traits and world-views as her husband and people like him, and that Stephanie Wolkoff lyed down with dogs and is pissed that she woke up with fleas.
